Good morning all. Just checking in. I think my item is pretty self-explanatory based on its name.

Why is that? I am presuming we won't be able to tell a convert versus starting wolf. If this is the case, then we are going to be unable to tell villager info from wolf info in retrospect. |

Morning all. I certainly was invited to our meeting, but I'm eager to find out who was not. I agree with the sentiment that in these complex games we need to share information as much as we can. If we each try to play cowboy we'll probably end up frigging ourselves up. I am going to reread the rules and see if I can figure out what my item might do.

I wouldn't be so sure about not being able to tell in a game with rules and roles and items as wide open as this-I mean we don't even know with one possible exception-a vampire, what the evil roles are. |

As per my item, I haven't the foggiest what it would do. Think it might be one of those red herrings Abe was talking about, but I'm not sure yet, maybe info will present itself.

From a brief re-reading of the rules, I'd just like to point out you can pass your item to any person or any ROLE. It seems it would be very useful to use the role option early in the game when we have a lack of information.

What happens if we attempt to pass our item to a role that's not in the game? |

good catch there on the passing of items to a role-I certainly will be sending my item tonight now, and it might be a good idea for all my fellow non-roled lightbringers to do the same.

Hmm, that seems like an interesting way for us to figure out what roles are in/out of the game.

Would it disappear into the nether regions of your mind, or would the passer be told simply "this person does not exist in the game, so no pass has been committed"? Also, if an item is successfully passed, does the recipient know from whom he is receiving the item?

Makes sense as you are usually an early departure from these games. However, be careful in who you pass it to as anyone that is considered trusted by you is likely to become trusted by others and a key target of the wolves (if that makes sense). Therefore, your item could end up in wolf hands. In fact, it might make sense just to pass it to a role instead of a trusted person (but you probably knew that already). |

Also, FYI, my item doesn't seem to have an obvious use in-game. It could be one of the red herrings.

Huh?
It's just a fact. It happens and we comment on it almost every game. In fact, I thought Hoops himself was semi-alluding to it when he already mentioned the fact that he may need to pass it to someone. You're reaching, dude. |

If/when I'm alive later in the game I'll deal with the question. I didn't read anything all that deep into the comment by KWhit.
On my end, I was more alluding to "hey, I just said I've got something that might be pretty useful - I probably need to pass it sooner rather than later now that I've tipped my hand on this". |

question? will the role know who passed it? if so I would recommend caution to the recievers of such items. that could also be a ploy to garner trust from those so corrupted.

I'll be interested in Abe's answers about passing things. I don't want to risk something getting lost, but if not passing items to our role players might be smart.
I'm going to hold on to my vote for the moment. I should be around this afternoon and evening so I'll see if something comes up. |

The joking reveal as cunning and anxiously jumping on Kwhit are enough to earn my day1 vote. It's by no means set in stone, but have to start somewhere. |

vote ntndeacon
Since Poli voted for player number two I guess I will vote for player number one this time. As for my item, looks like it should be very useful, I just have to figure out what can be done with it. |

1). What would happen in real life if you decided to give an object to a non-existent person? 2). No, they just find it. Not told who it. is if from. Good quesiton, shoulda put that in the rules.

I told you EVERY piece of info that you have in the pm. If it had to be activated, then I told you that. If it was one time, I told you that. If it had a target, I told you that. Etc. I am not that bad of a GM.

It would just drop and hit the ground, I would imagine. What you're not saying is whether we as the passer would be unaware of that or would we go to retrieve the item once it hits the ground. This seems nonsensicle, so I would ask you to either say "I'm not saying" or be less cryptic with your response please.

Obviously you would learn that the non-existant person is non existant and the item would not disappear into limbo.

Man, doesn't this seem like the same early day one votes we get every game? Snore. I will most likely try to vote someone who doesn't seem to be in the mix every day one, as has been my recent strategy.

I'm not sure we'd want our roled villagers to expose themselves by answering this kind of question at this point. No need to start narrowing down key targets for the wolves. |

I really don't think that anyone should give too much away about their roles, it's too risky this early.
and the item i have doesn't give me any clue what it does.

Ah, the dreaded first second vote on a person. Not much else to go on for voting. Also, ntn is often a player who stays UTR and is hard to figure out late in games since he doesn't say much. And I don't mean he stays invisible, just that even when he does comment it's generally succinct and pointed and doesn't allow for heavy analysis.
Certainly open to change: vote ntn |
