Wait? Isn't that a correct answer? You're not supposed to do that.

It is until the question is changed so I'm wrong.

It wasn't the answer I was looking for, but we'll take it. Hard to argue it as wrong. 3 points for Ardent, which makes him a...zero. However, the question is still on the board. There is a more cryptic answer. |

Assuming I'm still eligible for a question, since [edit] the 3 point question [/edit]is still up:
2 points. Named after Commander Kodos, who, on a terror mission early in our X-COM history, threw two consecutive live grenades into a telephone pole directly in front of him, causing all the agents near him to scramble for cover twice, and pretty much destroying the nearby house.

Ardent already picked up the points for this answer (an unintentional correct answer), but the real answer is still out there. Shaef's hint might help. |

Well, Larry Bird is a "Hoops Guy" and he was also a "Qwikshot." I don't see how AE can get the points and I cannot.

A bit too literal of an answer. The correct answer will be a word in X-COM terminology, like "Sectoid", or "Grenade", or "Blade6119 gets killed again". This might help: Cryptic Crossword solving help Last edited by Godzilla Blitz : 06-23-2004 at 04:36 PM. |

I can see your point, but Hoops Guy refers directly to basketball and is hard to argue against. Qwikshot is a level removed as it doesn't necessarily refer to any particular sport, or sport in general. Also, I mentioned that the real answer is more cryptic once Ardent gave his answer. Sorry if you feel it's unfair, but I don't think I can award points for Qwikshot. To be honest, I probably wouldn't have given Ardent the points either had he not been at -3 to start with. It was more a gesture to get him back in the game. |

Ding ding ding! We have a winner and a partial winner.
FF Froggies picks up two points for Raven Hawk. Raven is a bird and so is "Larry" (Larry Bird). Hawk is a bird and so is "Bird". Bird bird = Raven Hawk. I'm getting a headache. Shaef picks up two points for Ethereal as the correct answer, but the explanation is still up for grabs. Last edited by Godzilla Blitz : 06-23-2004 at 04:54 PM. |

Beginning of 'THE END' is "THE E"
Add that to 'REAL' And you get THEEREAL Rearrange and get ETHEREAL |

Part of being a good agent is always being prepared, so...
Surprise! Round 4 Well take it down a notch in difficulty this time. The first one is a gimme. Who wants it? 2 Points Trivia: Who is our Commander? 3 Points Name the agent: Central Vietnam tapestries get read the other way 4 Points X-COM Terminology: Mostly resale returns (5 letters, answer must be explained) Also, you'll want to keep in mind that the explanation for Round 3's four-point question is still up for grabs. [b]Leaderboard[b] 1. Real Deal: 6 points 2. Jeeber D: 4 points 4. ShaefIllini: 4 points 3. FF Froggies: 3 points 5. Ardent: 2 points |

mostly resale returns is laser
most of "resale" is resal, and "returns" means to spell it backwards. Last edited by RealDeal : 06-23-2004 at 05:25 PM. |

Well, that was quick! All the questions are cleared. Great work, men!
Let's see. Real gets 6 more points. FF Froggies bags 3 points. Shaef gets 2 points. Leaderboard 1. Real Deal: 12 points 2. ShaefIllini: 6 points 3. FF Froggies: 6 points 3. Jeeber D: 4 points 5. Ardent: 2 points Looks like Real Deal is closer to getting himself a ticket to Mars, but we're not quite halfway yet, and FF Froggies is showing some spark, while Shaef hangs tough. Jeeber has dropped off the pace. Round 5 will be posted by a guest poster, our very own "motor listening organ". In order to play fair for all our European friends, we have to try to balance out our posting times. How about torsdag at tre på morgonen CST. See you then! Wakey wakey time for bakey! |

I would again like to point out that your rankings give me 1 more point than I deserve. I only got 2 points on my 1st answer...
Anyway, that's all for me, I'm off to bed. Gotta be up early on 'torsday', right ?

Oops, sorry. I forgot to mention that. Thanks for the honesty, but I think six points is correct. The Raven Hawk name question was worth 3 points, if I'm not mistaken. Patman was also worth three points. |
