The first question would be...which Roosevelt? Teddy or Franklin? First thought would be FDR, but did he really have a heyday? More of a heydecade. When I think of womanly ideal, I think of Marilyn Monroe or Jane Russell, but those are a little too late for Roosevelt's time. Also, according to enigma, we are looking for a concept, not a particular woman. What was the ideal woman in the 30's-40's? The early 1900's?

So, we have baseball-related answers for exactly half of the 14 clues... and seem to be "striking out" with the rest.

Perhaps this means that there is a second theme buried in there -- that maybe the other 7 clues are in totally different category, somehow?


Plus, the X-and-O patterns are still wholly mysterious, as nearly as I can tell. Maybe that's a clue to which "set" each clue belongs to? Or some kind of device to use for ordering things properly?

I am still stumped here too, and what is really getting to me is that every time I go back and try to use the XO clues I am struck by the fact that there is not a 1 to 1 ratio between clues and kiss kiss patterns. There is a kiss kiss pattern in between each clue, but there is not one at the end.

I have no idea what that tells us but it is bugging the hell out of me.

The only thing I can come up with for this one is that earlier this year there was an A&E special about King Charles II called 'The Last King'. Charles had 14 illegitimate children and in this special, the role of Charles was played by Rufus Sewell - Hence, Joe Sewell, the Hall of Fame shortstop.

Now - the trick is to find what the players represent (or, conversely, what represents the players) and to find out what purpose the lovey dovey lines serve. This is where there is a little room for misinterpretation. Stick with the obvious as much as possible.

I know I've brought it up multiple times before, but, remember when looking at the XXO binary stuff... there is not a 1 to 1 correlation between hall of fame names and XXO binary clues. there is 1 more name than there is binary set.

That leads me to believe it's not based on something as simple as correlating binary # to type of award or anything else that would be natural to shoot for here
