I really hope they add VR in for coach mode in the following release... that's the only way I play it now, and would love to be able to march the sidelines and issue voice strategy on the fly.

Odd. In My GM game, the most talented teams are dominating the simulated games. Not seeing any 50 win teams without at least one star or a really solid starting 5.

Same here on the PC. The team I built with the expansion KC Knights had 3 players rated ~90 with others around 80. 4 seasons later after I moved on to Chicago, that team has been the best team in the league each year, winning the title twice and being the #1 seed in the West each year. And they were a PIA to play. I believe I was blown out each time I played the game.

On PS4 (and Xbox One) there was another patch released in the past week or so that fixes the double teaming issue along with many other minor gameplay issues such as excessive bumping. I already was playing this game the most of any version since 2k11, but now it is really the best version ever for me. I can't get enough of it. I think they also adjusted the in game injury frequency a bit. In the NBA Finals against the Warriors, we had Durant break a rib and Simmons in the game 5 clincher suffered an ankle sprain. Both were in played games. After losing to the Warriors twice in the finals, I finally beat them thanks in large part to Durant's injury which limited his shooting and made him a liability. First time I've played this many seasons since NBA 2k11 and I can't wait to continue to play through with this nucleus of Simmons, Saric, Okafor, George, and Luwawu-Cabarrot.

I have to post about this laugh worthy moment -

During the season the Sacramento Kings traded their first round pick for a good but not great SG from the Pacers. I thought it was a curious trade but let it go as the SG is a very solid young player. However, that pick just turned into the #1 pick for the Pacers and their is a true superstar PF who will be huge for them. Poor Kings.

Does the PC version allow you to sim without playing the games?

Yes, you can in myGM at least. I sim a majority of my games.

I believe you can in myCareer. I haven't played it in awhile, so I'm not 100% sure.

You did mean sim and not coach, right?

I also sim the majority of my games. I play 1 and then sim 3 in the regular season. This is PS4 version but no reason PC would be different.

So, I'm in 2022. I've just won a championship with Paul George as my best player, Simmons a close 2nd, and Okafor as a strong interior presence. I have Timothe Luwawu at SG and he has become a deadeye shooter. I have Saric at PF. A very strong core that should win for a long time. But, I see this SG that I'm absolutely fascinated with in the draft. He is 19 year old from China who is 6'8 250 and prefers to play the SG position but can play SF. He averaged 36 ppg in China along with 8 boards and 7 assists. Our scouts feel he is ultra athletic with freakish ball handling skills, and tremendous stealing ability. He is not a very good shooter yet but not terrible. I decide to give the Nets whatever it takes outside of Simmons.

I trade them Paul George, Anton Billingsley (a A rated guy for potential who has not had much playing time and has not lived up to his potential yet) and 4 number 1 picks including one from Chicago that has potential to be high next year.

I get my guy. He comes in with a 99 acceleration, 99 vertical, 94 speed, 82 strength, 95 dunking, and 92 passing. First game is a 26 point night mostly on dunks and midrange jumpers where he is better than expected. He also adds 8 assists. 2nd played game (he also has been averaging 24 points in my simmed games so far) and he has 28 points at the half! Wow. Can't wait to see how many titles he and Simmons win together. This tandem is the reason I will pass on NBA 2k18 (unless it finally allows importing of a franchise.)

Strangely I really only started enjoying 2K17 fairly recently. I started a career using your "play 1/sim 3" playstyle and picking an expansion team in Cincinnati. I'm in year 4 now, rolling out a starting lineup of 82 OVR rated rookie C (#3 pick), Horford, Ingram, Fournier, Exum. Just starting to turn the corner now, and I can see myself playing this dynasty for at least until a big Steam sale price for 2k18.

One of the picks I traded was in the current draft and was the 12th pick overall and the other was the 30th. The SF, Anton, was up to a 77 rating and was only 22 years old. I gave up a lot but Chen is already rated 87 as a rookie and finished with his first 50 point game already. He also had 11 boards and 10 assists for his first career triple double.

Ok. So, I messed up copying the last 12 minutes of the game (Chen was tired and it was a blowout so he sat most of it anyway) but here is his postgame. He played only 30 minutes due to blowout and finished with 37 points, 9 boards, 12 assists, 3 steals, and 4 turnovers. He shot 15 of 24 (mostly dunks and acrobatic layups) but also hit a promising 2 of 4from the arc and 5 of 5 from the line (he is averaging 94% from the line so far this year.)

Edit to add: I'm really impressed how easy the PS4 makes it to upload video.

LOL. He is a C I got mid 1st round a few years ago who has become an excellent backup although he is now demanding to start which isn't happening as long as Okafor is on the team. I'm hoping enough money in his upcoming contract extension will convince him to stick around as a valuable 1st big off the bench.

Edit to add: Chen is #20 and standing behind #50 along the sidelines.

I take back what I said about the PS4 being easy... I've tried to log into YouTube via PS4 and upload a video 4 times and it has failed each time. Chen is having a horrible game as we are going against the Celtics who have a very tough team and can hang with his athleticism, but he had 1 great dunk that I wanted to show.

After several days of being unable to get my PS4 to link with my youtube account, I created a daily motion account to upload videos. Here is the end of the Boston-Philly game. This game featured Boston's #1 pick (who I look at a bit at the end of the video.) I think it is fair to say that he and Chen are probably the top two players I've seen generated in this league. I forgot to mention Chen has the ankle breaker badge and an 86 handle already. I am not good on the sticks and have not been able to break people down, but earlier in the game he completed broke a guy's ankles before dunking it. He had a very rough game but finished strong with a 3 (at the 4 minute mark of the video) and a nice dunk (around 4:45 in the video.) Even with a bad night, he finished with 22 points and my 76ers are 9-0 so far.

Thinking about doing a dynasty with lots of video of Chen (and the rest of the team) but here is one more here. We are 12-0 and now Chen is against a less athletic SG and they don't have strong interior presence so he is dominating the first quarter with 14 points. There is one particular drive at 7:30 of the video in which he easily splits a (very weak) double team and drives for the dunk along with lots of other great plays throughout the video.

I also started playing this game a lot more recently. I started a GM mode game taking the Thunder from the beginning of the last free agency. After striking out on Lebron and resigning KD (who went to Indiana and Miami, respectively) I freed up salary by dumping Kanter and Singler (in a trade for a draft pick and took Buddy Hield) and tried to build a team around Russ, three point shooters, and interior defense. Russ only played 60 games and was hurt for the first two games of the playoffs.

The weirdest part was the Blazers beat the 76ers in the Finals (76ers were best in the East).

Got this fro my humble monthly bundle and this is a fun game. I suck so far (0-2 start with the Sixers losing leads in each; 100-97 loss to OKC and 108-106 loss on a last second shot to the Hawks) but have been enjoying it.

I like that the fouls actually seem to be called relatively even and the computer teams will get called for fouls on a normal pace. Also like some of the other things like some bad passes or 3 second calls, makes it seem more realistic.

Embiid is a beast; would have beaten the Hawks (most likely) if he hadn't fouled out to start the 4th.

I had every intention of skipping NBA 2k18 so I can focus on Wenli Chen's career in 2k17, but this blog has me salivating at some of the improvements for career mode (particularly the analytics tools and draft creation algorithms and contract improvements and the developmental league.):

Also the new CAPs don't look like neanderthals anymore so that's a huge change. All the rookies looked like cavemen before, and my league would get populated with them fast.

The only thing I haven't figured out yet is whether or not I can change which team is user controlled during the MyLeague expansion mode after the initial setup.

Loving my first few plays through just to get the feel for it.

"myleague automation" is what it is called, shuffle through with LT/RT (or equivalent) and then at the very top you can change if a team is user controlled. Expansion Teams are not sorted in alphabetically but come at the very end of the list !

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. Now I've just got to plan things so that expansion and franchise relocation makes sense with the divisions.

So excited about this! I might actually buy two versions this year if the Switch version is any good.

Is there a good source for additional expansion team jersey/arena sets?

The OS forums were good for this in the past - the Sonics jerseys I'm using in my franchise were sourced from there back around release time.

DIFFICULTY MATTERS – To get the most authentic NBA Adjustments from ACE, you need to be playing on Superstar or Hall of Fame. All skill levels below that will see limited double teams and changes in situational coverages.

wasn't difficulty strictly a sliders thing the last few version, hence the difficulty changing to "custom" once you make a change to a slider ?

On the OS site, the developers just confirmed you can set difficulty to Hall of Fame or Superstar and then adjust sliders to whatever you want (including more balanced sliders to make it like All-Star) and the HOF or Superstar AI will work.

So then to change difficulty, you will have to start over ? Seems a terrible design/display choice on their part then ... (to have it switch to custom on any change to any difficulty level)

You can save slider sets. Make a HOF slider set... a Superstar set... whatever

Read through that and watched the videos. If the CPU can read screens and come off them correctly like that consistently and the defensive improvements work well from the previous blog from O'Gallagher, 2K18 should be a lot of fun to play.

Looking forward to reading about the new myCareer and myGM (I think) features from the event today.

Connected myCareer, where your development is in the same world as others and actions in one impact the world?
