Robber hits Pittsburgh hotel room of Cincinnati Reds pitcher - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

@craigcalcaterra Can you imagine what it's like to be Chapman then? You get back to your room and the woman you bound and left there is gone

1st, he didn't even bring her to the game? There were only about 30 thousand available seats.

2nd, never refuse when the criminal is asking for material items. She's lucky all they did was tie her up.

3rd, he was there to fix the sink? Who lets a maintenance worker into their hotel room to fix the sink if they didn't report a problem with the sink?

2 and 3 lead to...

4th, what was this woman's relationship with him? It sounds like a setup to me. She stays behind to allow the others into the room, gets 'tied up' and the other person takes off with the items.

5th, police don't belive the man was actually a maintenance worker from the hotel. Really?!?!? Sorry, that seems to me like it would be a given.

If he had been shot, I think we would have been looking at an obvious 2025 motion picture - The Natural II: El Naturale. Cuban kid defects, throws 105 MPH, is set up by a woman and shot, goes away for a decade, comes back, throws 105 again, wins World Series. Although it would be hard for a pitcher in the world series to have something bloody since Schilling's kinda cornered the market on that imagery. But anyway...

He would have to come back as an outfielder. Hit a bunch of long bombs. Get accused of taking PEDs. Tested and banned for life. Even though the sample was left in a car overnight.

Has Homer Bailey finally become a reliable starter? He probably won't ever be an ace, but aside from a couple of bad outings he's been a solid 3 or 4 starter this year.

Shutting down the 2012 pirates lineup is probably pretty similar to stopping the '27 yankees. After all, those guys are probably 110 years old by now.

So, I wouldn't base anything on shutting down the pirates.

Break up the Cubs, after losing 12 straight, they are on a win streak of 3.
Maybe the mgr. of the Cubs made them watch "Major League".

It isn't just the Pirates. He's pitched well twice against the Braves and once against the Yankees and Giants. Since mid-April he's been very good with the exception of a blowout against the Brewers.

Since the 8th inning of last night's game, we've replaced the Texas Rangers with a Pony League squad. Let's see if anyone notices the difference.

They've been flatter than a week old 7-UP tonight.

Speaking of changes needing to be made in the way MLB polices/disciplines umpires... this is what you get when you let the assholes run the show:

I'm confused on how I feel about this. It shows a complete lack of class by the umpire, but is also completely awesome in its pettiness.

Seriously. Robot umps now. The douchebag umpire list, full of people who think fans are there to see them perform:

- Joe West (epic, no 1)
- CB Bucknor (incompetence)
- Bill Hohn (just listening to friends who are Braves fans)
- Phil Cuzzi (incompetent ass)
- Angel Hernandez
- Balking Bob Davidson

I'd almost guarantee from what I've read, he'll be an OF real soon. The Reds infield is pretty set, and they need a leadoff hitter something awful.

Hopefully he can hit. His 1.072 OPS in April was promising. His .651 in May is distressing.

Hopefully he isn't just a faster, yet weaker at the plate, Stubbs. Still young, though.

The talk amongst the scouting guys I read is that is his logical destination. The guy would be the fastest player in baseball, and he isn't some Joey Gathwright type who can't hit; Hamilton can "generate" slgg % by his sheer speed.

Dola, I assume the Reds fans here have read this? That first stat is amazing; he's a .364 hitter on groundballs? Holy sheet.

Baseball Prospectus | BP Unfiltered: Billy Hamilton is Very Fast

Quote:
1) Billy Hamilton has reached on eight infield singles. He has been thrown out by infielders 14 times. When Billy Hamilton hits the ball on the ground to an infielder, and the infielder fields the ball cleanly, Billy Hamilton is hitting .364.*

2) Billy Hamilton has scored from third when the catcher threw to first to complete another batter's strikeout.

3) And Billy Hamilton scored the walk-off run on April 20 on a sacrific fly. To the second baseman.

He makes an error every 3 games at short. Your wish will be granted soon. Also, his speed is overrated. Dan Uggla scored from first last night on a 175 foot pop up.

Jeff Samardzija went 26th overall. Some prospect named Jurrickson Profar went 24th. I know this was the type of thing where people just ruminate on the future, but i thought those picks were especially funny.

Profar went very high in our keeper draft this year (we hold three minor leaguers). He is very young and 24th is probably a bit high, but the experts expect him to be an excellent major league shortstop.

This is a league where I drafted Harper while he was still in high school.

ESPN shows it in their highlight. Consensus is that it hit the chalk and was a blown call. But if you saw it fast, you can see how he possibly missed it especially on the fly.

I appreciate that the out of shape ump can blow a call 6 feet in front of him and still act like he was correct.

Yes, it was a blown call. But it was against the Cards -- still beats the hell out of legitimately no-hitting the Twins. Congrats to Johan! I sincerely hope he doesn't sustain any injuries this year or the pitch count nazis will go bonkers.

Jon Heyman called the Mets' lack-of-no-hitter streak "more amazing than DiMaggio, not even close." That might be the single dumbest thing I've ever read. And reading Twitter, the competition is fierce.

With instant replay, Armando Galarraga would've gotten his perfect game and the Mets would still be no-hitterless. So it goes, though.
