CR, I could probably pop the lock on it for you if you are able to pick it up and pass it but not sure if we're allowed to do that.

I guess I need to check this board even during the "weekends off."
I finally had my first encounter [in my fourth room] and fought a flying, animated mace. Finally Level 2. Yipee. |

Danny, that was a good question regarding games that play like this. This has been really fun although I wonder how much of that is the other player aspect as well. I loved the old, old shareware game Moraff's Revenge, similar but solo.

I loved Angband, BG2, and D&D (never played it that seriously, but read through the books a decent bit), so that could be why I'm having a good time, but I'm impressed with how Abe has put it all together...and yes, the player interaction has been awesome.
Meanwhile, something doesn't seem right with the mapping comments from two players: PackerFanatic: "I started in a room with a mauve star dusting with pixie dust. There was a gong in there (Thom was there yesterday) I then moved forward (other options were left and right) into the room with the Altar of Sacrifice, where Thomkal is now. Only exits were forward and right. I moved right and am in a room that looks like a natural cave. DT is with me here. Exits to all side" DT: "Beginning room: onyx star on floor, tapestries on wall (can look behind but nothing there. exits forward and right I moved forward. Next room. Annis (magical evil creature that i killed) and magical brazier. exits right, left, backward. I moved right. I ended up in the dried out cavey room (no magic, no nothing) with PF and now Thomkal. Exits in all directions)" They both with forward one then right one and somehow ended up in the same room yet didn't start in the same room. |

And Chief, I was planning on searching the rtoom, anyway which allows the use of Detect Evil. So we will see what happens there. if not then then perhaps after our move on Monday.

If you could also point out to Abe that I have the magic bracers, which would show up if cursed (I believe), I would appreciate it. He seems pretty good at only giving us what we specifically ask for and not what should be obvious but isn't specifically stated. I will Investigate the chest. P.S. To any bards, my offer still stands to send you these bracers and 10 gold for ID. I would prefer it be done today, because I can get it back as soon as the night action is ever and equip them before the next movement phase if you do.

Oh well. I am going to send the bracers to Thomkal anyway. Will you still search the room? I chose Luck as my second first rank spell, which means I always have an increased chance of finding things on searches. So eventually I will search the room today, although I am going to focus on the chest, since that is obviously the key thing we know of for this room right now.

Unless the description of a chest or other item in a room specifically says that it can be taken as an item, it cannot be taken as an item.

Chief Rum, you have found Bracers of Minor Defense. You cannot wear any armor when wearing them, but then they act like you have leather armor on. Best of all perhaps they don't count as armor when it comes to encumberance. Worth 250 gold.

Checking in. I should be on until about midnight EST if anyone needs some IDing done.
My daughter's school is closed tomorrow for President's Day. I'll be taking care of her, so getting online at all will be mostly luck. If Abe will indulge me, I'd like to preemptively order the return of PB's belt. I can't actually return it until tomorrow. Interesting. Can wizards wear them? Or does it tell you that? Abe, can normally armorless character classes wear these bracers? If so, these bracers could be of use to them, and I would be quite willing to sell them for anywhere between 125 and 250 gold for an interested party. As for myself, I am better off with my natural chain mail (and I can go get better) than going without armor, but magical bracers that act like leather armor. Thanks Thomkal! P.S. I still have a Garrotte, if anyone is interested. I don't know if all of our Scouts have them yet.

All right, got my afternoon results. They were interesting.
I got to the big chest before ntn did, and triggered a crossbow bolt trap. Hit me pretty hard. But I didn't get nothing out of it. A pile of gold, a magic ring and magic studded leather. Like the bracers, the leather really does nothing for me, so that will go to the highest bidder. I would like to send the ring and studded leather off to be id'd, of course. I know Poli can id. Poli, you willing for 10 gp? And should I send the ring or the armor? Not sure if you already have other people's armor. chesapeake, were you another? Same offer as Poli.

And the bracers are officially for sale for (at least) 125 gold. I would ideally like to sell them for more. I can get 125 gold from the bazaar. The point is for interested parties to beat 125 gold, so they don't have to pay the Djinn 250 gold.
My guess is this item is of most use to wizards and artificers. I don't think anyone else has lower than leather armor. I suppose if a scout wants to be able to hold onto more than one extra armor, this could be of use to him.

I'm around if you want to send them over now.
I have the armor spell which is the equivalent of chain, so I'll pass on the bracers. |
