Since there's no cultists among us yet, should we instead take bets on who will go insane first?

Well, let's get started then.

If i recall correctly, it's traditional to say "I am not a Cultist." What do you say in a game where everyone starts out clean?

Every time a train passes through Thurmond you feel something deep in what some might optimistically call your soul. It’s a bit sooty with a lifetime of use by the sort of people that live in Thurmond. The roar of the train follows the herald of a whistle, and then the train rounds the last hill. It pulls into the town and stops to unload flotsam and jetsam. The detritus of modern life. People and parcels fall away from the mighty engine like leeches off a dead carcass.

What really strikes you about Thurmond is the nestling between the bosoms of earth, bound to each other by the tether of the New River. The Appalachian hills and you have a lot in common. You are both old, past your prime, and have seen a lot in your day. All of you were once younger, firmer, happier. It might once have been a transparent joy covering a field of fetid foulness that clogs your sinful heart. That veneer has since been stripped away, leaving naught but the dregs of what once could be called human. But now, is merely the shadow thereof.

Thurmond is at the crossroads of modernity, with steel train over steel track still bright and gleaming at night time under the twinkling moon.

As you pause at the glistening reflected starshine, you suddenly hear a soul-rending male scream that staggers everybody within roughly a half mile away. All you move out and gather to see what made that sound.

You arrive at large rock, about the size of a house, bent in a rough triangular shape by the glaciers that once ruled here and left behind these calling cards. This was a proud rock, and it did not bend easily. Long gashes of ice are still able to be made out in the moonlight thousands of years later.

As you peer closer, you spy a hand of someone handing over-top the rock. All you can make out is a palm and five fingers.

A band of seventeen of you climbs the rock to witness what made that noise. It was a man, and what he cried was obviously more than any death-knell you have previously encountered. It had the mark of the loss of innocence, the loss of sanity in it. Staring at you is a roughly hexagonal hole that is stabbed into the center of the heart. Where the heart once was, there is nothing but blacked flesh, and no blood is on or around the wound or body.

You look at the face and recognize the person. You bring the body back to the morgue for tomorrow, but all of you are frightened by what you witnessed here. It was something beyond normal ken. It was something seditious and vile.

You have all lost 1 Corruption Point.

Jacob Typer has died

Night One has Ended, Day One has begun

Instructions for Task One will be given in the morning. Because there is no lynch tomorrow, I am moving it up to an early evening deadline – more info will follow later.

Day One Task:

Today you are going to investigate the death and person of Jacob Typer. Who was he? Who wanted him dead? How did he die?

Day One Task - Research Death of Jacob Typer

6 units of Researching papers at Library and what passes for courthouse
6 units of Interviewing other people
6 units of Investigating physical area for clues

All of these tasks count as investigation takes for a Detective, and for today, any Detective doing work on any of these will count double.

Wow, we did a pretty darn good job spreading out class selections without coordinating.

I recommend we have all our antiquarians search the library since that seems to be up their alley moreso than interviewing people or investigating a crime scene, unless it could be useful to have one at the crime scene in case something old there is found.

Should we send a soldier to each destination in case a battle is a possibility or maybe just focus them on the non-library locations since those seem like a better possibility for combat? (especially the scene of the crime)

Research papers at library and what passes for courthouse

I don't know what happened, Jacob, but hopefully it won't put you off of WErewolf. In a regular game we honestly wouldn't have voted you off day one, we always give the new guys a bit of rope. You just stumbled into an oddity.
