I caved. :P Gamestop was sold out, so no points for me. Got it at Target instead and they only had 3 copies left.

So I stole a mass transit bus but it won't fit in my garage as Lamar. Is there a place I can park it? I really like this bus.

I found the strip club by complete accident (thought it was a shoe store from the icon and wanted to get some new kicks) and have deduced that there are apparently only some strippers who will sleep with you.
For example, Cheetah would not sleep with Franklin or with Michael so far. Haven't gotten Toby so I don't know if he'd score with her.

Man - you guys are romping through this. I only just reached Trevor this afternoon, and still haven't finished his intro missions (at the O'Neil farm now).

Finally had some time where I could try the game.
HOLY S***!!!! Have only just begun but it is a major surprise so far. No way in hell I can play this with the kids up so that cuts down my play time drastically. |

I have read where there have been installation problems, storage errors, and whatnot.
I have a black fatty Xbox 360 Elite, with 120HDD, that is roughly 6+ yrs old. The recommendations that I have read on the interwebs, indicate that I need to purchase a USB 2.0 , place "install" disk on USB, then install "play" disk onto the HDD. Which brands, specs for a USB will I be looking for? Are there any foolproof install theories? |

I've had zero issues with just doing what Rockstar wanted me to do. I installed the install disc and play the play disk without installing it. No problems on my end. Well, I have problems with Subway, but that is another story.

I've been watching theRadBrad's LP on the tube for the past couple of hours. Up to part 7 and it's fun to watch. It still would prefer the atmosphere of 1940s/1950s Mafia 2 as oppose to modern day LA but it's an amazingly huge detailed world they built.

No, I don't think that's what you want to do. The recommendation is to install the "install disk" and not do anything with the "play disk".

Eh, I don't know I'd say that. Aside from not letting people know that there could be issues with a download copy due to the game needing to read from 2 sources I don't know what they really could have done. They needed to get everything they could out of 7 year old systems to get the game to look like it does and it still has performance issues. |

Not ever having any consoles, I am amazed in watching the YouTube LP at how much they were able to squeeze out of the dated graphics engine. Performance and details look great for such a large map.
When I got to the Trevor missions in the LP, I was blown away by the landscape - a jarring switch from LA. It is a landscape I'm familiar with from places in antelope valley and Mojave. So far it's been just like watching a 8 hour movie. |

Interestingly enough, this situation could have been a selling point for MS and their new console had they stuck with their original plan to have all games installed on hard drive. They could point to this situation (wrong or right) and say, "See, when you have a game that is optimized for disc yet allows the user to install to the HD, this is what happens. We wanted to do hard drive only to remove this issue, but people complained about it." On the other side, some may say that the issues with performance on hard drive installs indicate that the decision by both companies to stay with disc-based games was a good one. Only time will tell. |

I also hit a bug. I was in the strip club and got a double dance, and somehow things f'd up, the bouncers came to toss me out and i couldn't get out of the chair. I ended up pulling my gun and shooting the 2 bouncers and eventually the cops came and killed me.

I find it impressive how much they were able to get out of 7 year old machines. I've noticed some minor issues, but nothing big or game breaking.

I don't want to knock the game because it's incredibly fun. But I'm still a little disappointed that the AI is essentially the same from 10 years ago. Bump into someone on the street and she runs off screaming. Wish the NPCs had more varied AI.

Assuming the garage bug gets fixed, when I store a car in a garage, then later take it out for a joyride and it gets blown up or I just abandon it, does it respawn in the garage?

Not sure on the blowup, but if you abandon it, it goes to the police impound lot and you have to pay to get it out. I did that with a sports car and had to pay $250 to get it out.

And I thought there was a bug now that I think about it. My lime green car disappeared from Michael's house, as did this really cool sports car in Franklin's house that I haven't been able to find a replacement for since then.

Just met Trevor last night. I knew he was going to be a crazy mofo, but damn! He had my wife and I laughing all night. I really came to realize how bad I suck at modern video games. It took me just over an hour to fly that damn plane, make the drop in the water and then land on that tiny little airstrip. The good thing about sucking at this game is that I have weeks of gameplay ahead of me still because it takes me a while to get through each storyline mission. Plus I like to spend a lot of time just doing my own things (murder, mayhem, blowing wads of money at the strip joint, etc)

Stupid question (although Googling did turn up at least one other person with the same problem - unanswered) ...
how the fuck do you turn up the in-game TV volume (on 360)? The help icon sorta kinda looks like LS up but that doesn't seem to do anything

The TV max volume isnt that loud. You probably hit the max. You shod hear ticks when you move it down/up. No ticks if maxed.

Anybody having any luck getting to actually play the multiplayer? So far, son has had one corrupted character save (online), one mission that failed to load, nothing but server timeouts since then.
