Roster Review
Code:
Vallejo and Shults are non-scholarship players. Scott is a top recruit for us though. Code:
I love our two new inside men, Scot and Reimer. Dawson and Dreher and Marshall are our other big sscoring threats. Code:
Reimer and Scott are acceptable defenders too, they look to be our next Godin/Curry combo, 4 year starters together in the post. Dreher and Marshall's perimeter D bothers me though. I start: C Scott PF Reimer SF Dawson SG Marshall PG Dreher Allred, Tilghman, Featherston and Foss will all see signifigant action. |

November 2014
November 18th, 2014 Lehigh(0-0) at Campbell(0-0) i have no idea what to expect from this team. We start out with a bad loss, Dawson and Marshall shoot way too damn much. Code:
November 22nd, 2014 Campbell(0-1) at Furman(0-0) Much better today, as we get the 70-65 win. We're much more balanced, and I'm not liking this 3-17 3 point shooting... Code:
November 25th, 2014 Campbell(1-1) at New Hampshire(0-1) Another road win, this is a very close one, 76-75. Jay Scott gives us a great performance in his 3rd ever start. Code:
November 28th, 2014 Campbell(2-1) at Savannah State(2-2) We're 3-0 on the road this year so far... lets hope it continues on once we make it into conference play. Code:
That ends a solid november for the Fighting Camels. Code:

I appreciate the top 100 RPI, but I doubt it will hold up. |

Let's go Camels!
Just wondering, if you get a job offer from a better school, or a a school of interest will you consider leaving Campbell? Also I think some Final Four predictions would be a nice addition before you post the results. |

December 2014
I notice that Mercer is in the Big South... we've seen our second conference change. Radford won the Big South 4 years in a row and earned a promotion up to the 2 prestige Atlantic Sun as a result. SF Boyce tilghman is suspended for academic reasons, we can live without him. We lose one of our recruits, but we land one as well. Center Rudolph Lingerfelt doesn't have a jumper, but he looks like a force inside, and a pretty solid rebounder too. Code:
December 3rd, 2014 Troy State(2-3) at Campbell(3-1) Troy State has 2 wins against top 100 teams and actually has an RPI of 40 right now... they beat us in a close game at our place, 74-70. Code:
December 6th, 2014 Campbell(3-2) at Troy State(3-3) We return the favor, with a 3 point road win to go to 1-1 in conference play. We shoot 35% on the game, but Troy State turns it over 14 more times than the Camels to help us out. Code:
December 10th, 2014 Jacksonville(2-2) at Campbell(4-2) Today we get our first home win of the season, another tight contest, 86-83. We shoot 55% today, but we go a little foul crazy, allowing Jacksonville to make 32 free throws to keep it close. Code:
December 17th, 2014 Campbell(5-2) at Georgia State(3-4) Today we lose our first road game, Georgia State crushes us by 19. Code:
December 20th, 2014 Nichols State(1-5) at Campbell(5-3) An easy non conference win today gives us a little break. Check out Otto Marshall's numbers today. 11-13 from the field and 5-6 from the line. Code:
December 24th, 2014 Campbell(6-3) at William and Mary(7-3) This is going to be a tough one. W&M leads the conference early on. We dont want to fall under .500 and have to fight to stay near the middle of the conference like we did last year. We get the big road win to go to 3-2 in conference play. Code:
December 30th, 2014 Campbell(7-3) at Winthrop(3-5) A very very close game today. It's tied at 70 with 7 seconds left. James Dawson takes a shot, its no good but PG Dreher is there for the tip in at the buzzer!! 72-70 Camels. Code:
A pretty solid month, we are 3-2 in conference play and hopefully will just get better. We're bunched up at the top right now. Code:
Code:
5th in the nation in steals! Code:
Code:
Marshall and Dawson are taking turns with the big games this year so far Dreher's 5.7 assists per game would easily be our best ever. |

Quote:
I can do that on the final four ![]() For now, my goal is to try to take advantage of the "limited promotion" feature and move Campbell up through the ranks. If I can get Campbell to the top of the Atlantic Sun for years and we don't get moved up, I may consider a job change. Now, if North Carolina offers me a job, I will probably consider it. But, anyone else, and I'll have to be very frustrated with Campbell to leave. |

January 2015
Bad news all around this month. Center Jay Scott is suspended for a month for academic reasons. We have absolutely no depth at center so this is a major problem. We have another scholarship offer rejected and are struggling to find another quality recruit to bring in here. We have the lead on a PG that I expect to land with us next month, and a great shooting PG from Germany that might give me an overload at the guard spots... January 3rd, 2015 Cal State Fullerton(5-6) at Campbell(8-3) We get a good win here, 72-59. Code:
January 7th, 2015 Florida Atlantic(6-5) at Campbell(9-3) I love our overall record but I am worried about just being 3-2 in conference play, I will be happier if we can break away in conference play. We struggle without our center and fall 58-53 at home, a very very bad omen. Code:
January 10th, 2015 Central Florida(8-5) at Campbell(9-4) UGH, another loss, 89-86, a close close game. Central Florida has a top 100 RPI... this conference has improved a ton. Code:
January 12th, 2015 Stetson(7-6) at Campbell(9-5) A big win today to end that skid, 59-56. Code:
January 14th, 2015 Campbell(10-5) at Jacksonville(8-5) We fall hard today, 85-70. Code:
We're down at 4-5 in conference play, but no one is running away with it here, 5-3 is the tops in the league. January 17th, 2015 Jacksonville State(7-9) at Campbell(10-6) We come through at home today, 73-63. Dawson is big today, as is Marshall. Code:
January 21st, 2015 William and Mary(9-8) at Campbell(11-6) W&M is near the bottom of the league, we are 5-5 and in the middle of the pack(6th right now out of the 12 teams in the league). We hold at home, with a big 67-52 win. Code:
January 26th, 2015 Campbell(12-6) at IUPUI(10-7) A nice break from the conference grind today. We get a 4 point win against a winning team on the road, and we are looking at putting up a very solid record going into the conference tournament. Dreher is huge for us today, 24 points/5 assists. Code:
January 31st, 2015 IPFW(6-12) at Campbell(13-6) We win by 13 today against this bad team. Reimer gives us a double double today. Code:
Thus ends a very solid month, espicially considering our weakness inside. Code:
We really need to pick up some wins in conference play, I am just not happy with .500, I want us to pull away and challenge Ga State. Code:
Check out our RPI! could we be going to the NIT this year if we don't win our confrence tournament? Insane. Code:
Code:
We don't have a force on the boards this year but we appear to be holding up ok regardless. |

February 2015
Jay Scott is back and will be starting at center again, obviously. We get a solid recruit committment. Egon Ziegler has a great jumpshot, good hands and pretty good perimeter defense. Code:
We have another offer out on a point guard and we might just have a Center/3 PG class this year. February 4th, 2015 Campbell(14-6) at Belmont(8-12) We look for a road win against the worst team in the conference to push us to 2 over .500. We just cannot win though, 59-47 Belmont. Crap. Code:
February 7th, 2015 Campbell(14-7) at Jacksonville State(10-12) We drop another tough road game. Code:
February 9th, 2015 Radford(12-8) at Campbell(14-8) Radford leads the conference at 7-4 right now, we desprately can't afford to fall to 6-8. Radford leads 81-73 with 5 minutes left. A 3 pointer from center Jay Scott makes it 84-83 Radford with 2:13 left. With 1:07 left Dreher hits a jumper to make it 85-84 Camels. Radford scores with 13 seconds left to go back up 1, but with 2 seconds left on the clock Pat Allred hits a jumper from the FT line to give the Camels a 1 point win! Code:
February 11th, 2015 Campbell(15-8) at Radford(12-9) Can we sweep them?? I doubt it, but here goes nothin. We're on the bad end of a blowout here today. Code:
February 14th, 2015 Campbell(15-9) at Florida Atlantic(14-8) Florida Atlantic has jumped over Radford and Ga State to take the conference lead... we are 7-8 and in 7th place, we are seriously having trouble here and mightnot make the conference tourney. A 1 point road loss today doesn't help. Code:
February 20th, 2015 #15 North Carolina(16-9) at Campbell(15-10) Much like our game against Wake Forest last year, we hang with these guys but end up losing, 95-91. Code:
February 25th, 2015 Campbell(15-11) at Stetson(13-11) Another loss. Dammit. Code:
February 28th, 2015 Georgia State(11-15) at Campbell(15-12) We desparately need this win, we may not even play in our conference tournament if we lose. We fall by 3. Code:
We absolutely fell apart in the month of February, that was disgusting. Code:
With a 9th place finish we will not even get to play in our conference tournament. We have a good future ahead of us though with Scott and Reimer. Code:
128th in the RPI in a total disappointment season... the Atlantic Sun isn't waht it used to be. Code:
disgusting. Code:
We get our last recruit, Freddie Henry, another PG. Henry is an ok shooter, a good defender and has good hands. Code:

Final Four
6 seed south caroilna(26-7) plays 1 seed and #1 nationally Duke(28-6) South Carolina got here by beating Seton Hall, (3) BYU, (10) San Jose State, and (4) North Carolina. Yes, we were that close to a Duke/UNC final four. This is South Carolina's first final four ever. Duke beats Navy, (8) Pepperdine, (4) Boston College, and (6) Kansas in their final four run. Our other game pits 11 seed michigan State as the big underdog against 1 seed Maryland. Maryland beat Alcorn State, (9) St Johns, (4) Syracuse, and (2) UConn to reach the final four. Michigan State beat Tulsa, then (3) Xavier, then (2) Arizona and finally 9 seed Georgia to make the final four. The favorites both win easily, and we have an all-acc final! The home team won each time these two met earlier in the year. Duke has a very balanced attack, with 5 players averaging in double figures, they are led by PG Jeff Escobar with 13.7 ppg. Maryland on the other hand has a star in SG Severino Soler, averaging 18.4 ppg. In the final Solar scores 20 and Maryland PG Chris Staley score 14 to lead maryland, but Duke was better today, Duke is led by PF Barney Irvin with 16 points and 10 rebounds. duke wins 69-62 to win the national title! 2015-2016 Season
Code:
The prestige drops a little bit, but we're still doing ok. Code:
We have the same goal, we need to compete for the conference title this year. We have our first ever top 100 recruiting class, at #96 in the nation! We make an upgrade to our coaching staff, hiring assistant Hugh Evers for $65,000/yr. He has a 29 offense and 70 defense rating, a major upgrade from the 23/60 we had before. We have 3 scholarships available this year. This is a chance for us to signifigantly upgrade our roster, none of the 3 guys we are losing have ever been starters. A quality SF is still a top priority. We could also use another PF. Outside of that we'll just go after the best player available. There are actually a couple of top 100 players who have an average interest in us! After training camps, we get some news I would never expect in a million years... PG Otto Marshall will turn pro early. What a punk! We lose out on a couple of the guys we first attacked in the recruiting race. |

November 15th, 2015 Campbell(0-0) at VMI(0-0) We win a close game on the road to open up the year, 54-52. Steffens and Ziegler are the stars, putting up 16 and 13 points. Code:
November 19th, 2015 UC Riverside(1-0) at Campbell(1-0) We get a 6 point home win today to go 2-0. Ziegler is our star going 7-9 and scoring 19 today. We're setup to go inside, but Lingerfelt and Reimer aren't doing so great. Code:
November 23rd, 2015 Appalachain State(0-1) at Campbell(2-0) We have no go-to guy this game. I don't have a preference between my 5 starters or even the first few guys off the bench. It works out fine as we win 71-64. Code:
November 27th, 2015 Alabama A&M(0-0) at Campbell(3-0) Whoops, did we blow this one, 72-68. Code:
We should have gone 4-0, but hey, 3-1 is ok, right? Code:

We lose another recruit, but we get our first one as well. Shawn Boling is a PF from North Carolina. He's the 48th best PF in the nation. He's got great potential as a scorer and looks to be a very good defender. Code:
December 2nd, 2015 Jacksonville State(2-2) at Campbell(3-1) We get a solid 12 point win today. We start Jay Scott at PF today and he comes through with 15 points. Code:
December 5th, 2015 Jacksonville (1-0) at Campbell(4-1) Another win today, this was a close one, 79-77. I make Scott the go-to guy today, and he scores 6 points for me. I just have no idea what to do to get the most out of this team. Code:
November 9th, 2015 Campbell(5-1) at Stetson(4-2) We're off to a good start but we need a win against a good Stetson team today to keep rolling. Stetson has beaten a top 50 team in Oklahoma! Yeah, no chance today, 92-67. Code:
December 13th, 2015 American(2-5) at Campbell(5-2) We get a nice, easy home game coming off our first conference loss, and win by 11. We shoot horribly today, but we limit the turnovers and get 11 more FTs to win. Code:
December 17th, 2015 Navy(3-5 at Campbell(6-2) We lose a 1 point heartbreaker today, 69-68. Marshall tried to keep us close, but we just turned it over too damn much. Code:
December 23rd, 2015 Campbell(6-3) at Troy State(4-5) A tough loss today, Troy State was 0-4 in conference play, we've got to fix this fast... Code:
December 26th, 2015 Campbell(6-4) at Belmont(3-5) A big road win keeps us above .500 in conference. It's close, we score 4 points in the last minute to win 61-59. Code:
December 28th, 2015 Campbell(7-4) at Lehigh(6-3) We blow out Lehigh today thanks to 26 points from Ulysses Steffens. Code:
That ends our December, we're still in good shape here, although there are some very good teams in this conference. Code:

No Change on the recruiting front. We offer out two more scholarships to players we find wholly average at best. January 1st, 2016 IUPUI at Campbell We get a nice 11 point win today. Code:
January 6th, 2016 Campbell(9-4) at Florida Atlantic(12-1) This is a tough challenge, if we lose we're back to 3-3 in conference play. Florida Atlantic has wins against UNC Greensboro and AT Miami, both great wins for a program at this level. Their loss was a flop against Bethune-Cookman at home, we hope to catch them down tonight. We play hard but we fall, 61-53. Code:
January 9th, 2016 Georgia State(4-8) at Campbell(9-5) Do we begin another collapse now? We lose 75-66. Code:
January 11th, 2016 Campbell(9-6) at William and Mary(7-6) Another loss today. I just don't know what to do with this team. Code:
January 13th, 2016 Stetson(13-3) at Campbell(9-7) I make a drastic change, to an outside shooting game, with go-to guys in all my jump shooters. It doesn't help at all. Code:
Seroiusly I have no idea where this team is going, besides down the toilet. January 20th, 2016 William and Mary(9-7) at campbell(9-8) Finally a win! A big one, 70-55, to end that horrid skid. It may be too late by now though. Code:
January 23rd, 2016 Florida Atlantic(15-3) at Campbell(10-8) I make another change and turn up the heat on offense, we're going to turn up the pace a little bit. We can't beat the best team in the conference though. Code:
January 30th, 2016 Central Florida(6-14) at Campbell(10-9) It's close, but we do win again, 77-74. Code:

We land a SF, but he's not great by any stretch. Code:
February 3rd, 2016 Campbell(11-9) at Georgia State(10-9) We get a huge road win today, Ziegler comes up big with 21 points. Code:
February 10th, 2016 Troy State(12-9) at Campbell(12-9) We choke here at home, and this season is going to shit like all the others. Really this is getting frustrating. I've improved the talent level at this school by leaps and bounds, but cannot get above .500 in conference play no matter what I do. Code:
February 13th, 2016 Campbell(12-10) at Jacksonville(7-14) Here's a road win to even things back out. Ziegler and Marshall both put up 20+ Code:
January 17th, 2016 Campbell(13-10) at Jacksonville State(12-12) This just in! We suck! Code:
February 20th, 2016 Radford(11-14) at Campbell(13-11) I switch to a slow paced inside offense, and give up 80+! Code:
February 24th, 2016 Campbell(13-12) at Radford(12-14) 82-66! We lose! Gah. Code:
February 29th, 2016 Winthrop(16-11) at Campbell(13-13) Another loss. March 2nd 2016 Savannah State(10-17) at Campbell(13-14) We win by 2. Whee. We'll come back later and see if we can't find an offense that we can win with. This has been horribly frustrating, this team has talent but we haven't been able to do crap with it. |

Center Rudolph Lingerfelt is suspended for the month of March for academic problems... we'll miss him for our tournament game.
I put our best handling guys in the game, and I'm goign to try a fast paced high motion offense, trapping and pressing on defense, and I'll run a 9 man rotation. We play a Stetson team that has an outside shot at making the NCAA Tournament as an at-large with a 48 RPI and a 22-6 record, so it's probably too late to find our stride. We keep it close early, it's 14-12 Campbell at the 10 minute mark of the 1st half, we are on fire, shooting 65% early on. Both teams are committing a lot of fouls. It's pretty hectic, and we are playing great, leading 37-34 at the half. We're shooting 52% to Stetson's 29%, the big problem is the 22-14 rebounding edge for Stetson, if we can keep that under control we can win this game. Zieglar has 11 points at the half. We go on an 10-0 run with about 12 minutes left in the game to take 53-43 lead, and now we just need to play even ball. Stetson starts coming back, cutting it to 5 with 6 minutes left, 64-59 Camels. With 4 minutes to go it's 69-65. 70-65 with 2:15 to go, and we're going to have to make some free throws... Tilghman misses the front end of a 1-and-1, then Ziegler only goes 1-2, with 1:19 left it's 71-67 Camels. Tilghman makes his next two FTs, 73-67, and Otto Marshall makes it an 8 point game with under a minute to go, and that's how it ends! We finally find a strategy that works(or, we just played the game of our lives) and we beat the top team in the conference! Ziegler puts up 24 points, Marshall 15. Code:
Atlantic Sun Semifinals (8)Campbell(15-14) vs (5)Jacksonville State(15-14) We beat these guys by 12 at home, and lost by 10 on the road. This game doesn't start out as well, we fall behind 13-7 as we are shooting only 33% from the field. Our backups come in and play well, Featherston hits a big 3, Steffens hits another in the last few minutes and we go on a run to lead 29-23 at the half! We've committed 6 turnovers and forced 14 Jacksonville State goes on a quick 7-1 run to make it 30-29 Camels early in the 2nd half. We push back ahead by 6 and try to hang on to our lead. We're really forcing the turnovers today, we use some great defense to push ahead to a 13 point lead with 10 minutes left in the game. Jacksonville State cuts our lead back down to 6 but a 3 point play by Tilghman with about 3 minutes left pushes the lead back up to 9 and we cruise from there, and we're in the finals of the Atlantic Sun tournament! Code:
We advance to the Atlantic Sun finals and play the next to lowest seed, Radford! We can beat these guys! Ok so they beat us by 15+ both times we played, but that means nothing! Atlantic Sun Finals The first 10 minutes are back and forth, we lead 14-13 at the 10 minute mark, we failed to take advantage of an early slump by Radford, and a technical foul on radford(missing both free throws). It stays close for the entire first half, I don't think either team ever saw more than a 3 point lead until the final minute, when the Camels pull ahead to make it 31-27 at the half. We're shooting 44% to Radford's 35%, but we're not forcing many turnovers and they are shooting 43% from 3. Radford goes on a 7-0 run to take a 44-41 lead with 12 minutes left in the game, we tie it back up at 46 and it's still back and forth. At the 8 minute mark Radford opens up the biggest lead yet at 5 points, but we score 6 straight and take a 54-53 lead, back and forth, back and forth again... 5 minutes left in the game and it's 62-57 Camels, and it looks like we might pull away here... We take a 66-59 lead, but a couple of 3s by Radford and it's 67-66 with a minute left. We sink 2 free throws, and the block a 3 pointer, and we lead 69-66 with the ball with 25 seconds left, we win if we can just drain our free throws. Jay Scott makes 1 of 2 and we lead by 4 with 21 seconds left. Radford misses a 3 and the game ends. Your Campbell Fighting Camels are going back to the big dance!!! Code:
When this team played so badly, i knew I was just not getting it... I read up on the FBCB Message Boards and paid attention a bit more to the ball handling, and realized that I could go 8 or 9 deep, so I went with my best ball handling lineup and turned up the pressure, and it appears to have worked. Maybe this will be a turnaround for the entire dynasty? Or... maybe I just got hot for 3 games and it'll be 14-14 again next year, we shall see. On to the NCAAs! |

Campbell is awarded the 14th seed in the NCAA Midwest Region. We will play 3 seed Iowa State.
florida Atlantic earns a 1 seed in the NIT! Stetson earns a second 1 seed! This conference is so much better than a 2 prestige conference should be, it's amazing. Florida Atlantic wins its first game over Arkansas State by 6. Stetson runs over Pacific, and hopefully this is an omen of things to come in the NCAAs. NCAA Tournament I don't expect a long writeup here... 3 minutes in and we lead 6-5! Marshall hits a 3, gets a steal, makes a dunk and it's 12-8 Campbell with 13 minutes left in the game. We continue to lead at the 10 minute mark by 2, thanks to 71% shooting from the field.. A little run makes it 30-24 Campbell with 6 minutes left in the first half!! Iowa State is missing layups and we're hitting all our jumpers... we could be up by 10 if we were hitting our Free Throws, 44% so far, and that allows Iowa State back in it, missed the front end of 2 1-and-1s in a row. Iowa State takes the lead back for the first time in quite awhile with a jump shot at the buzzer, it's Iowa State 37, Campbell 36 as we head to the locker room. At the half, Marshall has 10 points to lead the way, and we are shooting 55% to the Cyclones 36%... our 4-9 from the line is killing us, we could have a 6-7 point lead easily here if we just hit our free throws. Iowa State opens the 2nd half with a 3 and they lead by 4, we have to be careful to not let them run away with it here. Jay Scott is fouled and has a shot at a 3 point play, but misses his free throw... we only trail by 1, but are 4-10 from the line. Tilghman misses 2 free throws with us down 1 with 12 minutes left. 33% from the line, and we trail by only 1. Ziegler misses the front end of a 1-and-1. We trail by 3, 4-13 from the line. Iowa State hits two straight 3s to take a 7 point lead, they are starting to make their shots... Marshall is trying to keep us in it, his 20th point makes it 65-60, and his 22nd point makes it 65-62. His 24th point makes it 65-64!! Iowa State comes back with 5 straight and it's 70-64 Iowa State with 3:15 to go in the game. Oh my god. We trail 74-70 and commit a foul... well, here, you guys read. Code:
that was our shot right there, we should have gotten the ball back, down 5 with 40 seconds still to play, we lost it right there. Code:
A valliant effort, Otto Marshall is our hero scoring 25 today, but check out that free throw shooting. We shoot 10-23 from the line as we lose by only 7. Haertbreaking. |

Florida Atlantic makes the final 8 in the NIT with a win over Oregon, while Stetson falls to Pepperdine. Dayton beats Florida Atlantic by 30 and that ends the year for the Atlantic Sun.
The final four pits 1 seed Stanford and 6 seed Cincinnati in one game, and 1 seed Xavier and 2 seed Syracuse in the other. The 1 seeds hold up and we are treated to #1 vs #3 nationally in the finals. Stanford crushes Xavier and we have our first 4 time NCAA champion! The Pac-10 really has put together some serious dominance in the first 10-15 years of this league. Arizona has 3 titles and now Stanford has 4. Awards PG Egon Ziegler is named to the Freshman All-Conference team. PG Otto Marshall is 2nd team All-Conference SG Ulysses Steffens is Freshman All-conference. Otto Marshall, despite coming out of college early to enter the draft, is projected to go undrafted. Moron. Could have done great things with 1 more year as a Camel. Code:

We'll miss Tilghman and Marshall, but we have some pretty damn good players returning next year. I go ahead and end season, I won't get to game playing tonight but I'm excited about next year! |

2016-2017 Season
Our Prestige falls down to 26, and we really need to have a solid season here to keep it from dropping further. Code:
We receive some great news! Without being prompted, our AD has decided to improve our training facilities! Our recruiting class is ranked #123 nationally. More Great NEws! I move up to level 2 as a head coach! With 20 more points I work my way towards being a master recruiter, and put a little into my coaching skills: Recruiting: 60 Scouting: 20 Offense: 35 Defense: 25 I have a lifetime record of 169-207. We've yet to win 20 games, and that is my goal for this season, to begin to push towards the lifetime .500 record. Our great assistant from last year has left, so we must find a new one to hire. I get my first choice, Bud Bell for $55,000/yr, offense 23, defense 63. We are only losing 1 senior this year, Merv Ludwig, a PG who has not seen much action for us, but may start at the point this year. We do have two scholarships available though. Our biggest needs right now probably remain the same, PF and SF, our recruits from last year don't look so impressive to me. I lose one of my top targets in the early recruiting period, and I run training camps, but alas, it is bedtime. |

We've got shooters. Scott and Reimer should be forces down low, and Lingerfelt is lookign great also. On the perimeter, we have a few solid shooters, Ziegler and Featherston and Steffens all saw a lot of action last season. Ziegler looks like an easy start at PG for me with his passing also. Code:
Scott and Reimer are my best inside defenders so they are easy starts. I may start Ludwig over Steffens at SG for his defense + handling. I start the season pretty much the same way I ended the last, high pace high motion, high pressing and trapping and we intend to run 9-10 men out there. |

November 2016
November 13th, 2016 Yale(0-0) at Campbell(0-0) I watch the game, I want to see the flow in this offense... Yale shoots too well, 52% from the field, to our 43%, but we do well to not turn it over too often, and we only lose by 1 today, 72-71. Code:
November 17th, 2016 Davidson(0-1) at Campbell(0-1) We drop this one by 12, and I'm not sure this strategy is the way for us to go this year without Marshall on the court. Code:
Bad news, as Jay Scott has a broken jaw and will miss 17 days. November 21st, 2016 Army(1-1) at Campbell(0-2) I slow down the pace, but I keep up the pressing and trapping defense. You couldn't tell the slowdown based on the score, 87-72 Campbell victory today. Steffens gives us 29 points, Reimer 12 boards in the win. Code:
November 25th, 2016 Campbell(1-2) at American(1-1) We look for a road win today, and its close but we get it, 75-71. Lingerfelt is playing great in Scott's abscence. Code:
November 27th, 2016 Libscomb(0-4) at Campbell(2-2) An easy victory today, 66-43. We force 26 turnovers and watch Lipsomb go 1-18 from 3 today. Code:
November 30th, 2016 Campbell(3-2) at William & Mary(3-1) We want to open the conference up on a good note today. Scott is back from his injury and Lingerfelt is back to backup duty. We get the big road win on the road, 80-77 today. Scott scores 17 but gets i nfoul trouble and Lingerfelt comes in with 18 off the bench. Code:
That ends a pretty solid November. Code:

December 2016
Two pieces of crappy news to start the month. We lose our 2nd top recruit that we wanted, and, Lingerfelt has been suspended for a month for academic reasons. December 3rd, 2016 Campbell(4-2) at Jacksonville(3-1) How good are we? Not good enough for two road wins in conference play i na row... we fall hard today, 78-61. Scott struggles at Center and our backups can't help any. Code:
December 7th, 2016 William and Mary(4-2) at Campbell(4-3) We win handily in our first conference home game, holding all W&M starters to under 10 points, and holding them to 29% shooting on the day while forcing 19 turnovers, a solid performance. Code:
December 10th, 2016 Arkansas Pine-Bluff(3-3) at Campbell(5-3) A home non-conference win puts us to 6-3. We get double figure points from Henry and Featherston off the bench. Code:
December 14th, 2016 Jacksonville State(4-3) at Campbel(6-3) Jacksonville State is 2-0 in conference play so far and this would be a good chance to get ahead in the conference. We pull off a good 12 point win to go 3-1 in the conference. Code:
We're a damn good 3 point shooting team. I push our 3 point shooting up from 2 to 5 and hope it doesn't yank us out of our rhythm. December 21st, 2016 Stetson(6-4) at Campbell(7-3) Stetson is 2-1 in conference play, as well as sporting a win over kansas this year. They're quite probably the best team in the conference, and they beat us 91-79 today. Code:
December 25th, 2016 Campbell(7-4) at Appalachain State(1-7) Merry Christmas. Hopefully this isn't the sign of an incoming slump. We lose to a 1-7 team by 27 today. Code:
December 30th, 2016 Campbell(7-5) at Binghamton(4-8) I drop my 3 point shooting back down again. We screw up again and we're just getting blown out all of a sudden... what's up??? Code:
We move on to January, frustrated as hell. I just cannot seem to make this team win consistantly no matter what I do. Code:

January 2017
We get our first recruit committment, a sharpshooter out of New York. His handling is pretty good for our team, and his perimeter D potential is a B, hopefully enough to show some improvement from hsi current 27. Code:
I have another PG that I could land, but I'm being picky, the PG doesn't play good defense and I risk losing him in the hopes that some of the guys I'm scouting out will fit what I want to do better. January 4th, 2017 Campbell(7-6) at Belmont(3-12) These guys have beaten us each of the last two years, in games we had no business losing. They are 0-5 in conference play and we have no business losing this one either. It's closer than one would reasonably expect, but we do get the win, 79-75 today. Code:
January 7th, 2017 Radford(6-8) at Campbell(8-6) Radford was tied with us in conference play. I'm glad to see us win big here, 74-56, and we're doing a good job on our home court this year. Code:
January 9th, 2017 Central Florida(7-8) at Campbell(9-6) We lose today, a crushing defeat emotionally, seeing as how we could have improved to 6-2 in conference play and put ourselves right in the top of the league. Instead we fall to 5-3 and are inches away from 6th. Wow. With 10 seconds to go we get a steal and a 2 on 1 fast break. Reimer misses the layup, and we fall 79-77. Code:
January 11th, 2017 Campbell(9-7) at Florida Atlantic(5-12) We lose this one, a game we must win if we are to be a threat in this confernce. This is simply infuriating. Code:
January 14th, 2017 Georgia State(5-8) at Campbell(9-8) We get back on track here, thank god. Georgia State was actually 4-1 in conference play, so this was a big one for us. Code:
January 18th, 2017 Campbell(10-8) at Jacksonville State(10-6) We're 6-4 in conference play. Jacksonville State is 6-3. We're 5th, they're 3rd. We desparately need a win here to keep ourselves in the upper half of the conference, but I am not getting my hopes up. we get an awesome performance from Steffens, 11-17 from the field with 26 points, and we pull off the 77-74 upset! Code:
January 25th, 2017 Troy State(8-11) at Campbell(11-8) Another must win for us today to stay near the top of the league standings. We lose, of course. We are so GD close to being at the top of this league, and we go and blow a game against one of the teams near the bottom of the league at home. Infuriating. Again. 81-79. Code:
January 28th, 2017 Florida Atlantic(6-15) at Campbell(11-9) We won't lose to them again will we? Not at home... Whew. I have absolutely no faith in this team to win the easy games... but today we do, 89-71. Steffens puts up 28 in the win. Code:
That ends an amazingly frustrating January, where we beat two of the top teams in the league, and lost to two at the bottom. Code:
We're so close... but we're still not at the very top of the league by any stretch. Code:
I like our balanced scoring, and I like Lingerfelt more than I like Scott, despite Scott's clearly better ratings everywhere but inside scoring. Code:
Code:
Two wins by under 5, and two losses by 2. |

We might be in serious trouble this month... we have 6 games on the road, to 1 home game. February 1st, 2017 Campbell(12-9) at Radford(9-12) I have a verrry bad feeling about this. We get crushed today. Code:
February 4th, 2017 Campbell(12-10) at Georgia State(10-9) Two straight losses. Code:
February 6th, 2017 Jacksonville(11-10) at Campbell(12-11) We win our last home game of the year to stay just above .500. Code:
February 11th, 2017 Campbell(13-11) at Stetson(12-10) Stetson sweeps us on the year, 91-77 todya. Code:
February 15th, 2017 Campbell(13-12) at Alabama A&M(7-15) We win big today on the road vs a crappy team. Code:
February 18th, 2017 Campbell(14-12) at Troy State(11-13) Troy State is 7-8 in conference play. With a win we clinch a top 5 finish in conference and could finish as high as 3rd. Holy crap look at that blowout. 75-48 Troy State. Grrr. Code:
February 22nd, 2017 Campbell(14-13) at Centenary(9-16) We barely pull this out, 70-69. We get a winning season thanks to this game. Code:
Tournament and season ending stuff tomorrow! I am not giving up on this team, I will break through and take them up... this has been damn difficult though. |

We lose another scholarshp player and we're done recruiting for the year.
Atlantic Sun Tournament (4) Troy State(14-14) vs (5) Campbell(15-13) We suffered a 2 point loss to Troy State at our place, and they blew us out of the water at theirs... we need some help here. We trail by 3-5 for most of the first half. Troy State goes on a run with about 5 minutes left in the half and takes a 12 point lead. That's what we're down by at the half, 47-35. The oddly named Scott Scott, Troy State's center, has 9 points/8 boards by the half. We never cut into the lead and end up losing by 19, shooting 28% on the day. Code:
3 seed Stetson goes on to win the Atlantic Sun tournament. Stetson is a 15 seed in the South, they get to take a shot at 2 seed Temple. The Atlantic Sun gets its first NCAA Tournament win!!! 15 seed Stetson stuns #12 in the nation Temple, 72-63!! The run ends quickly as 7 seed Iowa State beats Stetson by 20, but still, a landmark event for the conference! The final four pits 5 seec North Carolina vs 1 seed Kentucky, and 2 seed Texas and 1 seed Michigan State. The top seeds win and we get to see Kentucky and Michigan State in the finals. Michigan State crushes Kentucky to win the national title! Awards Maurice Reimer is 1st team all-conference! Code:
Our only senior is Ludwig. Code:
Looking over the career numbers of our players, no current player is even on the top 10 in scoring. Reimer is creeping up the list for rebounds, and Scott is on it too. Time to move on. This team will be successful under my reign. |

2017-2018 Season
Our recruiting class(... ok, our 1 recruit, who was 3rd tier on our list to go after) is ranked #196. We haven't been landing any top guys lately, I think in part that's due to me trying to take another step up and aiming a bit too high. I plan on correcting that this year. Our prestige has fallen to 24 this year. Our training facilities improve to 39! Hopefully that will noticibly help us out in player progression. Code:
We need to get a conference title... this is 3 years in a row with that goal. Code:
Last year was a severe step down for us in terms of ranking, but I was glad to see us back to .500 in conference play. We hire Oscar Stackhouse away from Navy, he has offense of 16, defense 62. Louisiana-Monroe has been promoted up into the Atlantic Sun from the Southlnd conference! They went 25-7 last year and made it to the 2nd round of the NCAAs. Belmont has been demoted. We have 3 scholarships to offer this year. We are losing PF/C tandem Jay Scott and MAurice Reimer. I would lilke to make both PF and C a major priority. Lingerfelt will be a senior next year so centers are important. We have an ok PF Shawn Boling who is a freshman, but we'd like a better upgrade. Our other loss will be SG Carl Featherston, who has been a contributor but never a starter. PF/C/SF are our goals this year. I am much, much more careful and meticulous in my early recruiting this year, avoiding the top guys even if they ahve an average interest in me, starting at about #95 overall(The #50 overall player was interested in me, but it'd be a lot of money to try to hold that interest... that's the mistake I've been making). I go for two players I think I have a legitimate shot at and one guy that might be a slight reach. Oh god. ALL THREE REJECT at the same time. I'm screwed. I set my sights lower!! |

November 12, 2017 Campbell(0-0) at Texas-Pan Am(0-0) We open the season with a win, 65-59 on the road. We turn it over a lot, 16 times, but force 21. We only shoot 44%, I'm not sure what to think of our strategy right now. Code:
November 15th, 2017 Campbell(1-0) at Gardner Webb(0-1) This should be a guarenteed win. Whoa. Red alert. Gardner Webb beats us by 12. We shoot 31%. Code:
november 19th, 2017 Campbell(1-1) at Appalachain State(0-0) We slow down the pace today, and the scores shoot up... weird how that works. I changed it to an inside focus and it worked, Scott and Reimer both scored 18 and Ziegler put up 2! Continued... |

In our last game, Ziegler scored 20...
Code:
November 23rd, 2017 Alabama A&M(2-0) at Campbell(2-1) We get a 10 point win today, our inside guys don't shoot well at all, but our defense is good. Code:
November 29th, 2017 Campbell(3-1) at Troy State(1-2) Troy State beat us 3 times last year, twice by more than 15. This is the conference opener for us both. It's a winner! 90-82 today! Our big men are solid today, Scott gives us 18 points/11 boards and Lingerfelt came in when Reimer got into foul trouble and put up 11 points. A very solid game for us today. Code:
We get through the month 4-1, a solid start for theCamels. Code:
Code:
Good stuff here. I like Ziegler getting points on the perimeter to make it easier for Reimer and Scott to dominate down low. Code:

We are having serious troubles recruiting. We toned down our hopes of landing a top 3 star guy but we apparently didn't tone it down far enough. No one landed yet and we're going to have to hope to pick up a few 2 star guys that have some decent skills, or, land a 3 star guy or two late that no one offers on... December 2nd, 2017 Arkansas Pine-Bluff(1-3) at Campbell(4-1) Of course we win here, but the win is so dominant that it makes me pretty happy about my outlook. Check out Reimer and Scott today! Code:
February 6th, 2017 Georgia State(4-2) at Campbell(5-1) A tough game today from a team that's back on top of the Atlantic Sun. We play them close but we can't pull out the victory, it's 78-72 today. Code:
December 13th, 2017 Jacksonville State(4-4) at Campbell(5-2) A good win today, I like seeing us win the home games in conference... it's a must against all but the very top teams. We force them into a ton of turnovers on the way to a 15 point win. Ziegler is the man today with 27 points. Scott and Reimer both supply double doubles. Code:
December 20th, 2017 Campbell(6-2) at Florida Atlantic(4-5) Beating the decent teams at home is one thing. Florida Atlantic is 3-1 in conference play. We absolutely crush them at their place, 87-67! 26 points from Reimer, 16 boards from Scott, 7 assists from Ziegler, great job Camels! Code:
December 26th, 2017 Binghamton(5-6) at Campbell(7-2) Ohhh, a tough home loss. It's 78-77 today. Binghamton has a SG that puts up 32 points and 10 boards on us. We shoot 50% to their 39%, but they go 23-26 from the line and that's the biggest difference. Code:
December 30th, 2017 Campbell(7-3) at Baylor(5-5) This is our hardest game(shush) of the season, on the road against a major conference team, albeit a doormat. We can't beat a top tier team, even a crappy one. Code:
That ends our December, not bad except for the Binghamton game, but that was at least non-conference. Code:

We land our first recruit, His rebounding is going to be a problem but he has the potential to be a very good scorer, and a good ball handler as well. Code:
I make a few more contacts and hope I don't get stuck with two more walkons.. I'm killing myself recruiting. January 3rd, 2018 Florida Atlantic(4-8) at Campbell(7-4) We crushed them at their place, and this is a good chance to break our two game losing streak. Wow. 94-59 Camels!! That is our best highest scoring game ever!! Code:
We shot 22 games with a 3P shooting at 2, I drop it to 0. We aren't a good 3 point shooting team. January 6th, 2018 Campbell(8-4) at Georgia State(9-6) We're second. Our only conference loss is to Georgia State(4-1 in conference play). Problem is, Georgia State is 7-0 in conference play. GO CAMELS, GO CAMELS! We lead 40-33 at the half. Georgia State comes back to lead 57-54 with 3 minutes left. It's 59-58 Georgia State with 31 seconds left. Ziegler runs a ton of time off the clock, and passes to Scott. Scott gets it right back to Ziegler who shoots as time expires, good!!! 60-59 over the 7-0 Georgia State team! Code:
We shoot only 36%, they shoot 50%, but we get an amazing 13 more FG attempts. We also go 16-18 from the FT line to their 9-11. A great win! January 8th, 2018 Campbell(9-4) at Jacksonville(5-10) We fear the letdown, and it's a damn close game. Ziegler struggles, 3-14 from the field, but Maurice Reimer is the star today, 6-7 FG and 9-9 FTs, he carries us to a 62-61 win! Code:
January 10th, 2018 Campbell(10-4) at William&Mary(11-5) our 3rd straight road game in conferece play, W&M is 4th, 5-3 in conference play. We're unable to win 3 straight on the road, falling in another close one, 75-71. Code:
January 14th, 2018 Campbell(10-5) at IPFW(8-11) Another road win, 3-1 on this stretch in January. Scott gives us 14 points and 14 boards in the 11 point win. Code:
January 20th, 2018 Campbell(11-5) at Jacksonville State(5-12) On the road AGAIN, this time against the worst team in the Atlantic Sun. We fully expect to win, and we do, 88-78. All 5 starters put up double figures, as does Steffens off the bench. We shoot 52% and get 27 FTs, making a solid 21 of them(78%). Code:
January 24th, 2018 Radford(10-7) at Campbell(12-5) Radford is 5-3 in conference play and we don't expect an easy one here. We put up another solid effort with 93 points, allowing 82. We allow Radford to shoot 58% from the field while we only shoot 51%, but 21-25 from the line offsets that nicely. Code:
January 27th, 2018 Central Florida(7-12) at Campbell(13-5) We expect an easy win against this 2-8 conference team. We absolutely crush Central Florida, 75-49! Code:
That ends a *great* January. We are rollin! Code:
We are 9th nationally at the free throw line! Awesome. We're top 3 in so many categories statistically. Code:
Georgia State lost two games later on in the month and we've moved into first! Code:

We get another recruit. HRMMMMMMMMMMMMM. I hope that I haven't taken advantage of a bug. There was a recruit from Hawaii. No one was goign to hawaii. I went to hawaii. I landed the 9th best player in the country. I have never seen a player like this available this late in the year before... I didn't even evaluate him, I just went after him. Code:
Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? I sure don't want to be taking advantage of loopholes in recruiting, but this is a first. February 3rd, 2018 Louisiana-Monroe(8-12) at Campbell(14-5) LA-Monroe is 5-5 in conference play. Fueled by the hype of landing a top recruit, we go on to a 84-81 win. Code:
February 6th, 2018 Campbell(15-5) at Louisiana-Monroe(8-13) We blow away our scoring record from earlier in the season. 107-82!!! We shoot 58%, force 9 more turnovers than we commit. 19 points from Scott and Reimer each, 20 from Ziegler. Code:
February 7th, 2018 Stetson(15-8) at CAmpbell(16-5) 3 games in 6 days. Stetson is tied w/ Ga State in the loss column. This is a huge game. Ouch, 76-61 Stetson. We each shoot about 45%, same # of turnovers, pretty even rebounding. The difference is that they get 8 more FT attempts and 9 more FT Made. Code:
February 10th, 2018 Campbell(16-6) at Radford(10-12) Uh-oh. Please lets not collapse Camels!! Code:
February 14th, 2018 W&M(15-8) at Campbell(16-7) We desparately need to win this one. CRAP. We fall by 5, 92-87. Danger Will Robinson, DANGER. Code:
February 17th, 2018 Centenary(7-16) at Campbell(16-8) Well, we needed the win, but 77-74 against this team?! Code:
February 21st, 2018 Campbell(17-8) at Stetson(19-8) Another loss, but this one wasn't so unexpected. Code:
And its bedtime unfortunately. We're in 3rd, only 1/2 game ahead of 4th. We have one last conference game, at a surging Jacksonville Team. |

I have seen this happen once but it was when I was using one of the earlier patches. I landed the #5 overall recruit for Vermont! No offered had offered him a scholarship so in May I decided too and he signed! He ended being National Freshman of the Year and National Player of the Year as a sophomore and had many other awards. He then bolted for the NBA. This is the only time I have pulled off anything this drastic.

Just bumping this for myself. This dynasty is far from dead, but I have been on a major, major hot streak at the online poker tables in the past two weeks and every time I sit down at the computer all I want to do is play poker. I will definitely be back to this dynasty the first time my cards go cold for a little while, or possibly the first time I sit down a little too tired to play cards instead

Finishing out the 2018 Season, we are on a poor sreak, having lost 4 of our last 5, and falling from 11-2 to 11-6 in conference play. We close out the regular season vs Jacksonville.
February 24th, 2018 Jacksonville(13-13) at Campbell(17-9) We close out the conference season on a good note with an 88-72 victory. Scott and Reimer have monster days, 23 points/18 boards from Scott and 22 points/8 boards from Reimer. Code:
February 26th, 2018 Campbell(18-9) at Army(10-16) We end the year on a positive note with a 77-73 win. Reimer gives us 24 points and Ziegler puts up 13. Code:
That ends the regular season, and it also ends our February. Code:
We end with a solid 3rd place finish in conference play. Code:

At this point I apply the most recent patch. |

March 2018
I get the evaluation on my top prospect, #9 nationally Joe Davis. This guy should take me to the top of the Atlantic Sun for as long as he decides to stay in college. Code:
Atlantic Sun Tournament March 1st, 2018 (3) Campbell(19-9) vs (6) Louisiana-Monroe(12-16) Our chance to get to 20 wins. We jump out to a 7-2 lead at the 15 minute mark. Louisiana Monroe comes back though, as Jay Scott gets into foul trouble early. After falling behind by 2 we go on a run to take a 29-20 lead.. Louisiana Monroe fights back again though and it's 35-33 Camels at the half. We aren't shooting well at all(40%) and haven't been able to take advantage of 11 Louisiana Monroe Turnovers. Scott gets his 4th foul early in the 2nd half, and Reimer has 3... this is a major problem for us. Another Camel run early and we take a 49-40 lead with 15 minuets left in the game. Ziegler has 11 points to lead us so far. Louisiana Monroe comes back again and it's 53-50.. from there we finally push the lead up to a margain that they can't come back from, and Ziegler makes his free throws to give us the win by 8. Code:
Scott's foul trouble killed us, Reimer was able to contribute in the second half though and Ziegler hit enough big shots to give us the win. This win gives us our first 20 win season ever! Semifinals We catch a break as Central Florida upset Georgia State in round 1. (7) Central Florida(13-16) vs (3) Campbell(20-9) We look terrible early, as at the 10 minute mark we've only hit 1 field goal, and trail 15-5. We start to shoot a little bit better, but we are having a major turnover problem... at the half, it's 25-23 Central Florida, we're shooting 43% to their 33%, but they have 8 steals and we have 13 turnovers to their 6. Jay Scott has 2 fouls today but also 9 points/5 boards at the half. Reimer has 3 fouls and 0 points. Central Florida goes on a run to start the 2nd half to go up 31-23. It's looking like our season is over, we trail 41-30 with 10 minuets left and we're up to 18 turnovers... yep, this is a Central Florida team on a mission, they beat the #2 and #3 seeds to make the conference finals. Code:
In the finals Central Florida closes out 5 seed Jacksonville to win the Atlantic Sun Tournament. Central Florida ends up a 16 seed in the South, and will lose to Mississippi in Round 1. Georgia State earns an 8 seed in the NIT, facing Drake in prelim round action. Stetson also earns an NIT bid and a 4 seed. Georgia State loses to Drake, Gonzaga crushes Stetson, and mississippi beats Central Florida, and the Atlantic Sun is done before the first weekend. The final four pits (3) Kent State and (3) Cincinnati, and cinderella (7) Southern Illinois vs powerhouse (4) Kentucky. We see the strangest finals ever as Kent State goes to face Southern Illinois. The Salukis win it and we have our lowest seed ever to win a title! We end up filling our roster with a very average point guard. Code:

Awards
Marcus Reimer wins the conference player of the year award! Reimer averaged 30 minutes a game, 15.7 points and 7.7 rebounds. He also put up 3 assists a game, great from the PF spot. His +/- of 7.13 this year is one of our best ever. PG Egon Ziegler is 1st team all conference. Zielger averaged 14.9 points and 4.1 assists for us. His 5.43 +/- is also very solid. C Jay Scott gives us 3 1st team all confeernce performers! Scott put up 11 points and 9.3 boards, and a 5.83 +/-. Our 3 seniors are going to go undrafted. Graduating Seniors Our first senior is player of the year Maurice Reimer. Reimer's defense and scoring skills developed very well over his career at Campbell. Code:
Next up is 4 year starter Jay Scott. Code:
Finally we have 4 year bench player Carl Featherston. Code:
Reimer will graduate as Campbell's 3rd all time leading scorer. Reimer and Scott leave as our 3rd and 4th best all time rebounders, far far behind Godin and Stanfill from earlier teams. Reimer ends up just 2 steals shy of Otto Marshall for the career steals lead. Next year's team will feature 3 returning starters and one all-world freshman it appears. We go ahead and end season. |

2018-2019 Season
We have the 22nd best Recruiting Class in the nation! Code:
Our training facilities have greatly improved this year! Our success last year bounces our prestige up to 31. Code:
Southern Illinois makes the only jump this year, taking their national championship into the big ten. Wisconsin falls down into the Missouri Valley Conference. We lose our recruiting coordinator and our lead scout. We concentrate most on recruiting this year, hiring a new recruiting coordinator Dewey Jenks with a 56 recruiting rating for $70,000. Our new scout is $50,000 34 rated Jim Holsinger. We only have 6 games to schedule this year, and based on some of the previous discussion, I am going to make an effort to schedule some tougher games for my team this year. I set myself up for 2 or 3 guarenteed losses, including trips to Duke and NC State. Code:
We have 5 graduating seniors this year. Ziegler will be our starting PG, and SGs Williams and Steffens will both see signifigant action. I may actually redshirt our star C Joe Davis, so another senior may be one of my centers. Our team actually looks kinda weak right now. We need to recruit at PF and SG for sure, outside of that we just need talent. 5 scholarships will be tough to fill. |

We're going to count a lot on Lingerfelt for inside scoring. Steffens has good inside and quickness, he should be able to create his own shot a lot, same with Ziegler. Code:
Lingerfelt leaves a lot to be desired at center on defense. Boling is probably going to be my PF, Steffens has ok D in the post and perimeter and will be my SF, Williams is likely my SG. |

November 2018
We're not a great passing team and I am hoping Ziegler and Steffens can create their own shots, so I'm not going to use much motion. We will go with a pretty high pace though and we plan on using a lot of subs. November 22nd, 2018 Arkansas-Little Rock(0-0) at Campbell(0-0) This is a higher prestige team, and we are thrilled to get a 1 point win today, 78-77! Lingerfelt is solid today but he got in foul trouble, and Steffens did great too. Code:
November 27th, 2018 Ball State(1-1) at Campbell(1-0) This is antoher one of the higher prestige teams we went after this year. They shut us down and win 82-67. Lingerfelt gives us a double double, and Steffens puts up 18 in the loss, we shot a horrid 5-24 from 3. Code:
That's our december, just 2 games this month. |

We overreached a little on the scholarship hunt and are struggling now. 3rd STring center Carl Gouveia is out for the month on an academic suspension, no problem. 2nd string PG Freddie Henry rupteried his ACL, he's out for the year. December 2nd, 2018 Campbell(1-1) at #6 Duke(4-0) Simply an experience builder. We almost scored 70! Code:

December 2018, cont.
December 6th, 2018 Appalachian State(2-2) at Campbell(1-2) We get a win today, 87-80 to improve back to .500. In our wins, we're still allowing 50% shooting, but we are getting to the line more and forcing mor turnovers... Code:
December 8th, 2018 Jacksonville State(3-1) at Campbell(2-2) We open the confrence schedule today and get crushed by Jacksonville State, the final is 84-63. We again allow 50% shooting but today we turn it over 22 times. Code:
December 12th, 2018 Jacksonville(3-4) at Campbell(2-3) I givei t one last game before lowering the pace... yeah, we are in trouble, it's 77-61 Jacksonville. Code:
December 19th, 2018 Campbell(2-4) at Florida Atlantic(3-3) I lower both our pace and 3 point shooting tendenies, 24 3s is just too much for our team... we score 91 points with the lower pace, of course. Today we beat up on Fla Atlantic, 91-78. Lingerfelt is near perfect today, 27 points/9 boards. Code:
December 25th, 2018 Campbell(3-4) at North Carolina State(5-2) Its another one of our tough non-conference games designed to improve player progression in future years. It's a pretty painful experience for us today. Code:
December 29th, 2018 Campbell(3-5) at Georgia State(5-3) Back in conference today, to take on the tops in the league, 4-0 in conference play Georgia State. We hang close, and I think we are improving, but we fall 73-70 on the road today. Code:
That ends our December, it's a rough one. Code:

January 2019
We lose two recruits, but we finally do land one. He's nothing exciting, unfortunately, and we are struggling big time this recruiting season. Code:
January 1st, 2019 Campbell (3-6) at Arkansas-Pine Bluff(5-3) A very close game today, against an Ark-PB team that actually carries a prestige of 55. We fall 71-69 on the road though. Code:
January 3rd, 2019 UNC-Greensboro(4-6) at Campbell(3-7) We get a big win here, 74-59. We held them to 39% from the field, and controlled this game in every way, boards, steals, turnovers, shooting, everywhere. Lingerfelt put up a huge 31 point game todya. Code:
January 10th, 2019 Campbell(4-7) at Alabama A&M(4-9) Looking to start a winning streak in non-conference play today, but we fall by 9, 80-71. Code:
January 12th, 2019 Stetson(7-7) at Campbell(4-8) Our new strategies finally pay off in conference play, as we hold on for a 61-60 win against the 2nd best team in the Atlantic Sun. Code:
January 14th, 2019 William & Mary(1-14) at Campbell(5-8) Well, we just went and lost to one of the worst teams in all of college basketball, at home. Not much to say here... Code:
January 19th, 2019 Troy State(8-8) at Campbell(5-9) We come back off that horrid loss and get a big win at home today, 82-81. Lingerfelt and Steffens are both big for us today. Code:
January 23rd, 2019 Campbell(6-9) at Jacksonville(11-7) We just aren't very good this year, and we fall 77-63 to Jacksonville. Code:
January 26th, 2019 Central Florida(8-10) at Campbell(6-10) A tough 2 point loss at home. Code:
January 30th, 2019 Louisiana-Monroe(4-15) at Campbell(6-11) A big 26 point win today keeps us in the hunt for the conference tourney(yeah, just the tourney, 8th place... we're 9th right now) Code:
That ends our January Code:

February 2019
Progress in recruiting this month but not much really, we might land a few decent foreign guys. February 2nd, 2019 Campbell(7-11) at Jacksonville State(9-11) If we're going to play in this conference tourney we need to get a few road wins... and we start off good today, 75-70 over Jacksonville State! Code:
February 9th, 2019 Campbell(8-11) at Troy State(11-11) Another chance for a big road win today, and we come through again! 67-62 Camels, and we have actually improved back to 6-6 in conference play. Even with Lingerfelt ice cold we got the win today. Code:
February 11th, 2019 Campbell(9-11) at Louisiana-Monroe(4-18) With a win here we are actually in the hunt! We rise to 7-6 in conference play with a solid 8 point win. Code:
Right now, 3rd in the Atlantic Sun is 7-5, 9th is 7-9, we are 7-6 in 6th... these next few games will be HUGE. February 13th, 2019 Florida Atlantic(13-8) at Campbell(10-11) Fla Atlantic is 3rd, a win today would give us 4 straight and put us in a great position. Our defense is non-exisitant though, and we lose 98-87. Code:
February 20th, 2019 Campbell(10-12) at Radford(11-11) We're tied with Radford for 6th right now, a very big game that we can't come through and win. We allow Radford to shoot 58%... terrible, and it was still close despite that. Code:
February 23rd, 2019 Georgia State(14-10) at Campbell(10-13) We get demolished by the #1 team in the league, 84-65, and our hopes of making it back up into the upper half of the league are dashed. Code:
February 27th, 2019 Campbell(10-14) at Stetson(14-12) Another crushing loss today, by 27. Code:
March 2nd, 2019 Campbell(10-15) at William & Mary(7-20) We beat up on the worst team in the conference, and finish 8-10 in league play, now we have to wait for Troy State to play to find out if it's good enough to get us into the league tournament. Code:
March 4th, 2019 Campbell(11-15) at Binghamton(13-14) We close out with two non-conference games, and win today 80-77. Code:
March 6th, 2019 Texas-Pan Am(4-22) at Campbell(12-15) We win our last game to finish almost .500. Code:
Thanks to a Troy State loss we are 8th in conference play instead of 9th, and we get one last shot at Georgia State in the tournament. March 7th, 2019 Atlantic Sun Quarterfinals (1) Georgia State(17-11) vs (8) Campbell(13-15) We hand tough early and actually have a 15-8 lead early on... Georgia State goes on a run though and the score is 43-36 Georgia State at the half. Ziegler has 11 points and 5 assists, but Lingerfelt is in foul trouble, so is Steffens, 9 points between the two of them at the half. We never seriously threaten in the 2nd half and our season is over. Code:
Georgia State holds serve and wins the conference title this year. Jacksonville and Florida Atlantic might have shots at NIT bids. Postseason Georgia State earns a #13 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and will play Wake Forest in round 1. We get no NIT bids. It's close, but Georgia State falls to Wake Forset, 67-64. The final four is a boring one this year, pitting (1) Indiana vs (5) Arizona and (1) Kansas vs (1) Kentucky. Indiana and Kansas both win, pitting 1 vs 2 in the national rankings, and we have quite the classic, with Indiana beating Kansas 81-80 to win the national title. |

Rudolph Lingerfelt is 2nd team All-Conference this year.
Baaaad news, two foreign guys I offered scholarships to will not be attending Campbell. We're only going to have 8 scholarship players on the roster next year. Graduating Seniors We lose 4 year starter Egon Ziegler, he started at SG for two years and at PG for two. Code:
Ulysses Steffens started 3 years, averaging 15.9 ppg as a senior: Code:
Lingerfelt was also a 3 year starter Code:
John Williams started two years for Campbell. Code:

Egon Ziegler is 3rd all time in scoring at Campbell, Steffens is 4th, both of those are a suprise to me.
Egon Ziegler graduates as our top assist man in history, with 359, 22 more than Derek Beauregard back in 2012. Code:
By the end of the year, our schedule looks slightly stronger, with 5 games against the top 100. Comparatively, Georgia STate played 5 against the top 50, and 8 total against the top 100. We go ahead and end season. Hopefully the scheduling changes I made and will continue to make will pay of dividends for us very soon. Next year also will see us showcasing top 10 recruit Joe Davis, so I am very excited about the new season. |

2019-2020 Season
Our recruiting class is ranked #143 nationally, and I wonder how it can be that high. I cut some of the horrid walk-ons, and our roster size is 12, a bit slim. There is just one conference change this year, Northwestern gets its second demotion, down from the Atlantic-10 to the Horizon league. Detroit moves up following a 26-6 season, and 7 NCAA bids in the last 10 years. Our prestige drops 1 to 30. Code:
Last year was our first losing season since 2012, and our first regular season losing record since 2008, a major setback. For the first time ever, my job may be at stake. Code:
I schedule our toughest schedule yet, we will open the season at Alabama, at Arkansas, at Southern Cal, and at Georgia Tech. A couple of our home non-conference games are a little bit tougher, but nothing like that. We again have 5 scholarships, and we have needs everywhere but Center. I am much much much more careful in my early contact period. I contact two guys around #100 in the nation, and 5-6 in the #160 range and 5-6 in the #200 range, hopefully we can land some good prospects in the top 200 this year by aiming a bit lower to start. I spend the entire early recruiting period going after 4 recruits that I've offered scholarships to. I really hope and expect 1 or 2 of them will sign with me during the early period. Early Recruiting Results We are looking to be on our way to a very solid recruiting class this year! All of these guys are near #200 in the nation, not bad really. Code:
I *love* Carey's hands and passing ability, though his defense is a bit weak. Code:
Mounts looks like a good shooter with pretty good ball handling skills. He's got great quickness and an ok inside ability, a guy I hope can create and be a graet scorer for us. Code:
Love I only talked to once, he was dying to come to Campbell. He's not great but to land him so easily was nice, he will probably be able to see some playing time after a redshirt year. |

Roster Review
Code:
Stamp and Gomes are red-shirted this year, I try to stick to my guns and redshirt my incoming recruits regardless of roster size. Code:
Joe Davis is clearly the man for us this year. Strain and Henry have some potential as well. Code:
With Davis and Boling I should be very good in the post defenisvely this year. Strain, Henry and Grubbs are looking like my backcourt, Tim Smith is also in the running. I settle on the following: C: Joe Davis PF: Shawn Boling SF: Tim Smith SG: Chris Strain PG: Freddie Henry All of my reserves will see signifigant action. I go with an inside focus and make Joe Davis my only go-to guy. I will run a slower paced offense with little motion, and I seem to get 15 3 pointers even with 0 3P usage, so I set it to 0. This team will play man to man and will perss a fair amount. |

November 17th, 2019 Campbell(0-0) at #17 Alabama(0-0) We don't expect to challenge here, and we don't, it's a blowout. Code:
November 22st, 2019 Campbell(0-1) at #21 Arkansas(0-1) Pretty much just like our first game. Joe Davis shows himself to be very very impressive in this one though. Code:
November 25th, 2019 Campbell(0-2) at Southern Cal(1-0) This better be good for me later, because it sure hurts today! Code:
I cannot wait to see Joe Davis in action in conference play. November 28th, 2019 Campbell(0-3) at Georgia Tech(1-1) We play a lot better in this one, but lose nonetheless, 80-70. Code:
We end November 0-4, but all the guarenteed losses are out of the way also. |
