2.9 - Best melee death - General Maximus Decimus Meridius, Gladiator
He is poisoned, but still manages to kill the emperor before dying himself. If I find a more complete vid, I'll update.

I realize I am in a very small minority when I dont know something from Seinfeld. But in terms of deaths. not only was it a bigger character. (was with the show three seasons) but there is NO way that any death that happened on Seinfeld was bigger than Col. Blake's. That was an iconic moment in the show. I am sure we will come up with other deaths that are Iconic to the show they represent.
I also realize that iwill not ever win one of these because I am older than alot of folks...well not Buccaneer. |

I am so happy no one picked this one:
2.10 - Best Suicide Scene - Dr. Strangelove - Major "King" Kong gloriously bronco rides the nuke to it's destination. I just watched this again a few weeks ago, and this always cracks me up.

I will snag a video when I get home if there is one. I know casino was not the most opular movie and was mediocre but it was awesome and melee was hard for me to think of

I definitely didn't think Casino was mediocre and love the pick. It was a fuckin brutal death scene. They made him watch his brother die before really going to work on him. |

I couldn't either the first few times, but it clicked for me the last two times. I love it now. I'm not making the "cool" picks that most FOFCers will like, such as shows like The Wire (never watched it), or "The Shield (that either). I'm just going with the ones I liked. I guess I know I won't win, but I'll have fun with my picks.

It definitely could have fit that category as well, but I think there are fewer melee deaths to choose from that are memorable than there are heroic deaths.

It's funny how I'm thinking about this at different times. Like, just now, I was walking to my car after leaving the liquor store, and a death just popped into my head that made me go "Holy fuck I hope that's still there when my pick comes around".

Man, I admit when I saw this thread go up, I was sorta "WTH?!?" and didn't come in. Now that I have and see what's going on and realize this draft's potential, I am thinking this is going to be pretty flippin' awesome. Half the movies made involve some sort of death, for cryin' out loud. And while TV is less "death friendly", there are choices there to be had.
I have noticed one trend already, and I am interested to see if it continues, or if people will begin to pickup on options outside of that trend at some point. BTW, this is probably obvious, so I'll feel stupid later, but whatever--what the heck is "ToD"?

stevew - Maybe I'm in the minority but I think Casino is a masterpiece and that scene is an awesome pick.

I know there's like a million deaths in the Sopranos, so it was hard to come up with the one to use. In my opinion, this one stood out more than any other.

OK, I finally put together a spreadsheet -- CT's addition of an 11th category meant I had to mess with the old version some.

3.4 Best death in a TV show - Scott Tenorman's parents, South Park
Was there any doubt that I would make this pick? Consistently rated one of the top moments in the 13 (and counting) seasons of South Park, Cartman gets his revenge on Scott Tenorman by orchestrating the deaths of Scott's parents, and serving them to him in a bowl of chili.

3.5 - Jason Voorhees - Serial Killer He may not be a classic serial killer, but Jason has 154 kills to his name over the span of his career. 154! He is the premier murderer, and as the highlight package above shows, he doesn't fuck around. |

3.09 Best Melee Death - Private Mellish knife death - Saving Private Ryan
Of all the death experienced in this movie, the hand to hand combat and the slow, painful scene where the knife is driven into the Private's chest is probably the toughest for me to watch. |

I thought about that, Radii. If there's one death to take in Saving Private Ryan, it's that one.
