It's a very good game that could have been great with a patch or two.

I just picked this up, although I did the complete pack with all the DLC.

My only complaint so far is that ranged attacks sometimes fire off to the right of where I want them to go. I've had this happen with bows and magic.

Has anyone taken Steam's hardware survey? I just got a pop-up asking me to take one.

Anyways here are the results to see how your PC compares to the rest of the Steam Universe.

I've played 1 and 2 and while they are intriguing for a while they have a very short shelf life for me.

Interesting data. Although I think "achievements" misses out on the way that many players may choose to play the game, the stats about what % actually play are certainly valid.

Take FM for example. Not everyone plays the game to be a Champion - you get some lower league managers who may never get there.

Still - interesting data.

Exactly, I have never come close to a major title as the only careers I tend to really get into are in the lower leagues.

Has anyone tried "The Golf Club"? I was not expecting much, but the reviews seem to be pretty good considering that this is an early access game.

Interesting. I like the idea of procedurally generated random courses if they can execute that properly.

I purchased. The first week despite having a brand-new high end gaming laptop the graphics would stutter on all but the lowest setting. I was disappointed...

Then I tried it out yesterday after the latest patch 0.21 and was very pleased. The game still needs some refining but it is very playable now on my machine and I am enjoying it. I fiddled with making a course last week and it is very easy to work with but making something very specific or recreating real world courses will take some time to work out. I am sure someone out there will be able to take the time to do that but I will just have to make fictional courses for my self now.

I have never purchased an early release game but after my initial disappointment last week they have tweaked/optimized graphics which was my primary complaint. I am please at this point and will report back after I spend some more time with it.

I also purchased it and it runs like a dog. There's a lot of good there, but they have got to work on the optimization before I can offer any kind of fair assessment.

I saw your posts over on the Steam forums, so I think I will wait until I hear that the game is running better for you. I have a higher spec PC, but I also have an AMD graphics card, and it looks like the game is not running well on those cards.

I think this one has a way better story though. Dudebro was just so derivative.

Broforce just looks like pure fun.

Prison Architect is only $10.19 right now.

Incredible game and still in Alpha. I paid three times this and it has been worth every penny.

What makes it incredible? I have been on the fence on this game all along. The videos just don't entice me enough, so what is it that makes it great?

It's basically SimCity but a prison. One of those time sinks that makes the hours go by. I just love the idea of building something, and then testing its limits to see what I can do with it before it breaks.

It is well thought-out, you can install video cameras, they've added guard dogs and firearms. You can search for contraband (which pisses most of the prison population off). Prisoners can escape if you leave an unlocked door unguarded or will tunnel out using items stolen from the kitchen.

The further along it gets in production the deeper it gets. It's going to be an outstanding title when it finally finishes, but I've already had close to 80 hours of fun with it.

When I tried it many moons ago, I was less than impressed. Just feeding the prisoners was difficult because the AI didn't know how to do anything. You could build entertainment for the prisoners, but they wouldn't use it. I'm assuming it's in much better shape now, but just the constant noise of the prisoners clanking on the bars is enough for me to not want to buy the game. It's probably the most annoying sound I've heard in a game since:

Endless Legend is on Steam for early access.. game really looks awesome. These are the same folks who created Endless Space, but EL looks to be more of a Civ type 4x game.

Well I'm going to give PA a shot. If it manages to pull me away from FM14 for a bit it'll be a success. I'll keep you posted.

There was one that really ticked me off and I finally got steam credit for it. I'm sure I've wasted plenty of money on fully released games as well.

The makers of Endless Legend already have a finished game in Endless Space, so I'm not too worried about it.

The game is quite playable in Alpha as I purchased tonight and have been playing most of the night. The learning curve with their games is quite deep, so I figured I'd get a head start.

I got bit in the butt by Castle Story and Prison Architect. The Golf Club is still up in the air but shows signs of biting me in the butt.

I really don't get the point of buying unfinished games when there's so many quality games out there that cost less.

Even if the game turns out great, playing an unfinished version seems like a good way to either sour yourself or grow tired of the experience by the time the game ever gets there.

I've purchased a few early access games. Some I have because I was a Kickstarter backer others I just sort of stumbled across and looked interesting to me so I bought it.

Despite having 3-4 such games, I haven't played any of them yet for this exact reason. I don't want to get annoyed or burnt out on a half-finished unpolished project. I've been waiting for "Dead State" for about four years now, I have the early access loaded, but won't play it until it's done.

Though only early access game I ever played was "Mount & Blade." I bought it for $10. I played the hell out of it for a while. I definitely got my money's worth. By the time the game was complete, however, I was done with it. I never saw the finished product.

If anything, I treat the early access games like a pre-order. I paid for it, but let me know when the game is actually out.

My biggest problem with early access is the often inflated price. Why would I pay 39.99 for a game that isn't finished and will be 19.99 or less at or shortly after release(if it ever is released)?

My biggest problem with early access is the often inflated price. Why would I pay 39.99 for a game that isn't finished and will be 19.99 or less at or shortly after release(if it ever is released)?

Actually most are usually cheaper 25% or more off the price then when it releases.

It's a risk vs reward though.. and some genres I would wait on, others like 4x games, I usually get.

EL has been surprising - the Alpha is good thus far and they still have a bunch of stuff to add - stuff that will allow me to focus on it as I'll already understand the basics of the game.

This should be a game Blackadar gets into - once it's release worthy

This game looks really interesting. I have Endless Space (but have never played it). I like some of the concepts I saw in the video for Endless Legend. The bug race he was playing really seemed pretty unique and presumably very different from other races.

This is definitely on the radar.

I don't look at a lot of them. I've just seen plenty on the front page listed for 39.99 or higher.
