Haha no problem Bobble! It's pretty cheap right now so I'll just tell him to man up and buy it.

You know you're dying to buy something when you're thinking about getting Train Simulator. Geez... Maybe it's the 80% off that's pulling me in.

80% off is still about 1000$ for all the DLC.

This is correct. If you buy Civ IV for one platform - or any of its expansions - you get it for both. Not sure why they didn't also do that for Civ V, but anyway.

Yeah, it's one PC and one Mac.

Yeah, it's one PC and one Mac.

You get both if you buy Civ V too, it just doesn't show up as different entries in your library.

If a game says SteamPlay above it's Add to Cart button on its store page and has the Windows, Mac or Linux logos you can play it on any of those operating systems if you purchase it. Nearly every game that is available on multiple operating systems is like this. There are a few exceptions that I think are almost all games with different publishers on Mac and PC like the original Borderlands.

So far all I've done are some "quick jobs" which involve driving from city to city for someone else to earn cash. The reviews I've read make it sound like the business side of things once you can start to buy your own trucks is well done, but I'm still a ways from getting to that I think.

I go through phases where I like to listen to a lot of podcasts, and I watch a ton of league of legends matches, but if teams I'm not quite as interested in are playing I like having something light and somewhat mindless to do. This game seems like it will fill that need for a little while at least. Perhaps once I get further into it I'll find there's more there, but for now that's where it sits for me.

Thanks for your impressions. I've been wondering if the game would play better with a steering wheel. I don't have one and the Let's Plays that I've watched don't give a lot of insight. I may just wait for the Christmas sale as I've got plenty of other stuff to keep me occupied.

It's good with an Xbox controller as well. I play it that way. It's probably one of my most played games of 2013 on Steam, haha. Then I realized how much I hate driving 2 hours each day to/from work and I stopped playing it. It is pretty relaxing though. Seems like that's what I enjoy in gaming, as I usually only get to play later at night and I'm usually pretty exhausted already. It's my wind down time.

it has a variety of bugs of various states. Due to atari's bankruptcy, there are legal questions surrounding the game. The devs pulled it from all of their sale outlets and cannot release any patches. Atari, because they need the money badly, choose to leave it on Steam, where only they make money from the sale, and the dev gets none. That's the short story.

I grabbed it when it was half of earlier in the sale. Love the mechanics of the swapper device and it has some really challenging and excellently designed puzzles. The story is about what you would expect given the nature of the swapper device you use and it takes around four and a half hours to complete. Definitely recommend it to a fan of puzzle games.

I know that I have some games that I haven't activated on Steam yet. I also don't know where I could find those games and their key codes. I am petrified.

If Prison Architect was $10 I'd pull the trigger. I'm very curious about it.

was gonna comment about another day without Expeditions: Conquistador and say that most of the game had already been on sale multiple times already until I saw the mention "Encore Day", heh. Guess I'll pick it up for 9.99...

For anyone with Civ V looking to buy Gods & Kings, it's included in the Gold Edition so it's actually cheaper to get it by buying the upgrade to Gold Edition than buying Gods & Kings on its own.

So I got a desktop to mostly work from home, but now all these steam sales really have me wanting to get back into playing some good games. My processor and ram are great, but looks like I have a very basic Video card
"Intel HD Graphics 2500"

How hard is it to upgrade the video card- they seem pretty cheap online, I did it years and years ago but not sure I'd know how to do that anymore. (It's an acer desktop)

yeah, it's not as if 10 bucks will break the bank, and it's still at 50% off but it is disappointing that it never got a chance, not even as a Flash deal...

Yeah. I am convinced though that if I buy it right now it will be on the next flash deal or first daily deal after the summer sale. Just the way Steam sales always work.

Right now you don't have a video card but are using the integrated graphics on your CPU. You'll need a free PCI express port which likely won't be an issue, but the stumbling block you may run into is power supply. Even the lowest end of Tom's Hardware's Best Entry Level Graphics For the Money requires a 400W PSU. If you need an upgrade a new PSU might run at least $50 or so. You could run into some trouble there as some manufacturers use proprietary designs for PSU where a standard model may not easily fit in the case, though I have no idea if Acer does this.

I am pretty much finding myself in the same boat. I have a Dell box with an i5 processor, but it's still running on the integrated graphics card which I'm now finding inadequete to play games like Just Cause 2 and I think can't run Sleeping Dogs (I'm getting the dreaded HKShip.exe error which I think it's doing because I don't have a video card to handle it). I'm not really needing to get the super duper top of the line since I don't buy games on day one, but usually months or years after release during Steam sales. I was looking at getting something like this as a starting point. Thoughts?

Going off of this it looks like the GT 630 doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Sleeping Dogs.

Really enjoying the Prison Architect game. It feels a lot like Classic SimCity in how you build things, but it's pretty intuitive. Still figuring out how much I can expand the building and still have money for staffing. I built a great prison to start and had money for one guard, no warden, and no cooks. Needless to say, that didn't end well. Back to the drawing board.
