I raise my maintenance for stuff again Colonists sent to Uchamin 30 March – We kill off all of the natives in Uchamin 24 April – Another yuck – Fish in Heiltsuk. We crossed the ocean, set up colonies on another continent, and still can get away from Salmon! 10 July – I order a Temple in Chuna 4 Nov – Squamish now a full colony – It was given to K.C. So they get the nice fur province, but I get to keep the fish…. Next target is Tsimshian north and up coast from Kwakiutl 13 Feb, 1661 – I slay the angry 2500 natives in Tsimshian 29 March – I order a Trade Depot in Seganka 11 July – Marketplace for Chuna With the Embassy in Kamchatka, we gained an extra Diplomat! 6 May, 1662 – Castile wants some of our land too – in Kamchatka. 2 Aug – Copper in Uchamin Trade Depot for Chuna 16 Nov – Fur trading the price of business in Tsimshian 14 Dec – I get an event regarding Complaints about Bailiff We have a cruel bailiff and I lose prestige, rather than stability, to kill him

5 Mar, 1663 –
Heiltusk – Nestled on the coast between Squamish and Kwakiutl is this fun lil’ fishing colony. With a 1 taxvalue they make 1.3 gold for us. Next target is Nisga’a, up coast from Tsimshian 1 Jul – Canal ordered for Seganka Oirat Horde is bringing it to the Ming and have captured roughly have of the Ming Dynasty’s land in war 24 Dec – Britain allows us military access 2 Feb, 1664 – We finish the Quantity Ideas: Expanded Supply Lines - -10% land attrition And we get, for finishing it, +50 land forcelimits!!! Whew! 10 Feb – I order a Constable for Chuna 2 May – I can build up that Merchant from Expansion Ideas, but I have no where to send it yet. No need to do that right now Recently, Castile and Portugal built huge colonies down the west coast of South America 1 July – New Castile grants us military access 2 Feb, 1665 – Fish in Nisga’a 2 April – We build a Workshop in Chuna 1 June – Uchamin – I order a Temple here! The Copper mines make us 2.22 gold. This Siberian ex-colony is west of Chuna, east of Baykha, South of Eastern Siberia Wasteland, and north of East, West Tunguska and Turukhan. Next up is East Tunguska 24 July – Yi and Miao both revolt and got free from Ming. 4 Sept – Tsimshian is now a full province We have formed another colonial nation – Kamchadal Alaska It takes Aleut, Tsimshian, Kwakiutl, Nootka, heiltsku, and I’m sure it’ll have Nisga’a when it finishes. Next up, West Tunguska I built 2000 troops in Uchamin

21 Jan, 1666 – We take out the tribesman n East Tunguska
7 Apr – And now in West T too 23 June – Constable ordered for Uchamin and Canal in Maya 15 Sept – Yay? Castile no longer wants my stuff Portugal does badly though… We are just one province from Muscovy’s most recent explorations. If either of us takes Baykha, which is west of Uchamin and east of Mangazea, then we would be. Before that happens, I want to create a line in the sand that I can expand behind. We obviously will be border buddies sooner or later. Might as well be now, right? There are three provinces south of the Tunguskas that are not adjacent to anyone - Chulym, Angara, and Kan. 31 Mar, 1667 – I order 2000 cavalry back in the deep part of Siberia here 2 Dec – Nisga’a is now a province and joins K.A. Next up – might as well do Baykha, take it from Muscovy Next Tech! Post Office and Naval Arsenal; (Dip – 16) Trade Range increases, as does efficiency. And we can build post offices and naval arsenals 25 Feb, 1668 – 6000 troops arrive in Baykha 1 Mar – We slaughter the 2000 natives 6 Apr – I upgrade my fleet in Kamchatka 16 Apr – Iron ore discovered in West Tunguska New Castile has been expanding massively and rapidly in the new world for the last few years or so 9 Aug – Iron in East T too! 8 Nov – It’s a big today. Today we set up the colony in Baykha. For the first time, ever, we’ve been adjacent to an enemy that is bigger than us. And this isn’t some ally, its someone who may not like us a lot. 2 Dec – New Tech! Textile Manu (Admin 15) – Just Textile Manu and that’s it, nothing else of value 25 Dec – Another Wave of Obscurantism event swings through

19 Jan, 1669 – Japan and Korea at war again. More rebel problems for China’s Ming rulers.
11 June, 1670 – We get a Successful Company event that gives us some ducats 1 Sept – The next Manufactory has arrived: Weapons Manufactory for Yakut 20 Dec – Fur trading is the trade of the day in Baykha 16 Apr, 1671 – Japan cancelled military access we had with them…? Japan, once again, sees us with ambition I order some more forces built in and around Kamchatka 6 May – East Tunguska – Temple ordered here. Iron mines, 1taxvalue, 3.67 gold, arctic. Next target has to be Narim. It’s south west of Baykha and adjacent to Muscovy twice and Oirat once. It cuts off expansion this way. But I can’t get to it until Baykha is a core. So I do Turukhan instead. Next to Narim, Baykha, West Tung, Ket and Tomsk. Let’s get that thing locked in now. 10 June – We kill the natives in Turukhan 4 Sept – West Tunguska – Iron mines, temple 3.68 gold, 1 tax value (You might remember Tunguska from the Tunguska Event, a huge crash by a an outer space object in 1908)

9 Apr –I send new colonists to Chulym, south of West T . 19 July – All of the natives in Chulym are down 1 Aug – New Tech! Tenaille (Mil – 14) Better infantry fire, combat width, and we get some new units We get new cavalry – Asian Charge Cavalry 1 Nov, 1672 – Our King passed Duolan is now ruling (2/3/3 – pretty weak these days – but he has an amazing heir) I boost our stability back to 3 11 Apr, 1673 – Britain just lost a major war against Portugal, which is sad. Britain likes us. 15 June – I get news that Moscow beat us to Narim, and are colonizing it now

1 Jan, 1674 – Baykha is now a full fledged province and we missed getting Narim by that much
Baykha – I have ordered an Earth Rampart here. 3.19 gold made from the 1 tax value and fur trade. Next to Moscow in Mangazea and apparently Narim, next to us in Uchamin and Turukhan We have an obvious place to go – Ket. But it’s next to Turukhan and we can’t get there yet (no core next to it). So instead… Tomsk – next to Oirat (in Vah) and adjacent to West T, Chulym and Turukhan as well as Ket It shuts the door. If we can get Ket that’s great, but it’s no rush 11 Jan – Fur in Turukhan We can now Westernize… Let’s do it! 3 stability drop. I immediately jump it back up to 1 and then 2 I don’t want to use my last ADM to get it up higher – I need to save for Westernization 31 Mar – Government Officials Resist Westernization…Ignore their demands but that’s a huge hit to power. 7 May – We kill natives in Tomsk 15 Sept – As I have chances, I’ve also been trying to build up my reputation with local colonial nations on the west side of the Americas. Portuguese Columbia and Castilian Peru and no Rio da Prata and so forth, 2 Oct – Copper in Chulym 16 Dec – Uh oh! Colonial Border Conflict event occurs Settlers from Kamchadal California crossed the border into Nootka in Kamchadal Alaska. Alaska then sent in militia to drive them out, and got a little overzealous and raided and burned back to Squamish. And obviously the conflict has escalated from there I have four options: Let Them Sort it Out – I lose prestige Remove the Governor of K.A. – KA dislikes me, KC like me Remove the Governor of K.C. – KC dislikes, KA likes Sort our their difference – Lose some diplo power (which I have tons of) I sort it out! 1 Feb, 1675 – Star Fort ordered for Baykha 1 April – Provinces resist Westernization I grant Autonomy for 10 years, and it drops national unrest but also drops taxes 15 June – Corrupt Viceroys strike and we lose 10% tariffs for 5 years 1 Aug – Turukhan – Next to Narim (Muscowy) and a bunch of our provinces. I order an Earthen Rampart here. We get 3.08 gold from the 1 tax value and fur trade I order folks to Ket next I need to suck up to Oirat. I guarantee them, and then offer them military access. 5 Nov – They offer us a Royal Marriage, and I accept.

2 Feb, 1676 – Marketplace ordered for Baykha
I change our National Focus to nothing. All techs equal 27 Mar – I can’t get close to an alliance with Oirat, but hopefully the Royal Marriage will keep them off 1 Apr – Provinces resist again and again I grant autonomy 9 May – Fur found in Tomsk 1 Apr, 1677 – Peasants resist. I gain local unrest for 10 years and massive local taxes cut in half Luckily, taxes aren’t where I get my income from! 11 Sept – We are out of Admin power to use to develop our stuff. 23 Jan, 1678 – I order 1000 artillery in Baykha 16 Mar – Fur in Ket 1 Apr – I get 14000 troops rebels in Maya against the process. I order an army to close. I send my ruler at the head of our army to help fight the rebels. We have around 50 mil power left, and I don’t want it use it on a general 5 Sept – Britain has their first colony in the Indies area – Bangka, an island just off the coast of Sumatra Island Portugal has captured the southern part of India

1 Apr, 1679 – High Command resist and we lose a lot of tradition
1 May – Tomsk – Fur trading is fun! As is making 3.08 gold off a 1 tax value. Next up is Kan, next to Chulym and Tomsk 7 July _ Took a while, but rebels are down 1 Aug - - Chulym – Copper for the win! 1 tax value, but 2.78 gold and next to Tomsk, Kan, and O head east to Angara (south of both Tunguskas) 1 Dec – I get a more completed map, awesome! Morocco has some colonies in northern South America. Denmark is in Paramaribo in Brazil. There are tons of coastal lands here that are unclaimed, which is oddly the exactly opposite of the western side of the land. 1 Apr, 1680 – We get more peasants against the system 6 Apri – I have taken out both groups of local natives in Kan and Angara 18 June – We get a Ship Building Problems event, 50% worse building for 5 years 1 Nov – Ket – Next to Muscovy in Narim and Oirat in Agan and Vah, we are on the edge with this fur trading province. They make us 3.07 gold off 1 tax value. Next is Judjur, adjacent to Manchu and on the coast, by Okhotsk and Maya 1 April, 1681 – This time we have our army resist again

7 Oct, 1685 –
We have completed our Westernization process! After Westernization, with the neighbor bonus and without the cost of the Chinese Tech Group, here is an example of what I need for the next level in my techs: Admin level 16 – 336 Diplo level 17 – 384 Military level 15 – 312 That’s really, really easy to do. We can use the next little bit to massively play catchup 19 Nov – We get pulled into some minor war with Manchuria. This is the first time they have ever asked us to join them. So I do so, against some minor lower level states. I don’t want to lose my only-ever ally. We are now at war with…Crimea and the Ottomans. Not really a major concern there. 1 Jan, 1686 – Well, I have almost 1000 gold from the past decade or so. I couldn’t spend much in the way of gold because of not wanting to use up power. Now I can build a Unique Building. The only one left is Fine Arts Academy which just reduces the cost for stability by a bit. I get University at level 17 Admin. That certainly is worth it. I’ll wait for a couple of techs. I’ll spend down to 800, but then keep that much in my treasury for a while. I order: Earth Rampart in Ket Temple in Baykha Temple in Turukhan 17 Apr – Hi Japan! They have begun to colonize Taiwan. Meanwhile Brunei is colonizing an island in the Spice Isles (Buru) 1 June – Japan has lost two revolters! Date and Ainu have declared their independence. Let’s curry favor with Ainu. Again… The Ainu are from the same dynasty as our King, by the way 22 June – Peace with Ottomans/Crimea. That was fast! 1 July – Jugjur – The naval supplies in this brand new colony are ready to rock! With 1 tax value, 2.37 gold, and a port, this place is south of Okhotsk, north of two Manchu holdings (Udi, Urkan) and next to our colony of Stanovoy. Let’s build a Temple here! I’m not sure where to go next… 7 July - We re-capture Maya from the rebels

Let me show you the new world so you can see the things I see:
Here’s South America – Portugal is all up and down. I don’t have the colonial range to hit the east coast of S. America, nor would I really want to. One of the benefits of Westernizing is that we can see the whole map, according to the European powers There’s just no major direction here to explore and set up a colony. (You can see Morocco on the coast by Trinidad and Tobago – Denmark is the red past that one Portugal colony down-coast)

Now North America -
You can see large battles and colonies in Central America. New Castile has continued to expand. We have Florida, the UK, French Canada, the Dutch all over the area. Vinland is a Colonial Nation of Norway. So Norway has taken a lot there. There’s also a New Norway in the Virginia, DC, Maryland area. And a New Netherlands north of Florida in the Carolinas, below Denmark who has some land there as well. There’s just no obvious expansion area anywhere here. Clearly I don’t want to expand south of Kamchadal California. I don’t want to run up against Castile, not even New Castile. I could also expand between the two different areas of K.C. to connect them (three coastal provinces are there) but we don’t get wealthy provinces, nor do we get the proceeds of our labor. Similarly, I could delve heavily into Western Canadia. But how much is that worth? Plus we won’t keep what we find There are tons of Indies that are open. But that’s not really the direction I’m liking. Too much distance, not even support via navy/army I have the range to hit northern Australia. But that’s a bit too far.

Here’s Siberia close in:
These are all of the unclaimed provinces. Now, I can keep working down the Oirat, but I am expanding faster than I can build up defenses here, and I don’t know if I want to hit the Oirat in too many places (We are pink, Oirat in white, Muscovy is orange, and Manchuria is dark orange) There are 7 provinces back here. And I think, for now, I still need to keep building my defenses and such. So we need to keep clear of everything else! Now, where should my next targets be? Siberia weakens me defensively for now. Investing in weaker provinces in Western North America just goes somewhere else after we work on them. Indies are too far to protect. There is another option. I could explore the Pacific and grab islands there. But that’s not historically a path to financial success. For now, let’s punt. I send colonists to Siuslaw, south of Chinook.

21 July - I cancel the mission to placate Moscow
14 Sept – We wipe out the natives in Siuslaw – I move to the other two coastal provinces to do the same 23 Oct – Iron mines open in Stanovoy! 28 Oct – We have wiped out natives from Yuki and Klamath as well 13 Nov – Fur in Nukhtui 15 Dec – And now the same to Stanovoy! 1 Apr, 1687 – Star Fort ordered for Ket; Earthen Rampart for Tomsk 25 Aug – Constable for Jugjur 10 Jan, 1688 – Another Generation of Cowards event 13 Apr – Star Fort ordered for Turukhan 23 May – I accept a mission to build a large fort in Baykha. And I do, I order a Tenaille here (80 gold) 2 Aug – Gold found in Siuslaw Another Ming/Machu war has begun, with allies all in 1 Oct – I boost our stability back to +2 11 Nov – Huge numbers of Pretender Rebels have just broken out all over Ming – 27000 here, 25000 there, 27000, 25000, 28000 and 24000, and 14000. That’s a lot. That is going to crush the Ming Dynasty. That many rebels, plus and invading Manchu and Yi and another war with Dai Viet and Ayutthaya? That feels like a dead China walking

28 Feb, 1689 – We have entered into a Royal Marriage with Ainu
1 Mar – New Tech! Merchantman (Dip 17) Better colonial range, trade range, trade efficiency, and we can build two new vessels (Galiot and Merchantman) The Merchantman is our latest vessel ship 26 Apr – I land our fleet in Kamchatka and order them upgraded I also order another Early Frigate here 26 May – Mission completed. Our next is to build a Star Fort in Tomsk. I do just that 31 July – We have too many diplomatic relations and are losing 1 dip power each month. I cancel military access with Britain to stop that. 1 Sept – Stanovoy – The iron mines here fetch us 3.05 gold from the 1 tax value. Inland and west of Jugjur, this holding is south of Nukthui, Aldan, and Maya. It’s unfortunately next to Manchuria at Ukran and Oiratat Chara. Next target - Klamath, south of Siuslaw, in the new World 1 Dec – Nukthui – Fur trading is still a thing, apparently. People still want them! The low 1 tax value hurts, but we make 1.95 gold, so, um….yay? West of Aldan, northwest of Stanovoy, and south of Yakut. It’s east of unclaimed land in Mukhtuya, and north of two Oirat holdings (Kirenga, Chara) Next up is Yuki, to finish that land connection for K.C. 14 Jan, 1690 – I ease the tension with a Diplomatic Insult event and gain some relations with Muscovy 17 Feb - KC has begun colonizing inland of their territory and they found another gold territory in Maidu 31 May – We finish that mission. Our next is to fortify Nukthui. I agree and we order that Earthen Rampart right now 30 June We get a Successful Bureaucracy Event. Yay Admin Power! 27 Aug – After trying for independence, Portuguese Brazil fails and got smashed. Japan continues with another colony in Taiwan 2 Dec – Portugal no longer is severely coveting our land, and our relations are pretty good at +70 Castile still does though. Sad. 18 Feb, 1691 – New Tech! Maurician Infantry (Mil 15) We get better tactics, Asian Mass Infantry, and improved land morale 1 Apr – Siuslaw – Gold, given to K.C. Next colony – Flores, large island in the south of the Indies. Somebody’s gotta move in here. Flores has 4 tax value, small numbers of relatively peaceful natives, and creates a new place for me to explore further if I desire.

26 Apr – Man, Ming is in a bad way. Here, let me snap a quick pic, just to show you
Dang! That’s nasty stuff right there. You can see huge rebels all over, Manchuria has troops in the north, the Oirat has taken stuff in the east, Yi has a holding, you can see where Miao and Yi have formed a while ago. Good luck Ming!

2 June – We finish the next mission. Our next is to Tenaille in Ket.
I also order a Workshop for Jugjur Ainu is trying to take out Date 4 Nov – Earth Rampart ordered for Stanovoy 12 Nov – Uh oh. Our King has died! But our new King is incredible! Meet Tolluman a 5/6/5 king. Our heir isn’t super hot (2/3/1). Long may Tolluman reign! Our stability drops to 1 We are making 8/9/8 in investment right now. 1 Feb, 1692 – New Tech College & Mint (Admin 16) We can build colleges and mints. We renew our marriage with Manchuria and Ainu 6 Mar – Fur in Klamath 1 April – Ming is broken from the rebels Japan absorbed Date again 3 May – I begin to improve relations with Majapahit in southern Indies (and Java particularly) 7 June – Mission completed. Next up – Turn Flores into a city 29 June – Grain in Yuki Marketplace ordered for Jugjur, and Temple for Nukhtui 3 Dec – Oirat Horde just took 6 provinces from Ming 10 Apr, 1693 – Constable for Baykha; Temples for Angara, Kan, Chulym 13 June – Should I ally with Ainu? I could probably vassalize them later, and maybe even annex them. But I don’t know if I want to fight off Japan. But we are in a better place now. Japan is still Chinese Tech, with a 16 military tech. We are at 15 and quickly growing. Japan has 36k armies. We have 27k. That’s not that different. Add in allies (Manchu, Ainu, two colony nations) and that’s do-able. Japan has a bigger navy (53 ships vs our 26) But that’s it. This is do-able. We announce that we have allied with Ainu I order another Early Frigate built 14 July - I send a small gift to Ainu of 50 gold for huge benefits Sorry, they are too backward for vassalization. 20 Nov – New Tech! Customs House and Naval Base (Dip 18) We can build those 18 Jan, 1694 – I choose Local Fortifications for an expert unearthed in Gizhiga 4 Oct – Tech Gain! Standardization of Calibre (Mil 16) Better cannon, better artillery fire and shock ,and we can build Arsenals 5 Nov – To prepare for more relations, I cancel our military access to New Castile

250 Year Review! We’ve spent this entire 50 years increasing our colonies considerably, and have gone deep into Siberia. Here’s a map of Asia and Europe We’ve clearly moved in detail into Siberia. I need to keep our folks in line with borderers, but for right now, we’re fine You can see the mass gains by the mega-Oirat Horde in the south from the Ming Dynasty in China. You can also see Ainu in Hokkaido and the Kurils, just beneath us. Muscovy has moved into Scandinavia. Check out our techs, money, armies and such on the side. Our allies are Manchu and Ainu. We have two colonial nations – Kamchadal Alaska and Kamchadal California.

1 Dec – Klamath is now a full province and is handed to KC.
Our next colonial target is East Timor 30 Jan, 1695 - We announce a royal marriage with Brunei. 2 Apr – Ainu has agreed to become our Protectorate. This does several things to help them. For example, they get tech development reductions across the board. They’ll give us some trade power and stuff. Everybody wins! 20 Apr - I accept an alliance offer from Brunei I order some Merchantmen in Kamchatka built 3 June – We get a Colonial Company goes Bankrupt and I pay 50 cash to keep them afloat 1 July – Yuki is now self-sustaining. Next target is West Timor New Tech! University (Admin 17) New Group of Ideas and we can build University. I order one built immediately in Kamchatka. Because we are spending tech in catching up post-Westernize, I hold off on the next Idea for now. 4 Oct – I order – Star Fort in Stanovoy, Constable in both Tunguskas 13 Nov – Chinaware in Flores 23 May, 1696 – I use a new settlement in West Timor to increase the tax value there

10 July – What we have been fearing has come to pass. The Oirat Horde declares war upon me!
And it’s all downhill from here I call on Manchu, and they chose us over Oirat. The Oirat Horde is using a Horde Claim on us. I order my army over from Jugjur to Stanovoy and thence to Chara I order some troops built in a bunch of places A huge Oirat army is heading for Ket I was going to rally there but instead I move to Turukhan and build up there 19 Oct – 31000 troops arrive in Ket. They begin a siege 15 Nov – 15000 of our troops arrive in Chara and begin a siege 15 Dec – I send some newly built units into Tannu Uriankhan to try and get in a sneak siege from across the Siberia no man’s land 23 Jan, 1697 – We send our King to the forefront of the siege in Chara I3 Feb – I order some mercs ot build our forces in the west quickly 16 Mar – I order war Taxes levied Unfortunately, the cold winter I was hoping for in Ket was not to be. 13 Apr – We win a major battle in Chara after being supported by Manchu forces, against an army of 36,000 strong 13 Ma y- I get a Military Reform event and choose to reform the Army, whch gives us huge boneus and 200 mil power New Tech – Flintlock Musket – (Mil 17) We get +1 shock of cavalry and banner Cavalry 2 June – They took Ket 24 June – We take Chara I cut colony maintenance to help pay for this stuff 16 July – Kamchatka University, Class of 1697 – I gain 10 prestige They are moving their Ket army to Turukhan, and it could be anyone’s battle, frankly. They lost some people to attrition in Ket. We have built up a force 24,000 strong. This is doable 28 Sept – We lose, but we took down a bunch of their forces – they lost more than 10000 troops doing so. They are down to around 16k besieging Turukhan I begin to order a rally point to rebuild from We have 12.7k survive We’ll use West Tunguska 1 Oct – Tech Increase – The War Galleon (Dip Tech – 19) Better colonial range, naval morale and we get two new ships (Frigate, Wargalleon) 11 Oct – I am forced to take out a loan of 200 odd gold to keep the momentum our way 6 Nov – A few of our troops leak into Ket 4 Dec – I don’t know why, but their army is chasing us and arrive in West T. 24 Dec – I boost our stability to 2 11 Jan, 1698 – They arrive in Tomsk And now to Vah? Why leaving? Where are you going Oirat? 27 jan – We captured Tannu Uriankhai I move inland to Uliastai 1 Mar – I get caught in Ket and lose some forces there 21 April – Manchu has captured 2 provinces I offer peace to Oirat and concede. We’re ahead in the warscore by +9%. So instead of pushing it, I just wanted to call it. But the Oirat Horde wouldn’t take a white peace. They have technically won, and we lose some prestige, but this gives me a chance to rebuild my military, defenses, and economy. I would not have been able to keep up that pace for overly long. Meanwhile, this may have been a huge long-term hit for the Horde. They forced Manchuria to choose between them and us, and they chose us. They have created a potential long term foe.

31 May – I get a Colonial Ventures event and for 10 years get bonus shop costs by -10% dip tech cost
Oh, and the University grants me -5% tech costs across the board 6 June – Chinaware also in East Timor 5 July – Next Tech – Carbine (Mil 18) Better combat width, cannon, and we get improved maneuver in battle 4 Aug – We put down a native attack in Flores with the 3k infantry stationed here Ming is undergoing another huge rebel problem I pass a Policy the Agricultural Cultivation. We have completed both Quantity and Economic Ideas. It will cost one ADM each month. We get +33% land forcelmits! Now we are able to keep the army we built up in war 1 Jan, 1699 – Great Britain is coveting our stuff. Sadly. Castile and Portugal still as well Castile has pissed me off by colonizing two islands right by me. There’s TONS OF PLACES to go in the Indies. Why come near me? They are in Sumba, Temdena, and also Sula, near Borneo 11 Jun – China in West Timor as well. 28 Nov – I repay my loan and begin upgrading some of my ships 10 July, 1700 – Corrupt Viceroys hit again for 5 years and a tariff hit 1 Dec – Flores – We completed our mission here Chinaware and a 5 tax value give us 10.81 gold in the long island chain. It crosses to Sumbawa and East Timor. I order an Earth Rampart here to help our next mission and Sumbawa is now the next colony target. Majapahit has a claim on this province they made against us.

As far as I’m concerned, it’s everyone here in the Indies against Europe 1 Oct – East Timor – With Chinaware a go go, this tropical province is next to West Timor and can cross to Flores. We get 5.68 gold from the 2 tax value here. I order an Earthen Rampart constructed here for defense. For my next target, I do like Lombok, which is west and adjacent to Sumbawa, but its east and adjacent to Bali (adjacent according to strait crossings that don’t need ships). Now sure I want to be bext to Bali and Majapahit yet. I want to build up our relations first. So, let’s hit up somewhere else. I could do Ambom or Ceram, by the Brunei colony of Buru Ming is colonizing Halmahera. No one has touched the Philippines, but I’m not interested in that right now. I could do southern Borneo, or part of Sulawesi Island. Ambom has the best tax value, so I’ll just take it. It’s in the same Sea of Banda as East Timor and part of Flores 15 Nov – I send a dispatch to Majapahit to begin to continue to work our magic with them.

We’ve had another Japan/Korea war break out
9 Feb, 1709 – Let me get you a picture of the busy Indies, as they stand now Alright, let’s look at the map. We have Malacca on the right, Protectorate of Portugal. Portugal has colonies just to the left of Malacca and that little green island between Malacca and Borneo. Castile has multiple provinces – all islands with the Castile dark yellow are Castile. That includes the Andamans to the west of Malacca/Ayutthaya at the top of the map and just west of Malacca below those Portugal islands. Castile has two islands near us in the south, one just by the blue island near the center. The yellow south of Sulawesi Island and south-east of the Philippines (Ternate) are independent countries here. Then you have our Pink in the bottom in Sumbawa, Flores, East and West Timor. We also have Ambom and Ceram where those Kamchadal Pink are in the right of the Spice Isles. Brunei is in the middle of Borneo, and also has a colony-now-province west of ours in the Spice Isles. That’s the island of Buru. Ming has an on going colony in Halmahera, in the Spice Islands and adjacent to Ternate. Majapahit is the long deep red nation on Java island to our west. In the south. That red island east of Malacca? That’s Great Britain. Meanwhile, Malacca have been progressing down the island by colonizing. So, you can see Luwu on Sulawesi, Kutai, Brunei, Majapahit, Malacca, and Ternate. The tiny islands between the Philippines and Borneo are the nation of Sulu. The small yellow islands off Sulawesi is Buton. All of those local nations we’ve been making nice with diplomatically. As well, we’re working on England, Castile, and Portugal when I get a chance. It’s very busy right now. Left? Southern Borneo, tip of island by Malacca, Lombok island (between us in the south) most of Sulawesi island, Philippines, a few islands here and there on the east, and then you could go east into Papua-New Guinea if you are feeling spicy. Oh, and Christmas Island is that unclaimed island south of Majapahit, it’s eligible too.

The 300 Year Review!!! Let’s call it in grand fashion, after 300 years of peace and success! Let’s begin with maps! Here’s Siberia, Asia and Europe for ya: So there’s Map 1. Our Siberia Holdings are a bit smoother. There’s still some stuff down there I didn’t want to move into that quickly. You can see the grossly expanded Oirat Horde, as well as our roughly-eternal ally in Manchuria. Ming is in the middle of yet another rebel horde. Ming China is a thing of the past, and you can see nations like Dai Viet, Manchu, Yi, Miao, and Oirat have just nibbled at it over time. The red at the base of Korea is land that Japan took. Because of our support of Ainu in the north after revolting, Japan never came back and took it. Novgorod won some wars vs Muscovy, and I have to admit, Muscovy was the best neighbor ever. I had 14000 troops stationed on the border ever since I connected to them, and they never brought over any troops, never fabricated claims against me, and never came my way at all. They helped me Westernize, and were the best neighbor I’ve had in quite a while.

Alright, next, up, the Indies:
As you can see, it’s very similar to before, so I won’t bore you with repeating stuff. Note that Malacca is the first nation to colonize the Philippines. You can also see Malacca’s gains in Java from Majapahit. You can see Palau, our colony far to the east of the Philippines and we have Halmahera, in between all of those forces in the Sea of Ternate (which includes Tidore and Ternate) Great Britain took Christmas Island, and Portugal the small island in the south-east. No one has touched Papua-New Guinea. Fears of this being a Castilian sea were not founded.

The Pacific and stuff!
I had to zoom out and it’s hard. East of the Paused bar is Midway and thence to Hawaii. Below it are several islands we have. West is Guam. Tahiti is the far east island chain. Portugal took the western edge of Australia, and southern New Zealand. Castilian Tierra Austral is strong and mighty, and even the UK took some stuff in New Zealand and New Caledonia.

South America!
There are still vast swaths of South America unclaimed, which strikes me as quite odd, since we have like every scrap of other places taken (you’ll see) Why Great Britain and Portugal saw the need to take every province in Alaska astonishes me, but left wealthy coastal and inland provinces in Brazil and other places untouched is beside me. The Moroccan colony is now three provinces, And Denmark had more until colonies were burned in war. By Austria. You have Portugal, France, all over and currently under ownership is Castilen La Plata and Peru

Now let’s get real. North America!
We only colonized two continents. Siberia and North America. You can see us in Aleut and down through Kamchadal Alaska, and then Kamchadal California. They are still at war. Meanwhile, Castile has spread across the map like an ugly yellow blob. All of that New Castile Yellow you see in Central America is also New Castile. They are an ugly bear. Combine with Florida and Castilian Louisiana and you have a huge problem. Note that Navajo absorbed multiple tribes around it Anyway, you have Dutch Louisiana, and Norway’s Vinland still there. Nova Hollandia is in Canada, representing the world in Orange. You also have French Canada and the Thirteen Colonies. Don’t ignore New Norway in Virginia, Denmark and the Netherlands in the Carolinas, and such.

Alright, now let’s look at stuff other than maps!
Our Allies: Majapahit, Tidore, Manchu Colonial Nations: Kamchadal Alaska, Kamchadal California Protectorates: Ainu, Sulu, Buton, Ternate, Luwu Royal Marriage: Majapahit, Manchu, Tidore Military Access: Via Muscovy Ranking: Admin – 16th Diplo – 41st Mil – 76th That’s so far behind where I normally am, it’s awesome! I intentionally left my military behind the last 25 years or so and built my economy and nation instead. Butter over guns! We make 65.28 gold monthly. That’s 19th best. The best? Portugal with 309.54. The most techs? 80 The least? 22 (by some revoloters). We have 73. So we mostly caught up there. 22 ideas is pretty low though. The most ideas was 46. We have the 162nd highest score We have 53 provinces That includes the 4 colonies of Hawaii, Midway, Micronesia and Marshall Islands We had 37000 troops, and again, we did not expand. The most was Oirat with 242000, and then Frnace with 175000. We have as many troops as New Castile does. We have 30 ships. The most is Portugal with 425. Kam. Cal. has more than us!

My assessment of the dynasty:
Well, some assessment. This is my first dynasty I’ve ever played as a pagan nation at all. Luckily I didn’t do it in a harder game (EU2, EU3). Yuck. We started way out there, and we had little in the way of war. I beat all three local one province Siberian Clan Tribe folks, and then later, much later, I took out a one province tribe in Washington State and then a two province trice right beside it. And then that was it. And those lands went to Colonial Nations. We westernized, we swapped governments and finished with an Administrative Monarchy which worked fine from where I’m sitting. No issues here at all. I think our presence was mostly expected based on the game. We took Kamchatka and eastern Siberia very early. Then hopped to Aleut, and then back to Siberia a bit. We waited on Siberia for a while, jumped to wealthier land abroad in California, and then built a colony there for a while, and then hopped around the New World for quite some time, building two colonial nations. Then it was back to Siberia with a lot of colonies. It wasn’t until we pushed Siberia as safely as we could before heading to the Indies to fight for what was left, and then European powers, and lots of Asian ones, moved in and expanded into the area. We grabbed a handful of colonies in the Indies (Sumbawa, Lombok, Flores, East & West Timor, Halmahera, Ampom, Ceram) and that’s it. We didn’t expand militarily (although we could have, we could have taken Sulu, Tidore, Ternate, etc) instead playing nice in the area. We allied with Brunei, Majapahit, and many others. Then after influencing the area and finished our 8 islands, we hopped to the Pacific and began to gobble stuff there while filling in Siberia. Never fought for islands in the Indian Ocean, South America, Africa, Asia main continent (outside of Siberia/Kamchatka) and we steered clear for Borneo, Sulawesi, Philippines, Taiwan, etc. Very realistic representation of a nation that united the Siberian tribes, was out of the world sight while building and switching government, and then beginning to move down. And remember that our dynasty was hurt for a while by a 50+ year King with the worst possible stats 1/1/1. That was just awful. I think we did well.

After finishing a dynasty like this, particularly one that uses a new expansion very heavily, I know folks will want my full assessment on everything.
First of all, in a game with an expansion that wanted to push the playability of pagans, there were a few rules that really hamstrung us. The first is the gold thing. Not getting full value out of gold makes no sense. It makes even less sense being tied to the one thing I can’t change – religion. Make it tied to the Siberian Clan Council or something instead. Give me the chance to change/fix it! I also hated the autonomy for colonies near me, or next to me. This hurts people in areas with a lot of open territory. Perhaps we could have a colony, even one adjacent, start with a 50% autonomy, and have it drop over time, just like a captured province. Makes sense. I think that mechanic was at its most laughable when we saw the one tribe move from one province (Kolyma) to another (Yarmanka) then I captured the new one and colonized the old. Even though the move happened and then we moved in, the captured land, right beside the colonized one, had its autonomy get cut over time. The difference in value of those two provinces, after centuries, is crazy. I’ve asked for more trade goods for a long time, and after my run through with cocoa’s addition in my last EU3, I remarked that I hope it was the beginning of the floodgates. And we got three new trade goods – Tropical Wood, Dyes, and Silk. I thought they were all good changes. I also enjoyed the dynamism of how trade goods weren’t just supply and demand anymore, but there were events that changed the demand of goods. Slaves were tied to the rise of plantation goods, for example. I’ve never felt the trade goods feel more organic than I did in this run through. I absolutely adored the new additions to provinces, nations, and such that inspired me to run this dynasty. Good stuff! Technical Stuff – Except for my war with Oirat, I was on the fastest sim speed the entire time. I blew through years in minutes. I’ve never finished 300 years in a dynasty in four days. That’s crazy. It took me some extra time due to slowdown at the end though. Victoria II had a similar issue that kept me from coming back. I usually end my FOFC dynasties earlier than 300 years when some pre-given condition is met. I might run 200 years in a week of real life time. Maybe a little slower. This? Thsat was crazy! I’m still in an EU4 mood actually. At this rate , I could run a whole other dynasty! Maybe I’ll just read or something instead! Let me know if you have any questions. I do like autonomy as a mechanic, just not as the hoser of all things colony. I think it needs some trimming. There ‘s a Steam Workshop mod to remove it, but that stuff is always buyer beware, you know?
