4 of the first 6 races were on speedways. 5 of the next 6 will be on tracks other than speedways. Lots of potential for the standings to shake up.

Good point - I hadn't really looked at how my guys did on those tracks in terms of their stats. I will have to do that at the end of the year when evaluating if they need updates (assuming we can even do stat updates at the end of the year )

Finally, I get a little bit of traction in a race! Not quite enough to get across the finish line first, though.

Dexter needs to pick it up. 34th in points. I think our only shot now is a couple of wins and getting a wildcard.

Race 7 of 20 - Aaron's 499 Results

What an exciting race. The lead was swapped 86 times among 24 drivers and the lead changed again on the final lap. Heading into the last lap, Deacon Palmer, found himself in 4th place, 3rd car in the bottom line. He stayed there until coming out of turn 4th and used the long front straightaway to his advantage as he dove below Eliott Foley and edged out Rip Lickinggood on the high side to win in a terrific 3 wide finish.

This is certainly Ninth Circle's strongest showing of the season. Rip Lickingood got a chance to show his superspeedway prowess, qualifying 4th and holding the lead until the bitter end. That narrowly missed win was a blow to Rip's chances to make the Chase as a wildcard. Helen Wheels, meanwhile, qualifies mid-table, leads the second-most laps, but fades back to about where she started, finishing 16th. She's still bringing up the rear of Chase points qualifiers.

Cannon is barely holding onto that 10th spot. He'll need some good finishes soon to not be worrying when it comes down to race #15.

An absolutely dominating day for Dexter Jackson, who before today was 34th in points. He lapped the entire field and led 396 of 500 laps.

Standings after Race #8

Trick Dickle retakes the points lead after his top 5 finish at Martinsville. Chris and Aemon Snow both drop out of the top 10 after poor runs at Martinsville. Deacon Palmer and David Gonzalez currently hold the wild card spots.

A bit of Dr Jekel/Mr Hyde from Dixieland Racing today. Both cars qualified very high, and there were big expectations. The General Lee ran strong, never lead, but 3rd place for Bo Duke is his second top 5 finish.

The Good Ol Boy Home Depot car just gave up. Luke lead for 10 laps of the race but fell way off to finish after qualifying 3rd. Ouch! That can't happen!

So now Bo sits in 14th, all of 6 points out of the race points. Luke falls way back 26th. He is nearly 100 points behind the 10 spot.

Wow...crazy run there by Dex at Martinsville, but it's nice to see the Dickle gang pull their heads out of the backsides and get back on top of the point standings where they belong...

Race #9 of 20 - Brickyard 400 Results

Alejandro Murrieta and his crew stole today's Brickyard 400 with terrific pit strategy and came away with the unlikely win. All but two drivers, Murrieta and Nick Harold had to pit with 17 laps to go but Murietta and Harold stayed on the track during those green flag stops and stretched their fuel to the absolute last second to finish 1st and 2nd while Nick Phillips, who dominated most of the day, had to settle for 3rd. Points leader Trick Dickle was 4th and Chris Snow will vault back into the Chase with a 5th place finish. One major wreck knocked out 7 cars on lap 9.

Standings after Race #9 of 20 - 6 races remain until the Chase

Trick Dickle holds a 100 point lead over 2nd place Mustafa Henderson, that lead however will be wiped out when the Chase starts. Nick Phillips its in 3rd and Chris Snow jumps back to 4th in the standings. David Ginsberg sits 5th followed by Aemon Snow, Ace Idol, Kevin Kong, Helen Wheels and Erik Flamebeard. Those ten would be in the Chase if the season ended up now along with wildcards of Deacon Palmer and Benton Gale.

Let's see: my car that qualified 19'th finished 2'nd and my 6'th qualifier finished 18'th. I'll take the flip-flop as Team Dumbo puts together a decent combination.

Crap. Gonzalez nose dived with the DNF and Murrieta with the win?

Wish that was Gonzalez with the genius pit strategy as Murrieta has no shot this season.

Ninth Circles recap:

(from the Talledega video)
I can't believe Rip went high on the last lap! He absolutely could have held others off on the low line, and he'd be in the pack of drivers outside the Top 10 with 1 win and a chance to qualify for the Chase as a wild-card.

(from Indy qualifying)
WOOOOO FRONT ROW

(from the race)
Good to see Helen and Rip get time near the front in the 6 and 07 cars, respectively. Equally frustrating to see Nick Phillips pull away from the pack time and again. 10th and 11th place finishes are respectable, and good enough to get Helen back into the Chase, but still somehow disappointing given the strength of Ninth Circle's cars in qualification.

(from the wreck video)
Isn't it a little insensitive to show the dash cams for the two drivers who were surely killed in that accident?! (RIP, Benton Gale and Bo Duke.)

YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright since I'm still stuck way back in the points it looks like I need another win to get myself into the chase. I probably won't be able to pass those other guys with 1 win. The 12 car is pretty solid on short tracks so hopefully we'll fare well at Myrtle Beach. We need win #2. And we should be decent at road courses so Watkins Glen is another possibility. If I can't get to victory lane in one of those two it's probably over cause we have struggled mightily at speedways.

Back in the top 10, overall. It's pretty bunched up for those final 5 spots though, so hopefully no DNF's the rest of the way.

Surprise Surprise, look who wins again. Trick Dickle picks up win #4 and is dominating the series this season. This wasn't as dominating a win for Trick as he rode in the top ten most of the race but didn't take the lead until the final 50 laps but that's all that matters. Nick Harold had the dominate car early and led 118 laps before fading to 17th. Mustafa Henderson led 75 laps but struggled late and finished 25th. Bo Duke was strong as well as he led 88 laps but ended up in 10th.

Trick Dickle's lead is now up to 187 points over Mustafa Henderson. Trick is the only driver hating the switch to the Chase format this season. Deacon Palmer and David Gonzalez currently hold the wildcard spots.

Man! Our cars were right there at the top of the heap in qualifying, we ran strong for most of the race, and managed to finish 9th and 10th?! When are we going to live up to our potential!? This team needs a few more top 10 finishes to make the chase, but now both drivers sit in striking distance at 13th and 14th place. It's going to be a tight finish, and Dixieland needs some really big finishes.
