I heard there might be a 6th league in the USA next year, they might be making you wait until next season.

hmm if that is the case, how will it work? will they reduce the number of people in the 5th division? who will be relegated? Would 5th leaguers be making more money from sponsers and such?

Yeah, baby, YEAH.
With the latest weekly update, my Youth Squad has made it to Passable. And, FYI, if you are wondering, as I did, it only took 3 weeks to go from Inadequate to Passable.

Speaking of good news from the youth squad, mine just cranked out a solid 19 yr old defender. Exactly when I needed one too. Sure, my team is abysmal, but at least they make it interesting for me.

I'd imagine a fair bit of time since he's already 23. If you want one to train up to passable, I would look for one under 20. Quote:
I would guess little to no effect. The biggest effect seems to be that they'd tire out more in sunny weather at positions where they run around a lot and more able to handle the slippery of rain a bit better. But, they don't run around a lot. So, I'd imagine little or no effect. |

I just cranked out an 18 yo that is indaquete at defense, playmaking, and set pieces. He is passable at scoring. Im gonna keep this guy, and train him up next season on scoring, he looks to be my best scorer with some help.

So Jeeber, when did you apply for a team? Trying to get an idea when I will get one. I also still haven't yet heard from anyone at hattrick regarding my inability to get into the site with my password and username. I emailed the USA guy, which is this GM-George you guys are talking about apparently. Hopefully I will hear from someone in the very near future. Chief Rum

Gotta get them into shape with a training table of nothing but the finest Krispy Kreams and milk. They should be the heaviest team in the league.
Oh, wait, this isn't American football...

Chief, I've had the same thing happen to me on occasion. What seems to work for me is to make sure I'm at the "USA" page before trying to log in. (Note: I applied for a team in the "USA", if you applied for a team in another league would probably want to use that page.)

This wouldn't surprise me at all. Presently we're at 2,543 teams in the U.S., and there's only room for 2,728. To give you guys an idea of how quickly this thing is growing, I've been keeping a rough track of the number of teams in the U.S. 9/20/02 - 1,601 11/4/02 - 1,801 12/10/02 - 2,135 1/4/03 - 2,206 1/26/03 - 2,326 2/22/03 - 2,543 At the rate the U.S. league is growing, we could feasibly run out of openings by the end of March.

Well, GM George fixed my log in. Yay!
Now, I'm back to just waiting for a team. If Jeeber's wait is any indication, I should get a team late tomorrow or sometime Monday. But then, when I first joined (yesterday), there were 42 teams ahead of me on the waiting list. Now there are just 14. So, maybe I will be in by midday tomorrow at this rate. Chief Rum

This is just my opinion* so, y'know, grain of salt and all that, but I'd consider selling the kid to pad the bottomline. I've always had more luck with forwards with both scoring and passing than one with just scoring (ie, inadequate/passable versus passable scoring). I haven't had too much luck with good rating scoring forwards who doesn't have the passing to back it up. Mileage varying and all that. *I'd, umm, solicit opinions from the more clued folks here before taking any of my advice with any seriousness. Heh. |

dola here, but my other scorers are not that much better, and both are getting to be pretty old at 28, actually my best scorer is now the third best after losing a rating after a nasty injury

Wow. How bad was the injury?
Hrm. Weak isn't too bad, especially given his age. If you want to keep him and use him long term, I'd strongly consider training in passing for a bit. At Weak, he'd only be two spots away from passable there. |

Both Jerome Bettis and Dave Sumner, my solid scorers, are weak passers.
Jerome led V.92 in scoring last season, and Sumner is my leading scorer this season.

Voila. Differing opinion. None of my scorers are solid and I only play my wingers on offensive, so I don't know if that means anything. If I had a solid scorer on hand, maybe my opinion would be different. I mean, I probably wouldn't pass up a solid scorer/weak passer in favour of a inadequate passer/passable passer. Of course, too each his own. |

Bettis led the v.92 in scoring last year as a passable scorer. Passing may be somewhat important for mids, but I have my doubts as to the importance for my forwards.

Damn, I'm really starting to like this game. Took over a last place team, and I'm actually winning (though I'll probably lose now). But dammit I can't stop spending $$$ on transfers.

My team just failed to show up offensively against the 6th place team in my league, I ecked out a 1-0 win. My defense was incredible though:
Right Side Defence: excellent Central Defence: formidable Left Side Defence: excellent pretty impressive I thought, although as usuall, my offense sucked so bad I wont even post it.

Redeemed myself from the 11-1 shellacking with a 10-0 shutout.
Trevor Penn somehow scores a clean sheet.

I banged out a 4-1 away win in my 1st league game. Problem is, my guy who scored 2 goals this game (named Garfield Hooker) got red carded in the 52nd. Best I could do was passable with my center D.
Overall I'm happy though, I kicked some ass, and moved from last to sixth. So far I'm 2-0 outscoring 8-3. |

I won 5-0 against my league's worst team. However, I am more excited that one of my players, Hector Li, recorded his first career hat trick and my left and central defense were rated "formidable," while my right defense was rated "solid." These were my first two "formidable" ratings, so although I'm $250,000 in debt, I have a reason to be proud.
Incidentally, how deep do you have to be in debt before Hattrick takes your team away from you? Obviously I'm not taking on payroll or anything and I'm doing my best to trim costs but should I be worried my team might be taken away from me?

Damn this game. I just had my starting keeper get hurt for three weeks. Now I must decide if I want to spend 150,000 on a keeper to play until he is back.

Pretty sure its 500,000. Then you get a stern warning or something. You pretty much have to sell off al your players.

if you get to ($500,000), you have 5 logins to fix it, THEN they take it from you.

I just got a team, and the first thing i did was make a little bitty mistake...The guy listed as my backup keeper was Wretched in Keeper so i decided to put him on the market...his value was $29,000 so i asked for $20,000....Now after reading up on the game some more These are his ratings:
Stamina: Wretched Keeper: Wretched Playmaking: Poor Passing: Inadequate Winger: Inadequate Defending: Wretched Scoring: Inadquate Set Pieces: Poor From the looks of his ratings he should be playing forward but I listed him on the transfer wire as a Keeper, is there anyway to change this? Can i take him off of the transfer wire? Is $20,000 asking way to much for this guy, to low? If one of you would like to pick him up...his name is Xavi Matas, 25 years. |

Don't worry too much about it. Most usually search by ratings & completely ignore the position they're listed under.
I'm guessing he probably won't get any bids, as he's too old to train, and only useful as a stopgap starter. If he does get bids, you can always outbid that team & buy him back. In this case, all you'd pay is the agent fees (3% of the buying cost, I think). Good luck!

Muah. 8-0 PIC (play it cool), with a formidable/excellent/solid attack line. Still pissed Ardent beat me out on goals scored though. We had a great competition going.
FEAR ME! Next week we MOTS the #1 team in the series. I almost feel bad for him, as he's a real nice guy, and is in a big race to the finish with the 2nd place team. I get the role of the spoiler. |

We certainly did. To be honest, it wasn't until I was doing my write up that I noticed Bettis got in a last second shot!

I just got my team!
I am the Stonecutters in USA.IV (I think I have that right). Is that good? Anyway, I can't seem to be able to tell what position anyone is. And I welcome any suggestions for what I should familiarize myself with first. I look forward to my first match (the time of which I also don't know but hope to discover soon). Chief Rum
