It's a tough one because your statistics are so high that they have to find it suspicious for you to miss all of them. But the questions are the hardest, it's the finale, it's live, many people go cold in front of others. I don't know how they could do it a better way, but that sucks to hear.

The proctor and I talked about it, when you have a time limit and your face to face the mind doesn't relax and let the info flow easily. Then you get bogged down rethinking your guesses and basically it turns into quicksand, something that doesn't happen when you can just sit and think about it as I do while I'm working.

I'll pull up the questions and just keep looking at them while I work until I choose an answer. numerous times my initial idea for an answer I realize is wrong as I keep re-reading the questions over time.

I get the point that overall they're trying to keep it honest but frankly, its too subjective. None of the accused can argue someone's opinion. If I believe person A is cheating, Person A is probably never going to convince me otherwise. Its all circumstantial and personal bias.

Its great that they're trying. Just kind of insulting when you're one of the wrongfully accused. I mean, whats the point?

I won Deildin Five, got promoted 2 levels, went 0-fer in the Meisterschaft, then got demoted back to Deildin Five this year. I would think I'd be more of a case for cheating than anyone, though I didn't. I just played crappy defense and my answer rate dropped to like 45% this year from 60+ the season I won.

I did really well with that bonus "Baseball Numbers" quiz, but I got hosed on the Piniella question. I knew the answer but misspelled it "Pinella" and didn't get my 10 points.

Well I will definitely move up to at least E. I can't be worse than third. I just lost to the first place guy.

I'm bottom 40 all time in defense, but I have gone 5 wins, 1 draw in my last 6 and should be in the promotion match for Desolation North Deildin Five

Semi-crosspost from the FB group, but mostly stewing that 39/45 correct answers against in Ragnarok Premiership has consigned me to a super-relegation match today.

For these classes I'm taking that is all online only, we have to download something called a Lockdown Browser for tests. When the test begins, your camera starts recording and you cannot open any new windows. I think it's something Shane should consider. It would eliminate the freedom to sit all day and think about it, but I think too many people go "I should know this" and look something up for ease. It's incredibly lame.

I also got super relegated but I mean I answered 35% correct so I can't complain too much.

5/10 on this season's Meisterschaft. One I definitely should've gotten, the others I was nowhere near.

Not sure if you guys saw this, but the tiebreak loser is me.

Meisterschaft Champions

Deildin Five: Jeffrey Paul, Chicago, IL, Doomsday Conference

An absolutely unbelievable battle in Deildin Five, where all eight competitors scored either a 4/10 or a 5/10, Paul won in the tiebreaker over four other competitors, including John Furlano, Jim Clark, and Gary Price. Price, of Desolation, came closest on his Feagles guess, but Paul nipped him by a mere 1500 yards. In the aftermath, Grant Park flooded with supporters, and as they waited for Paul to emerge, the numbers topped the election night crowd that assembled for Barack Obama. Paul was greeted with roars of acclamation, cries of "Ditka!", and various meat products, and the party raged into the night.

Tiebreak they're referring to was "guess total number of career punt yards for Jeff Feagles".

They're doing one more fortnight then going paid.

I'll probably stick around. If you do go paid, you can organize your own private divisions, so if we had enough people here we could do one.

On the fence about it, but if I stick around, I definitely want to do a private division. I knew this was inevitable, but I'm not very good, so I just have to weigh if it's worth my interest.

How many of us held over in the paid era? Kind of enjoying the open division format this year.

With the shift to a paid subscription model and the resulting membership attrition, the guys running the site decided to more or less reset the league structure and put everyone through another rookie season. The divisions grew from 10 to 12 (and the fortnight expanded to 12 days), and the assignments to tiers 1-6 after this season correspond to how people finish in their open division (1 and 2 go to the top, ..., 11 and 12 go to the bottom).

Here is how things shook out in Armageddon North Open B:

Code:
Player W L D Pts +/- Correct Correct % Noel Purcell 9 0 2 29 50 47 85.45 % Noah Brisbin 6 1 4 23 16 36 65.45 % Tejas Raje 6 2 3 22 24 39 70.91 % Mick Reinhard 6 1 4 22 22 36 65.45 % Chris Almeida 5 3 3 18 6 29 52.73 % Dan Hawkins 5 3 3 18 2 25 45.45 % Gary Fedorochko 3 5 3 12 -12 22 40 % Greg Peterson 3 5 3 12 -18 20 36.36 % Norman Yacko Jr. 2 5 4 10 -16 21 38.18 % Adam Wendell 2 6 3 9 -4 22 40 % Josh McMullen 2 8 1 7 -30 15 27.27 % Michal Dwojak 0 10 1 1 -40 7 12.73 %

So, a wide spread in sports trivia proficiency reflected there. At the end of it all, I was a little fortunate to eke out 2nd, so will go to the Premiership, where I will likely struggle to stay up as before. (I had won a second-tier division last fortnight.)

And here is Ragnarok North / Open E

Code:
Player W L D Pts +/- Correct Correct % Patrick Sabol 7 3 1 22 12 26 47.27 % Jon Arnold 6 2 3 21 38 38 69.09 % Todd Akers 5 0 6 21 18 32 58.18 % Evan Malter 5 3 3 18 14 37 67.27 % Matt Silich 4 2 5 17 6 21 38.18 % Zach Greenfield 4 3 4 16 8 19 34.55 % Jon Leibowitz 4 3 4 16 6 24 43.64 % Liz Quesnelle 4 4 3 15 -4 21 38.18 % Meg McCurdy 3 4 4 13 -14 18 36 % Jon Caraco 3 5 3 12 -14 19 42.22 % Ryan Sprechmn 1 7 3 6 -24 15 27.27 % Alex Fraser 0 10 1 1 -46 14 25.45 %

note the only undefeated player

To follow up on my bragging in the LL thread, just got 6th place in the curling friendly. Tops among people who missed a question (I would never have gotten the two Canadians who went to the Olympics without winning a national title), so fairly good use of the priority multipliers.
