I forgot about the classic stadium bonus for preordering. I've never preordered a game before but might have to this time. Trying to decide between waiting a few days for the game to ship from Amazon or making a longish drive to Gamestop to preorder and then have to drive there again to pick the game up in a few days.

edit: Just found out I can pre-order online from Gamestop's website and pick it up in the store. Less driving, no waiting for the game to ship, and I'll get the stadiums. That works.

I'm glad you found that Gamestop option but why doesn't Amazon have a release day delivery option for MLB 10? They do it for most games and this would seem to be a logical choice given how well the game sells.

Mine was shipped on Friday from VG+ store in Canada, should be here at the end of this week as i used standard air mail shipping option this time.

Last time i used DHL shipping the Spanish customs kept the pack for 14 days to check that everything was legal, as DHL declared that it was an imported game, while standard mail doesn't declare anything but "gift".

Well, I had preordered through GameCrazy but because I wasn't within 10 days, they call and tell me they don't have a copy for me. Sucks. I go to Gamespot's website at the advice of my brother as he tells me I can still preorder today and they will have it in-store tomorrow. Sure enough that's what it says and I go through things to make it happen. Hopefully, it'll end up working tomorrow when I try and get my game.

From ones players perspective on OP- it looks like franchise mode may need a patch:

Some franchise things that I have noticed so far....

THE Bad

This is the thing I hate the most. Trade waivers. I put a claim on Adrian Gonz, Palpabon, Wagner, and someone else......guess what THEY GAVE them to me...That's right they didn't pull them back or try to make a trade...just gave them to me.

The interest bar for trades is still in....makes the email system worthless....why wait when we know the trade is going to be accepted?

Trade logic seems worst to me. I traded Posada and Chamberlain for Mauer. Traded Vasquez for Greinke straight up. Last year I could not pry Mauer away.....this year full interest.

The Greinke trade makes no sense at all straight up they take an extra 5 mil in salary and 6 years older?

Transactions still are not sortable. So to see what trades have happened in the league you have to run through a long file again.

My injuries in the email does not seem to work. I have had numerous injuries yet no emails.

Red Sox traded Lester and Beckett in May for prospects when they are 3 games back?

There is no stats for the A players.

No notification when players are placed on waivers you have to monitor this every day. Would be nice if prompt or email came up saying such and such was placed on waivers like last year.

2nd season I season Palpabon in AAA and wagner in AA. Alex Gordon in AAA Cole Hamels in AAA, Adam Jones AAA...worst part for all they are the higher rated player.

I love the series in general, but this doesn't sound good. Logic this far off doesn't often get fixed in a patch. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I'm not a franchise guy so it's not a big deal to me. Seems to be an issue with potential though being given too much weight for older players.

I've got this and Bad Company 2 coming today. Already starting to play up a cough to the girlfriend so I can get out of any activities she has planned this weekend.

Same here. I'm strictly a RTTS player (I remember hearing somewhere that the majority of players use that mode for their primary gaming). I'll be watching for any info on that.

Regarding the classic stadiums, since I didn't preorder, what do I have to do/accomplish to get those stadiums? I was going to drop by and purchase the game after work.

That's pretty weak re: franchise mode. Last year I'd alternate between that and RTTS and even in RTTS you want the teams to be making sensible trades, signings, call-ups, and demotions. I guess I'll start finding out how bad it is in a few hours when I pick up the game.

If those reports were for MLB2K10 for the 360, you'd be talking smack about the game and trying to sell more PS3's.

If even half of those things listed above are true, franchise mode is a complete train wreck.

While I just play it as a role playing sports game, even in that mode these things could crop up. I know how thrilled I'll be to start a career with the Twins and see Joe traded for Posada and Chamberlain. That'll make me really happy.

I've got the game coming pre order today, but if the game is this badly broken and an immediate fix isn't released, there are many, many other good games worthy of my time right now. If the guy above is wrong, that's one thing. If he's right, I'm pretty unhappy right now.

Which is a ridiculous assertion. I think we forget far too quickly the condition of both games when they were released last season. Both were rough around the edges to say the least. Sony was very responsive and tackled the problems with a very good patch. 2K Sports took several months to issue a meaningful patch to address the issues. I said that it was awfully early to be declaring EITHER game unfit or fit. That's a very fair assessment of the situation.

I wound up not getting the game early as the Fedex guy just flat out never showed up to the store I was getting it at yesterday. Such is life on the islands...sometimes delivery guys show up, sometimes they don't. I wound up walking into a Gamestop and pre-ordering with the understanding that they would have it for me Tuesday morning. Does that mean I still get to unlock the classic stadiums? Truth be told I will probably never use them, but since I pre-ordered I might as well get some perks.

Broken is a game that locks up and doesn't even allow you to play the game (as in MLB 09: The Show). Didn't seem to hurt that game too much in the end. Trades/waiver trades is something you can turn off for a couple of weeks until a patch is issued to correct it. Sure, it's not working right, but it's something that can be resolved with a patch, and Sony has shown in the past that they're good about addressing the issues in a prompt manner.

All games do. Last year those issues were a bit bigger, but they weren't game killing and they were fixed quickly.

That list above is ridiculous. The Show is one of the rare games I can count on yearly to at least have some form of beta testing. The list above is what I expect out of Madden on a yearly basis, not this game.

If I appear snippy, I'm sorry. I'm just a tad frustrated about that list.

I don't disagree. I had the same initial reaction, though I'm willing to let the situation develop a bit more before passing full judgment. You're well aware how I felt about the Madden decline.

One of the pluses of the Madden/EA debacle over the last few years has been an increase in developers posting on sites like OS. The Show developers have mandated a certain format for the bugs thread so they can address issues as quick as possible. I'll be interested to see some of their comments going forward. They're usually pretty forthright in their discussion points.

MBBF, what the hell are you talking about? MLB '09 had three major problems out of the gate. Online play was screwed up and it was fixed quickly. Secondly, players retired too quickly. The lockups? They usually happened sometime in 2011 and there was a work around someone found within three days. (the work around involved simming a whopping two days of your career) It didn't have game killing bugs that impacted everyone that played it. Bill Abner actually gave it a sparkling review after having it hands on and digging through franchise mode a week before the game came out.

Only someone who wanted to play online instantly had problems. The stuff in that post above? That isn't just a simple waiver problem. Again, IF that is true, the franchise mode at this point is FUBAR. Trades, injury emails, waivers, age logic. . . Fixing a crash bug is one thing. Fixing online or tweaking at what age players retire is one thing. . . having a patch fix a mode with that many problems? Sorry, this is different than '09 if true. Much different.

Again, I'm not excusing anything. No matter which problems you believed were the big ones in the last game, there were some issues and people got very excited about them. There's always these issues in sports console games. How quickly they react to them ultimately shapes the view of the consumer.

I was under the impression you had to get all the achievements. Not sure if it's available to purchase.

I haven't picked up the game yet but this really ticks me off. I bought a PS3 about a month ago because 1) I love baseball and 2) The Show is the one franchise that it seemed like was always super solid and dependable. Now this year, it appears to have more worrisome problems than ever before. Why does gaming have to be so frustrating?
