I took the baby nuggets in for their first vet visit yesterday and they're all good. They have ear mites and infections, but no worms or fleas or anything.

11 weeks old in the top picture, 15 weeks old (a few days ago) in the bottom. They're growing so fast!

My goobers are getting huge. They just had their last shots a couple days ago and have been in the vet a half-dozen times for all kinds of crap (giardia, a swollen and limping elbow) in the early weeks, but they are doing great these days.

I make them let me hold them like babies.

How are your kitties, Radii?

Heh. No idea this thread existed. We're bringing our puppy home today. I guess I'll post a pic or 3 later.

So, first, this is what happened when we informed the 10yo a few weeks ago. Context: she has wanted a dog since she was around 3, but the 6yo was deathly afraid of even puppies up until 6 months or so ago.

She was so excited that she asked us to post the video. (Never would have posted a reaction like this without her consent.)

I accomplished a long-time goal of mine to get involved with senior dog fostering. In fact, in post #26 of this thread from way back in 2011, I posted a photo of my new dog at the time and stated my then-goal of pairing him with an older dog eventually. 9 years later, he's a young senior himself and doing great, and I've finally paired him with Lola, a 12-ish year old foster from a local rescue group I've been volunteering with since close to their inception. (we also did have my girlfriend's parents' senior greyhound living with us for a while until she passed away last year)

She's been on quite the journey to get here. She was in a high-kill LA shelter a few years ago, and has bounced around some fosters and failed adopters. One called her an "emotional vampire." Yes, she's a little needy, which is understandable, but she's already getting more confident and comfortable with the routine here on day 2. She's very happy to be here - it's tough to get a good photo of her awake because he's either active or asleep, no middle ground. That's her closer to the camera as Lucy looks on skeptically.

Senior dog fostering is a calling. I don't think I could do it. Good for you, and congratulations on the new family member.

That is great. I know I would never be able do it with older dogs. I grow too attached to them.

Regarding the neediness, it amazes me how attached dogs grow with their owners. I get it in the case of single dog families, the dog only has the family to bond with. We rescued our second dog last year and he prefers to be with the family rather than our first dog, he tries to be a 40 lbs. lap dog. Meanwhile our first dog is constantly trying to get him to play.

That's awesome, molson! Thanks for doing that!

I rescued my current dog, Scully, just over three years ago now. She was found as a stray. She was six months old when I got her. I just wanted a dog that could bond with me and, man, did I ever. From the moment I first brought her home until now, she's pretty much permanently attached to my side. She follows me everywhere I go. If someone else lets her inside, the first thing she does is come find me.

Whenever I travel for work, she stays downstairs and waits from me to come home. I've never had a dog quite this attached to me and I must admit that I love it. She's a great dog. She's good and friendly with others, but she's very much my dog and I am very much her human.

Meet Duncan!

Brought this guy home from a rescue Saturday. Lab/Sheppard mix. 3 months old and smart as hell. Great temperament. Really good with the kids and already getting good at the crate and needing to go out. Very few accidents. Been a learning curve with our 2 cats but we will get there.

The funny think is despite being tired this has been may be the best week we have had. Kids fighting less, doing better at school, less whining. It is as if he has brought a synergy to our family that we needed.

The only bad thing so far is he got caught in my laptop cord and yanked the whole thing off the island in the kitchen, but I got a new laptop out of it so not all terrible.

This is Chewie. I picked him up from the local animal shelter a couple weeks ago. Two years old, very friendly, loves to cuddle, and already owns the house He had an ulcer in his right eye when the shelter got him but it was treated and doesn't bother him.

I have never been able to get the attachment option to work. Finally just broke down and got an imgur account.

Ditto, I wasn't even aware there was an option for an attachment, and any time I want to post a picture here I have to find someplace it's posted online (or host it myself).

so it’s impossible to attach a picture regardless of length of service?

no more need to spend hours searching for quality porn. there is a great porn list for this case. i recommend https://pornsiteslist.me

Im not sure if I ever posted a picture of Otis.

Our puppy seems to have poor spatial awareness. He was turning around and slammed his head into a door frame. This ain't the first time. I think we need a concussion protocol in our house.

Or he just can't adjust to his rapid growth. He's doubled his weight in 2 months, is 4 months old now. His expected size chart keeps going up and up.

This guy's been with us for a few weeks. RIP Furniture. But he's remarkably calm and polite for an 11-month old Husky/Shepherd mix who has been returned to the shelter once or twice.

Definitely a new energy in the house after a stretch of senior fosters, and after my previous full-time keeper dog passed away in December. Getting back into the routine of long dog walks and hikes has been very good for my mental health.

Dude, did you steal my dog?

This dude just turned a year and is awesome, although he licks soooo much. Trying to figure out how to get him to warm up to people though. He loves me, my wife and our daughter, but barks at anyone else unless they're with a dog. Not aggressive, just scared.

I love seeing this thread bumped

Great to see you give a "double returned" dog a chance Molson. He's a handsome devil I'm sure those long walks are doing wonders for him too. Haven't come up with a name yet? Maybe Rip in honor of the furniture
