The episode was full of some great stuff from the comic that I wasn't sure they'd put in the series like the Governor's daughter, the games and, of course, the telephone.
I feel like they've handled the Michonne/Andrea/Woodbury story a bit clumsily, but I was glad to see Michonne leave. It'd be stupid if she stayed after everything that went down. That said, I don't blame Andrea for wanting to stay either. I recall the games from the comic, but forget the details. I think I liked the way they did it on the show better. It was more WWE with zombies than actual gladiator type fights, which makes sense. The way the Governor explained it - both a source of entertainment and a way to ease the fear of the walkers - made sense. I mean, other than books there really isn't any other outlet for people. The masses must need be entertained. Oh, Darryl... You can't name the baby Little Asskicker. Though it does roll off the tongue a little easier than Sophia Anne-Carol-Andrea-Amy-Jackie-Lori Grimes.

When they were talking about going to find some, Maggie mentioned that the baby area of one store was cleaned out and that Lori had always asked them to keep an eye out for formula along they way, but they hadn't had any luck finding any.

I really don't get the nerd boners for Michonne. She's been fairly horrible to watch thus far.

It's more based on the comic and her potential rather than the execution of the character thus far.

I blame the writers on that one. The character has plenty of potential, they just seem determined on making her more one-dimensional than most walkers. Her katana has more personality at this point.

I thought it was interesting that Darryl ended up being the one to feed the baby. Since he is a TV-unique character, I wonder if he might have more of a family background than we may have considered? Otherwise, kind of an odd choice (out of the dozen or so folks there) to be the one to feed the baby.
BTW, am I crazy or have the walkers pulled people apart with the fingers before? Not too big of a deal, but just removing teeth seems like it misses some of the previous "powers" of the walkers. |

Remember the whole mistreated-as-a-kid aspect of Darryl's backstory? I'm thinking the baby thing (as with Sophia previously) is meant to establish some of his issues, most likely to set up him ultimately being less than thrilled to see his brother return to the scene. Quote:

To be honest, there aren't that many more dimensions to her in the comic either. She was crazy for a little while, talking to herself, but that just disappeared. Beyond that, she's black lady with a katana.

I have to say, I've been very impressed with the way they've handled the adaptation from the comics. They've included so many things from the comics - helicopter, Woodbury, telephone, Lori's death, etc - but have integrated them differently. In most cases, I think they've improved the storyline.

And to think all these months no one tried to see if this POTS works with a POTS powered phone. See if everyone didn't have cordless or cellular phones things would have turned out so much better!
(POTS for those at home stands for plain old telephone service).

I thought it was a decent episode, but didn't really advance the plot forward by much.
I am assuming the three graves being filled back in is a bit in the future? They didn't really find any of the bodies to bury. I am guessing it is someone from the town calling the prison, although according to the comics that is different?

So I still can't believe they just think Carol is dead and did nothing to try to find her or her body.

I felt like it was subtle enough to not require the spoiler tags, I can come up with several possible meanings for it. Thought it would only be clearly identifiable to those who know the source material (or have seen it spelled out in some recent interview stuff online iirc). If it actually spoiled anything for anybody then I apologize, definitely not my intention.

And the whole what happened to Lori thing does not make sense. Obviously, that zombie had just had a snack but what happened to Lori's bones? If Carl didn't finish the job and she woke up, wouldn't there be a trail of blood?
Nothing really made sense about that scene.

Considering two zombies couldn't finish T-Dog, but, one completely devoured Lori? Odd.

I always considered the fact that zombies consume people but then stop so the person can become a zombie odd, personally. Considering they are creating a competing zombie for the scare amount of food in their world.

+1. Nothing that has happened with her has had any meaning at all for me. They can keep her dark and mysterious and that's fine, but they can't do that and expect the scenes with her unlocking and killing the walkers, or her scene with the Governor, or her ultimatum to Andrea about leaving the compound mean anything at all. Those are all things that could be deeply interesting if they happened with a well developed character that we care about, but with someone that we know little about, who cares? Given Andrea's past, I don't trust her judgement or actions either, so the fact that she has an 8 month history with Michonne, without any more details past that, doesn't clear anything up for me. It could still easily go somewhere, but so far, its the least interesting part of an otherwise very strong season. |

I don't know that Carol is dead, unless we are supposed to do some herculean inferring from the last episode. Just jumping to a filled grave with Daryl mourning seems a little too obtuse for this show. Combine that with the Exec Producer coming out and saying that she was dead on "Talking Dead", and I think we've just been thrown a red herring.

Carol is definitely not dead. They wouldnt kill off one of the team offscreen like that. Maybe she ran into another group or is hiding alone somewhere but I dont think she's dead. T dogg sacrificed himself so she could live.

I have to give the writers some amount of credit...if she really IS dead, then they royally F'D it up. The filled-in grave seems very strange...because why even bother digging it if you have no body yet? The only body they did have was T-Dog's, yet they still dug 3 graves and they seemed to have them all filled (granted they assumed they could go back and get Lori's I suppose). A lot of explaining to do yet... |

Season 1 was good. Season 2 kind of boring because they became stationary for too long. Season 3 good so far because there's more action and movement. Definitely worth watching.

+1, I don't have a problem with anything I've seen on screen so far around this, but hearing that an executive producer came out and said that she is dead throws a weird wrench into all of that. If someone on the show clears up information like this then I expect it to be accurate. IF she is dead, then they've handled it very strangely on the show so far. IF she isn't, ridiculously poor form outside of the show and completely unnecessary fucking with the audience. Just don't answer the question at all, leave the matter open. |

If they lie about her being dead it is most certainly a betrayal of the audience/show relationship.
