Reading the article (which is great), I'm actually struck by the fact that Garth Brooks isn't in the hall. He's sold more records than pretty much anyone but the Beatles and Elvis, I think. He pretty much pioneered the Country/Rock crossover, and from what little I've heard of country music these days, it all sounds like the crap that he used to throw out routinely in the late nineties.

You won't find a bigger Kanye fan than me; just saying that Eminem would be a 100 percent lock as well, while also being less likely to do/say something that would keep him out of the hall of fame for political reasons. |

Forever labeled a country artist. I think the emphasis on Grammys is going to hurt people like Britney. While entertaining on some level I guess, there's not a lot of technical goodness there.

I'd say The White Stripes will coast in.
Than maybe The Black Keys as well on the Indie / Alt / garage band front. The Black Keys still have some magic left in them. |

I wonder if they'd count his producing separately from his personal work.

I don't think it'd actually matter. The producer-ing would make him more of a lock, but his personal work already makes him a lock. He's arguably the most influential and trailblazing musician of the last decade (when his first album - The College Dropout - came out).
