Nice work by PSU today. Michigan did not look good at all. A lot of because of PSU not making mistakes and playing within themselves, but the Michigan QB's are obviously struggling mightily in a QB heavy offense.

Can you advance a blocked kick if it crosses the LOS? That ball was just sitting there as everyone thought you ball went backwards, until finally an Alabama kid picked it up.

Imagine if they'd called the celebration penalty.

1 minute left, Clemson down 34-31 to Miami but driving toward FG range.

Are the announcers in the Clemson - Miami game seriously questioning the strategy of going on defense first in OT? What next, why it was a good idea for Marty Mornhinweg to take the wind?

That came from the lead announcer inexplicably saying Clemson took the ball when they won the toss & then trying to backtrack to cover his stupidity/brainfart.

For the second straight play, the PBP guy in the LSU-Auburn game incorrectly calls a dropped ball a completion.

I went to the UConn-WVU game today. It was the strangest sports atmosphere I have ever seen. The moment of silence was really eerie -- I kept expecting a drunk student to yell or do something embarassing, but they surprisingly did not.

Anyway, glad we got away from that with the W. Devine is a rockstar.

So if a team blocks two FGs to help win a game against an inferior opponent, does it make that team unworthy of their lofty ranking?

Just asking

For those who get Versus, check out the TCU-BYU game. TCU has a great defense that is fun to watch.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Florida slip back into #1 (assuming they handle their business tonight).

But most teams that eventually win titles have a game like that -- at least nailbitingly closer than it should have been against a lesser opponent -- on their final resume. That's one of the differences between the highest echelon & the next tier, they win those games that other teams lose.

Subtle, I like it
from espn.com's Heather Dinich ACC blog

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson is a funny guy. He's also a smart coach. After all, he reads the blog.

Ok, so I picked against Georgia Tech, two weeks in a row. And twice now they've proven me wrong. But hey, who's counting?

PJ is.

Asked after their 34-9 win over Virginia if he thinks people still doubt his team, Johnson responded without hesitation: "Oh I think so, right, Heather?"

Not anymore, Paul.

Dude needs to chill out about Iowa. As a PSU fan, even I can say that Iowa beat noone of real substance to be where they're at right now.

Cincinnati is probably better.

Comparing Northern Iowa to Tennessee, huh? I don't want to see Alabama in the title game, either, but Iowa is now on the list of teams I'm rooting for to lose because of annoying homerism.

Everyone IS against Iowa. And at no time did I compare UNI to Tennessee. But everyone points to that.game and says Iowa is overrated. Yet all they have done is win. We won't know if they would beat cinci unless they get them in a bowl game.
Homerism? You bet. My team is 7-0. Is yours?

No one is against them. It's more an issue of them not really looking good against really bad teams. They are ranked in the top 10. You could argue they should be ahead of some teams and behind others. But I think they are treated rather fairly.

Be sure to spend halftime catching up on every big offensive play that your team has put up against the vaunted Michigan State defense. With 90 yards on 32 plays, you should still have enough time to take a nice, relaxing shit.

Poor choice of words, no one is against Iowa.
And Iowa is flawed, no doubt about it. Their oline needs to improve and Stanzi has his moments. But that defense is nails.
But we are 7-0.

Mizzous QB runs a 4.6 40 when his ankle isn't bad. It's really affected his game and mizzous offense.

Ronald Johnson with a beautiful diving TD catch. Barkley's 2nd TD of the day. Having Johnson back healthy is going to add a lot the 2nd half of the season.

So what happened in the MSU/Iowa game? MSU looked in good position to at least kick a FG. I'm at work, so of course I come back to the game & it's Iowa's ball. Missed FG or turnover?
