I did fairly well starting in Mexico. I have been able to unlock Virus by starting in Canada, and I unlocked Fungus by starting in Mexico. Virus wasn't too much harder than Bacteria, but it did require a different strategy. Fungus was pretty tough. I knocked out pretty much the whole world except Canada, Australia, and oddly enough, France. Couldn't get a single infection in France.

Gah - like a rookie I spread too far too fast. Only got to 52% of the world's population before the cure was completed. Also didn't have enough transmission vectors...primarily just airbone and bloodborne in the beginning.

Just bought it and played my first game. Started in China killed 6.5B people when I ran out of infected and lost. Who stopped me? France. Flipping France stopped me.

Instapaper is the free app of the week at Starbucks, normally $4.99, I think. Highly recommended. It's a "save it for later" reading app that saves multi page articles in an easy to read format.

I use Reeder as my RSS reader on my iPad and I love it. It's the best RSS reader I've found by far.

Ugh...I killed all my hosts before I could kill the last 18 million healthy humans. It was literally on 100%. Damn cold-weather countries (Iceland and Greenland) and my lack of cold-resistance (spent my DNA points and didn't save any for them at the end). Won't make THAT mistake again.

Second game, pretty much the exact same thing happened. Iceland and Greenland being the only two countries I couldn't get to.

Instapaper is an awesome, awesome app. Not only can you add whatever you see on your device but there are extentions available for Chrome or Firefox that will save anything webpage for reading later to your instapaper account and voilà, that page is now available in a streamlined version on your iPhone.

Prepaid Virgin Mobile IPhone coming out next month. Yea, it costs 650 new, but plans start at $30/month. I'm guessing the break even point is about 10 months, then you're saving $40/month going forward.

Yes, twice on normal. Once with bacteria and once with a virus. The cold weather countries seem to give much more trouble than the warm weather countries. I usually end up with 2 levels of cold weather resistance and hope that is enough.

Beat it once, on normal.

Started in Central Africa, used mainly the blood tree, used air to spread it early on and made sure to adapt it to heat and cold early on.

I've found good results by letting my DNA points build up and then spending a bunch at one for maximum effect. Spend early points on all types of transmission and infection (and hot/cold resistance)...then really nail them with lethality and keep points in reserve to mutate and slow down research.

Oh - and don't put any points toward anything that's quickly-lethal until you have like no healthy countries left.

Still have yet to win-win though.

Killed everyone using a virus, focus on transmission and abilities. The virus will mutate quickly on its own. Started in Australia.

I had to spend point devolving the virus so it didn't get too lethal too quickly. Once every country was infected, I jacked up the mutations.

I'm not getting close yet with the fungus.

Mine did keep giving me a bunch of "you're low on memory" errors where it would then save and I'd have to restart it.

Yes noticed that too with the cold weather countries. For whatever reason, I seem to get one country, even though they are infected, they hold out until the bitter end and I end up losing.

Yea, I've tried starting in all different places with different mutations and either a cure is found too fast or one country is able to hold out somehow even though it's infected.

so far it just goes to black for a bit, and then back to the app screen. So i guess i just have to remember to save a lot. I saw the reviews and thought they were exaggerating. Never had an app crash so much. Fun game though heh

Hope I don't jinx myself, but I think I got it this time. 100% of the world is infected, 89% are dead...greater than 1 year to a cure. 750 million living humans.

I found that once I got to the "everybody is infected" point I devolved all my transmission and my non-lethal symptons (rash, coughing, etc. which had mutated without my spending points) and poured all that into getting one fast-acting lethal symptom (hemorraghic shock in this case), along with fighting off the humans' attempts at a cure through hardening and genetic mutation.

DEATH WISH BACTERIA WINS!!!

807 days. My score was 6060.

Waze- A free 3D GPS that actually reports traffic,accidents,etc. by users. Thought it wouldn't be that good but it works pretty well. All reported accidents,traffic were really there. Only downside is it is a battery hog.
