DENVER -- A 32-year-old female teacher from Parker, Colo., has been arrested and accused of a sexual relationship with a male high school student on a football trip to Glenwood Springs, Colo.

Authorities announced that Darcie Esson was arrested Monday on a felony charge of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.

According to investigators, Esson was an English teacher and student council sponsor at Elizabeth High School last month when she accompanied the school's football team for a playoff game against a team from Rifle, Colo. The group stayed in Glenwood Springs.

Police believe the incident occurred on or around Nov. 11, the day of the playoff game.

Esson has been placed on administrative leave and the district said she could be fired as soon as Jan. 11 at a board education meeting.

The school district pointed out that Esson was not traveling with the team, but on her own when the alleged assault took place.

The arrest affidavit alleges that the assault happened in Esson's hotel room as her two young children and a teenage babysitter were asleep in the same room.

The affidavit alleges that the two met in the Glenwood Springs hotel room and that Esson offered the student alcohol and then sexually assaulted him.

In the days after the incident, the student began bragging and a female student eventually told school administrators, according to the affidavit.

The affidavit said the boy's parents found some 120 phone calls and text messages between the two.

"We are saddened by it. We are held to a higher level of trust and are expected professionally to live up to that," said Dr. Bob Neel, superintendent of Elizabeth C-1 Schools.

Esson posted $25,000 bond Tuesday, but opted not to comment on the case.

The affidavit said Esson is divorced and the divorce was made official the day before the alleged sexual assault happened.

Glenwood police credited the Elizabeth and Parker police departments and the Elbert County School District for their roles in the investigation.

"It was noted during our portion of the investigation that school officials acted very quickly and efficiently when word of these allegations came to their attention," Glenwood police said in announcing the arrest.

A 38-year-old South Valley Junior High School student teacher has been arrested on suspicion of having sex with a 14-year-old boy several times over a six-week period.

Jeri Deanne Perez was arrested Tuesday evening after Gilbert police say she had sexual contact with the boy six times during November and December. Police think there was no such contact on school grounds.

Court documents show the alleged victim called Perez Tuesday afternoon to confront her. Perez said she would deny any accusations and indicated the boy should do the same, according to the documents.

Perez has worked as an aide since August 2005 and started at South Valley Junior High School as a student-teacher beginning January 2006.

The alleged victim did not attend the school, said Gilbert Public Schools spokeswoman Dianne Bowers.

She added district employees must have their criminal background and fingerprint checks cleared before beginning at a school.

"In light of everything that has been happening in the Valley, no employee goes to work without those background and fingerprint checks," Bowers said.

South Valley Principal Martha Farmer sent a letter to parents on Wednesday about the arrest.

"I'm glad they're letting us know what happened," said Augusta Wilson, whose daughter attends the school.

Perez met the boy and his family through her work at the school, though all alleged incidents are thought to have occurred at her home in the 1800 block of East Milky Way, southeast of Val Vista Drive and Ray Road, according to police.

Investigators are looking into whether there may be other alleged victims, said Sgt. Andrew Duncan, a Gilbert police spokesman.

"Whether she was on-duty or off-duty she held a position of public trust and that trust was violated," Duncan said.

Perez faces six counts of sexual conduct with a minor and is held on $100,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled Feb.9.

The charges stem from accusations that she took cheerleaders to a motel and the National Guard Armory where they met guardsmen for sex.
A report released late last week said Moore was also accused of having sex with a male student on a different occasion, but no charges have been filed officially.
Apparently Moore, who is married and has two small children, was having an affair with Sgt. 1st Class Thomas Fletcher, 29, whom she met while he was a recruiter at the high school. When she would meet Fletcher, police reports said she would bring some of her cheerleaders along for Sgt. Jeremy Pileggi, 21.
Both guardsmen have been suspended while a military investigation into the case is conducted. Because the cheerleaders were 16 and of the age of consent in South Carolina, they were not charged by the state.
After the investigation into the allegations began at the high school, authorities arrested the school's principal, Jane Blackwell (pictured), 59, for obstruction of justice. Blackwell was not involved in the incidents, but when investigators began asking questions, she told the cheerleading squad to not say anything to anyone.
Investigators believe that Blackwell may have known about Moore supplying alcohol to students and did not report it to police. She resigned after she was arrested at school and authorities seized her computers, calendars, and notebooks from her office.
'Just Get Over It'

As the allegations increased and the story made national headlines, Greenwood County school board member Marcus Bishop offered his resignation. Bishop is the father of Moore, the cheerleader coach. Parents are calling for the resignation of the school superintendent, a cousin of principal Blackwell.
Meanwhile, one of the cheerleaders at the center of the scandal told Fox Carolina that she wishes everyone would just, like, get over it.
"We've been at the police department all night and the news people are everywhere, school's hard," she told reporters. "I wish it all would all blow over and people would just let it be."

PORTLAND, Oregon (AP) -- An 84-year-old woman who confessed to having sex with an 11-year-old boy in her foster care reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty Thursday to attempted sex abuse, officials said.

Georgie Audean Buoy will serve 36 months in prison, said Leslie Wolf, chief deputy district attorney for Wasco County. She was originally charged with six counts, including attempted rape, for which she faced eight years in prison, Wolf said.

In a taped confession, Buoy admitted to having sex with the boy while he was in her care in 2004, Wolf said. Her age and lack of prior criminal convictions played a role in the plea deal.

Buoy's attorney, Andrew Carter, did not return messages Thursday.

Buoy, of The Dalles, was a longtime member of her church and volunteered at the county jail, Wolf said.

She must register as a sex offender after serving her sentence at a women's prison, and must pay $5,000 to the victim, as well as up to $7,500 in restitution for counseling.

CLINTON, South Carolina (AP) -- A middle school teacher accused of having sex with at least five boys -- some of them students at her school -- was arrested, authorities said.

Police began investigating Allenna Williams Ward, 23, after school officials recovered a note containing inappropriate messages, said Clinton Public Safety Director John Thomas.

Ward, who is married, had sexual encounters with the 14- and 15-year-old boys at various locations, including in the school, at a motel, in a park and behind a restaurant, from December to this month, according to arrest warrants.

Some of the victims were students at Ward's school, Thomas said.

Ward was placed on administrative leave with pay last Thursday, acting district Superintendent Laura Koskela said. A message left for the school's principal was not immediately returned Wednesday.

Ward was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and six counts of lewd acts on a minor, according to arrest warrants. She is being held in jail awaiting a bail hearing, police said.

A phone message left at Ward's home was not returned.

CLOUD - Police say William Long, a battalion chief for Osceola County Fire Rescue, liked to watch his wife of 5-years have sex with other men, bringing men home or taking her to the fire station for sex with a subordinate, but the latest report claims that late last year, he sat on the couple's deck and watched her commit sex acts on three teenage boys.


His wife, Maryann Long, 44, was charged with three counts of lewd and lascivious battery, child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor while William, 45, was charged with child neglect for doing nothing to stop it.


Authorities Maryann gave the boys, aged 14 and 15, alcohol and then disrobed and got into a hot tub with them. Police say William then watched her perform oral sex on the teens.


William was placed on paid administrative leave while DCF has been notified that Maryann Long runs a day-care service out of her Illinois Avenue home.

actually, this is pretty much standard as far as i know...and in some states, the judge can actually set aside a jury decision if it is highly apparent that they either ignored critical evidence, or in some other way, did not apply the jury charge properly. (its called a a directed verdict and usually results in an automatic appeal)

Assuming this person ever watched Law and Order, she would know that the judge doesn't have to follow the sentence in a plea agreement. It is probably bad form because it may prevent the prosecutor from getting future plea agreements, but it happens.

A plea bargain is nothing more than a "recommendation" by the prosecutor. Usually followed, but not always.

Agree on the plea bargain posts above but a 23 year old having sex with a 17 year old doesn't seem to be the case to throw the book at. Go after the lady who had the kid with the 11 year old or the 30-40 somethings sleeping with the 13 year olds. A six year age difference combined with him being one year from being legal should definitely effect her teaching certificate and give her serious probation, but 6 months in prison? Seems like the judge is trying to make a name for themself.

Not only have I never posted in this thread (until now), but I never even viewed it. There's not much mystery as to what this could've morphed into, but I didn't make the connection. I'm glad I'm finally here though.

My girlfriend is a beautiful, 23 year old, blonde-haired, blue-eyed high school math teacher. She tells me her students hit on her non-stop, with all the cheesy pick-up lines. I keep starting to tell her to rat the kids out so they get in trouble, but as I think about it more, better off to just let it slide as long as they don't try to grab her or anything. I think it would be very easy for a situation to come up where a kid gets in trouble and says the teacher initiated it. Even if nothing comes of it, it could hurt her reputation anyway.

Oh, and when I met her and found out about her job, I nearly blew my chance because of a joke about (blonde) teachers banging their students .
