So Timmy Tribble took the Charlotte job, and Cannon Pace is a new coach, taking over Central Michigan, while Tim Sheppard is also new, and he is taking over at Penn St. Let's look at how they fared in recruiting this past season.
Charlotte had the 167th overall recruiting class, good for 10th in the A-10. Penn St. had the 77th overall recruiting class, good for 5th in the Big 10. Central Michigan had the 225th overall recruiting class, good for 7th in the MAC. 2014-2015 FOFC Coach Hotseat Ratings David Ginsberg (Hartford) -- Average seat, goal is to finish .500 or better in the America East. Cillian O'Reilly (Maine) -- Cool seat, goal is to play in the NCAA Tournament. Bit of a lofty goal there. Timmy Tribble (Charlotte) -- Average seat, goal is to compete for the A-10 Title. Alex Donovan (Boston College) -- Cool seat, goal is to play in the NCAA Tournament. Rob Nielsen (Colorado) -- Average seat, goal is to play in any postseason tournament. Kuji Chagulia (Louisville) -- Cool seat, goal is to reach the NCAA Sweet Sixteen. Roy Rogers (High Point) -- Average seat, goal is to play in the NCAA Tournament. Another lofty goal. Ernesto Lopez (Iowa) -- Average seat, goal is to play in any postseason tournament. Tim Sheppard (Penn St.) -- Average seat, goal is to avoid last place in the Big 10. DeShawn St. John (Cal Poly) -- Average seat, goal is to finish .500 or better in the Big West. Jeeber Mack (UTEP) -- Cool seat, goal is to compete for the Conference USA Title. Shane Korme (Wright St.) -- Average seat, goal is to play in the NCAA Tournament. Cannon Pace (Central Michigan) -- Average seat, goal is to finish with a .500 or better MAC record. Ekeje Bafou (Evansville) -- Average seat, goal is to avoid last place in the MVC. Score Galore (Bryant) -- Average seat, goal is to avoid last place in the Northeast. Thomas Carrano (Monmouth) -- Cool seat, goal is to play in the NCAA Tournament. Patrick Hutt (UCLA) -- Average seat, goal is to reach the NCAA Final Four. That will be a very lofty goal with this Bruin squad. Randolph Childress (Davidson) -- Cool seat, goal is to win the Southern Title. B.B. 2014 Season Tournaments
Boston College will be the 2nd seed in the 2014 Anaheim Invitational and will open it up against 7th seed Oregon St. Heh, go figure, 2 FOFC teams playing each other. Oregon State will be the 7th seed in the 2014 Anaheim Invitational and will open it up against 2nd seed Boston College. Louisville will be the 2nd seed in the 16 team 2014 Coaches Invitational and will open it up against 15th seed Air Force. UTEP will be the 3rd seed in the 4 team 2014 College Classic and will open up against 2nd seed Miami (FL). Hawaii will be the 9th seed in the 16 team 2014 GDS Classic and will open up against 8th seed Hofstra. Maine will be the 15th seed in the 16 team 2014 GDS Classic and will open up against 2nd seed Creighton. Charlotte will be the 2nd seed in the 2014 Island Invitational and will open up against 7th seed American. Colorado will be the 3rd seed in the 2014 Island Invitational and will open up against 6th seed Iona. Davidson will be the 3rd seed in the 4 team 2014 Legends Invitational and will open up against 2nd seed Ohio State. UCLA will be the 3rd seed in the 2014 Philadelphia Invitational and will open up against 6th seed VCU. Wright State will be the 8th seed in the 2014 Philadelphia Invitational and will open up against top seed Texas. Central Michigan will be the 16th seed in the 2014 Preseason NIT and will open up against top seed Villanova. Penn State will be the 3rd seed in the 4 team 2014 Travelers Invitational and will open up against 2nd seed Vanderbilt. 13 of our 20 teams are in a season tournament, and at least this year we have no more than 2 FOFC teams in any given tournament. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there one tournament which saw 3 of our FOFC teams in it? |

2014 Season Tournament Wrap-Up
2014 Anaheim Invitational Boston College beat (7) Oregon St. 81-61 in the First Round, then lost to (3) USC 68-65 in the winners bracket semifinals, then rallied to beat (4) George Mason 71-46 in the 3rd Place Game. Oregon State lost to (2) Boston College 81-61 in the First Round, then lost 51-37 to (6) George Washington in the Consolation Semifinals, then got hammered 86-54 by (5) LSU in the 7th Place Game. 2014 Coaches Invitational Louisville survived (15) Air Force 83-82 in the First Round, then beat (10) Siena 96-63 in the Quarterfinals. They kept it rolling by beating (6) Southern Illinois 82-62 in the Semifinals, then routed (4) Ole Miss 97-64 in the Championship, picking up right where they left off last season. 2014 College Classic UTEP beat (2) Miami (FL) 65-62 in the First Round, then lost to (1) Tennessee 67-50 in the Championship game. 2014 GDS Classic Hawaii lost 82-80 to (8) Hofstra in the First Round. Maine battled hard, but lost 82-74 to (2) Creighton in the First Round. 2014 Island Invitational Charlotte got hammered by (7) American 76-57 in the First Round, then rallied to beat (6) Iona 69-60 in the Consolation Semifinals, and beat (5) Akron in the 5th place game, 83-75. Colorado beat (6) Iona 79-64 in the First Round, then beat (7) American 82-68 in the Semifinals, then beat (1) Mississippi State 59-47 in the Championship Game, making it another season tournament victory for Rob Nielsen and the Buffaloes. 2014 Legends Invitational Davidson beat (2) Ohio State 76-64 in the First Round, then hammered (1) Maryland 80-63 in the Championship Game, making the Wildcats our 3rd FOFC coached team to win a 2014 Season Tournament. 2014 Philadelphia Invitational UCLA lost 67-64 to (6) VCU in the First Round, then recovered to hammer (2) Georgetown 70-40 in the Consolation Semifinals and beat (5) New Mexico 70-53 in the 5th place game. Wright State lost 78-65 to (1) Texas in the First Round, then lost 84-69 to (5) New Mexico in the Consolation Semifinals, and completed the trifecta of losses by losing 74-41 to (2) Georgetown in the 7th place game. 2014 Preseason NIT Central Michigan battled, but lost 76-63 to (1) Villanova in the First Round. 2014 Travelers Invitational Penn State lost 70-58 to (2) Vanderbilt in the First Round, then lost 65-54 to (4) Middle Tennessee in the 3rd place game. On the bright side, we had 3 teams win season tournaments, but we had a lot of teams that were one and dones or lost a 7th place game. Still got some work to do. |

Here's a look at how our teams have fared through Dec. 28, 2014
Hartford (David Ginsberg) -- 5-6, 0-0 America East. The Hawks had a nice win at UMass, but also have some really bad losses to William & Mary and Wagner. Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 3-8, 0-1 America East. It hasn't been a good start to the season for the Black Bears, who have lost 6 in a row, including a bad loss to Brown, and their conference opener to Stony Brook in which they were beaten by 28 points. Charlotte (Timmy Tribble) -- 7-4, 0-0 Atlantic 10. The 49ers had a 5 game winning streak including a win at Virginia Tech, but have lost their last 2 games by a combined 9 points. Boston College (Alex Donovan) -- 8-2, 0-0 ACC. The strength of schedule hasn't been great for the Eagles, and they have that home loss to Fairfield on their record. As always, ACC play will be a grind. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 10-1, 0-0 Big 12. The Buffaloes are off to a great start in their quest for postseason play, winning their first 10 games, including the Miss. St. win and a win at Villanova. They lost their last game to a good Wyoming team and look to start a new winning streak. Louisville (Kuji Chagulia) -- 10-2, 0-0 Big East. The Cardinals 2 losses were at Wisconsin and at Kentucky. Nothing to be ashamed of there, as they do have wins over Michigan St. and Illinois, as well as the Ole Miss win. High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 6-6, 1-1 Big South. The Panthers rolled off 4 in a row, including a win at Davidson and a win at Dayton. They won their conference opener before losing to Charleston Southern. Ugh! Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 7-4, 0-1 Big 10. The Hawkeyes started the season by beating Kansas and Bradley, then played Iowa St. and Northern Iowa tough in losses. They lost their conference opener to Wisconsin on a buzzer beater. Penn State (Tim Sheppard) -- 6-4, 0-0 Big 10. The Nittany Lions have a nice win at Temple, and have not lost to a team with a .500 record or worse. Unfortunately, they need to start beating some of those good teams on their schedule. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 3-8, 0-0 Big West. The Mustangs' 3 wins are at Louisiana Tech and San Diego and a home win against Wichita St. Give them credit for playing a grueling non-conference schedule, as they will face a few tough teams in Big West play. UTEP (Jeeber Mack) -- 5-6, 0-0 Conference USA. The Miners continue to struggle, losing at Utah Valley and at Texas St. They have won their last 2, but against teams with a combined 8-15 record, so there is work to do. Wright State (Shane Korme) -- 6-7, 1-0 Horizon. The Raiders have rebounded nicely since their 3 games of being hammered in their season tournament, as they got a huge win at Miss. St., and won their conference opener at Detroit. Central Michigan (Cannon Pace) -- 3-6. 0-0 MAC. The Chippewas lost their first 5 before winning 3 in a row, and lost by 3 to UC Irvine. Now they have a 2 game stretch against Tennessee and UAB. Those 2 teams have a combined record of 19-2. Evansville (Ekeje Bafou) -- 5-8, 0-2 MVC. The Aces got a couple nice road wins at Middle Tennessee and Marshall, but have lost their first 2 conference games by a combined 8 points. So close, yet so far. Bryant (Score Galore) -- 3-8, 0-0 Northeast. The Bulldogs got a couple good road wins at Princeton and Duquesne, and while they haven't played a grueling schedule, they've played some pretty decent teams. A 2 point loss to an 11-3 San Diego St. team might be the highlight of the season thus far. Monmouth (Thomas Carrano) -- 4-6, 0-0 Northeast. The Hawks have a nice home win against St. Bonaventure, but losses to Coastal Carolina and North Carolina A&T have Coach Carrano wondering what is going on. UCLA (Patrick Hutt) -- 9-2, 0-0 Pac 10. VCU and undefeated West Virginia are the 2 losses, nothing to be ashamed of. Unfortunately, other than the wins against Georgetown and New Mexico, they don't have any other quality wins. Davidson (Randolph Childress) -- 5-6, 0-0 Southern. It's hard to get a read on this Wildcat team, as they have played probably the top non-conference schedule in the nation, with losses to Missouri, Duke, Marquette, Tennessee, and Michigan St., and wins against Ohio St., Maryland, Georgia, and Texas. As you can see, they are laying it all on the line. Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 3-6, 0-0 WAC. The Warriors have lost 4 in a row against solid competition. 2 road losses at Illinois and Rhode Island, one close, one a blowout, kind of dictate Coach Gunn's season so far. Oregon State (Jawouk Bafou) -- 2-10, 0-0 WAC. The Beavers keep falling, and falling, and falling. Eastern Washington and Idaho constitute Oregon St.'s 2 wins, and it doesn't look to get any better as the season goes on. Code:

The biggest note is Charlotte, who has played themselves completely out of the bubble with 2 losses this week and is now projected out. Also, Davidson, despite their loss, is still a lock, so that is huge. The lock isn't very secure for Boston College, who might fall into just the In category with another split or 2 losses next week. |

Hartford (David Ginsberg) -- 14-14, 9-7 T-4th America East. The Hawks won 2 road games to finish out the regular season. First a 76-65 win at Stony Brook, then an 85-76 win at Maine. They'll finish off the regular season at home against Loyola-Maryland in a non-conference game, and will be the the 5th seed in the America East Tourney, opening up against 4th seed Binghamton. Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) -- 10-7, 6-10 T-7th America East. The Black Bears lost 2 games this week, first a 73-60 loss at Boston U, then the 85-76 loss at home to Hartford. They host Montana in a non-conference game next week and will be the 7th seed in the America East Tourney, opening up against 2nd seed Albany. Charlotte (Timmy Tribble) -- 16-12, 8-6 T-4th Atlantic 10. The 49ers split on the road this week, losing 71-63 at Duquesne but winning 80-64 at GW. Boston College (Alex Donovan) -- 19-9, 8-6 T-5th ACC. The Eagles continue to split, this week hosting Miami (FL) and winning 84-76, then travelling to GA Tech and losing 80-71. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 19-9, 8-6 5th Big 12. The Buffaloes also continue to split, this time hosting Oklahoma and losing 82-68 then travelling to Baylor and winning 78-69. Louisville (Kuji Chagulia) -- 23-6, 12-4 T-2nd Big East. The Cardinals also split this week, winning 86-67 at South Florida then hosting Notre Dame and losing 78-68. High Point (Roy Rogers) -- 17-12, 12-6 2nd Big South. The Panthers have set a career high for not only conference wins in a season, but also overall wins. Hopefully the trend for Coach Rogers keeps improving. This week they split on the road, winning 81-72 at Charleston Southern then losing 99-81 at Coastal Carolina. They'll be the 2nd seed in the Big South Tourney and open up against 7th seed Presbyterian. Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 17-11, 9-8 5th Big 10. Not the week the Hawkeyes wanted, as they lost 2 against very good competition. First an 86-65 loss at Wisconsin, then they returned home to lose 78-69 to Ohio St. Both teams are ranked in the top 20. Penn State (Tim Sheppard) -- 13-14, 6-10 8th Big 10. The Nittany Lions won 2 road games this week. First a 78-56 win at Purdue, then a 74-60 win at Northwestern. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 7-21, 4-11 8th Big West. The Mustangs split this week, first winning 59-40 at UC Riverside, then hosting UCSB and losing 86-77. UTEP (Jeeber Mack) -- 16-11, 9-5 T-2nd Conference USA. A split this week for the Miners, who won 69-62 at Southern Miss, then returned home to host Marshall and lost 81-72. Wright State (Shane Korme) -- 15-15, 10-8 4th Horizon. The Raiders had just 1 game this week, a home 87-77 win over Detroit. They'll be the 4th seed in the Horizon Tourney and open up against 9th seed Detroit. Go figure. Central Michigan (Cannon Pace) -- 11-15, 7-7 2nd in Western Division of MAC. 2 losses this week for the Chippewas, who lost 70-63 at Eastern Michigan then returned home and played a ranked Kent St. team very tough before losing 75-70. Evansville (Ekeje Bafou) -- 11-18, 6-12 9th MVC. A split this week for the Aces, who won 88-77 at Missouri St. before returning home and getting absolutely throttled by Drake, 75-38. This is the best conference record so far for the younger Bafou and his Aces, but it's still only good for the 9th seed in the MVC Tourney, where they will open up with... I'll be damned.. 8th seed Drake. Bryant (Score Galore) -- 9-20, 6-12 10th Northeast. The Bulldogs split this week, winning 73-54 at Mt. St. Marys before hosting Monmouth and losing 59-51. The Northeast Tourney only takes the top 8 teams, so once again, Monmouth fails to qualify and will end their season early. Monmouth (Thomas Carrano) -- 16-12, 12-6 2nd Northeast. The Hawks split this week, hosting conference winner Central Conn. St. and losing 84-66, then travelling to Bryant and winning 59-51. They'll host New Hampshire in a non-conference game before playing in the Northeast Tourney as the 2nd seed, and they'll open up against 7th seed Fairleigh Dickinson. UCLA (Patrick Hutt) -- 20-8, 10-6 4th Pac 10. A split for the Bruins this week, as they stayed at home both games. First they beat Cal 84-51, then lost to Stanford, who is a top 5 ranked team, 74-39. I'm pretty sure coach Hutt was looking for better results when he took the UCLA job. Davidson (Randolph Childress) -- 22-7, 17-1 1st in South Division of Southern. The Wildcats won 2 more games this week, as they hosted Furman and won 97-89, then travelled to Florida Atlantic and won 95-82. They'll again be the top seed in the Southern Tourney and will get a bye into the 2nd round where they will meet the winner between 9th seed Citadel and 8th seed Wofford. Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 10-16, 5-9 7th WAC. The Warriors had just 1 game this week, as they won 94-72 at San Jose St. Oregon State (Jawouk Bafou) -- 10-18, 7-7 5th wAC. Let's take a look at our teams in conference tournaments this week. America East Tournament Hartford (David Ginsberg) lost in the Quarterfinals 67-58 to (4) Binghamton, but before that they won a home non-conference game 75-63 against Loyola-Maryland. At 15-15 their season is most likely over. Maine (Cillian O'Reilly) lost in the Quarterfinals 76-66 to (2) Albany, and before that they lost at home 78-71 to Montana. At 10-19, their disappointing season is over. Big South Tournament High Point (Roy Rogers) lost in the Quarterfinals to (7) Presbyterian 74-64. Not a good loss at all, but a 17-13 record ought to be good enough to get them into the CBI or CIT. Horizon Tournament Wright State (Shane Korme) continued the trend of first game losers by losing to (9) Detroit 72-71 in the First Round. Ugh! Their 15-16 record will almost certainly be enough to assure they'll be staying home this postseason. MVC Tournament Evansville (Ekeje Bafou) ended the losing streak of our FOFC teams by beating (8) Drake 58-46 in the First Round, then played (1) nationally ranked Creighton tough before falling 77-66. They'll end their season with a 12-19 record. Northeast Tournament Bryant (Score Galore) failed to qualify and ends their season with a 9-20 record. Monmouth (Thomas Carrano) began the week with a home loss to New Hampshire 81-58, then in the conference tournament lost in the Quarterfinals to (7) Fairleigh Dickinson 69-60. Ugh! Their 16-14 record will probably keep them out of the postseason, but they are a very slight chance to make the CIT. Southern Tournament Davidson (Randolph Childress) beat (8) Wofford 79-61 in the Quarterfinals, then hammered (5) Furman 100-69 in the Semifinals. They'll play (3) Chattanooga for the Southern Championship next week. That covers it for the conference tournaments, now on to the other teams: Charlotte (Timmy Tribble) -- 18-12, 10-6 T-4th Atlantic 10. The 49ers had a good week, winning 2 home games. First a 73-50 win over Fordham, then a 76-61 win over St. Josephs. They'll be the 5th seed in the A-10 Tourney and will open up against (12) UMass in the First Round. Boston College (Alex Donovan) -- 20-10, 9-7 6th ACC. Another split for the Eagles, who won 87-79 at nationally ranked Duke, but returned home and lost 90-78 to North Carolina. They'll be the 6th seed in the ACC Tourney and open up in the First Round with (11) VA Tech. Colorado (Rob Nielsen) -- 19-11, 8-8 T-5th Big 12. Not a good week for the Buffaloes, who lost at home 80-71 to Iowa St., then played a top 5 Nebraska team very tough on the road, but eventually lost 79-76. They'll be the 5th seed in the Big 12 Tourney and open up in the First Round against (12) Kansas St. Louisville (Kuji Chagulia) -- 24-7, 13-5 2nd Big East. The Cardinals finish with yet another split, both at home. First a 94-53 smashing of Providence, then a close 88-86 loss to nationally ranked West Virginia. They'll will be the 2nd seed in the Big East Tourney and get a double bye into the Quarterfinals where they will face either (15) Rutgers, (10) West Virginia, or (7) Georgetown. Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) -- 17-12, 9-9 6th Big 10. The Hawkeyes finished with 1 home game this week, an 81-67 loss to Illinois. They'll be the 6th seed in the Big 10 Tourney and will open up in the First Round against (11) Minnesota. Penn State (Tim Sheppard) -- 14-15, 7-11 8th Big 10. The Nittany Lions split this week, hosting Michigan and winning 86-84, then losing big 66-41 at nationally ranked Wisconsin. They'll be the 8th seed in the Big 10 Tourney and open up in the First Round against 9th seed Purdue. Cal Poly (DeShawn St. John) -- 7-22, 4-12 8th Big West. The Mustangs ended the regular season on a very sour note, losing to UC Davis 70-32 at home. They'll be the 8th seed in the Big West Tourney and open up in the First Round against (5) UC Irvine. UTEP (Jeeber Mack) -- 17-12, 10-6 3rd Conference USA. A split this week for the Miners, who lost 72-62 at Tulsa then returned home to beat ECU 65-51. They'll be the 3rd seed in the Conference USA Tourney and get a bye to the Quarterfinals, where they will play either (11) Rice or (6) Marshall. Central Michigan (Cannon Pace) -- 13-15, 9-7 T-1st in West Division of MAC. A good week for the Chippewas, who won 85-83 in overtime at Northern Illinois, then returned home to beat Bowling Green 71-63. They'll be the 7th seed in the MAC Tourney and open up against (10) Buffalo in the First Round. UCLA (Patrick Hutt) -- 22-8, 12-6 T-3rd Pac 10. Good week for the Bruins who made the Arizona trip and won both. First a 78-60 win at Arizona St., then a 77-63 win over nationally ranked Arizona. They'll be the 4th seed in the Pac 10 Tourney and open up in the Quarterfinals with (5) Arizona St. Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) -- 11-17, 6-10 T-7th WAC. A split for the Warriors this week, who hosted Nevada and lost 98-95 in overtime, then travelled to Boise St. and won 75-72. They will be the 7th seed in the WAC Tourney and open up in the Quarterfinals with (2) LA Tech. Oregon State (Jawouk Bafou) -- 11-19, 8-8 5th WAC. The Beavers split this week, winning 57-54 at Fresno St. then returning home and losing 76-71 to San Jose St. They'll be the 5th seed in the WAC Tourney and open up in the Quarterfinals against (4) Nevada. So Colorado is still in good shape, but would like to win their first conference tourney game to get to 20 wins and all but assure themselves of being in. Charlotte is listed as the first team out, they definitely need to win at least one game in the C-USA Tourney, and hope some of the teams above them lose early. As for the other teams, Louisville, UCLA, and Davidson are locks, Boston College has moved down from a lock to just being projected in, but not as safely, and everybody else is projected out. |

Time to get the conference tournaments completed: Atlantic 10 Tournament Charlotte (Timmy Tribble) suffered an embarrassing loss in the First Round, as they lost to (12) UMass 81-73. At 18-13, it looks like the 49ers are going to be NIT bound. ACC Tournament Boston College (Alex Donovan) beat (11) Virginia Tech in the First Round before losing in the Quarterfinals to (3) N.C. State. At 21-11, they should be in the NCAA Tournament, but just barely. If not, they will be a top seed in the NIT. Big 12 Tournament Colorado (Rob Nielsen) beat (12) Kansas St. 89-78 in the First Round, then beat (4) Texas A&M 91-83 in the Quarterfinals, but got hammered in the Semifinals by (1) Texas, 91-68. At 21-12, they should be in, and like Boston College, if they do get snubbed, they should be a top seed in the NIT. Big East Tournament Louisville (Kuji Chagulia) lost to (10) West Virginia 103-94 in the Quarterfinals. At 24-8, they are a still a lock for the NCAA Tournament, but they will probably drop a couple seed lines with this loss. Big 10 Tournament Iowa (Ernesto Lopez) got by (11) Minnesota 67-63 in the First Round, then fought hard, but lost 80-74 to (3) Michigan St. in the Quarterfinals. At 18-13, I'd say they are NIT bound, at best. Penn State (Tim Sheppard) lost in the First Round to (9) Purdue 81-73. At 14-16, they are most likely done. Their season is definitely over with an 8-23 record. Conference USA Tournament UTEP (Jeeber Mack) got hammered by (11) Rice 82-66 in the Quarterfinals. This horrendous loss gives the Miners a 17-13 record and probably eliminates them from NIT contention. I'd say CBI. MAC Tournament Central Michigan (Cannon Pace) beat (10) Buffalo 61-51 in the First Round, then lost 76-56 to (2) Bowling Green in the Quarterfinals. At 14-16, their season is more than likely over. Pac 10 Tournament UCLA (Patrick Hutt) beat (5) Arizona St. 85-65 in the Quarterfinals. This win gave Coach Hutt his 100th career win. Then the Bruins followed that up by losing 65-52 to (1) Stanford in the Semifinals. At 23-9, they are definitely NCAA bound. Southern Tournament Davidson (Randolph Childress) lost 81-75 in overtime to (3) Chattanooga in the Championship. With a 24-8 record, the Wildcats are still a lock. Even though the Southern Conference is ranked 16th, Davidson has an RPI of 13. They'll be dancing. WAC Tournament Hawaii (B.B. Gunn) lost 65-56 to (2) Louisiana Tech in the Quarterfinals. They end a very disappointing season with an 11-18 record. Oregon State (Jawouk Bafou) lost 64-58 to (4) Nevada in the Quarterfinals. UCLA gets the 4th seed in the NCAA West Region and will open up against (13) Butler. Colorado gets the 10th seed in the NCAA Midwest Region and will open up with (7) Illinois. Davidson gets the 9th seed in the NCAA South Region and will open up against (8) Ohio St. Doesn't look like that conference final loss hurt them a bit. Louisville is defending their title as the 3rd seed in the NCAA South Region. Interestingly enough, they open up against (14) Chattanooga. Will Coach Childress be rooting for a fellow FOFC coach in that one, or will conference allegiance win out and he'll cheer for his fellow Southern Conference member. Boston College was more safely in than I thought, as they got the 9th seed in the NCAA East Region. They will open up against (8) Vanderbilt. Charlotte gets the 4th seed in the NIT East Region, and will host (5) Louisiana Tech in the Second Round. Iowa gets the 14th seed in the CBI and will travel to (3) St. Francis-PA in the First Round. High Point gets the 9th seed in the CIT and will travel to (8) Campbell in the First Round. Monmouth gets the 15th seed in the CIT and will travel to (2) Texas-Arlington in the First Round. While I'm happy that 9 of our 20 FOFC coached teams made a postseason tournament, I felt there should have been 10. UTEP, who had a better RPI than both High Point and Monmouth, gets left out. Makes no sense to me. I'm happy that Monmouth got in with their 16-14 record and 242 RPI, but how do these other tournaments justify not inviting UTEP, who had a 17-13 record and an RPI of 111. Crazy. |

(8) Cincinnati beats (4) UCLA 75-66. 2015 NIT Round of 8 (6) Fresno St. beat (4) Charlotte 83-72. 2015 CBI Semifinals (14) Iowa beat (7) Louisiana-Monroe 76-52. Iowa is now the only FOFC team left, and they will be taking on Villanova in the CBI Championship Series. 2015 CBI Championship Series, Game 1 (14) Iowa beat (8) Villanova 67-57 to take a 1-0 lead. 2015 CBI Championship Series, Game 2 (14) Iowa beat (8) Villanova 83-70 to win the CBI! Ernesto Lopez becomes our 2nd coach to lead a team to a postseason tournament title, and it's been done in back to back years. Congrats to Ernesto, as Iowa finishes the season with a 23-13 record. |

2015 Postseason Recap
The 2015 NCAA Final Four was anything but predictable, as 2 double digit seeds made it in. In the first semifinal, (5S) North Carolina beat (11W) Miami (FL) 75-55. The other semifinal saw (12MW) Xavier upset (1E) UConn 74-69. The national championship saw North Carolina beat Xavier 86-78. The 2015 NIT Final Four was a little bit more how it should have been. The first semifinal saw (2W) Georgia beat (6S) Fresno St. 69-55, and the second semifinal saw (4MW) Northern Iowa beat (8S) Mississippi Valley St. (a total surprise there) 70-52. The NIT Championship saw Northern Iowa beat Georgia 61-59. We know what happened with the 2015 CBI, as our very own Iowa Hawkeyes won it. The 2015 CIT Championship saw (2) Texas-Arlington beat (4) Pepperdine 108-91. |

Boston College put SF Isidoro Bugnata on the NCAA All-Freshman Team. 2014-2015 Conference Awards Hartford JR SF Emmett Burgos was America East Player of the Year and also made the All-League 1st Team. Maine put JR PG Kenneth Saylor on the All-America East 2nd Team and FR SG Brian Wilke on the All-Freshman Team. Wilke was also the America East Freshman of the Year. Charlotte put SR PF Michael Jonas on the Atlantic 10 1st Team. Boston College FR SF Isidoro Bugnata kept winning the awards, as he was named ACC Freshman of the Year and also made the ACC All-Freshman Team. JR C Nicholas Bow made the All-ACC 1st Team. Hartford had the 271st best class in the nation, good for 8th in the America East. Yikes! Maine had the 125th best class in the nation, tops in the America East. Charlotte had the 46th best class in the nation, tops in the Atlantic 10. Boston College had the top class in the nation, and obviously the top class in the ACC. Obviously this means nothing if they don't produce on the court, but Alex Donovan has to be feeling good about this. Colorado had the 124th best class in the nation, unfortunately only good for 11th in the Big 12. Louisville had the 3rd best class in the nation, tops in the Big East. High Point had the 211th best class in the nation, good for 5th in the Big South. Iowa had the 25th best class in the nation, good for 4th in the Big 10. Penn State had the 337th best class in the nation, last in the Big 10 by far. Uh-oh! Cal Poly had the 244th best class in the nation, good for 8th in the Big West. UTEP had the 120th best class in the nation, good for 5th in Conference USA. Wright State had the 230th best class in the nation, good for 9th in the Horizon. Central Michigan had the 131st best class in the nation, good for 5th in the MAC. Evansville had the 133rd best class in the nation, good for 6th in the MVC. Bryant had the 182nd best class in the nation, good for 3rd in the Northeast. Monmouth had the 303rd best class in the nation, good for 10th in the Northeast. UCLA had the 155th best class in the nation, unfortunately that is last in the Pac 10. Davidson had the 165th best class in the nation, good for 5th in the Southern. Hawaii had the 35th best class in the nation, good for 2nd in the WAC. Oregon State had the 60th best class in the nation, good for 4th in the WAC. |

Some conference movement this offseason that affects the Big South and High Point. Winthrop is moving to the Atlantic Sun, while Florida Gulf Coast is moving to the Big South.
2 coaches have jumped from level 7 to level 8. Patrick Hutt of UCLA and Randolph Childress of Davidson. Zinto and ntndeacon, please let me know how you want me to distribute your 20 bonus points. Randolph Childress of Davidson was the only coach to receive offers in the first round of head coach movement. Arkansas, Clemson, Oakland, West Virginia, Wichita St., and Youngstown St. offered. Youngstown is a huge step down prestige wise, I wouldn't even look at them. Wichita St. and Oakland are slight declines prestige wise, but if you were to consider either one of those schools, Oakland has a lot of green potential players coming back. 9 to be exact. As for Clemson, and West Virginia, if Randolph wanted to move to either of those schools, he would have to compete with Boston College and Louisville, and that wouldn't be an easy task. Although both schools have a lot of talent and potential coming back, so they would still be predicted to finish near the top of the conference. Arkansas also has a lower potential than Davidson, but they have more talent coming back than Wichita St., Oakland, or Youngstown St. As for Davidson themselves, they've got 2 incoming freshman that stand to be really good, a senior that hasn't lived up to his potential, and a junior that isn't quite there yet and is a risk for academic suspension every year. So ntndeacon the question is do you want to stay at Davidson and continue to build on the good you've done there, or take your chances and jump ship to one of the schools that has a lot more projected green or blue potential players, knowing they may not all live up to the expectations. You've got a lot of decisions to make, but never fear, I will be out of town until Monday, so you've got a few days to think about it. |

Elite 8 in the NIT for Charlotte? Awesome.
Best recruiting class O'Reilly has had at Maine so far. It may even be the first in the top 200. This is HUGE for the Black Bears.

For those wondering, I have not abandoned this project, not by a longshot. I've been dealing with some medical issues over the past few days and I am getting ready to go to a doctors appointment to hopefully get some tests run and get some answers. I'm hoping that I can get this next season started either tomorrow or Friday, if all goes well. Cross your fingers.

Alright guys, I am ready to get going with this again, I have added the bonus points for Randolph Childress and Patrick Hutt, and not much happened in round 2 of head coach movement, except for 1 thing.. Randolph is a wanted man. Butler, UAB, Utah, and Xavier all want him, and all 4 have prestiges of over 70 and coming off at least 22 win seasons. So, I have to stop here as fast as I got it restarted, because ntndeacon has another decision to make.
Sorry ntndeacon, I won't just assume you want to stay at Davidson with some of the good offers that are coming your way. If you want info on any of those teams, pm me and I'll let you know what's up. |

Don't know how I missed the response, but Randolph is sticking with Davidson, so unless another coach has job offers in this offseason, I'll just go straight to the season.
I'm back in town so I should be able to progress forward with this in the next couple days. |

Just saw Iowa won the CBI, cool stuff. That 14 seeding didn't look too accurate watching them beat the snot out of 4 higher seeds. Glad to see they got a strong recruiting class too. Maybe they can make a move this year.

So after about 5 more rounds of job offers for Randolph Childress that were beyond laughable, we are finally at the point of getting this season underway.. well sort of, first there's still some preseason matters to dabble with, starting with:
2015-2016 FOFC Coach Hotseat Ratings David Ginsberg (Hartford) -- The seat is now cool, and the goal is to finish .500 or better in the America East. Cillian O'Reilly (Maine) -- Still an average seat, but the board still thinks Maine should be dancing this season. Timmy Tribble (Charlotte) -- Average seat, the board wants Charlotte to compete for the A-10 title. Alex Donovan (Boston College) -- Cool seat, goal is for the Eagles to play in the NCAA Tournament. Rob Nielsen (Colorado) -- Rob is now sitting on a nice, cool seat at Colorado, and the goal is still pretty simple, play in any postseason tournament. Kuji Chagulia (Louisville) -- I'm convinced that cool is as low as the seating range goes in FBCB, because Kuji has been on a cool seat forever, even after winning the national title 2 seasons ago. Anyhow, his goal this year is to get the Cardinals back to the Sweet Sixteen. Roy Rogers (High Point) -- Roy is now on a cool seat, and the board has made the goal much more realistic. Now they want High Point just to compete for the Big South title. Ernesto Lopez (Iowa) -- The seat is still average for Ernesto, and the board would like a repeat of last season. Not necessarily winning a postseason tournament, but just playing in one. Tim Sheppard (Penn State) -- The grace period is over for Tim, and his seat is average. The board thinks the Nittany Lions are good enough to make a postseason tournament. DeShawn St. John (Cal Poly) -- Uh-oh! The pressure is on. DeShawn now sits on a very warm seat, and the board is losing patience with him. He may be on thin ice if he doesn't lead the Mustangs to at least a .500 finish in Big West play this season. Jeeber Mack (UTEP) -- Average seat, and the board wants the Miners to compete for the C-USA title. Shane Korme (Wright State) -- Shane is still on an average seat, but that's because the board insists on the Raiders playing in the NCAA Tournament year after year. I mean, I guess that should be every teams goal, but let's tone it down a bit huh? Cannon Pace (Central Michigan) -- Despite the losing record in his first season at the helm, Cannon's seat at Central Michigan is already cooling, and the board just wants a .500 or better finish in the MAC. Ekeje Bafou (Evansville) -- The Aces seem to have a very patient board, as Ekeje is still on an average seat and the goal is still to avoid last place in the MVC. Obviously this is one board that isn't expecting miracles. Score Galore (Bryant) -- Same holds true for Score and Bryant. The patience is there, as his seat is still average, and the goal is just to avoid last place in the Northeast. Thomas Carrano (Monmouth) -- Thomas continues to sit on a cool seat, but the goal is still the same, to get the Hawks to the big dance. Patrick Hutt (UCLA) -- As always, expectations are extremely high in Westwood. The Bruins are expecting nothing short of a Final Four appearance, and Patrick, despite not doing great in his first few years at UCLA, is still only on an average seat. Randolph Childress (Davidson) -- If any of our coaches deserve to have an iced down seat permanently, it is Randolph, who continually passes up more high profile jobs to get the Wildcats to the promised land. His seat is as cool as FBCB will allow it to be, and the board is still just wanting a Southern championship. B.B. Gunn (Hawaii) -- B.B. and the Warriors have shown signs of becoming a really good team, but it hasn't gotten there yet. The board at Hawaii is ready for an NCAA Tournament team, and they've made it quite clear to B.B. Get them there, now! That being said, he's not in any danger yet as his seat is still nice and average. Jawouk Bafou (Oregon State) -- This might be the most patient of boards in all of FBCB. Despite a conference demotion a couple of years ago, and less than impressive performances in the WAC, Jawouk is still sitting on an average seat, and his very patient board just wants the Beavers to stay out of the cellar at the end of the season. |

Don't read too much into some of the teams that got votes and points, I'm pretty sure at least half the mid-major teams get some preseason love, but within a few weeks, it usually whittles down. |

I'd like to see some more of our coaches have some success in general and get some job offers. After all, we can't have Kuji Chagulia and Randolph Childress hogging all the spotlight can we? |

2015 Season Tournaments
Hawaii will be the 6th seed in the 2015 Alaska Invitational and will open up against (3) California. Penn State will be the 4th seed in the 2015 Anaheim Invitational and will open up against (5) Valpo. Davidson will be the 2nd seed in the 2015 Island Invitational and will open up against (7) Portland State. Boston College will be the 2nd seed in the 2015 Las Vegas Challenge and will open up against (7) Akron. Iowa will be the 4th seed in the 2015 Las Vegas Challenge and will open up against (5) St. Johns. Louisville will be the top seed in the 16 team 2015 Las Vegas Shootout and will open up against (16) Northwestern State. Here we go again, multiple FOFC coached teams in the same tournament. Charlotte will be the 4th seed in the 16 team 2015 Las Vegas Shootout and will open up against (13) Drake. Evansville will be the 7th seed in the 2015 Orlando Classic and will open up against (2) Seton Hall. UTEP will be the 6th seed in the 2015 Paradise Shootout and will open up against (3) Utah State. UCLA will be the top seed in the 2015 Philadelphia Invitational and will open up with (8) Marshall. And to top it off, why am I not surprised. Damn you FBCB! Wright State is the 4th seed and Oregon State is the 5th seed in the 2015 Top of the Globe Invitational and will play each other in the First Round. Grr! Only 12 of our 20 FOFC coached teams in season tournaments this season. Fairly disappointing. I can't wait for the season in which all 20 get in a tournament, although when that happens, 6 of them will probably be in the same tournament! lol |
