Feels to me like we're starting to run out of "no brainer" picks.

Interesting choice. Why 1910 over 1920? Not judging, just curious.

Guessing the 81 Stolen Bases? I personally had Eddie on my list in 1914.

That plus it's regarded as his best defensive year by far.

This has been one of the more fascinating things about the draft for me - watching what year people are picking for each player and comparing it to which year I would have picked for them.

At the risk of tipping my hand, I'll actually change that pick if no one minds.

Been studying the draft so far. This has been fantastic and is making me think about buying the game.

One thing Im curious about is why you picked your team names. I get a couple of the references, but not all. While we are in between picks I would like to hear why you guys named your teams the way you did.

The Big Inning Corn Kings are the best team from the book The Iowa Baseball Confederacy by WP Kinsella. This is my favorite book of his. Mostly because of the references to the area I grew up. The book takes place a few miles south and makes tons of references to places and things I grew up.

Great book.

My team name is something that I typically use when I get to pick a team name in OOTP. I live in Indy and the Indianapolis Clowns were a Negro League team. I like the name and I like to pay homage to them.

Question. Does my Walter Johnson pick count as a Washington pick or a Twins pick? The Washington Senators team that he was on eventually moved to Minnesota.

I used to play in a face to face league with the old Superstars Baseball game (which was the SI version of the Avalon Hill game). The teams already in the league used secondary southern markets for their towns (Asheville, Charleston, Augusta, etc.), so I chose Tallahassee, which was my college town. The name Federals came from the Federal League...I thought it sounded like a classic baseball team name.

Love the Superstars Baseball game. Still have it in my game room. A head to head league sounds fantastic. So much fun, I imagine.

There is a Vassal module for Superstar Baseball. An idea could be forming. Sunday night baseball league? Head to head play. Maybe a 30 game league.
Similar format to this?

Hmmmm. Would I have the time?

It was awesome...I was the 6th team when I joined. We played 24 game seasons...2 game sets with each team getting 1 game as the home team. We played every time we got together (while having a few beers). We ended up playing 5 or so seasons (after I joined) and the league grew to 12 before life broke apart the group. I even created 10 negro league players that we added in the game to provide some depth after the expansion.

Alexander, since he was able to make his pick instead of his list before another player did.

Even though my team isn't on here anymore my answer is pretty straight forward. We had a minor league team in the area that were the AC Surf. Shame the casinos basically treated them like competition instead of embracing them to help bring people in. The stadium was nice, a view of the city skyline. It was a nice way to spend an evening. Unfortunately they left several years ago.

I lived in a neighborhood of San Jose dubbed "Willow Glen" for several years, and it's one of my favorite places to visit still. Picked the Wreckers nickname for an auto wrecker yard near the outside edge of the neighborhood.
