Ravens O-Line doing a good job giving Flacco plenty of time.

Somebody should tell Jim that he should call some screens to stop the blitzkrieg to his offensive line.

It's crazy how much one guy out makes a difference. RG Snyder is out and Chilo Rachel has shown why he was benches after week 2. Coincidentally, that was when the Niners started to become consistent on offense.

+1. The only good thing about them losing is that it keeps Schwartz quiet. Lions 2-4 since being undefeated with @ N.O. up next. The good news is the Lions are 4-1 on the road.

Yet another reason to do it. He just seems insanely stubborn right now. He has refused to simply suck it up and call the screens. Ravens have been able to come at them all night long without any fear of getting dumped on. |

The refs seemed to be pretty awful tonight. The Niners had the benefit of a few very generous calls - the illegal block in the back on the long punt return that wasn't, the spot on the Crabtree first down (like EagleFan said, I think he got it, but it was nowhere near the spot he actually got), and I'm certain there was another one. The only one that seemed to go against them was a huge one though. I think that the chop block call on Gore was ridiculous (negating a 75 yard touchdown pass). I also think that if Rachal doesn't come over and put his hands on the defender's back after he was already going down, the flag isn't thrown.
All in all, the inspired play of Baltimore's D-Line and the insipid play of the 49er's O-Line were the story of the game. I have no idea why Jim decided not to throw a few screen passes to slow down their rush - even a couple more of the bubble screens that they threw would have been nice, as they seemed to be marginally successful. Once the Ravens started getting into the backfield, Alex Smith started getting happy feet and was gunshy in the pocket even when he had time. |

In the Dolphins Cowboys game the Cowboys were on the 20 yard with 01:52 left.
Surely the Dolphins would have had a greater chance of winning if they had just let Murray rumble into the end zone and give themselves 100 seconds to win it? The success of <40 yard field goals must be over 90% (in the end it ended up being 28 yards which must be around 95%) Last edited by eiskrap : 11-25-2011 at 03:11 AM. |

Or....SCORE AT LEAST 1 TD ON FOUR TRIPS IN THE RED ZONE. Frustrating. I am tired of having a coach who is content with field goals.

What have we learned?
The Lions are NOT for real. They will finish 8-8. Suh is crazy. Like batshit crazy. The Niners are probably not for real either. They failed their first challenge and have benefited from a weak schedule. Shiet, they will probably finish 13-3, too. But that O-Line is more suspect than McManus, Keaton, Fenster, Verbal and Hockney. |

Opponents' Records:
Green Bay Packers: 48-63 (.405) New Orleans Saints: 46-55 (.455) Dallas Cowboys: 52-61 (.460) San Francisco 49ers: 56-56 (.500) Chicago Bears: 54-49 (.524) Detroit Lions: 64-49 (.566) Atlanta: 51-51 (.500) Of the division leading teams, NONE have played a more difficult schedule than the 49ers, and it's not particularly close. The Saints' schedule in particular is freakishly bad - if you take out the one Packer game, their opponent win % drops to .396. I'm really tired of people saying how weak the 49ers schedule has been. In 5 more weeks, when they finish playing the NFC West, sure bitch about their schedule. Right now? They've had THE most difficult schedule of the first place teams. The only teams that should be bitching about the schedule are the ones who are in Green Bay's division. The 49ers lost by 10 points to what is possibly the best team in the AFC, after traveling to the east coast on 4 days of rest. Alex Smith has been sacked 30 times - 9 of them yesterday. It's not as if the 49er offensive line is completely atrocious, they just had a ridiculously bad game. /49errant Last edited by Vince, Pt. II : 11-25-2011 at 11:36 AM. |

The NFL really needs bye weeks before these Thursday games, NO ONE should be playing a game 4 days after playing the previous one. And most especially not having to travel across country for it.

I think they should try that 18-week schedule again giving each team two bye weeks. Fans didn't like it before but I think with the advent of fantasy football, it's not as big of a deal. I don't mind the bye weeks anymore since I get 6 hours of RedZone channel. Plus it can give more flexibility scheduling teams with Thursday games, more rest to players, and even add an extra week to the TV contract. But they haven't shown much interest in rules that could improve the overall play on the field which is odd. I've always felt they should make it easier for teams to keep extra players on the roster, particularly quarterbacks so that they can develop in a system. |

That O-lineman went at his knees after the play was over on the line (Rodgers had thrown the ball out wide) To quote Chris Rock, "I'm not saying he should have killed him, but I understand." Frankly, the suspension he's likely to get will be worth it if he's allowed to sit up in the coaching booth and threaten Linehan if Stafford doesn't throw deep to CJ at least 3 times a half. |

Not that it matters too much the Bucs were driving late with no timeouts inside 2 minutes....it's either 1st down or 4th and inches....and Freeman wants to spike the ball to stop the clock but instead has to run a play because the ref's won't check the spot.
If the red flag is still in the coaches hand, he challenges that, but the NFL says the ref's will challenge those types of call...but no challenge? Also, I thought the coaches were allowed to do a 1st down check, but I guess in the last 2 minutes they are not allowed to? In any event, what's the rule here? |

Damn, the Bengals need to learn how to play the first half like they do in the second half. Dalton has like 5 4th quarter comebacks this year now, but they should be winning more easily than they did today.

Yeah, the offense looked very good throughout, but the defense was struggling with sweeps and tosses in the first half. That and Clements falling twice on the Browns first drive is why they marched down field so quickly. He was at fault for the TD pass and the long pass McCoy had along the sideline.
