I expect the franchise mode to get a patch soon.. at least to correct the stuff like rookie classes.

How are the simulated stats in franchise? I know there are issues with generated rookies and players getting unrealistic boosts from hot streaks but I haven't seen much feedback about the simulated stats.

My impression from reading the OS review is that a core function of the mode (complete in game challenges to give your players massive skill gains) is fundamentally mode breaking and ridiculous and very unlikely to get a patch. I'd love to hear differently from those who have the game though |

I can give my impression with Franchise so far. The in-game challenges are so minor that its pretty clear the arguments are from those without the game (from my perspective). I've actually been surprised by how hard it is to actually upgrade players. The drive challenges for the most part are VERY easily ignored. And even if you do try to achieve them, you gain maybe an extra 50 xp and 1 confidence. That is NOT making a difference in progression. It takes a lot more xp this year to add one rating point to a player than I remember. I think I'm 5 games into my season and haven't seen any major jumps in progression. Heck, I've barely even gained enough xp to upgrade a couple of important ratings +1. Winning the first four games of the season did give me a boost to the Overall rating, ranging from +1 to +3. After losing my last game, looks like their Overall's have settled back a bit to "normal" but I'll have to double check when I get home. Now I can't comment on the rookie issue as I haven't made it through to the next season yet. Its still early for sure, but I'm happy with Franchise mode so far. |

So they've toned down the sacks from what I've heard. Have they fixed the ungodly abilities of backup CPU QB's who are brought into the game after the starter is hurt? Get tired of seeing guys like Sean Renfree come in and complete 10 of 11 passes for 200 yards.

Hmmm.. I thought I read they will patch this. Players going from 90 to 120 in game would kill the franchise mode and I doubt they wouldn't want to get this fixed. Time will tell... |

You definitely did read that it will be patched, there's confirmation from the devs on OS. Only question is if it's patch 1 or patch 2. |

I don't get the fuss with the in-game achievements either. I don't try for the achievements, but if I happen to get them, great. IMO this plays a good game of football.
With Jarryd Hayne now in one of the Madden modes, I wonder if that marks the first time an athlete has appeared in two videogames for different sports?

Picked up Madden 16 this morning. Have only gotten to play a couple of games, like most of it, but that aggressive catch is ridiculously overpowered.

In my experience I don't think the aggressive catch is too overpowered, because I'm setting the defense knock a lot of balls out, too.
Highest rated sports game on Metacritic since 2013 at the moment. It's still not the 'NBA 2K' of football in terms of quality, but it's held my interest longer than any other Madden release in years.

The more I play it, the more I'm not sure I like it.
CPU receivers run free pretty much everywhere. I usually don't have a guy within five yards. No matter what play I call. I can't get pressure, even rushing six I get nowhere near the QB. But what really pisses me off is the damn receivers skying for the ball. Playing the Browns, I was the Bengals, twice on the first drive Brian Hartline jumps over Leon Hall with one handed grabs like the one on the cover. I'm already sick of seeing them and I've only played four or five games. QB's like Josh McNown and Ryan Fitzpatrick are fucking superstars. I'd hate to see how Manning and Brady are handled by the CPU.

My son is getting pressure, he has never played football games before and he is somehow breaking through the lines and causing broken plays. That's more than I have ever been able to do in this game.

I don't know if it's style of play or what, but Bill's experience hasn't been mine - default sliders (penalties at 55), all-pro, 15 min Qs with 10 second accelerated clock. Through 9 games I'm getting on average about 2-3 sacks a game. I give up a lot of yards in the air because my CBs suck, but I generally hold QBs to about 60-65% completion, and I run a lot of blitzes so a good deal of the completions are shortish throws before we get to the QB.
I played last night and my opponent had New England's current backup QB as their starter. We held him to just over 50% completions, with most of those coming in the 4th Q. He was 4/14 in the first half, and we sacked him 5 times, a couple of which were attempted runs. Game before that was vs. Aaron Rodgers, and he finished with 2 TDs, 1 pick, and about 65% completion rate. A lot of yards, but it was what I expected.

Having a lot of luck with SS blitzes on long passing downs, and my SS isn't anything special. Just seems like he is generally quick enough to get through to the backfield when the AI has only his OLine looking to block.

Apparently a new set of tuners is out that will nerf WRs' incredible catches. Also, first patch should be out in the next week or two.

Yep.. the tuner did nerf the WR catches from my two game experience.
The patch is complete and was sent to Sony and MS for approval.. Just doing "play now" games with 15 minute quarters/13 second play clock and penalties all on 55 and I'll say this ONE MORE TIME.. this is THE greatest Madden game I've ever played. Replayed the Chiefs vs Rams game and it was so much fun. Penalties total were like 12. I lost 24-10 and Maclin had two long touchdowns. I love using the coach suggested plays too. I have yet to see anything that makes me scratch my head. Foles threw a pass off his back foot that sailed and was intercepted. This is THE year for Madden! |

Definitely has a better feel post tuner update. Though I have a feeling there is some catch up logic in the game. Had an 11 point lead over the Jets, they score a TD with a 2-point conversion (neither play did I have a player within ten yards) at the two minute mark, kicked me the ball which my returner promptly fumbled, then they kick a FG to go to OT. Where I eventually won.
The penalties were one sided, I hadn't changed the sliders, Jets had 7 for 55 yards, I had one for 10. The thing I like the most? Is I think the days of throwing five INT's and winning 45-20 are over. Though I do think they need to tone down the lesser QB's.

I'm really liking madden. Every game feels different. QB's don't feel the same. Hopefully the patch when released doesn't break the game.

Played a second game against Buffalo as Miami... won 33-3.
Matt Cassel opened the game going 2-2, for 77 yards on the opening drive where the Bills got their only score. He completed 5 out of 16 passes the rest of the way.

Raiders just beat me (I was Denver), on a Hail Mary pass 21-17. I never got a running game going and threw 4 INT's with Manning.
Though I did sack Derek Carr 5 times.

Something about the Jets this game likes. Fitzpatrick is a superstar. Got beat again, this time using the Patriots, 27-24. Last second drive again by the Jets.
It'll be interesting to see how this game plays in Franchise.

I've given up playing the Jets.
As the Giants, turned the ball over six times, including three times on "fumbles" where the ball and DB arrived at the same time at the receiver.

been playing coach mode with these sliders and having some great realistic games so far. I am 1-3 with all 4 games that could have gone either way. Best coach mode Madden in some time.

Patch #1 is out.. too bad they are revamping the 53 man rosters which are not due out until Friday. Failure to get the updated roster will result in draft pick players speed much higher than the current roster.
At least NHL 16 comes out tomorrow via EA Access. |

Madden on sale on Amazon Gold Box special for $39.99 today only. I took the plunge and picked it up for PS4 . If it just kills the time till Fallout 4 is out that is all I am hoping. My expectations are low so if it exceeds that great.

Once they toned down the aggressive catch option, it doesn't play bad at all. I've been tinkering around in franchise and am liking what I see there.

Besides the speed issue, LT are giving up tons of sacks due to the sim engine. They are regressing severely as a result.
I want to buy Madden and love it but I don't see the point with franchise being so broken.

If they would just ditch the damn sim engine, and just sim games using the 3d engine (without rendering), it would makes things a lot easier for them.
