Coaching Changes
I just want to highlight a few this season. Marquette fired Daniel Bullington. He then got hired by Virginia Tech. Prob was a good thing for Bullington. He didn't have a lot of success at Marquette however did string together 2 recruiting classes in a row that might pan out. Providence fired Daniel Hansen which to me is a huge mistake. He had done really well recruiting the past 2 seasons and had high recruiting ratings. That wont happen again their and unfortunately he didn't get hired at a HC this year which might pave the way for me to snag him next year. St. John's fired Chris Killingsworth. This one I might have been conflicted on if I was still in the Big East but I can certainly see why, but I really think he hand them on the right track. Their 15 wins last year was the 2nd most in school history and he did finally bring in a nice recruiting class. |

Not sure how this season will play out in the America East. My first season here and I dont have a handle on all the players yet.
From looking at the rosters I think Vermont and Binghamton should duke it out for the title and I think Albany will be my sleeper team this year. Im really just looking for improvement out of all the teams and coaches so that we can start to right the ship for just about everyone in the conf |

It looks like I wasnt that far off with my predictions although Boston being where it finished was a shocker. Im sure that alumni liked that.
Should be an interesting conf tourney. We will only get 1 team into the big dance. |

#2 Binghampton loses to #3 Boston U 65-59... Good for Boston here, another big time upset in my book. Still have no idea how Boston is doing this. Must be the new head coach Bobby Decastro I hired |

Title Game
#1 Albany beats #3 Boston U 72-64. This is great for Albany as its their first conf title and first tourney title. This is also the first time they make a post season tourament ever and they did have the best recruiting class in the conf last year. Some good things to build on here. |

We have 3 teams make a post season this year.
Albany head to the IAAUS tournament as a #14 seed. They play #3 seed Wake Forest who is coming off an IAAUS title game last season when they were I #4 Seed I believe. Not exactly the game I was hoping for. Binghampton- Makes the NIT as an #8 Seed and they play #9 Campbell for the right to take on #1 seed UNLV. Vermont- Coach Mike Schaplowsky has the catamounts in the 4IT tourament as the #16 seed playing #1 Houstion Baptist. I am dissapointed that Boston U didnt make a tournament but I guess 3 teams is better than just 1 in a post season so I wont get too greedy in the first season. |

#8 Binghampton loses to #9 Campbell 57-64. 4IT #16 Vermont pulls off the upset of #1 Houston Baptist 64-50. They handled them pretty good. Will be interesting to see if they can keep that going. |

IAAUS Final 4 and Championship
#8 Syracuse loses to #1 Florida 89-79 #8 Miami just crushes #3 Wake Forest 86-59 #1 Florida stomps #8 Miami 100-80. This is the Gators 2nd title, so the only teams to win titles other than the Big East teams in 10 years are Michigan State and Florida. Last edited by muns : 03-27-2011 at 11:39 PM. |

Last season Maine was the only team that had a top 110 recruiting class coming in at 108. Everybody else was in the 200 range with the exception of UMBC who was 312 and Boston was 341
This season we have 3 teams in the top 100. 4 teams in the 100-199 range, and Vermont and Stony Brook screwing up with a 336 and 337... |

Coaching Evaluations
Im not going to do any except the guys I kept last year as I dont have a whole lot to evaluate with my new coaches Binghampton-Allan Travis- Allen was right there fighting for the conf title last year and fell a few games short. He did have enough on his resume to make the NIT and lost in the first round. I cant complain about that at all. I hope he keeps that up. He also just landed the 63 best class in the land and that is damn nice for the America East! Stony Brook-George Salerno- I wasn't sure what I was honestly going to do last year with him and decided to keep him. Wrong choice. He went 12-18 for the 2nd straight year and he brought in one of the worst recruiting classes in the nation, and the worst class in the conference. He has been here his entire career and gone 138-175. New Coach coming up in the Brook next season! UMBC-Domenic Oberg- He had a horrible year this year going 11-20 and now has an overall reacord at UMBC of 81-80. For one of the better teams in this America East, I just cant let this continue. Granted he did bring in the best rated class in the conf this year which is why I want to jump on this and bring in a guy that can really develop it. New coach at UMBC next year as well! |

Potential Candidate list
All Assistant Coaches Tyson Tarter- UNC- Ratings of 10-3-6-7. Has been at 2 places, Kansas State for 5 years and UNC for 5 years. Has only missed the post season twice in his 10 seasons. Really looks good. Also has 2 Sweet 16 trips in 4 years at UNC. Kevin Callen- Colorado- Ratings of 8-10-10-1. Has an overall record of 120-130 at both South Carolina and Valpo. Did well at South Carolina and doesnt look like a good firing, however he didnt do crap in 3 years in Valpo. Brian Lux- Syracuse- Ratings of 5-10-2-10. Has an overall record of 144-139 and 2 conference tournament titles. Spent 4 years as the head man at Cornell before leaving to head to George Mason for 5 years. At George Mason he started off hot after his first season taking them to 3 post season touraments in a row, the NIT twice and the 3BI finals once. He however was fired the next season for going 14-18. Daniel Hansen- USC- My former hire at Providence has ratings of 10-10-2-10 and an overall record of 80-112. Still cant believe Providence let him go after he had to big time recruiting classes, but those are the breaks. Otto McChesney- LSU- Re copied last years bio for him. Ratings of 8-8-7-3 and an overall record of 111-113. Actually has a Conference championship with a team in my Conference UMBC. He spent the first 5 years of his career there guiding them to 3 post season trips before leaving to take the head Job at Tennessee Martin where he was fired after 2 seasons. Has already proven he can handle my conference. Last edited by muns : 03-28-2011 at 12:46 AM. |

The newest editions to the America East Coaching Family
UMBC- Tyson Tarter UNC assistant- Tyson makes sense for UMBC because he can recruit with that 10 rating, however he can also develop his players with a 6 and 7 rating in those categories. He looks to me a real hot assistant and I figured I'd better snatch him up before another conference does. His UNC experience looks to be invaluable and the other plus is that he is from the MA area, so those ties look real good. Hiopefully I made the right move here as Tyson takes over one of the better programs in the America East. Stony Brook-Daniel Hansen- USC Assistnat- Point blank the man was recruiting his butt off at lowly Providence, and if he could do that there, then there is no reason why he cant do that at Stony Brook. The Book looks to be in a rut the past few years after being a decent program. Located in NY the recruiting should be there, and Daniel does have ties to the area. He should be able to come in and immediatly energize a program that looks to be flat lining along with adding another coach that has a 10 rating in recruiting. These battles should start to heat up soon I think. Last edited by muns : 03-28-2011 at 01:03 AM. |

After really looking at things, the Binghampton job is better then those although the Davidson job was tempting. I bet he gets a few more offers this round.

I really think that is a better job, and I have accepted the job for him. They were tied for the best prestige in the conf, and had a bigger budget, and had a better Prestige than Binghampton.

Wow so i just looked though the coaching moves pages to see who got fired and who was still left on the market.......
The big east has wasted no time in getting rid of guys that they thought were dead weight. Freeman Wallace who was the head coach at DePaul was fired and is still avaliable. Record of 167-164 and ratings of 10-3-10-5 Thomas Desilva who was the head coach at South Florida was fired after 2 years. Just a wrong move there. This guy didnt get enough time to see what he could do. He is one of the 50 most winningest coaches with a record of 215-115. Ratings of 6-1-8-10 Few other guys that im looking at Bobby Bennett- Fired by Texas A&M CC- Ratings of 6-7-6-6 and and overall record of 174-141. Has 2 conf titles and 1 All american. Douglas Clark- Fired by Utah State for going 98-63 with 1 conf title. Has ratings of 6-2-10-8. Was in the post season 5 times in 5 years at Utah state( 3BI three times, NIT once, and IAAUS tournament once. Last edited by muns : 03-28-2011 at 01:49 AM. |

This is a tough call between Thomas Desilva and Douglas Clark. I think they both would do a good job, however Desilva has more experience as a head coach and clearly more wins so im going to land him.
Not a bad swap I guess although I would have liked to keep Allan Travis in my stable of coaches. Last edited by muns : 03-28-2011 at 01:53 AM. |

Well the standings are whacked out a bit.
I didnt see Boston coming again for a 2nd straight year. They blew it by their the OOC though and Hartford really crapped the bed this season. It will be interesting to see what Vermont does in the conf tourney. They have the best player in the conf, and one of the top rebounders to go along with it.
