BYU has piss poor clock management at the end and we go into OT 20 - 20.

Nesbitt out with an ankle injury, Shaw in & the offense predictably looks like it'll be lucky to get a first down. We settle for a 42 yd FG after a Georgia fumble, lucky to be down only 7-3 early in Q2.

I am sorry, but I just realized that GT has a starting Qb named Josh and a Backup named Jaybo....one is white one is black, and if you gave 100 people on the street who are not GT fans a guess I am betting less than 5 get which is which...
That is all... Hope Nesbitt is ok, want GT at full strenggth next week. Last edited by CU Tiger : 11-28-2009 at 08:00 PM. |

Nesbitt heads to the locker room, too much pain to stay on the sideline.
We're almost certainly toast. It happens, I ain't going to cry about it. I may be suicidal, inconsolable, and will probably end up losing my dinner but it is what it is. Hell, if we don't find some sort of defense it might not have mattered anyway.

OMG...
BYU pulled it off in OT...the defense held forced the FG and then Max Hall hit Dennis George across the middle who ran into the end zone untouched!! Oh and just an FYI, this was the only rivalry game where both teams were ranked.

Nesbitt gets smoked on a 3rd pass play, sacked after they just blew through the OL. Gonna throw a hail mary to end the half with :03 left, barring a miracle we'll go into the locker room down 17-3 after an abysmal half.
edit to add: Heh, GT called timeout with three seconds left to run the 4th down play. Meanwhile UGA had already left the field so now they've taken a TO to get everyone back out. Long & out of the end zone incomplete but I will say that Nesbitt looked fairly mobile on that play.

You were right, I thought LSU was going to completely unsettle Mallet and lead to a blowout, but I was wrong. It's been a much more entertaining game than I expected after that 1st quarter. Hopefully, it'll be over before the USC game starts (but doesn't seem likely.)

That was an entertaining first half between ND and Standford, Irish lead 24-20. Clausen and Tate are putting up impressive numbers as usual. We'll see what happens in the second half, I'd guess another close loss for the Irish for a fitting end to the season.

Any Oklahoma fans know if Kevin Wilson has been under consideration for any HC jobs (or is he considered a candidate "in waiting" for Oklahoma?)? It seems like the Stoops coaching tree has been pretty good (Leach, Sumlin, Mike Stoops, Mangino) and Wilson has been the OC there for quite awhile.

Nesbitt's little toss to Thomas turns into a 76 yd TD pass to get within 17-10.
First play from scrimmage Georgia gets a 75 yd TD run from Caleb King & it's back to 24-10 Unfuckingbelievable how inept this defense is.

27-23 LSU after a big drive and FG. Arkansas has the ball with 4:50 to play and this is Mallett's chance to make a big drive on the road. His critics all point to the lack of something like that on his resume. Let's see if he steps up.

All in all this hasn't been a great weekend for defenses. I mean look at how many points Illinois scored against Cincinnati. The Bearcats made Juice Williams look like a D-1 QB.

Tennessee fumbles inside their 30, Kentucky driving down 24-21 with 2 minutes left.
Meanwhile CPJ goes for it on 4th & 9 just inside the 50 & is rewarded with a first down pass to Thomas.

ESPN is really getting on my last damn nerve.
Ever since the SEC deal there is such blatant homerism that it is disgusting. I really feel like all professional integrity is gone from their broadcast. For years NBC has had the ND deal but I never felt like the announcers were blatantly pulling for ND, in fact when ND was beating up on their service institution brethren by 50 (I know its been a while remember how it was pre Weiss?) the announcers seemed almost apologetic. These days it is in your face, "Our league is so great" During the half time report they said UGA annihilating GT and the SC absolutely demolished Clemson, ok SC clearly beat Clemson, but 17 is not a typical demolishing, and GT UGA are still actually playing...not so much of an annihilation. Combine their financial interest in the league, and the fact that a large number of AP voters (as well as coaches for that matter) are either full time employees or occasional free lance contract commentators, I hae to wonder if there is not a real conflict of interest here. Despite my loyalty to Clemson I have always been a pro SEC guy especially compared to the Big Ten crowd, but I swear ESPN has just about ruined that, I hope the SEC goes 0-ever outside the conference until this deal is dead. |

Actually, "annihilation" is a pretty apt description of what Georgia has done to GT so far. Jackets defense don't even look like they belong on the same field with a very pedestrian Georgia offense. Quote:
Can't exist, they're selling a product just like everyone other network. That's their interest, period, there's no conflict in that.

Tennessee defense holds Kentucky to a FG after they got down to the 13. It's 24-24 with about 30 seconds left in regulation.

I have a real problem with the Coaches having any say in the BCS standings because they know the higher their conference members are, the more likely they are to get more than 1 team in the BCS. Which means more $$ for the conference.
Now the wimps (putting it lightly) won't publish their final votes like in years past so we wont be able to see which ones are blatantly doing this. |

Yeah, it feels a LOT worse than 24-17 (after a Dwyer TD). The physical domination by the Georgia OL is one of the most embarrassing things I've seen in Atlanta in a while. And Georgia is trying their best to give this thing back, two fumbles they've recovered themselves since the kickoff.

And the secondary isn't playing any better than the front seven. Just completely embarrassing.
edit to add: Either Wommack has to go, even after just one season, or else virtually every available scholarship has to be allocated to upgrading the defense.

Kentucky misses a FGA on their first OT possession.
Tennessee starts theirs with a holding penalty.
