Chico hurler Pablo Zavala was at his best as he whitewashed the Hartford Harpooners 2-0 today.

"He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said the Hartford manager. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit."

Looking at his season stats, Zavala has won 9 and lost 3, collecting 99 strikeouts and 43 walks in 132.2 innings with a 3.53 ERA.

Morales has made 17 starts, tossed 104.1 innings, struck out 73 batters and walked 58. His record is 9-4 with a 4.14 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .270 batting average.

I'm glad that Morales is having a solid year for me. Also Zavala having another all-star season is a great sign for our batting practice sta...I mean pitching staff.

Friday, August 1st, 2036: Sensational Month for CL Rookie

Wednesday, August 13th, 2036: Browne Records Win #250
His goal at twenty was to win twenty games one year, pitch until he was thirty, win the league pennant and to make some money. Well, Kieran Browne did something even better -- the 37-year-old Edmonton Edge star has now won 250 games in his career. That put him in a very select group of pitchers.

He joined that exclusive club today at Edge Ballpark by whipping the Tokyo Cyclones 6-3, holding them to 6 hits in 8 innings while chalking up 6 strikeouts and 2 walks.

In the postgame interview, the modest Browne said, "It's special to win 250 games. You don't do it by yourself. You do it with good stuff and a good bullpen. You are only as good as the guys behind you. Years from now I might look back on it and give myself a little pat on the back."

Lifetime Browne has 250 victories and 199 defeats with a 3.70 ERA.

Monday, September 1st, 2036: Hensley CL's #1 Pitcher in August

That Chico lineup is just downright scary. They have scored 50 more runs than the #2 team in all of FOOL.

Monday, September 1st, 2036: Hammersmith Rookie Top Vote-Getter in RL
Yes, Vicente Betancourt is just a rookie. But he is a special rookie. Today the 24-year-old Hammersmith starter was awarded the Republic League Rookie of the Month trophy for his standout performance in August.

Not bad for a first-year man.

In 2036 Betancourt has fashioned a 19-5 mark, 3.18 ERA and pitched 235 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .225 against him and he has logged 249 strikeouts.

Monday, September 1st, 2036: Top Rookie of the Month Named by CL

Friday, September 5th, 2036: Hammersmith's Carey Hammers #300
"I wasn't trying to hit a homer. I just wanted to make contact."
That's what Travis Carey told reporters after he made baseball history today at Ballpark of Hammersmith. The prolific slugger belted home run #300 in the Hammersmith Hooligans 15-10 victory over the Ann Arbor Winged Lingerines.

The standout catcher collected 2 hits in 6 at-bats with 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.

"I guess this puts me in baseball's elite," said Carey. "I don't feel any different. I probably should, but I don't. Still, it is a nice achievement. I did get a little excited, didn't I?"

Carey has a lifetime .234 batting average and .316 on-base percentage in his 1986-game career with 1705 hits and 300 home runs.

Well im out of it again.

On a side note, (I like playing I wonder) I wonder what might have happened if Eddie got LEMIEUX instead of Napa.

I'm kind of confused as to how we've arrive to the point that we're at all of a sudden.

I'm going for Colorado once again no matter what happens this year.

Looks like over in the RL that neither Hammersmith or Colorado want the playoff spot going 5-5 and 2-8 out of their last ten.

Still a blast of a season!!!! Looking forward to the finish!!

Well I think the Village Idiot is actually a fairly smart guy and he figured Lemieux to be worth roughly an extra 10 wins. So I would say it would have made for a darn close 3 team race for the final playoff spot with Edmonton way out in front.. Almost like what he predicted!!

Oh no doubt I wouldn't be in the top two. I'm only skating by on pitching right now. And luck with that RF kid that seems to be holding up.
