Stats:

Jack Yoo went 276 of 426 for 3540 yards, a 26:12 TD:INT ratio and a 99.3 QB Rating. He fumbled again nine times this year. He added a rushing TD.

Tyrus Torres rushed for 1440 yards on 342 carries for a 4.21 YPC average. He had 8 scores on the ground. He added 3 scores in the air to go along with his 424 yards receiving.

WR Harris Powell had his best year with 1205 yards, 11 TDs and 67 catches. Jerry Reeves was right behind him in TDs with 9, but only had 862 yards, which is down to my mind. Simply put, Reeves needs to step it up next year, because both him, and Powell have proved they are 1200 yard receivers.

No player had any returns for scores this year.

In punting, Gomez had the league’s third highest punting average again, and got 34 of 77 punts inside the 20.

Sigman only missed 6 FGs and no PATs this year.

Robbie Ramon had 6 more picks this year, disproving my prediction about him. Lee Kinney led the team with 14 passes defensed.

Turnbull had 96 solo tackles, and DT Cedric Garrard was second. Garrard was also second on the team with 6 sacks.

Also with sacks was William Caldwell with 7.5, and Peter Hill with 5.

Orlando Patchet had 43 KRB. We allows 47 sacks. I don’t think this number is ever going to drop, and its no wonder Yoo is fumbling all of the time.

Caldwell led the team with 5 FF, SS Robinson had 4, with Garrard and Turnbull each had 3.

Team Awards:

Offensive MVP: WR Harris Powell. With 1200+ yards, 11 TDs, and all league honors, Harris Powell fulfilled the trust I placed in him when I made him our top overall selection. He has gotten better each year, and my ideal is that he gets 1400 yards next year, and Harris gets back to 1200. I really don’t even bother with any other receiving outlets besides Powell, Reeves and Torres.

Defensive MVP: DT Cedric Garrard. Ramon could have gotten this award for a second year with six picks, but instead I am choosing t reward the hard work of 42/42 DT Cedric Garrard. With 6 sacks, second on the team in solo tackles, and 3 FF, Garrard simply had a great year, especially for the DT position.

Special Teams MVP: P Tracy Gomez. Our first repeat winner is none other than one of the best punters in the league. He still has it, and he was probably third in all league honors, so lets give it up, once again, for Tracy Gomez.

Heart Award: C Orlando Patchet. Nomrally I might award one of my lower roster players for really stepping it up, and I considering giving Garrard this award too, but I decided that this could also apply to a position that doesn’t get a lot of love either. Garrard’s 43 KRB were fourth most among offensive linemen this year. He could have been all league C, but that was given to a player ith one less KRB and one less pancake block than Patchet (also two less sacks allowed at 5 vs Patchet’s 7).

Next Year? Well, I honestly expect that 10-6 is about as good as this team will be, so I hope to get 10-6 again, make it to the playoffs and get hot there.

I offer my OC another five year with us. He agrees and comes back to us.

Ticket prices are increased a tiny little bit.

I sign all but 9 of our players, and that took a while.

No hold outs this year, so let’s go camping.

When I first drafted this team, I was pretty happy with it. I think I did a good job drafting, I got some of the top players at several positions and I think I got lucky on some players, like Jack Yoo. Despite us going 10-6 last year, I don’t see here where we are going to dominate the league or continue to de really well. The only thing we have is a very high cohesion rate.

Since I’m disappointed in my team, I hope you won’t mind if I quick sim the season and see what happens? I put my coaches in charge of decisions like depth chart and game plan and just sim the season.

We go 3-1 in the pre-season.

After week 2, Torres goes down for a few games, and I stop the quick simming. I move our FB to our starting RB position, not trusting my backup RBs. We win the first game without him. That puts us at 2-1 on the season.

We crush the winless Cardinals 38-13 at our place to go up to 3-1 and Torres is back. That games featured two interceptions for returns, one by Ramon and the other by Turnbull. My coaches are trying out Bart Ramirez as starter at OT and so far, he’s doing a better job than the Dotson he replaced. We’ll see if that continues.

We edge out the Giants in OT 27-24 and I’m amazed that Sigman could even find his shoes, let alone kick a game winning kick. Says here it was an 18 yarder, no wonder…

The winless are hammered by us at home 38-10. Nice to get those good feeling games out of the way. Torres ran for all five scores. Guy ran for 5 TDs and he isn’t even OPofW. It is a record though, 5 rushing TDs in one game.

It was a costly game. DE Butch Van Pelt is out for 63 weeks with a torn patellar tendon. He had gotten five starts this year in trying to find a spark on my DLine. Ah well. Patchet and Kinney are out for a few weeks as well.

We then scrub the next two games before a 34-17 win over the Redskins to knock us back to the win column at 6-3. We then follow that with a vague win over the Eagles 10-3. We win one, we drop one, we win two, we lose two, we end up 10-6 again.

This time, we won the NFC East. We are the fourth seed

The 2011 NFC Playoffs:

9-7 Bears at 11-5 Bucs
11-5 Rams at the 10-6 Cowboys

St. Louis 21, Dallas 31

The info:

TE Leon Reynolds caught a 7 yard pass on the opening drive.
WR Lawrence Ramsey caught an 18 yard pass in the second quarter
TE Rasmusen caught a 20 yard TD pass in the third
Torres ran it in from 5 yards in the fourth

A TD in every quarter, and none of my regulars caught TDs.

We missed two Field Goals (Thanks Sigman!).

Time for the Second Round:

11-6 Dallas Cowboys at the 15-1 Detroit Lions
12-5 Tampa at 13-3 Seattle

We played Seattle earlier this year and were shut out. I have no hope f beating a 15-1 team. I gameplan to be very aggressive, absolutely opening it up.

Dallas 24, Detroit 30. In overtime.

As I thought. We would lose, it was just closer than I thought.

Seattle loses to Detroit 21-31.

Detroit edges Baltimore 24-23.

Stats:

Jack Yoo has just 3002 yards passing with a 15/10 ratio and an 86.6 QB Rating. This was a pretty bad season for our passing offense.

Torres has 1408 yards rushing on 323 carries for 16 rushing TDs. Third in the league is rushing TDs. Jack Fling, our backup RB had 6 TDs on the ground. Even Fletcher had one.

Jerry Reeves had 874 yards and 2 TDs. Harris Powell had 5 TDs and 795 yards. Alright, next season, no quick sim (although stopped early). I don’t think the AI knows how to throw. We throw the ball this year, and we’re probably 12-4 at least.

Sigman just missed four FGs.

Again, Gomez was third in the league is punting average. He continues to be a weapon.

Yay for Caldwell getting ten sacks, and boo to Turnbull for crapping it up in the center. Yay Garrard for seven sacks and leading the team in FF with another 3. SLB Eric Haslett should get some credit for his sacktacular year as well. Even Hill is steady with 5.5 sacks.

Ramon only had 2 picks this year, but Robinson had 6. He also led our team in passes defensed with 15, while Ramon was second with 12.

Team Awards:

Offensive Player of the Year RB Tyrus Torres: With our passing game taking a giant step back and our blockers forgetting how to tie their shoes, Tyrus still gets his yards and notched a ton of TDs this year. Good job!

Defensive Player of the Year: SS Walt Robinson. He led the team in solo tackles. That’s good. He also led the team with 6 picks. That’s good too. He also led the team with 15 passes defensed. Also good. He even notched a pair of sacks. I love versatile players like Robsinson is turning out to be.

Speacial Teams Player of the Year: K Fernando Sigman. He went 24 of 28 and didn’t miss a PAT. For him, that’s absolutely amazing.

Heart Award: SS Walt Robinson. This guy is a 43/43 rated SS picked in the 7th to be a backup and yet he dominated our team in three categories, and notched sacks to boot. No way he doesn’t get cred here too

I was surprised that my hope of going 10-6 worked, especially with our crummy’s team performance It seems like our team took a step backward, and yet we had the same record, won the division, and won our first playoff game. Still, we need to get back to form – lots of points by passing.

I submit a stadium renovation plan to add a bunch of boxes.

This is a costly FA year, because all of my players are now vested veterans. In other news, I extend Harris Powell’s contract by five years. I extend G Vinny Malone by three.

My stadium proposal passed.

No holdouts this year either.

We finish the preseason 0-4.

We begin the season with a 35-17 victory over the Giants. Normally we lose our opening game then do well, I hope the opposite doesn’t happen this year. We follow that with a 35-13 win over the AFC Super Bowl team last year (Ravens). Next up, one of the powers in the NFC the Seahawks host us. We lose 28-29. Seattle scored with 1:13 left in the game, and then got a 2 point conversion, so it was a good game, especially since we were away. We had a good special teams play. Gomez punted the ball 55 yard and then it was retuned 6 yards, until Jack Fling tackled the ball carrier and forced the fumble. TE Leon Reynolds grabbed the fumble and ran it is for a score. We follow that by crushing Carolina 41-14.

We are 3-1 and frankly, looking like top talent. We’ve scored 35, 35, 28 and 41. In the first three games we didn’t even kick a Field Goal.

23-16 at Tampa Bay, 27-3 over Washington, and then Jack Yoo goes down to an injured hammy at questionable. Return unknown. Start him or no?

We are 5-1. I feel that we can give a few starts to McElroy and rest Yoo.

McElroy’s first start is on the road at 2 win New York, and what do you know, Sigman hits five for five Field Goals including a 54 yarder. We win the game 29-24. Miss tow FGs, as Sigman is wont to do, and we lose that game.

Bad News Time: Our good Center Orlando Patchet has torn his bieceps muscle and will be out for 16 weeks. Nasty. I don’t know if that is an injury that will make him worse or no.

In good news, Jack Yoo is back after missing just the one game.

We then lose 17-23 in OT to the 5-3 Saints to go to 6-2 on the first half.

Our losses are by one point and then in OT. Not bad. Can we keep it up?

With 33 seconds left, we kick a FG to defeat the now 6-3 Falcons 24-21. If we can keep taking down the major teams, then we may have a shot later.

23-3 over the two win Eagles.
BYE WEEK
LOSS 20-24 to the 8-3 Steelers
33-14 vs Detroit
24-21 vs Cincinnati

Van Pelt is back from his serious injury and will be starting for us this week as twoof my Des are out. We rushed him back, and can only hope he doesn’t reinjure his knee.

28-17 over the 4-10 Redskins
LOSS 24-20 vs the 10-5 Browns
25-20 over the seven win Eagles, who went on a hot streak.

At 12-4, we won the NFC East, and we have the #2 spot going into the playoffs. Why the jump in our record? The rest of the division sucks. No team is at .500. During a down year for the divison, we end up with an extra few victories.

NFC Championship:

12-4 Dallas at 13-3 Minnesota.

This will be interesting. Do we have the offensive talent to keep up with the Vikings? We have beaten some good teams this year, we’ve lost some close ones. Are we better than our record suggests? Is Minnesota worse? Can we pull this off?

Dallas 24, Minnesota 26

Apparently we cannot pull it off.

Ah well.

Super Bowl

Minnesota vs Jets

Minnesota 35
Jets 55

Glad I didn’t play the Jets.

Our best year. Will we improve next year, and make it all the way?

Stats:

Yoo started 15 games but went down in one. He threw for 3433 yards, 21:13 ratio, and a 95.7 QB Rating. In McElroy’s sub and start, he got a 70.2 rating.

Torres ran 364 times for 1427 yards and 16 TDs. Jack Fling ran 134 times for 590 yards and 6 TDs.

Harris Powell led the team with 1415 yards and 7 TDs on 72 catches. Reeves had a very bad year, though he was injured and only started 13 games. He had 669 yard and 5 TDs. 8 players caught TDs as Yoo really spread it around this year. Torres had 82 yards and 4 TDs in the air.

In returns, Preston Segreaves had a PR for a TD. His PR average was seventh in the NFL among qualifiers. Torres was 11th in the NFL among qualifiers for average yards per KO return.

Sigman was 27 of 29 and didn’t miss a PAT. Gomez’s average rose to 48.2, his highest ever. Still third highest in the NFL.

All told, our special teams were simply amazing. Want proof? TE Leon Reynolds was tied for second in the NFL in special teams tackles with 32.

This was a disappointing year for our defense. Turnbull, although out for two games, notched 74 solo tackles and that led the team.

Caldwell was out for three games and still managed to notch 9 sacks. Hill was out for 7 games and had 5.5 sacks.

Ramon led the team with 5 picks. Safeties Kinney and Robinson each had 3. Robinson led the team with 17 Passes Defensed, while Ramon was second with 11.

Ramon is one off the current pick leader for the NFL, who has 29 overall picks, while Ramon has 28.

Dennis Dotson led our team with 31 KRB.

Backup safety Kerry Anderson had 4 FF. Haslett, Robinson and Fling on special teams each had 3.

Team Awards:

Offensive Player of the Year: RB Tyrus Torres Powell and Torres are the good players here. Who gets the nod this year? Torres had 16 rushing TDs, and 4 in the air, for a 20 TD season. That’s worthy of an award. Add almost 1900 yards of offense and the great return man to the pot, and you get a great player.

Defensive Player of the Year: DE William Caldwell. Despite a year in which he was out for 3 games, he still led the team with sacks at 9, led the team with hurries at 19, and was second with 5 passes blocked. In a year when the defense was down, he wasn;t.

Special Teams Player of the Year: FL Preston Segreaves. I could give this to Goemz again, Sigman again, Segreaves, Torres or Reynolds, and they would all work. Segreaves had a great year in returning, not just because of the score, but also because of the great return average.

Heart Award: TE Leon Reynolds. He tied for second in special teams tackles. He recovered a fumble for a TD on special teams. He caught two in the air as a backup TE. He had the best KRB:KRO ratio on the team with 5 KRB out of 12 KRO. He was simply in a lot of places this year, and I want to reward that.

Next Year?

Well, frankly, I think this year was as good as it gets. I doubt we could ever improve, unless it involved our defense doing better and Reeves getting back up to par.

Shane Bronson will be suspended for this year for a violation of the weapons policy. Damn. Lose a LB and we will have to make a lot of moves.

I make some contract moves. Extend a lot of contracts.

We now have a problem. Take a look at my QB. Jack Yoo is rated 40/40, McElroy 41/41.

Is this a Byron Leftwich David Garrard type situation, where the backup stays about the same but the starter gets a little worse each year?

I’m started to get a little tired of the dynasty. Same people day in and day out. I’m going to quick sim the season. I may not ge the good results I otherwise would like, but I can finish this dynasty. I’ve written 86 pages of Word. I’m sure you can understand me getting a little bit tied of talking about Jack Yoo and Turnbull and whatnot.

4-0 in the preseason. My coaches think we should start McElroy, so we will do so. II take a look at my happiness, and I realize that I have to keep balancing the playes and their desires. I can’t let my coaches quick sim the season or else all Hell’d break lose.

I will be faster simming, if that makes sense. No looking at stats or anything after games. Just sim and move, sim and move, sim and move. Fix the depth charts. Sim, Sim Sim.

I’m beginning to think that McElroy was the missing ingredient. Despite Yoo’s demands and starts in three games, McElroy has started five, and we are 8-0. Even after having a crappy fifth game with a 68.0 QB Rating, his rating dropped to second in the league at 104. He is staying in as much as I can maneuver.

I then turn right around and lose. We win three more. I’m basically giving Yoo the easy games, like the upcoming 4-8 KC Chiefs. McElroy just took us on the road and won in an 8 win stadium. There is no similarlty to how they are playing, McElroy is lights out, and Yoo is adequate. Yoo still only won against KC 21-19.

I should give Yoo the final start with our team 14-1, but we have the bye, and McElroy is on pace to possibly be an All League QB, if I can get him enough starts to qualify. He stays in.

The 2013 NFC Playoffs

11-5 Detroit at 10-6 Arizona
12-4 Minnesota at 10-6 New Orleans

During the season, we beat Arizona, Minnesota and Detroit. I’d prefer New Orleans to win over Minnesota since we lost to the Vikings in the NFC Championship last year.

Detroit wins 17-14. New Orleans wins 17-14 as well.

Week 2:

11-5 Detroit at 15-1 Dallas
10-6 New Orleans at 12-4 Green Bay

I’d prefer New Orleans to go the distance to the NFC Championship, since only Green Bay beat us in the regular season, although it was close, and this time we’d be at our house. I expect Green Bay to win, however, and swing on by Dallas.

We win 27-20. New Orleans wins 17-13. It’s like a perfect storm of destiny. Who’d we lose to the playoffs last year? Minnesota, and they’re out. Who’d we lose to the in regular season this time? Green Bay, and they’re out. Destiny awaits.

The Broncos were 11-5 in the AFC and got knocked out. There were six teams with 10-6 records in the AFC, and one didn’t even make it to the playoffs. Cincinnati is just as good as any other team, but no team truly dominated the conference like we did the NFC? Will that mean they are overmatched? Or does destiny end here for there intrepid Cowboys.

Fulcher 31 yard FG
Kostinko 4 ya TD catch

Yeah, we kicked their asses that bad. The halftime score was 2-17 us, and then we didn’t even let them score in the second half.

Remember when I said that a smart GM would have waited until the 5th round to take their QB and then grab McElroy, and used him as their starter? Well, I was not just a dumb GM, drafting Yoo instead of getting somebody else and going with McElroy, but I was dumb for leaving him on the sidelines for so long. He didn’t do very well his first year, so I just left him on the bench thinking he wasn’t better than Yoo, until Yoo kept busting and busting. Remember at the beginning of the season I said this might be a Leftwich and Garrard thing, well, it really looks more similar now. Think of what I could have been doing with McElroy at the helm ALL THIS TIME. I wasted away this dynasty.

Awards:

QB Dan McElroy, Super Bowl MVP
RB Tyrus Torres, All League First Team
OT Dennis Dotson, All League Second Team

Dan McElroy was robbed of All League honors, you’ll see in a moment. Blasted Jack Yoo demanded to get starts all of the time, and this is what happens.

Stats:

QB McElroy: 193 of 279 for 2570 yards, 23:8 TD:Int ratio, and a 113.6 QB rating. He led the league in QB Rating and completion percent with 69.2. By comparison, remember that Jack Yoo started against weaker competition in five starts. 76 of 113 for 780 yards, 7:4 TD:Int ratio, and a 67.3 completion rate. 92.8 rating. After his first game, where he threw for two picks and 100 yrds, he looked awful, but he was able to come back against some lousy competition.

RB Tyrus Torres: 369 rushes for 1648 yards, 15 TDs. The 4.47 ypc is his highest. Fling diminished with less carries, a 3.03 ypc, and just 3 rushing TDs, so Torres was so much better made Fling a less attractive option. He caught 7 TDs in the air, on 374 yards.

WR Harris Powell: 1079 receiving yards, 8 TDs. We know Powell has the goods, and McElroy didn’t start five games, cutting into Powell’s stats.

WR Jerry Reeves: 989 yards, 8 TDs. Again, good production here, and his stats rose for the first time in a couple of years. If McElroy gets more starts, I expect Reeves’s numbers to keep climbing.

Six players had two receiving TDs or more, including our FB, TE, and backup WR. McElroy’s ball distribution is much better,

Preston Segreaves was second in the league in PR average despite not getting a score. 12.1 yards PR average.

With 28.7 yards per KR, Torres led the league as the best KR man, despite the fact that he also did not score a TD.

Gomez had the leagues second best P average.

Sigman made the fourth most FGs in the league

Turnbull led the team with 92 solo tackles. He missed three starts because the backup MLB was whining. He also got 4.5 sacks. He also led the team with 6 FF.

Formerly injured Van Pelt, he of the major torn ACL led the team with 7.5 sacks Caldwell and Garrard each had 4.5.

SS Robinson and CB Ramon led the team with 7 picks each. However, CB Augustson and FS Kinney tied the team with 15 passes defensed each. Nice to see everybody doing well.

OT Dotson, who made the All league team, only had 33 KRB, 5 pancake blocks and 5 sacks allowed.

Five players had 3 FF, which is a good nose for the ball: Garrard, Augustson, Buchanon, Domenici (on special teams), and Van Pelt.

Turnbull and Garrard each recovered fumbles for TDs. Augustson returned a pick for a TD.
