I'm at the point at which I'm going to start immersing myself in a different game, and when the digidownload patch finally comes out, I won't feel like jumping back into WWSM. I hope this patch is available today or tomorrow.

Could ya'll at least moan endlessly about the correct company? Digital River = The Devil
Sega = Not EAvil (though, personally, I don't have any problems with EA either...but thats a different discussion) |

Yeah, you guys were right -- I did have the wrong patch. It was weird, since the game was working anyway -- maybe I patched the demo? Anyway, everything seems fine now!

Can I see hands of anyone who fought, er, bought FOF2/EA-FOF who did NOT see this coming with Digital River? Gotcha.
Memo to SI: If anyone applies for employment under the name Dave or David Dial, PLEASE do not accept. Under any circumstance. ----- The SI guys do the usual great job they always do. As Frogger said, there's no way they can be blamed for this. I can only hope they do not get too frustrated with the whole process of digital downloads, considering how much work the whole crew must have put into this. I hope you guys at SI understand and remember how highly we think of you when the feeling of frustrations threatens to overwhelm. While it is true that it is DR's fault and not SEGA that the digital patch is delayed, SEGA has to take a sizable chunk of the blame given that they chose these assclowns for this job. They are not a small outfit and surely they have choices as to who does this job for them (ViaTech immediately comes to mind). Instead they elect to go with these guys who gives you the feeling that they couldn't code a paper bag to NOT be able to find their way out of. |

I'm not referring to the number of leagues and countries (on many systems, 33 leagues in 11 countries should be fine). I mean the database size, as far as small/normal/large/huge. What did you have it set to?

Is there a brick-and-mortar store that carries WWSM? I picked up last year's version at Gamestop, iirc; but I can't find it in the online search.

I'll third this sentiment. I'm one of the people who get the crashing unless threading is turned off. It wasn't too bad at first, and I've only had one crash since then, but I'm now into my fourth season and man, it is SLOOOOOOOOW. About two minutes for loads and saves slow.

Here's the copy and paste from a post over on the SI boards: "Here's what you can do. Load up your saved game, go to Start>Run, type in %temp%, navigate to the FM06 folder, and delete all the .pks files there, ONLY the .pks files or your game will be screwed. Then save your game. Backup your old game if necessary. This also helps reduce the size of saved games but the downside of this is that you can no longer view past matches."

I have had only two crashes from this game, and I have actually traced those two back to the fact that this computer I am using right now is not exactly top-notch and I was running into virtual memory problems. Hope to get the normal laptop back up and running one day, but int he meantime the old one here seems to work just fine except that it's a little slow because it just plain isn't fast enough.....But I live with it fine.

Now this is cool. I've never seen anything like this in past versions of the game.
I first get an email from the chairman saying that he want to raise the club's profile with a big name signing... Then when I go out and inquire about a player just above our transfer budget, I get a message that he's pleased that I've heeded his advice. Niiiice!

Do you have to do this every time you save your game? Or basically as often as you want? Also, do you have to have the game going and your game loaded before you do this? I can go into that folder now and see the .pks files, but if I delete them will that not work? Anyone know?

this was in FM2005 and has happened to me a few times with Q.P.R. One thing to remember though. Once he let's you go over the budget, you are kind of "in the red" and any sales you make until the new season will be used to pay back that overspending. This means once you get into that kind of thing, you basically sign only one player and that's about it for the season. Can be nice when you're about set at every spot and want one difference maker, but if you have many holes to fill, you may have trouble filling them... FM

to add on this, I don't remember ever seeing the "pleased of seeing you heeding his advice" comment on the transfer screen though. When he'd told me to go after high profile players, I'd simply bid on one I judged to be a high profile player and hoped he'd let me go over budget, which he always did, at least on all the players I tried to bring on board... To see it before you make the bid is very nice though... FM

you need to start the game, load your savegame to unpack the .pks otherwise the temp folder of FM is empty. Then you can go and delete the files and save your game, you'll see immediately the size of your savegame has shrunk. Always good to back up your savegame before doing this thing... You can do it as often as you want. I'd recommend doing it prior to the start of the season as what games you'd lose would be those of the previous season. I sometimes like to see the stats of games from my future opponents while scouting, but I almost never scout as far back as the previous season... FM

Man, I just remembered this and I guess I will post it here.
Do players/media adjust their views of your team during a season? Because I don't ever really see it happen yet when I wish I would. With Expreso Rojo in Columbia, I am in my first year of the Mustang A (basically Premier league) and of course not much is thought of my team at first. But I knew I had a bad ass group of young guys. After a few games my stud 20 year old forward is getting a TON of media and his value has shot up to 2.5 million. So all of the sudden he feels pressure from local media, then feels he needs to move to a bigger club. At the mid point of the season there is a playoff of the top 8 teams, I am currently sitting at 4th. I end up getting the final only to lose. But in the group round I defeated a so called bigger lub twice and yet this guy is attracted to this club. Not to mention the media gives me no respect most of the time still, even though my team has only lost 2 of 17 games (4 of 24 if you include the mid-season playoff). I understand players/media being a little skeptical at first, but by this pointin time they should be feeling that my team is good, which would mean a) respect from the media in the odds and b) players not saying they want to go to a bigger club in order to compete for trophies, when my team is getting closer to the trophies then the teams they are interested in.

Just wondering, but do you have 'Threading' turned on? That seems to cause problems with the download version for some reason, not sure why though. I unchecked that and it's run without a single problem since. And Cringer, from my experience the media and such do react to how you're doing throughout the season. For instance, my current season as Spurs. Start the season, I'm 5th in the title odds and expected to finish up in that region...after a horrible start I'm hovering around 14th most of the year up to November, and I'm struggling and such...then I go on an amazing run of form and as I climb up the table the media regards spurs slightly differently. Most of all calling me 'In form' and 'High flying' untill at last I'm a title contender again here in the late stages. But you're not gonna go from being a small club to a big club during the course of one season, probably not even if you won the championship. Did Blackburn become a 'Big Club' when they won the Premiership? No. You'll have to do good for two or three years to really become a 'big club'. Unless some rich billionaire buys your club, of course. |

While we're asking questions in here (and talking about leagues), I'd like some opinions. I'm thinking of putting WSM on my desktop. It's an 800 mHz processor, with 512 MB of RAM. How many countries and leagues do y'all think I could play with?
