I'm more and more convinced that D1 is El Paso.

Having trouble with most of the others, did some searching last night to no avail. I still think B2 is likely Denver though.

Does anyone have a count of which cities we have identified and which we haven't? It appears that we've reached the point where we nailed all the easy ones, we may now have to start guessing.

Total so far is $4,500. You have found the word "San" and still need to find "Carmen" and "Diego" to win the $50,000 grand prize. |

have to say I'm drawing a blank on the others, and we may have to just guess. D2 and 3 look familiar but I can't place them. B2 looks like it might be some place out west-though I'm not sure its Denver like Path thinks. Maybe Salt Lake City?

Yeah, Denver was just a guess so I haven't pushed it much. SLC would certainly be a possibility and now that you mention it I know that Provo has mountains nearby as well, though that city pictured looks too large to be Provo. I thought Pittsburgh for C3 for awhile since it kind of looks like the view of the skyline from over by the stadiums, but my recollection was that the bridge over the river was yellow so that's why I didn't mention it before. The problem with D2 and D3 is that they look like Anycity USA.

I think none of us wants to guess wrong at this stage. That's my impression of why we're all quiet the past couple days. I've been randomly thinking of cities to look at but haven't hit on anything that would give me a better idea than has been put out there already as of yet.

Exactly, I think we are all afraid of screwing up. Seems like we've got about as much as we can out of this challenge, so time to start making smart guesses and see how we do. |

You added a paltry $4,500 to the pot in this mission. Seemed to be some wasted guesses here. The mole must've been pleased with this result. Below are the answers for each city and the dollar amount or word that was behind each panel:
The final mission, mission 12, will begin soon. Stay tuned. |

I thought of Tokyo and Denver, but would have had them in the wrong places. Moscow we probably should have gotten. The rest would have needed to be very lucky guesses.

Mission #12: Wiki Trails to You
Your final task is timed. If you complete your task in less than 1 hour, you will receive $100,000. For every hour that passes, $2,500 is subtracted for the amount you win. Your task is to post a valid wikipedia-chain from any entry starting with the letter "A" to any entry starting with the letter "Z" with each link in the chain being an entry beginning with the subsequent letter of the alphabet. A link to the next entry is valid if there is a link to the next entry in the body of the current entry. The starting entry must start with the letter "A" and must be location on the planet earth (proper name--capitalized). The other entries do not need to be locations. Posting an entire valid chain in this thread and getting the approval of BOTH other team members is required to stop the timer. Your time begins NOW! |

You may work on a chain separately from the others, if you'd like. You don't have to cooperate in making the chain in any way. The only thing that requires others is confirming a finished chain.

So to make sure I understand, we post links to words or phrases starting with each letter of the alphabet, but we have to be able to follow those links one to the next withing the body of the preceding link?

right. you can just post the name of the entry, an actual link is not necessary.
You can work together, separately, whatever, but the end result must be the complete chain in a post approved by the other two members to stop the clock. The clock is still ticking right now in fact. Down to $95,000 already. Last edited by MJ4H : 11-10-2008 at 09:38 PM. |

OK guys, I think the X is going to suck the most. Finding an X that leads to Y and Z and also a W that leads to that X is giving me fits.

If you decide to as a group, you can submit the longest chain you have and I will penalize $5000 for each letter short you are.
And just as a note, I personally know of at least one path from W through Z. Last edited by MJ4H : 11-11-2008 at 08:45 AM. |

I've got a chain through W...only missing the last 3.
