(OOC: I had a crash when I tried to start my game - I *think* the crash is due to a mistake with Icy's mod)
March 3rd, 2006 Sun Belt Conference Results: Florida International beat Louisiana-Lafayette 72-67 (I doubt they would have advanced in the next game anyway) Denver beat Middle Tennessee again. South Alabama still beat Western Kentucky.

Kinzer with 4 quick points on the inside.
After another stop, Linton nails a 3! We scored 9 points before they scored at all. 15 minute mark: We have foreced two turnovers and had fastbreaks on them, we've hit two 3's, and Kinzer has given us 6 inside points. We are up 15-5. 10 minute mark: We've hit 3's and had a few good stops. We are pulling away. 30-12. 5 minute mark: Our shots aren't falling as frequently, but we had at least 2 more fast break baskets. 40-19. Halftime: 53-30. We are hitting our 3's. We are rebounding much better than they are. We are taking very good care of the ball with only 2 turnovers. Overall, just a great game for us. SR PG Clint Flowers has 15 points on 6 of 12 shooting (3 of 6 behind the arc.) He also has 4 boards, 6 steals, and 4 assists! He has been our key tonight. 15 minute mark: Klein has been our main scorer the last 5 minutes. 62-43. 10 minute mark: We are up 74-53 as our offense is hitting over 48% of our shots. 5 minute mark: Both teams are hitting a high percentage of shots. 85-67. With 3 minutes left and a 17 point lead, I put in my end of bench players. We are up 87-70. Game over. 91-76 win for us. We outrebounded them 36-24. We went to the line 20 times (and hit 15.) They only were 5 of 9 from the line. We caused 20 turnovers. They only caused us to make 5. Those were the keys to us winning. They actually shot better 59.6% compared to our 46.7%. They were 60% from 3 PT land (15 of 25!) We were 37.5% from behind the arc (6 of 16.) Our leading scorers: Flowers with 19, Linton and Gelbard with 13, Fingelton with 11, Klein and Kinzer with 10 each. Flowers led the team with 6 assists and 0 turnovers. Flowers led the team with 8 steals. Klein led the team with 8 boards. Flowers was player of the game: 19 points (8 of 17 shooting) 6 assists, 6 boards, and 8 steals. |

We are in the Semi-Final of the Sun Belt Conference!
That is the good news. The bad news is that we will be playing #1 seed Troy. Denver upset Arkansas State and Florida International upset North Texas. #6 Florida Internation and #7 Denver both should be much easier opponents for me, if we can get by Troy. From: Bill Gunn To: Coach Bordeaux Subj: Troy Troy has great team balance. They are led by C Devon Robinson who is averaging 10.3 ppg, and 8.4 rpg as well as a block per game. He does a great job of creating opportunities outside for his guards who can nail the 3's. If we play our usual 3-2, we better be prepared for Devon to score 20 or more. Defensively, they rarely press. They primarily play 1-2-2 zone defense with some 1-3-1 zones mixed in. Their defense is going to be a bit of a challenge for our team to break down. They are favored in this game. Keys: Keep our turnovers down. If we can commit 7 or less, we have a good chance to win the game. Linton needs to fight Robinson on the boards. Crawford and the rest of our guards need to shoot well. |

Devon hits the inside basket right away to start the game.
Flowers come down the court and nails a 3. We steal the inside pass and get a fast break which Crawford jams home! We steal the pass to Robinson and get a fast break jam by Klein! 7-2. 15 minute mark: We are denying the inside pass to Robinson. We are up 13-8. 12 minute mark: We've got Robinson in a bit of foul trouble, they remove him from the game! 10 minute mark: We just hit 2 quick 3's and 2 fast breaks. 25-12. 5 minute mark: Devon Robinson has been their offense the last 5 minutes. He has 16 points, but we are up 35-24. Our outside shooting really cooled off, and we turned over the ball too much when Flowers was out. They also started nailing 3 after 3. Halftime: 43-42 lead for us. Flowers is our leading scorer with 12 points in 15 minutes. He also had 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 3 assists. 17 minute mark: We get a 3rd foul on Robinson and they remove him again. 15 minute mark: They are forcing turnovers, but we are hitting shots better. 52-50. 10 minute mark: Our ability to get to the FT line as well as a few timely steal-fast break baskets are helping us now. 64-59. Robinson has 20 points for them on the inside. 5 minute mark: 70-65 we are up, but their guards are starting to drill some more outside shots. We exchange some stops and it is 74-67 with 3 minutes left. Crawford comes up with a big 3 to make it 77-67! They hit a 2, but Guinn hits a long range 3! 80-69 with 2 minutes left. We get stops on their next 2 possessions but so do they. It is 80-69 with a minute left. Suddenly, they drain a few 3's while fouling us. We miss our FT's, but time is running out. Game over. 82-76 win! We outshot them 48% to 44% overall. We shot 46.7% from behind the arc (7 of 15.) They were 31.6% from behind the arc (6 of 19.) We were outrebounded and they forced more turnovers (18.) We only forced 14. However, we got to the line 21 times. We made 19 of our FT's. That was the key to victory. They only go to the line 9 times, and they missed 4 of their FT's. Flowers was clutch again. 19 points led us. Kinzer had 14, Crawford had 13, and Klein had 13. Guinn also pitched in 10. Flowers led the team with 5 assists but also had 5 turnovers. Klein and Kinzer each had 9 boards for us. Kinzer led the team with 5 steals. Linton and Klein each had a block. Clint Flowers was player of the game. 4 of 8 from 3 point range, 7 of 15 overall. 19 points, 5 assists, 4 boards, and 2 steals. Robinson finished with 20 points for them. But we forced him to miss his last 6 shots and he finished 8 of 16.

Denver beat Florida International 78-65.
We will be playing Denver for the opportunity to go to the Big Dance! I have to think Mr. Richard is happy with our turnaround the last few weeks/months and this great run in the tournament. From: Bill Gunn To: Terry Bordeaux Subj: Denver Coach, we are really excited to be in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Final! Denver has a good team despite being a lower seed than us. They are 19-12. Denver runs a flex offense and they have a very good PG. Kevin Grady has been averaging 14 ppg, 3.2 apg, 5.1 rpg. He also has a block per game and a steal per game. Defensively, they primarily run a 2-3 which should allow our guards to light it up from outside. We beat them 100-81 at home in our only game against them this year. They are the only team we broke 100, and our guards really did light them up from outside that game. We are favored in this game! Keys: Take good 3's. If we hit a high percentage from behind the arc, we will win the game. Feed off the crowd energy. Force them to shoot long range jumpers. |

Flowers quickly throws a pass over Crawford's head to start the game.
Flowers steals their pass inside and throws it ahead to Crawford who beats his man and dunks it! We have forced 14 turnovers while only making 6. That is the main reason we are winning. Crawford leads the team with 12 points on 5 of 6 shooting. 15 minute mark: 42-34 lead for us as they are killing us inside. Sam Oquin has 16 points from his C position. 10 minute mark: 47-43 as they are playing very good defense and/or we aren't hitting shots. 5 minute mark: 58-55 as Gelbard is suddenly on fire. 4 minute mark: We are up 60-59 as Klein hit an inside jump, but they hit two inside shots. We force a miss on the 3. They intentionally foul Crawford. He hits both FT's. 70-61 with 1:13 left. They hit a quick 3 and intentionally foul Crawford. He hits both FT's. 72-64. Linton steals the ball and makes a fastbreak basket. 74-64! They miss 2 3's. Game over!!!!! 74-64 win! We are going to The Tournament! We forced 17 turnovers while only making 10 turnovers. From: Bill Gunn
To: Coach Bordeaux Subj: St. Johns Coach, as you know they are a 21-9 Big East Team. They run a high post offense that thrives with several big men who can pass it. They like to speed things up when they can. Their best player is SF Kwame Jones who is averaging 10.7 ppg, 1.8 apg, 4.9 rpg, and 0.8 spg. Defensively, they run a stifling 3-2 zone defense and press at times. They have the potential to really shut down our outside shooters, and we need to be creative to get them some open shots. They are heavily favored in this game. Game Keys: We must keep Peter Hunter off the boards. We have to slow down Ezra Dudley who can fill it up from outside. We have to win the turnover battle. |

From: Terry Bordeaux To: Chris Richard, AD Subj: Staff re-alignment. I've decided that I'm going to let go Bill Gunn go. I like him, but his eye for talent is questionable. I wish to go after a better evaluator of talent. From: Chris Richard, AD To: Terry Bordeaux Subj: Re: Staff re-alignment. Coach, we can't afford to pay Bill his last two years of his contract and pay a new assistant coach. I strongly urge you to reconsider your plan. From: Terry Bordeaux To: Chris Richard, AD Subj: Re Re: Staff re-alignment. Darn. I guess you are right. We'll keep the current staff for the next 2 years, but I will be looking to get rid of Bill after his contract has expired. I guess I'll give him more time to show me that he really can do evaluate talent. |

As we expected, none of our players were drafted. As you know, we only have 1 scholarship opening up this year. I think that made your choice to go with the better scouting report a very wise choice. Recruit carefully to help the team. We'll be losing 2 walk-ons after this year as well. |

To: Chris Richard, AD Subj: Scholarship We lost out on several highly touted players, including the best player in LA, but I got us a good talent. SG Delvon Bayyan has given me a verbal committment. Delvon is a terrificly athletic player who is wonderful at slashing to the hoop. He also has a good outside shot. Defensively, he is mediocre, but his scoring ability will be important with Crawford having graduated, and some of our other top scorers going in the next year or so. |

To: Terry Bordeaux Subj: Damon Guinn Unfortunately, his GPA had dropped below 2 this semester. He will be suspended through December and possibly longer if he doesn't raise his grades. From: Coaching Staff To: Coach Bordeaux Subj: Our recommendations for Depth Chart PG Lionel Jackson is much more raw than we thought he would be. However, our only other true PG with Damon's suspension is Morlaye Langhi. Morlaye hasn't developed well at all. It's a tossup, but I'd give Lionel the ball from day one. Realize that he isn't going to do much well early except for hit jumpers. SG This is our hardest choice. Myron Rogers is a senior and is better defensively, but we recommend starting Kenny Gelbard. Kenny has the best 3 pointer on the team. When he is on, he can carry the team with his scoring. However, he still is a very poor defender. SF Rick Johnsen is our easiest choice. Rick has worked hard on his game. If he can keep his grades up, he can become a special player. PF Ryan Linton is our second easiest choice. We've brought in plenty of size, but Ryan can hit the 3 ball, he can steal it, he can block it, and he can generally defend. C is a tough choice. Matt Oliver is 7'2 293 but he is very raw. He has the potential to become unstoppable on the inside. We recommend starting him from day one, but Mike Kerr is more developed and not that much smaller. We'd rotate Kerr in frequently, particularly if Oliver is struggling. The top 5 off the bench: SF Alan Frazier - He can hit his jumpers and is a capable defender. PF Norman Gill - This walkon Senior has a good post game. C Mike Kerr - This true freshman has a good post game and a decent jumper. He is also a decent defender. SG Myron Rogers - Can hit the 3 ball reasonably well. Developing into a passable defender. PF Ricky Curtis - He really worked on his game this year, and he is developing into a usable player. Unfortunately, PG Morlaye Langhi will also play a bit. He doesn't run the offenses well and he isn't as good of a jump shooter as Lionel Jackson is. |

From: Bill Gunn To: Coach Bordeaux Subj: Morgan State Today we play Morgan State in our season opener. They run a fast paced offense that focuses on passing it inside to set up outside shots. They run plenty of flex sets and 5 out sets. Defensively, they rarely press. They primarily play a 2-3 zone defense. Their best player is SF Maxey Houston Keys: We must work hard on the defensive end. We aren't good and we need to make good effort. We must work the ball inside and get our big C's going. Rick Johnsen has to make smart plays. He is our best playmaker. |

15 minute mark: We aren't hitting our 3's. Matt Oliver has drawn a foul already and he hit a close shot. We are down 10-8.
10 minute mark: Our defense isn't playing too well at all. 18-15 we are down. 5 minute mark: Johnsen hit a pair of 3's, but he is missing his other shots. Kerr with a nice steal and pass to start the fast break which Johnsen finished! Still we are down 30-25. 4 minute mark: Linton picks up his 3rd foul and I have to pull him. I decide to play Kerr and Oliver as my two big men. Langhi hits a 3! We get a stop. Rogers hits a 3! 35-32 lead with 1:24 left. Langhi hits another 3 just before the clock expires! Halftime: 40-34 we lead. Langhi has surprised us all. SF Rick Johnsen is our top player of the half. He has 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting (3 of 5 from behind the arc) and he has 2 boards, 2 assists, and 2 steals. I decide I'm leaving Kerr and Oliver in to start the 2nd half. I like what they are doing on the inside defensively together. Johnsen nails another 3 to start the 2nd half. We are forcing more misses the last few minutes. 15 minute mark: 47-38 lead for us. 10 minute mark: 51-41 lead for us. Both sides playing good defense. Linton in trouble with 4 fouls. I sub Langhi in at 9:30. He buries a 3 right away! 5 minute mark: We are getting sloppy with the basketball. 56-49 lead for us. Johnsen with a steal and a fast break basket. Game over. 64-54 win! Was our defense that good, or were their shooters just bad? We each had 12 turnovers. They had 44 rebounds to our 33. The key to the win was we shot 43.6% from the field and 53.3% (8-15) behind the arc. They shot 33.8% from the field and 0% (0 of 11) from behind the arc. SF Rick Johnsen led our scoring with 18 points on 7 of 16 shooting in 34 minutes. Langhi shocked us by scoring 15 points on 5 of 10 shooting in 16 minutes. He is definitely a shoot first PG, but he might be our best option at the point. Lionel Jackson led the team with 3 assists (but he was 0 of 4 shooting.) SF Rick Johnsen led the team with 8 rebounds. He also led the team with 3 steals. No one had any blocks. Matt Oliver only had 4 points in his first game. He was somewhat reluctant to shoot. Kerr had 8 points on 4 of 6 shooting. I still think these 2 are going to become a special tandem for us in the future. Our player of the game: SF Rick Johnsen with 18 points, 2 assists, 8 boards, 3 steals. He was 4 of 7 behind the arc and 7 of 16 overall. |

From: Bill Gunn To: Coach Bordeaux Subj: Buffalo Buffalo likes to run a slower paced attack in which they primarily feed the ball to their SF in the high post and let him create plays. SF Matt Daniels is a capable scorer as well as a decent passer and we have to watch him closely. Defensively, they rarely press. They primarily play M2M. Game Keys: Get Rick Johnsen going early. Stop Matt Daniels. He is the key to their entire offense. Don't let Ed Houston benefit from kickouts. Keep a man in his face at all times. |

15 minute mark: They are killing us inside and hitting a few 3's. 15-12 lead for them.
10 minute mark: Gelbard and Johnsen are making shots fall. Kerr is playing good defense inside and cooling off their center. 23-19 lead for us. Langhi with a great steal, runs up the court, and throws an alley-oop to Kerr! 5 minute mark: We are up 39-28. Langhi with another steal and another great alley-oop to Rogers! 55-35 with a minute left in the half. Our defense is starting our offense. Frazier has hit 2 3's since coming in 5 minutes ago. Halftime: 59-38! We've forced 11 turnovers while only turning it over 4 times. We are hitting an astounding 62.1% of our shots and 50% from behind the arc. We are also getting to the line much more than them (14 times to the line in the first half.) Kenny Gelbard is our leading scorer with 12 points, 2 boards, and an assist. He is shooting 60% (6 of 10.) 15 minute mark: Our defense really is playing better than I expected. 63-42 lead. It really seems to be when I play our two biggest players on the inside and let the guards really run the 3-2. 10 minute mark: Our defense is smothering them. We are getting fast breaks too as a result. Also Linton and Gelbard are hitting 3's. 80-44! 8:52 with the 40 point lead, I decide to turn to the end of our bench and get some guys some experience. The exception is that I will play Lionel Jackson once he is rested. Our coaches now think he and Langhi are very even currently. However, they think Lionel has tremendous potential. Chris Martin, our very tall SG, gets his first PT as a result. 5 minute mark: We have size on the floor and they are playing good defense. 88-48. We only gave up one good 3. The rest of the points were due to turnovers. Game over. 102-58 win! Chris Martin had 6 points in garbage time. He might be ready for more PT soon. We caused 24 turnovers. We only made 12 turnovers. That was key to our victory. Also, we shot 56.9% overall and 38.9 from behind the arc (7 of 18.) They shot 37.9% overall and 33.3% from behind the arc (6 of 18.) Gelbard had 23 points, Johnsen had 13 points, Linton had 14 points, Langhi and Kerr each had 9 points. Jackson led the team with 4 assists. He only had 1 turnover. Frazier led the team with 7 boards despite only playing 15 minutes. He also had 7 points in those 15 minutes. Rick Johnsen is very good, but I need to get Frazier more PT. Linton and Oliver each had 3 steals for us. Linton led the team with 2 blocks. Player of the Game: Kenny Gelbard with 23 points on 10 of 16 shooting in 30 minutes. He also had 1 assist, 1 turnover, and 3 rebounds. |

From: Bill Gunn To: Coach Bordeaux Subj: Chicago State Today we play Chicago State which runs a flex offense primarily. Their best player is Garvin Plowman who is a physical PF. Defensively, they rarely press. They primarily play M2M. We are favored in this game. Keys: Continue our excellent defense. We are only giving up 56 ppg. Stop Philipp Kickert. Their PG can make plays for their big PF. Get to the FT Line. We've been doing a good job of that, and we must continue to get to the FT more than our opponent. |

15 minute mark: They are shooting much too well. I decide to bring Kerr in early and go to our big defense. They are up 16-10.
Kerr quickly forces two stops and makes two baskets. 10 minute mark: Our defense is SO much better with Kerr. 23-23. 5 minute mark: They are nailing 3's. 37-34 lead for them. Halftime: 44-42. So much for our vaunted defense.. Least we are shooting a high percentage. Linton is our player of the half. 12 points, 5 boards, 2 blocks, and 1 steal. He is shooting 4 of 4 (all 3's!) 15 minute mark: They hit 2 big 3's. Otherwise our defense is doing well, but our offense isn't. 51-46. Linton has missed his last 3 3's Make that his last 4 3's. 10 minute mark: They are up 59-54. They keep hitting the occasional 3 to keep space between us. 5 minute mark: Gelbard and Johnsen are getting to the FT line and our defense is locking down on them. 64-63 we lead! Johnsen with a big 3! We get a stop. Linton throws it away. Johnsen and Gelbard are very tired. We get a stop. Gelbard turns it over. I'm going to need to rely on the bench. 3 minutes left: We are up 67-65. Oliver forces a foul inside. This is his best offensive game. He makes the first, but misses the 2nd FT. Kerr gets called for his 4th foul against their center. They make both FT's. 68-67 we lead. Lionel Jackson throws it away leading to a fast break. I call time out and bring Langhi in. 2 minute mark: We are down 69-68. Oliver hits a 4 foot jumper. Shawn Keating hits his 3rd 3 of the game. 72-70 they are up. Oliver with a baby hook in the lane! 72-72. We force Keating to travel with a nice trap! Kerr misses the 6 foot jumper. Leon Norwood gets an offensive rebound and jams it home. Langhi with a quick jumper to tie it up 74-74. Kickert hits a 3 to give them the lead with 12 seconds left. Langhi runs down, shoots the 3, and misses it. We foul. They hit both FT's. Langhi misses the 3. Game over. 79-74 loss. They outrebounded us 43-33. They shot 46% from the field and 41% from behind the arc (9 of 22) We shot 41.7% and 31.3% (5 of 16.) That was the difference in the game. Gelbard led the team with 17 points on 4 of 9 shooting in 32 miutes. Johnsen had 15 points on 7 of 13 shooting in 32 minutes. Linton pitched in 12 points, and Oliver had 11 points. Frazier led the team with 3 assists despite only playing 9 minutes. I need to find him more PT. Linton led the team with 12 boards in 27 minutes. Jackson led the team with 2 steals. Linton led the team with 3 blocks. Their PG, Philipp Kickert was the player of the game. He had 14 points (6 of 12 shooting, 2 of 8 behind the arc), 5 assists, 5 boards, and 1 block. |

15 minute mark: Our shots aren't falling. They are getting too many offensive boards. 10-3.
10 minute mark: Linton is playing better on defense, but the offense isn't much better. 17-9. Linton with a nice 3 finally. We exchange quick 3's. 5 minue mark: We hit another 3 after getting a stop. 23-20 we are down. We each hit a few 3's down the stretch. Lionel Jackson hit 2 for us. Unfortunately, they hit 2 more. Halftime: 37-30 lead for them. We just aren't hitting our shots. We mixed up our lineup to start the 2nd half, without much good effect. 15 minute mark: 47-40 they lead. 10 minute mark: None of our moves are really helping close the gap. 54-46, they lead. I decided to bring Ricky Curtis in and he is helping down the stretch with 2 fast break baskets! 5 minute mark: They are up 63-59. We fail to tie it up on 3 trips down the court. They then hit on their next 2 trips. We blew a great defensive run. They are up 70-64 with 1:03 left. They hit their FT's when we foul them, and we can't hit our 3's. Game over. 77-64 win for them. They shot better 43% vs our 38.5% overall. We shot muc better from 3 point land. We shot 50% (11 of 22.) However, we killed on the boards 48-34. Also, they made it to the FT line 10 times more. Lionel Jackson was our only player to get into double digits with 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting (3 of 5 from behind the arc.) Lionel led the team with 4 assists. However, he had 6 turnovers. Kerr led the team with 6 boards. Kerr led the team with 7 steals down low! Linton had our only block. Brent Wolfe, their SF, won the Player of the Game Award. He had 16 points on 4 of 11 shooting. He also had 4 boards. |

Kenny Gelbard has picked up an early injury and won't play much today.
I decide to try Chris Martin in the game early. 15 minute mark: Our early shots aren't falling too well. 10-6 they lead. Martin with a quick slash and jam. 10 minute mark: 17-14, they are up. 5 minute mark: We are up 26-21 as our defense has been stifling the last 5 minutes. Halftime: Rogers and Langhi with big 3's in the last minute to end our scoring drought. 34-31 we lead. Morlaye Langhi is our leading scorer with 7 points, 2 rebounds, and a steal. 15 minute mark: We are up 41-35 as our defense is playing well. 10 minute mark: Both offenses flowing more. We are up 50-47. 5 minute mark: We are up 57-51. Gelbard comes in for limited PT due to his injury and hits 3 big 3's! They gave us a scare with 2 quick baskets off the press in the last minute, but we held on. Game over. 72-67 win. The biggest key is that we went to the FT line 12 more times. Also, we hit a higher percentage of our shots (43.3% overall and 42.9% from behind the arc compared to 34% and 40% for them.) Langhi was our leading scorer with 12. Gelbard was second with 11 points in 9 minutes! Several players had 2 assists. Frazier led the team with 7 rebounds. Jackson led the team with 2 steals. Linton had our only block. Morlaye Langhi was the Player of the Game. He had 12 points (4 of 10 shooting), 2 assists, 4 boards, 2 steals, and 4 turnovers. |

OOC Note: I'm going to change the style as I think it is hard to really summarize the flow of basketball in a PBP style that is fun to read and easy for me to type as the game occurs. I'll still give an "in-game" view for close games in the last 5 minutes or so. However, otherwise, I'm going to start using nice boxscores to summarize games. I'm glad Gary mentioned that HTML actually is in the game (it is in the commish mode that you can access it.)

Marshall was heavily favored at home coming into this non-conference game.
At halftime, they are up 39-27. They are just shooting much better. They are shooting over 50%, we are shooting under 36%. Also, they are forcing turnovers. With 5 minutes left, we are absolutely getting blown out. Marshall is just too good for us. I put in my bench. We were beat 80-51. They rebounded us 42-26 which was a key to our loss. Also we only shot 35%/29% (5 of 17.) They shot 57.4% from the field. Their Center Traves Daniels was the player of the game. He had 19 points, 13 boards, and 2 blocks. He shot 8 of 13 and just destroyed us inside. Here is a look at the boxscore: New Orleans Privateers

Today we host Memphis which is an athletic team that loves to run. They are expected to beat us badly, as they have some very good talent. They had 9 points before Linton managed to hit a 3 off a screen. They are overbearing defensively. Wow. We had a great first half in which we were 10 of 10 from 3 point land! We are up 50-38. Linton and Gelbard were key. Ryan Linton had 12 points on 4 of 4 3's in the first half. Wow. Our 3 point shooting really cooled off in the 2nd half, but we played great defense, hit jumpers, and coasted to an 86-60 win! We shot 51.7% from the field. They shot 36.8%. We shot 70.6% from behind the arc (12 of 17.) They shot 25% from behind the arc (6 of 24.) We outrebounded them 43-35. Rick Johnsen was our player of the game. 19 points, 2 assists, 1 turnover, 7 boards, and 1 steal. He was 8 of 12 overall and 3 of 3 from behind the arc. Here is the boxscore: Memphis Tigers

Today we host a 6-0 Charlotte Team. Despite our big win last game, they are favored at our place. Our early shots just aren't falling and they score 11 before we manage to put in a basket. I went to Myron Rogers early, and he helped us turn it around. He doesn't jack up shots nearly as much as Gelbard does. He also plays better defense. He helped us tie it 27-27 with 4 minutes left. Langhi just starting nailing 3's down the stretch. At halftime, we had a 41-32 lead! Rogers was the key in the second half. He played superb defense while surprising the heck out of me with his ability to score. Matt Oliver also had a great stretch of defense in which he generated quite a few fast break baskets. Also of importance, Rick Johnsen caught on fire in the 2nd half from behind the 3 point line. We won 78-54. Myron's defense was so key. We held them to 36.8% shooting overall. They shot 27% from behind the arc (6-22) We shot 43.9% and 38.5% (10-26) from behind the arc. Rick Johnsen was the Player of the Game. The sophomore had 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting (3 of 4 behind the arc.) He also had 3 assists, 3 turnovers, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Let's look at the boxscore: Charlotte 49ers

From: Dr. Nick
To: Coach Bordeaux Subj: Myron Rogers Myron has suffered a mild concussion that last game and he won't be 100% for at least a few days. Ahh, I guess that is why he shot so well. |

We are currently 6-4. We are traveling to play the 6-3 Ohio Bobcats. They are slightly favored at home. We are playing well and are even at the half. 33-33. They killed us with the 3 ball in the second half. They also turned up the pace of the game, and we couldn't keep up. Their SG Ruben Cable was the player of the game with 22 points, 1 assist, 2 trunovers, and 2 boards. Here is a look at the box score: New Orleans Privateers

We are 6-5 and we are traveling to play a 4-7 Pacific Team. From: Bill Gunn To: Coach Bordeaux Subj: Pacific Pacific is in the Big West Conference. They run a high post offense through their SF Jamal Johnson. Jamal is averaging 7.9 ppg, 1.9 apg, 4.0 rpg, and 0.7 spg. Defensively, they rarely press and primarily play M2M. We are slightly favored on the road. We play pretty even in the first half and they are up 35-34. Alan Frazier has been key off the bench and will get some more PT in the 2nd half. We were outrebounded (45-33), we turned it over more than them, and we were HORRIBLE from 3 point range (1 of 16.) That is why we lost 73-59. Jim Smith, their PF, was the Player of the Game. He had 18 points, 11 boards, 3 steals, 1 block, and 1 assist. He shot 7 of 13. Here is a look at the box score: New Orleans Privateers

Coach... I think it might be time to give Langhi the reigns of the team. Jackson seems to not be much better than a 1.2-1 assist to TO ratio, and if he's not passing, he sure can't score like Morlaye. Morlaye seems to get more PT anyway. Let 'em start coach!
