I remember reading about FOF1 in Computer Gaming World in early 1999 but didn't think about that until I bought Football Mogul. I enjoyed that game but it was lacking and then I remembered the review in CGW. Unless I'm mixing up reviews, it mentioned QuikSand and his challenges.

I got here because I found TCY through IGN or GameSpy or something back in college. Hard to believe that was almost 12 years ago.

I still find it interesting that I'm one of four in the last 5 years. I knew about both football text sims for some time and finally broke down and got the pro one.

Long enough to surpass a whole lot of people in post counts (including EF27 - when the fuck did that happen?!?!?!) who I never thought I would.
Yikes. Lurked for like 2 years (after registering) before I started posting too, or you all would be in trouble!! |

I don't really visit here much anymore, but I've been here basically twice as long as forever.

After leaving Canada, I discovered the internet near Fargo. Sadly, in Canada we did't have days, months, or years like civilized people so I figure I got here around 1400 or so. No real way to know for sure though.
I got nothing.

fun trip down memory lane..... although I'm a pretty infrequent poster, this place has been a nearly daily stop for me from the beginning and as someone else mentioned has really shaped my Internet experience for many years. this is the only forum I've had this regular connection with and although none of you know me I do feel like I know many of you very well.
I have been around since the sideline days and was a proud owner of FOF1, which I begged my mom to purchase for me as an early birthday present. I remember her *calling* in the order, and as a high schooler without a credit card I was overjoyed. many many hours of enjoyment with all versions of the game and even more from lurking the forum... from a 16 year old high schooler on dial up internet to a 30 year old professional, from ice weasels to the grassy knoll discussions, it's been a great ride. It gets cold and it snows and blows a lot. It takes about 100 miles to get anywhere. It's been 16 years since I lived in ND, I'm sure it's changed quite a bit, but it holds a special place in my heart. I may make it back for my 20th this year. Unlikely, but time will tell.

I grew up there, lived there for 13 years. Fargo is colder though, actually Grand Forks is colder, lol.

It's nice seeing some of these old faces. For internet communities, this one is probably the most mature and stable one I've experienced.

I love and thrive in cold weather (compared to hot) but even I got to admit that North Dakota or Winnepeg is a bit too extreme for me.
