Since this is the third time, I think we can begin to say that Tyson actually pulled a Suarez instead of the other way around

I'm a Liverpool supporter and now even I am hoping that the Suarez to Barca rumours are true. As immense a talent as Suarez is, biting someone is despicable. Doing it three times is...well I don't know what it is. I hope Liverpool cash in while they can.

Not surprising. He took a huge gamble going all-in for the draw and removing Balotelli and Immobile.

Wow, Greece has already had to make two subs in the first 25 minutes, one of them just now being their goalie.

With the Greeks injuries, at this pace they won't be able to finish the game.

It's OK. They can always appeal to Germany for more subs.

Greece takes the lead after an interception deep in Ivory Coast's half.

Oof. What a lazy giveaway. Nice 1-2 by the Greeks to take advantage though.

Now we can get back to seeing Greece put 9 behind the ball - it was odd seeing them actually attacking!

It would be weird if Ivory Coast goes 0 for 3, despite all the hype for nearly a decade.

That Japanese goal makes the 2nd halves real interesting. Colombia's through, but all 3 other teams are a goal away from the qualifying line.

Currently

Greece 4pts -2 GD (winning 1-0)
Ivory Coast 3pts -1 GD (Down 1-0)
Japan 2pts -1 GD (Tied 1-1)

21 of the 22 players in the match are going to spend the entire 2nd half within 30 yards of the Greek goal.

Well... not anymore!

Cote d'Ivoire's goalie does look shaky though, and they're on 3 yellows already.

YAY Ivory Coast! If we can keep Greece and their defensive brand of football out of the 16 that would be nice.

Ahhhhhh...I like Greece.

And I'd rather see a technically proficient defensive nation in than, say, floppers, biters, or foulers.

Wow…what a change. Greece scores 2 goals in the entire group stage and still advance. Ivory Coast shouldn't have parked the bus.

Edit: Now that's a stomach punch!

Sio caught Samaras beforehand, which made him kick the ground. Definite penalty.

I can't see FIFA handing out a lifetime ban, or even a long ban from all competitive games. If there is a long ban, I would expect it to be from International games only.

Do FIFA want to pick a fight with club teams? If their $100 million asset becomes worthless because of his actions in an international game, will Liverpool allow their players to play for their country in the future?

His last ban for biting was 10 domestic games. Ban him for 15 or 20 international ones if you find him responsible.

Cruel penalty.

Greece was the better team today, but a lame way for Ivory Coast to get knocked out.

And a very disappointing Japan against Colombia 2. A dangerous counter attack they have, Colombia 2.

So this guarantees that a South American team will make the semifinals. Brazil, Chile, Columbia, and Uruguay all in the same side of the bracket.

The angle from behind showed it clearly. Lazy defending by the Ivorians.

So... Brazil/Chile, Colombia/Uruguay, Netherlands/Mexico... and Costa Rica/Greece. One of these matchups I will not be looking forward to as much as the others haha

Yeah, he hit the Ivory Coast player with his foot on the backswing. I guess the call was that the Ivory Coast player interfered with his kick.

Right. But it also guarantees that two won be from S America eiyher, despite how dominant they've been, we can;t have more than 2 in the Semis.

Three is technically still possible, but it is unlikely, yes. It either requires Ecuador to pass France, or Nigeria to pass Argentina.

It would not surprise me if he gets a one year international suspension.

I don't think Uruguay have a significant game after the World Cup until the Copa America next summer.

EDIT - Now that I think about it, it would be more sensible to ban a player for a specific number of competitive games rather than a specific length of time. That will mean that every game he misses will be meaningful.
