Just a clarification: You can cast as many spells as you want during prep time - but you can't cast the same one 2x (unless you've selected it twice when leveling - make sense?).

However, each spell cast during prep time (or any time in between rooms) eats up time on the clock. Spells cast during combat eat one of your combat turns (and combat turns equal clock time as well).

I sent in orders to attack immediately without prep. Hopefully i can get some healing, but i'll burn a turn during combat if necessary if my instructions don't work.

ntn puts on the ring. It is a ring of Strength - improves melee damage.

CF drinks a healing potion.

CF and ntn launch into battle with the elf.

Abe blasts at the halfling.

CF hits.

Ntn hits 2x.

The elf casts a SLOW spell on CF!

The halfling hits abe!

--------------

Abe hits.

ntn hits 1x.

The elf hits CF with a bolt of FROST!

-------------

CF breaks free of the slow spell.

The elf and halfling both hit!

And Abe is hurting!

But the elf casts a heal spell on himself.

The halfling hits CF.

A rapier strike knocks the halfling down. A referee comes in an drags him away

ABe, pick a spell:

Level 4 (pick 1 additional):
You may choose one additional spell from the following list:
Heal, Magic Missile, Detect Magic, Light, Read Magic, Mage Armor, Fear, Sleep, Web, Identify, Cure Poison

You may choose a spell you already possess which will allow you to cast it 2x per room/combat instead of once.

I know we do, and I want to as well, but 1/2 price healing pots? With two of our numbers one death away from real death? Hard to pass up.

You can see into the corridor a bit. It is littered with bones.

Room 10:

You take the more dangerous looking short cut.

The light dims as you travel through the corridor. A light spell sure would come in handy now. No matter. You press onward as you can still see just a bit.

Bones crunch underfoot and it begins to get cold. Unearthly cold.

"I've got a bad feeling about this" one of you mutters.

A few shapes move quickly from up ahead and an unnatural, guttural moan can be heard just before you are attacked by 2 ghouls.

The ghouls attack first, and you get a negative modifier to hit them in the dim light.

The ghouls both miss.

Abe casts a web spell. The first ghoul is trapped in the web!

Ntn hits!

----------------

Ghoul 1 is still trapped in the web.

Ghoul 2 hits CF, stunning him.

Abe casts magic missile - it hits ghoul 1.

The rest of you miss.

Ghoul one claws his way out of the web and will be able to attack next round.

Ghoul 2 misses.

Abe casts mage armor on CF.

CF and ntn miss.

Abe you want to put on the necklace? Might help you magically. IF you don't want to I will. I think any magic boost and spell types will go to you and any dex/damage/ranged things should go to me and any strength, lock, melee things to ntn. protection spells could go to anybody as we''re all fighting.

BTW, doesn't mage armor take the place of other armor? IF you have better armor then mage armor doesn't do anything I think. Then again maybe we don't have any armor. Never mind.
