Guess this is the advantage to the dice soccer game having a SP element.

Referring to Big Win here:

The reward economy is totally off on this game. You get much less for winning than you do for ... other stuff (see spoiler). That's probably intentional, though.

Spoilers for how to get stuff you didn't earn and have a 71 rated team at level 8, and this is without buying it with real money:

I figure out those things last night. I think I am pretty much done playing these 2 games. I like the concept, but they're not too much fun after day 1 for some reason.

If you could set up your own league where you agree just to use the in-game rewards, you might be able to keep it fun. You can't, though. You're randomly matched up with whoever is online at the time whether they are a purist or a ... let's say, gamist.

I'm in the same camp after spending about 2 hours with the game. Too bad... I do enjoy watching the games...

Yeah, game has a ton of potential.

The money-grab aspect just ruins it though.

As much as I hyped the Big Win games, I too have deleted them from my devices. I could do with the constant losing but to have to wait for the loading and matching with an opponent made it not worth much.

I've gone back to Book of Heroes. I like how fights are fairly quick done and there are lots of quests to go through with different daily quests showing up every day for some points you can spend on special items.

One game I'd had on my appshopper wish list since it came out is Swordigo and I was very happy to see it go free for the day. Looks like a very nice platformer with RPG elements.

I guess the free Starbucks app of the week is a pretty good game. I can't find the name right now but if anyone stops by Starbucks, grab a couple of codes to share with FOFC (please)!

I think I saw something about this earlier, but today, iBird Explorer, a field guide for birds that is usually $29.99, is on sale for 99 cents. App Store - iBird Explorer PRO

I picked it up. I have ambitions of doing bird photography.

Has anybody ever played 100 Rogues? I read about it recently on TUAW and it sounds interesting. At 99 cents I guess I'm not out much if I don't like it, but thought I'd fish here for opinions first. And I'll go check out Touch Arcade (which has a new app).

Dola, the description for the app calls it a "rogue-like" game. What does that mean? Is there a rogue genre that I've apparently never played?

A roguelike game means a game that contains similarities to Rogue, an early era dungeon crawler for Unix systems. Roguelikes generally include significant randomization each time you play, feature top down perspective, turn-based mechanics, simple (one-click) combat, and large and varied loot/drop tables featuring different types of items that dictate a flexible playstyle each time you play.

Also, you will die. You will die horribly and repeatedly, and every time you die, you start over, and everything will be randomized the next time.

Nethack, Angband, and ADOM are classic roguelikes, but even something like the Diablo series has classic elements of the gameplay.

All requests that were pending have been approved. We have now completed our first challenge and as thus have unlocked a raid, I think. Will ha to read a little to figure out how raids work though

if you mean to join the guild, it's all done in-game. You can play the game by simply creating a character. Registering with Venan (the game makers) will allow you to create up to 5 characters. I did it and play with three characters since there are three types of characters: Shadow Walker (thief type), War mage (magician type), and Justicar (fighter type). Having an account also allows the game to sync between multiple devices...

I still have not really figured out how raids work. I know one of the officers have to launch the raid but I'm unsure if the 02:00 means two minutes or two hours. Don't have much time now and Brian I'd like to be able to experience the first raid so please don't launch it before I come back.

Anybody else, feel free to join us.

Game is free but requires a net connection at all time to play.

I guess it's still just 2.99$, but I tried to buy it at .99 a few days ago and the download failed cause I wasn't on wifi(too large). Seems like there should be a choice for "buy anyways, download the next time I'm on wifi". Something like that.

Jetpack Joyride, a FREE game I've talked about a lot, got another update today. The update added some new gadgets and added a dog to help Barry collect coins. If you still haven't played this game, WTF are you waiting for?

Also, Canabalt went on sale today. It's an endless runner with a great soundtrack. It's 99 cents now.

I rotated through all three of my characters, but we came up a bit short. If we coordinated a bit and didn't have some dumb-ass randomly launch the raid, we might have done better.

LOL, that's all right. I knew I wouldn't be able to participate much and I also knew I probably was the one with the highest levels and would be able to help out the most. I took part in some of it in between things but not all that much. Did most of my raiding with my level 17 shadow walker, only using all my evergy once.

Raid is again available, are you guys up for another round at it?

Should we start a separate thread to try and coordinate things a bit?

We got him!

Even if the raid looked over, you could still try and claim some points. Your ranking in the raid determines how many valor and hero points you get at the end. One of my two characters got 121 and 23 and the other got 123 and 31...
