Better. Thanks, guys. Was freaked out enough about the tie that I didn't realize I had fifteen votes for fourteen people.

I just got back from dinner with the family, and am exhausted. Our daughter is sick as a dog, and my wife had a rough day so I'm going to have to be the "attentive servant" tonight.
I don't know when I'll be able to count the votes and do the write-up, but probably won't be for another hour at least. I'll definitely do it before I go to bed though. Sorry guys.

You all surround JeeberD, making the conclusion of today's debate clear. Everyone is clearly impatient and fed up - this will be quick regardless of Jeeber's feelings on the matter.
"Not so fast boys. I think you're all forgetting something VERY important -I AM YOUR ONLY WAY OUT OF HERE!!!!!! I flew your asses into this shit, and I'm the only one that will be able to get you the hell out. I think that should earn me more than a little respect. If you want to leave this fucking hole, you'll test one of those actual monsters. I've thought about this, and I am positive that dubb has nothing but evil intentions. I believe he's a Thing." Dubb just smiles disappointedly, shakes his head, and walks to the table. He draws his own blood, burns it, looks at JeeberD and says "Fuck you. I give up.", and walks out of the room. No one knows where dubb went, but everyone is sure he's NOT a Thing. Night actions due by 12 Noon EST tomorrow. The day vote will be due by 10 PM EST.

Schmidty, can you tell us if converted things keep their powers?

I'm not sure that Jeebs is the Duke. If Dubb is out of the game, then perhaps Schmidty threw that curve ball in to account for his absence. If Jeebs is the Duke why wouldn't he have used it on Day 1 when he was due to be tested? I understand that the mechanics of the game are a little different here with tested not meaning dead, but ...
Jeeber can certainly clear this up for us when he checks into the thread, if he is so inclined. Schmidty, are we now playing with 13 people since Dubb walked out? Or do we still have 14 people? |

Ok here's what I've decided I think about the rules.
1. Converted things cannot keep their powers. Would just be too unbalancing, I feel. I still feel, despite early successes, that the odds are stacked against us. The lack of discussion yesterday says to me that I'm not the only one. 2. Converted scientists might acquire new powers. I know that I had this mechanic in a game of mine so Schmidty might have it here. So the question for me is would Schmidty give the Duke power to somebody who became a converted bad guy? I haven't reached a firm conclusion for myself, but am leaning towards no. |

Dammit! I was so certain that dubb was a Thing...

There was no reason for me to change the vote the first day. If I got tested I wasn't going to die and getting tested would clear me for at least a little bit. Plus, there was little for me to go on in regards who to switch to, I would have just been guessing blindly. Not that I did any better with more info...

Because I knew testing me again was going to be a useless test. I wanted to either catch a Thing or clear someone else since I already know that I'm clean.
I haven't really been certain enough any of the other nights to use it, either. Though I came close on the CW vote...

Not sure if Schmidty will allow it but as I will be gone until after lynch most likely, unless my little league team is rained out, I have tried to submit a vote via PM to him. Not sure if he'll allow it, but it can't hurt to try.

Jeebs, thanks for clearing that up. I had wondered if Schmidty was trying to clean up Dubb's role after mentioning yesterday that he might give one side an extra power (can look up the post # if other people don't recall this).
OK, so I suppose the question remains if the Duke kept his Duke power after being converted. Looks like Barkeep thinks no, and I'm inclined to agree that the Duke power would be a really, really nasty power for the Things to possess. It simplifies our thought process to disregard this, although I'm not positive this is the right way to proceed based on Schmidty's answer in Post #1575. |

I feel like this game is getting too mucked up, and people are getting frustrated and board. I'm wondering if I should just call it.
What do you guys think?

Well, I've already lost dubb, and there just seemed to be a decline in activity every day lately. I'll keep going as long as you guys want me to. I'm having fun too.
The night actions that I recieved are in, and Day 5 is underway.

Schmidty, are you having fun running the game?
I agree it has had a weird ebb-and-flow to it in terms of in-thread activity, but I don't have any problem with a game being a little non-conventional. Up to this point, I think the game has been pretty balanced, with the scientists getting off to a good start but the Things now staging a comeback. The biggest challenge with this game is that it is going to end up being a very long game with no scientist deaths (already a fairly long game, given that we started with 16 players). If we have day cycles running more than 24 hours that further extends the span of the game. I've been compiling a list of post-game questions/comments, but I don't want to get into that prematurely here. |
