That horrendous mistake aside, this was a very good first half by the US. I don´t see much need to adjust things all that much to be honest, should try playing on that way and then bring in some frest legs at the 65-70 mark. What are the options for the attacking wingers (Zusi and Bedoya) ? Those 2 seem like the "weak link" in the attacking third, Bradley, Dempsey and (surprisingly) Jones looked really good in the center.

It's a bit ironic, we look poor in the first game and win, we look much better this game and are behind. I would be very happy with a draw in this game.

Portugal looked unusually nervous, despite their lucky 1-0 lead.

Less the horrible clearance, the US had ops and controlled possession.

A draw and we likely don't advance, though, right?

Actually, we have a decent chance of advancing with a draw.. that means a draw against germany will be enough to advance, and even with a loss we advance, unless Ghana-Portugal winner beats our goal differential (rooting for Portugal)

Precise finishing on the attack ops is key here in the 2nd, for the US.

No, if we draw, then Ghana or Portugal have to win. It comes to GD at that point, provided we lose to Germany. We have 2 goals on Ghana and 5 on Portugal.

not at all. A draw puts the US at 4 points like Germany and both Portugal and Ghana at 1. Means a draw against Germany puts you through regardless, a draw between Ghana/Portugal as well even with a loss. Even a narrow Portugal win would work without need to get anything from the GER game with their bad goal difference.

Landon just doesnt look like a guy with a future in broadcasting.

Plus knowing he'd be the feature guy up front in this game probably doesn't make him feel better

Cue the conspiracy theories if the US ends up getting a tie in this game. They started playing the final games at the same time to eliminate gaming the system. But if the US and Germany agree to tie, they both advance.

Alright US, take advantage of ops given.
Go out there and do it for the fans.

Oh and backline, quit mucking around, stay composed and organized.

hummm
Germany has a past history on this (74, 82), and US has a german coach...
still dont see it happening on purpose, but maybe Im naive,

but if US can hold german the entre 1st half they might settle for a draw... but they need to fear some US counter attack

The 2 goals on Ghana basically means the USA is out if Ghana wins. But that scenario shouldn't happen, as this is soccer: Germany and the USA will draw 0-0 and both advance.

Seriously? Is our defense just really stupid? I remember in grade school the whole thing about clearing to the sides not in the middle if you're in the box.
