I feel sorry for Matrix Games (of whom I have purchased games from previously). They probably didn't realize what they signed up for.

Wow. I can't believe all the UIC I missed today here and at the Matrix boards. Damm. My gut just burst from the 45 minutes I spent catching up on everything.

DeanHouston had me rolling on the floor I gotta say. Well played HA.

Ditto that. I've got a bunch of stuff from them, and have always liked them and the niche games they bring to market.

Gets me wondering what kind of business arrangements they have with developers, and how much a poor-selling title would hurt their business model. I'd hate to see them take a big hit if this game tanks.

Excellent point, can Maximum Football be customized into an adult fantasy game? Some people enjoy naked fantastical creatures(playing football).

So I'm wondering, should I break out my P2-400, 128 mb, 4 gb, vanta TNT video box for this game? It was my mom's computer from around 1998 (or when this game was started), and its been sitting by the front door for the better part of 2 months waiting to be thrown away. Something died on it, but I really don't want to fuck up a real computer by trying this game.

So should I just spend the weekend trying to find whats wrong with the old computer, be the lone FOFC sole to buy the game next decade when it comes out, and let you guys know about it? I just looked at the specs and it seems i qualify!!!!

I think that is actually one of the included modes alongside NFL, CFL, ALCOA, AFLCIO, UAW (go local 171!), and Malibu Stacy mode which is only available for pre-orders.

I haven't been over there, but to waste one's time and get your rocks off by creating fake account after fake account to troll someone else's board is kind of lame.

A nude patch, that would be so awesome.

Throw in some extra random Nude chearleader shots after TDs and you may be able to move a copy or two.

Agree, i love their wargames and what they do for free with SPWAW. Also looking forward for the new TOAW version, i really hope that Matrix won't be always remembered because the MF fiasco. I wonder how they felt into this trap, they should have kept just releasing wargames as they are the best doing it.

You guys DO realize you've totally scuttled any minute chance you may have had of ever getting advance notice of a Solecismic release.

You can't compare this situation with a standard delay in the release of a game. Several people here and on the MF board have tried to do that. You just CAN'T compare them. If this weeks issues were the first sign of delay in the release, I would be all over saying people are being insane, jerks, overreacting, etc... but this is on top of several YEAR long delays...

Copied from another thread, but this week's delays alone have been pretty funny, and make a very good case for not giving a definitive release time until it is truly known:

Yesterday's build was a big step forward but needed a bit more work, so right now the earliest release would be Friday if today's build checks out. We may decide to play it safe even if today's build looks good and plan on a Monday release so that we can give it extra testing time over the weekend. So, day by day, but with each day the probability of that build being final increases.

To boil it down to even more basics...

  • a release in February is certain, mid-February is likely
  • We are planning for a Monday night {2/20} release at present
  • So, the release date will be Tuesday, February 21st
  • We are planning for Thursday {2/23} now
  • I think it's likely that we will play it safe and give ourselves the weekend to make sure things are solid if tomorrow's build looks like "the one"
Will the "certain" February release happen? Stay tuned, fellas.

A flexible game that we'd like
Would cause all our attention to spike
Now it's stuck in a rut
All we hear is the "hut"
But will Maximum ever say "hike"?

Well, agreed. But I would be agreeing with folks like Bucc who find it silly that people are going this crazy because I'd say the guy made a mistake in being premature on setting dates this week.

But. This week is not isolated.

I see your one-verse cheesy limerick, and rasie you a second verse:

There once was a programmer named Dave.
Lots of attention to his game he gave.
Five years he did work.
But then acted like a jerk.
Yet some about game still did rave.

His wife tried to make him look better
She posted a convoluted letter
She wanted to defend
But in the bitter end
She wasn't just all wet, but even wetter

You can make the game do what you please
Have the players put spikes on their knees
100 men to a team
Make the ball burn with steam
In the end it was all just a tease

This game ought to be great from the start
Flexibility sets it apart
The AI will amaze
And the bar we will raise
Once they finish up all the box art

edit : this one was very hard to steer away from becoming vulgar

All promises of release have thus failed
On and on FOFC has doth railed
As final dates delayed
And Benny Hill played
Like decorum, our hopes, they have sailed.
