Hey Marm, can we get this finished up fairly quickly? I'm going out of town for a week starting Monday and I don't want to have to forfeit this contest to Grid Iron.

The Final Four!

In our first matchup, 87-88 Oklahoma Sooners play the 00-01 Duke Blue Devils.

Following that, the 94-95 UCLA Bruins take on the 88-89 Michigan Wolverines.

Our first game of the day was an absolute blowout. One of the largest margins of victory in this tournament. The 87-88 Oklahoma Sooners will move on to play for the What-If Championship after dismantling the 00-01 Dukies, 102-82.

Mookie Blaylock scored 21 for Oklahoma. Stacy King was right behind him with 20 points, and he pulled down 8 board as well. Harvey Grant also grabbed 8 boards and scored 18 points. Ricky Grace chipped in with 14 points and dished out 8 assists.

For Duke, Shane Battier led all scorers on his team with 16 points. Nate James added 15 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Jason Williams scored 15 and had 10 assists. Mike Dunleavey and Carlos Boozer each added 11 in the losing cause.

In our second matchup, the 94-95 UCLA Bruins take on the 88-89 Michigan Wolverines.

UCLA only got 3 points from their team outside of their top 6 scorers. The lack of any depth killed them in this game, and down the stretch, Michigan took control and won this game 96-87.

Glen Rice was a scoring machine, dropping in 26 points on 10 for 17 shooting. Rumeal Robinson added 18 for the Wolverines. Loy Vaught added 16 and had 9 rebounds on the day. Terry Mills and Sean Higgins each scored in double figures.

For the Bruins, Tyus Edney was on fire, scoring 21 and handing out 12 assists. Ed O’Bannon had 16 points and 9 rebounds. Charles O’Bannon, Toby Bailey and George Zidek each scored a dozen in the losing cause.

All 5 participants got 1 of the final 2 team correct, so the scores, with 1 round to go are as follows:

Jeeber 54
Grid 50
Radii 44
Colt 42
Splits 37

The last pick is worth 4 points, so Jeeber has clinched at least a tie!

Get your picks in ASAP, and when I have them all I will do this...probably tuesday or wednesday at the latest though.

Sweet, I can't do any worst than first. And don't worry, Grid Iron, you won't catch me for the tie...

To stay alive, I need to pick the winner, and Jeeber needs to pick the loser. How do I do that?

1) pick the favorite in the hope that Jeeber will select the underdog?

or

2) pick the underdog with the expectation that Jeeber will pick the favorite?

Decisions, decisions. . .

So, who do you consider to be the favorite? That would seem to be a tough decision in itself...

Considering I'm out of it because I forgot a round (oops), my pick needs not be a secret. I'm going with Michigan, a team I actually saw in person that year at the Southeast regional. That team had talent, but Rice was simply a one man show during those two days.

Marmel - This was an awesome thread, and especially great given that March Madness is now going on. Great job!

JeeberD - Congrats! You should have picked Michigan!

WooHoo!!

Great dynstasy, Marm. I had a great time following it. I hope that you decide to do something like this again soon...

Grid- That last round reminded me of that scene in "The Princess Bride" in which the bald dude was trying to figure out which glass of wine was poisoned. Lotsa fun...

Jeeb, I thought of that exact same scene when you guys were talking about it.

Any ideas for another similar dynasty?
