I have a potentially fun google fu task I've been coming up empty on. This is a still from a commercial I'm told is a Hepatitis commercial. The guy is a dead ringer for a buddy and we've been all over him about it, but none of us can find the actual commercial clip. If the collective FOFC powers can find it, you'll have my eternal thanks and wishes of good will and whatever else I can offer...

Edit: The commercial supposedly aired (at least) in Austin, TX.

I just had someone refer to an ice cream cake they got as white and chocolate.

"Vanilla"? I asked.

"I guess so", they replied.

I'm at a loss as how to continue the conversation.

That commercial for the Chevy Traverse bugs me for a huge continuity error. The one lady sees her whole family inside, and acts surprised. They show some other families, then cut back to her, and the mom is magically in the car where she wasn't before, and the lady acts surprised again. What, was the mom hiding in the cargo area and climbed up to that seat once everyone else got out of the car?

You will get absolutely no argument from me on the worst fucking set of commercials on TV, but I believe that’s a bus lane onto the carpool connector to 110. So at best they delayed a bunch of crazy people on an LA bus for a few hours.

Still, fuck those adverts though. Seriously.

This is why some PR people take jobs on behalf of horrible people. I do give him credit for writing the letters though. Now is not the time to make the TV interview circuit.

I'm pretty sure that I had only forgotten that "Shock The Monkey" was covered by Coal Chamber + Ozzy.

I'm pretty sure that I never realized the song was also covered by Don Ho.

Random legal question about restraining orders that I'm asking for a friend.

Let's say a girl goes to a party. An ex boyfriend she has a legal restraining order against also shows up. This party is hosted by a mutual friend. Does the ex boyfriend automatically have to leave? Does it matter who showed up first? What happens if they encounter each other at the grocery store?

Okay I'm not asking for a friend. But I heard a couple people gossiping about this at work and the questions popped into my head.

Best I can tell, the rules vary pretty widely by state. Some states have as many as five different types of restraining orders, each with their own rules.

Fun times.

Accepted an offer on the house last monday. Great price. Home inspection occured on Wednesday...waiting, waiting, waiting wai...ting.

Finally their lawyer sends a letter at like 5pm this evening to my lawyer, asking for an extension on the inspection deadling, because apparently they didn't receive the report until the weekend, and needed to review it.

Probably just paranoia, but I'm terrified he's going to come back with this absurd laundry list.

I've about had it with new age packaging. Top and bottom flaps, that's good enough. Now we got these effing 4, and god forbid, 6 sided boxes where ya got tear all 4 corners just to break it the hell down. It aggravates me.

Hangnails are never fun, but they're so much worse when they're on your wiping hand.

Can you still buy those 80's style big ass satellite dishes? Do they do anything modern cable/satellite services don't? Are they legal?

Nicole Aniston has had quite an impressive and interesting career arc for a porn star.

I bought myself two actual adult magazines for Christmas, just because I thought it would be nice to have something physical to leaf through in certain instances. The last time I bought one was probably 15 years ago and it shocked me how little they'd changed, right down to the phone sex ads and deals for videos. The entire ad section seemed to be stuck in a time loop where it's still 1990.

So I run across a friend who is getting things together for his daughters 7th birthday party and she wanted cupcakes instead of a regular birthday cake.

Alright.

He tells me hes on the way to pick them up and that he ordered 30 for the party. Says there will be 20-25 kids there, ok.

Then he tells me how much he paid for them.

$125

FOR
CUP
CAKES

I don't have kids and everyone on this board is 'getting old' but perhaps Im more out of touch with things than ever before.

Yep, they are still available and still legal. Those dishes were for receiving C Band transmissions, while DirecTV and dish use Ku, which needs a much smaller dish. The thing that would probably set you back would be the digital receiver, but tbh I haven't looked at them in a while and no clue on the cost.

These sites have listings for broadcasts on C Band.

My wife and I have been rewatching Star Trek: TNG all way from start to finish. We are currently in the first half of Season 5. While the show is excellent I do have a gripe - everyone that the Enterprise encounters from Starfleet or the Federation kind of sucks. The characters from these organizations that we see outside of the Enterprise crew are petty, scheming and manipulative. They never seem to embody the ideals that we are supposed to believe these organizations and humanity are based on in the 24th century. I realize it is purely for dramatic reasons but it seems to be an oversight that we rarely see non-Enterprise members of these organizations that have redeeming qualities. It is to the point where when I see someone from Starfleet or the Federation I just automatically assume they are the villain of the episode.

Agreed. A very valid complaint. The only exception that comes to mind is when Ronny Cox takes over as captain of the Enterprise while Picard is off on that mission against the Cardassians. Cox’s character is a bit of a hard ass and asshole, but he’s not wrong and ends up being really competent. I remember that because it was such a departure from every other non-Enterprise Star Fleet person.
