Well, the thing Montreal worried about in W9 happened in W10 as Halifax absolutely annihilates them. Montreal costs themselves a clear opportunity to take top seed in the league and for the second year in a row will enter the playoffs as the wild card team.

Both top teams are looking vulnerable heading into the playoffs.

Halifax appears to have a lot to build on next year.

Season 2 Off Season

Here's a word document that lists off-season developments for Season 2.

The big stories were:
-some hints of disfunction starting to emerge in Ottawa as player egos start to get inflated.
-Vancouver "lucking" into possibly the best player in the draft with pick #7 and a huge upgrade at QB.
-Edmonton QB Zaire Willis looking like he's ready to make another leap while there are worrying signs of a possible sophomore slump with QB Mark Harry in Halifax.

I'm stilling thinking about whether I want to tackle a GUI version of this for my next project. I obviously love the engine quite a bit - but running through a couple of off-seasons has been a lot of work and I'm not "sold" on the idea it will be worth the effort - a D6 based progression system feels pretty limited.

That said, I basically had the GUI "done" except for the match engine on the first version of the tools and this project cleaned up the match engine - so I would just have to zip up two halves I already made. The offseason logic would take some work but it's not overly complex....

Will probably play out a third season more slowly and dabble in other projects before committing.

Well...will sim a couple games here to see if I can rekindle the good feelings for this project.

Week 1 Game 1 is a rematch of Season 2's semi-final between Vancouver and Winnipeg. Vancouver has reloaded with star rookie QB Leelannee Haynes while Winnipeg stayed fairly stable with a few defensive acquisitions.

Winnipeg gets some regular season revenge!

Ottawa's dominance could be slipping after a tumultuous off-season and loads of regression on defence. John Gantt will be trying to keep the pieces together for one more season.

Saskatoon lost both RB's in the off-season as star RB Malachi Wilson departed for Halifax. Saskatoon will get a chance to see if their newly drafted backfield can help them improve on last year's 3-7 record.

Halifax seemed to be a team on the rise - but a disappointing off-season may balance the optimism a bit. They still have QB Mark Harry who enters his second season as a key piece of the offence.

Saskatoon gets some revenge of defector Wilson in the opener.

An uncharacteristic and unexplainable bad year for Regina helped them to improve areas that weren't even real weaknesses. QB Elroy Dawson is ready to seek redemption and will be protected by #1 pick overall - OL Thanos Parastadidis (2-2-2).
