The 2088 NFL Playoffs

Quick note – If we win the Super Bowl and if Curry wins MVP then it’s possible we had a Quinfecta. Curry finished with 1730 yards and 14 scores.

NYG made it to the playoffs as a 12-4 wild card.

Week 1 – Wild Card Weekend –

LAC over NYJ 27-22
Baltimore over Houston 30-10 – this is the only home win

New Orleans over Green Bay 27-24
NYG over Arizona 24-19

Week 2 – Divisional Weekend

New Orleans at Charleston –
NYG at Tampa Bay

Baltimore at LV
LAC at Jacksonville

Jags still in it!

Results?

LV 24-10
Jax 30-21

Tampa Bay 27-24 – I was hoping that NYG would make it to us in the final but it’s good that the team that beat us at home is not coming home

Us – 21-14

Curry, MVP, 29 of 99, 2 scores
Moya – 19 of 27, 224 and 1:1
Score by Wilkerson

Picks bu McIntye and Kau

6 KRB by Witcher; 6 by Thornton

League Awards

Let’s check it out…

Super Bowl MVP - RB Curtis Curry
Off. Rookie of the Year – RB Curtis Curry

All Pro 1st Team

OG Bryson Witcher

All Pro 2nd Team

QB Norman Moya – WOW
RB Curtis Curry

Curry just got a trifecta. I was really hoping! I am shocked at the lack of awards and shocked by Moya getting an All-Pro and shocked that Curry only got 2nd in All Pro. This was shocking! We had a great season without looking at the stats, so what happened?

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Moya – 355 of 525, 3989, 28:10, 99.9

Better rating than las year, 2nd in yards and scores. Wow! He really showed up in his 3rd year as a starter and 7th overall.

Rushing

RB Curry – 360 for 1730, 4.81 ypc, 14 td

The most yards, 2nd most scores, and a great ypc!

Receiving

As you can see, McCarthy rocked the most yards with 1007. Barely 1k. Wilkerson is #2 with 817 yards and Cheshier has never gotten to Flanagan levels of receiver. Engelberger has a down year as well. I have an aging and dropping offense and we need to do more.

Blocking

Witcher had a TON of KRBs this year. And a great block %. He was dominant in the trenches and this is his 2nd All Pro in back to back years. Stephenson and Laurain were great as well although Thornton was down.

Special Teams

K Ramirez – 30 of 34, Long of 51, 52/52 PAT

Great PATs but four missed FGs isn’t what you want.

P Polley – 85 for 48.8 avg and 29 in 20

Great numbers here P!

We had 0 RET TD

WLB Sherman led my team with 25 special teams tackles

Defensive

Goodwin led my tea in tackles and Montgomery was 2nd. Dunn and McGregor each got double digits and Dunn led my team with 11. Hanks in his rookie year netted me 8 sacks and will be my new WLB moving forward if he can continue. Yaussy just 5 which is still lower than I’d like. Montgomery a very down year for sacks as well with just 3.

Pass Coverage

Goodson had a great year with four picks and 1 pick six, and four picks by my two starting Ss as well. Starting CB Theurer was horrible with just 1 pick just 3 pasdef. A dimeback can do better than that!

Off. Player of the Year – OG Bryson Witcher – Is he having a career reminiscence with back to back All Pros? The 67/67 able 7th year vet isn’t someone that sells you, but another All Pro or two? He is could wind up in Canton.

Def. Player of the Year – ILB Grayson Goodwin – He led my team in tackles and picks and grabbed me a pick six. Great job lad! Great job!

Sp. Teams Player of the Year - P Heath Polley – Another great, consistent year!

Rookie of the Year – RB Curtis Curry – He won a trifecta and led the league in yards! Great job rookie!

Heart Award – WLB George Sherman – He still netted me 2 sacks subbing in and led my team in special teams tackles. Great stuff Sherman!

I interview the scouts inc. a solid FB, OT, a stud OC, etc.

I sign my RFAs and I have 41 players under contract with 119 available to spend

Before I do so I need to sign Moya

398 mill, 5 years. Nasty bad

I extend my LS, K and P

I have 69 free

How much to sign

WR Elsea – 36 mill 3 years – nah

TE Cheshier – 23 mill, 3 years, yes

Vets in Last Year

DE McGregor – 57/57 10th year vet. Wants 90 mill for 3 years. I’ll wait until later as he may drop

CB Theurer – 64/64 – Wants 97 mill for 4 years, I hold odd

RT Laurain – Wants 133 mill over 5 years. I do so

SS Ogeary – Has dropped to 47/47 – Wants 43 mill over 4 years. I do so. I like him as a nickelback or emergency starter as he outplays his ability.

Rookies Entering Their Final year

CB Ahmed – 128 mill fo r5 years for the 59/59 guy. Nope

Two Years Left?

DE Dunn – I sign for 134 mill and 4 years

WILB Kau – Just wants 32 mill over 4 years. I do it

Week 4 -Sherman heads to SF

Week 8 – C Gardinaer signs with Richmond

Week 9 – Velazquez heads to Augusta

Week 10 – Cheshier returns to us

The 2089 NFL Amateur Draft

Drafting 1st is DC. I think they’ll grab QB Rico Colbert. He’s a stud.Nope! They go RB Raul Woffard. Colbert heads 3rd to play for the Anglers.

Our 1.32 arrives. Who do I like here?

FB J.T. Davison – Very underrated, good looking bars, 2nd best player on the board
C Dave Grier – I didn’t interview him, best player on the board and 3rd best C in the draft, I only interviewed 1-2 and they didn’t fall like I expected. Grier is a gamble.
DE Brayden Hawkins – 3rd best player on the board. Could he be my new starter?

Hmmmm

I kind of like the first or second options.

Here’s Grier and he has no weaknesses and looks pretty sexy and good. He looks like he’d be a solid C for any team or need but without an interview he’s a gamble.

Here’s the best FB in the draft the very underrated JT Davison. We are a smashmouth offense, we need a FB and ours just retired. Davison is as safe as you can be with the good bars and very underrated impression.

But what do you do?

I’m really torn. Position of need? Or a starter upgrade I’ve been looking at for a while?

Hmmm…

C Stephenson – 68/68; 8th year vet…

I can’t gamble for Grier… I just had a great year for the guy. There was a game with EIGHT KRB.

Should I grab Davison or is there someone else that fell?

I take him

See you at the back end of the 2nd round

2.32 – Hmm…CB Carter Atkins? I need a replacement for Ahmed. Sounds good.

3.32 – WR Dexter Bernard?

4.32 – DE Kelly Melvin? He’s a run stopping specialist. CB Donovan England? I do Melvin.

5.32 – TE Braxton Joy? He just went two spots before us. Another TE? TE Claude Arbuckle is the best on the board.

6.32 – OG Darius Burns? P Jeremy Bennett? I grab P.

7.32 – C Vince Watkins?

Rookie Lookie #1

1.32 – FB J.T. Davison, Muskingum, 42/71

I extend

I don’t extend Theurer who wants too much after dropped to 54/54, Ahmed and McGregor who fell to 50/50. I am starting Atkins who boomed for Theurer.

Rookies

I’ll skip my bust

Here’s Atkins, my 2.32 pick and newly starting CB. As you can see he’s poor in the picks, okay in coverage, great in run stopping, and poor at thinking but great at punching. He’s streaky and a placeholder.

The 2089 NFL Regular Season

Last year we were 13-3 and won the Super Bowl against the heavyweight Jaguars. This year I think we go 12-4 and make the playoffs but don’t win. I was surprised by us winning in Year 3 of Moya when he was tossing a lot of picks.

He is now making almost 400 mill over the life of a 5 year deal, so our cap won’t be able to extend as many people as before unfortunately. But I still have 42 mill free this year but I need to protect the cap next year as Moya’s hit rises from 61 mill to 89.

I come out of preseason with just two probables. DT Nunn was out for two weeks but is fully healed.

Ready?

Week 1 – Greenville – We open with the Grizzlies our most recent old team and the former Cowboys – Not halfway through the year! Weird. We lose the season opener 26-13. Well we won’t be undefeated this year! Moya was injured during the game and finishes probable. Rush score by backup QB Kleinsasser, pick by Cook.

Week 2 – Portland – We win 27-20. MVP is Moya with 24 of 30, 321 and 2:1, scores by Gassman and Mccarthy, Curry is 20 of 145 and rush score by Ellison, FF by Montgomery and Dunn, rec by Simonsen, 4 KRB by Bunyan.

Moya is healed.

Week 3 – Tampa Bay – We win 31-17 – Curry, MVP, 31 for 190 and 1 score, Moya 16 of 22, 175 and 2:1 scores by Curry and Gassman, pick by Simonsen, 2 sacks by Montgomery, 4 KRb by Thornton and Witcher

We have 6 injuries from that game.

Week 4 – GOOD BYE! Way too early

Week 5 – At 4-0 Seattle – We win 27-3. Moya, MVP, 21 of 31, 224 and 1:0 score by Gassman, Curry and Ellison rush scores, FF by Dunn, McGregor and Montgomery rec by Dunn, 1.5 sacks by CB Atkins!

Moya is probable again

We are 3-1 at the 1st quarter

Week 6 – Arizona – We win 27-.6. MVP? Curry who is 30 for 148 and 1 score, Moya is 17 of 31 for 221 and 2:1 Scores by Wilkerson who is 7 for 106 and 2, FF by LB Hayes, 5 KRB by Thorn, 4 by Stephenson

Week 7 – At DC – We lose 24-27. MVP is Curry with 25 of 121 and 2 scores, Moya is 22 of 35 246 and 1:2, score by Wilkerson, picks by Hayes and Simonsen, FF by Dunn and Kau, rec by Goodwin, 2 sacks by Hanks, 4 KRB by Thornton,

We got influenza.

Week 8 – 5-1 NYG – They beat us at home here in WV last year and were a great 12-4 so this could be a real big match. We win 23-6. Nice! MVP is Curry with 23 of 144 and 1 score, rush score by Moya who is 19 of 33, 177 and 0:1, pick by Montgomery, FF by Hayes, rec by Kau, 4 KRB By Thornton, Witcher and Laurain.

Week 9 – At LAR – We win 28-7. MVP is Curry again with 25 for 141. Rush score by Moya who was 19 of 34, 208 and 1:0 score by TE Barnes, picks by nickel Theurer and dime Leat, FF by McGregor and rec by Cook, 2 sacks by Yaussy,

We are 6-2 at the 2nd quarter!

As of right now Curry has 1039 yards and is on course for a 2k season! Will he slow down?

Week 10 - 4-4 SF – We win 40-10 our first big win of the season. MVP is Curry with 16 for 133 and 3 scores, Moya was 17 of 23 for 252 and 0:1, pick by Simonsen, FF bY McGregor and McIntyre, rec by Dunn, 2 sacks by McGregor, 4 KRB by Witcher and Laurain.

Week 11 – At 5-4 Greenville – Here’s our midseason game. We lost to them at home, can we prevent the sweep? We win 30-9. MVP? Dunn with 3 sacks. Curry just 97 yards, Moya was 16 of 27, 219 and 2:1 scores by Gassman and Wilkerson, pick six by Simonsen, picks by Goodwin and Cook, FF by Dunn and Goodwin, 4 KRB by Laurain and Stephenson.

We are fully healed

Week 12 – 7-3 Anchorage – We barely win 23-22. MVP is on their team. Curry is 26 for 151 and Moya is 19 of 33 for 169 and 2:0 scores by Barnes and FB Davison, FF by Montgomery and Hanks, rec by Cook and McGregor, 2 sacks by McGregor, 6 KRB by Witcher,

Week 13 – At 7-4 Green Bay – Uh oh. We lose 14-17. Curry was 21 of 95 and 1 score, Moya was 20 of 30 for 166 and 1:1 score by Cheshier, pick by Ahmed, 2 FF by Hanks, 1 each by Goodwin and Ahmed, rec by Atkins and Montgomery, 4 KRB by Thornton,

We are 9-3 at the 3rd quarter. Curry? 1508 still on track for 2k.

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Moya – 302 of 484, 3345 yards, 20:13, 85.5

This was a horrible year for Moya!

Rushing

RB Curry – 384 for 2049 yards, 5.34 ypc 15

Amazing year for Curry. He had a studly ypc. Normally we get here 2k with a lot more carries, but not this year!

Receiving

Obviously, a down year for Moya leads to a down year here. No one came out looking good save for Curry had 577 yards and 2.6k.

Blocking

Thornton led all OGs in KRB with 51! He was 2nd overall. And Witcher was awesome with 48 KRB. Laurain had an amazing year as well but allowed too many sacks to get All Pro. Everyone was great this year!

Special Teams

K Ramirez – 36 of 41, Long of 51, 42 of 44 PAT

Is Ramirez falling? He missed 5 FG and 2 PAT. Good for other Ks but he’s better than this right?

P Bennett – 84 for 44.2 and 30 in 20.

Not as good as Polley but the rookie’s avg wasn’t where you wanted it. But his 20 was fine.

CB McIntyre – 1 KR RET TD

SLB Hanks - 26 special teams tackles

Defensive

Goodwin had a ton of tackles but just 1.5 sacks. This was a down year for sacks. McGregor just 8.5 although the guy is 32 and in his 10th year in the league. Dunn just 9 sacks and led my team, he’ll need to do better. Yaussy was with 6, again, I’d like another couple of sacks but that’s fine for a DT. Hanks sack number dropped from 8 to 6. Montgomery’s rose. Hanks led my team with 6 FF

Pass Coverage

This was a down year for picks but a good one for pasdef. Simonsen in his first year as a stater replacing Ogeary notched 4 picks, 2 for returns and 9 pasdef. Not bad for the sophomore. FS Cook led my team with 16 pasdef and netted 3 picks. Ahmed just 1 pick but 10 pasdef. We need a 2ndadary renovation.

Off. Player of the Year – RB Curtis Curry – 2k yards? 15 scores? Both led the league. Good stuff Curry!

Def. Player of the Year – S Lewis Simonsen – Led my team in picks, was the only defender to score this season and he did it twice. Good stuff Lewis!

Sp. Teams Player of the Year – K Britt Ramirez – Not great by his standard but he had a good year by an other metric!

Rookie of the Year – FB J.T. Davison – He sort of won this award by default. 2 scores, 276 yards. I hope more is in store!

Heart Award – DE Henry McGregor – Down to 50/50, 10th year, 32 years old, still netted me 8.5 sacks and was 2nd on my team in them!

The 2080 NFL Amateur Draft

Welcome to the first draft of the 80s!

Picking 1st is the LA Rams and I think they’ll grab a solid QB named Camden Hopkins. Who do they take? Hopkins! See you in 29

Who do I like at the 1.30 spot?

OT Josiah Ruth – Top OT on the board – Hard to Read, not great bars
DE Don Aghemo – Top player on the board – Looks pretty sexy, no interviews.
DE J.B. Samuels – 2nd best player on the board better pass rush, no interviews. Also looks sexy.
SLB Kenyon Fisk – Stud! Fell to me at 1.30. Looks nasty good like Montgomery good. I am a 3-4 but I don’t need a LB
OC Bill Jeffries – Very underrated not great bars top C in the draft
LT Tommy Branch – Underrated, great at pass blocking, str, and end but low run block. Very low.
TE Preston Gerhardt – Overrated. Great bars

All 6 DBs I interviewed fell off the board.

Who do you like? DE? SLB? OC? LT? TE? All are open spots on my roster as my LT Bunyan is just 59/59, and my TE Cheshier is in his 11th year at 48/48 and McGregor needs a permanent replacement. This draft has a LOT of options

Let’s look

Here’s Gerhardt! As you can see he’s the top TE on the board and the 3rd in the draft. I interviewed #3 and 4. Great bars with great blocking and catching. Just overrated but a big need. Even if he busts a few he’ll still be fine and dandy and better than my 48/48 guy. If he finishes 60/60 I’ll be happy with the pick – but he’s a gamble at a position of need.

Here’s Aghemo, the top player on the board with a 6.4 rating. He’s great at run, pass rush, and weak at hitting and okay at thinking.

Here’s the 2nd best player on the board and the next DE. He is better than Aghemo at pass rush str, and just as weak at hitting.

Here’s the stud on the board – Kenyon Fisk. Can I pass up that talent level? He’s the best player out there by Bars.

Here’s the underrated Branch. He looks like a force of nature save for that low run blocking. Is he worth it at the key LT position? Could he grow into a better RB role?

Who do you like?

Here’s my top pick after the draft. As you can see Samuels has a solid pass rushing style that will hopefully afford him nicely!

But let’s look at the stud

As you can see, Jeffries appears be be a nasty good OC that;s very well rounded. We interviewed him and he was very underrated and that was what really happened as well. Welcome to the team!

Stats

Offensive

Passing

QB Moya – 364 of 562, 4023, 27:14, 91.5 rating

Not a bad year. 2nd in yards, too many picks.
Rushing

RB Curry – 304 for 1359, 4.47 ypc, 7 scores

2nd in yards, 5th in scores, no All Pro.

Receiving

Shout out to Tito who won All Pro as the #2 WR on the squad! He was 4th in yards! Shelton was fine as a rookie with 578 yards and 3 scores, but I like more from starting TE moving forward.

Blocking

This was a much worse year in the KRB context. Wow. Witcher led my team with just 28 KRB. Wow. Rookie Jeffries was with 25 KRB and just 4 sacks allowed. Good rookie year!

Special Teams

K Ramirez – 35 of 37, Long of 51, 41 of 41 PAT

Great year K!

P Bennett – 92 for 46.5 and 40 in 20

Strong year sophomore. Great 20%.

CB McIntyre – 1 KR RET TD

WR McCarthy led my team in 21 special teams takes

Defensive

Goodwin led my team in tackles again. Dunn notched a solid 11 sacks and rookie Samuels grabbed me 7. We’ll need to build on that. Dunn led the league in blocked passes with 13. Hank’s 9 sacks was a much better number! Good stuff WLB!

Pass Coverage

Here you can see that Montgomery led my team with just 3 picks. Bad year for picks, but Montgomery had 11 pas def. Rookie Byrnes had a TON of KRB with 17. He was 3rd most in the league.
