I'll admit that I think I've had my fill of this show - I think we've only watched the All-Stars season of the last 3 or 4 iterations of this show, including Masters and Just Desserts.
Anyway, speaking of the Just Desserts spin-off...um,wow. One of the guys from the 1st season was indicted on child porn charges. Top Chef's Morgan arrested, indicted for child pornography + reality blurred

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me.
The last "real" season of TC irked me, as did the "All Stars." Just Desserts I only watch for drama. Hopefully Texas (starting in a week or two...) will be much better. On other cooking show news, Lee Ann Wong from TC season 1 is on Iron Chef America this week. That could be interesting. And Spike is on the upcoming "Next Iron Chef" iteration which is something to do with celebrity chefs or something, Personally, I hope Anne Burrell wins and Spike goes down in flames. /tk

Yeah I thought Top Chef Allstars would be better than it was. All it takes are for the annoying people to last long on the show to completely kill the whole series. Top Chef Masters is just boring. No tension. No stakes at all really. I tried Top Chef desserts once. Just kinda blah. Judges and Hosts contribute a LOT. And the judges/hosts on all the other shows are just horrible. Especially the two cadavers they have on Masters. Watch the real Top Chef when it comes on. Much better than this other crap. Hopefully Bourdain or Toby will guest judge a bunch of episodes to trashtalk them all. That's always fun. |

Caught the first episode of Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs last night. I like the format. And I quite enjoyed the first elimination.
I'd like to see Anne Burrell do well on the show and wouldn't be disappointed if she won. But Geoffrey Zakarian describes himself in a way I can totally understand (he sounds a lot like me), so I'm kinda cheering for him, too. /tk

Well, Next Iron Chef (which has had two seasons) is traditionally a competition to become an Iron Chef (as in, one of the people that can be challenged on the Iron Chef America show). This is how Michael Symon and Marc Forgione were added to the roster of Iron Chefs.
This time, they have "Super Chefs" where they're already well-known Food Network and restaurant chefs. So the format is a bit different than previous iterations of Next Iron Chef. In this one, there is a challenge where the competitors get judged, and the two on the bottom have to do a 30-minute Iron Chef-style challenge. The loser goes home. Last one standing is the Next Iron Chef. The Next Iron Chef : Food Network /tk
