Must've been checking out recruits last night or something.

I had a similar situation on a train from DC to NYC last year. I'm looking at this guy sitting across the aisle, thinking I know him through work somehow...and then it clicks that it's ND basketball coach Mike Brey.

I bet that's why Dayton is not playing this weekend, gives their coaching staff all weekend to scout.

Apparently it's been 4 years since I've had anyone (that I knew about) worth mentioning. Last week I had Rick Harrison from Pawn Stars going to Vegas. Should've asked him if he got his tickets half price. Lol.

Funny about that. I was on a flight through Vegas with Chumlee and the Old Man not too long ago. Chumlee swears like a sailor.

Today it was William Hung from LA to Boston.

Same smile, posed for some pics with other passengers.

To this day, the best I got was a flight where Mike Jarvis and the GW basketball team were on their way to UMass, where they upset the then #1 team in the country. Think this was 1995.

He's apparently a regular flier of ours, as he's only one step below 'god' level passengers.

I miss having god-level status on United. It was pretty awesome being Global Services status.

Well guys, this isn't about who I carried on my plane, but about who I'm carrying going forward. After more than 6 years on the 737; and 16 years doing nothing but North/Central American and the Carribbean, I am switching planes. All of you who thought you might catch me from Newark to Orlando, or Chicago to Seattle are going to be out of luck. Now you're going to have to take a trip to China, Japan, Brazil, or India to catch me. It's a nice little pay raise and even though I'm still an FO, it's just one step away from making Captain, which should happen sometime in the next few years, or sooner, if I just don't like the wide body international.

So I'll be in training from the middle of November until the end of the year with a new type rating in my pocket when I'm done.

Thanks guys.

I didn't think that I would have an update in this thread, but today proved me wrong. Today, I took Corey Booker from Denver to LA.

I got a chance to talk with him for a couple minutes and he took a photo with me after I sent him a note that I was a supporter of his. He also happens to be a super special level passenger with my company.

He wasn't going to have time to chat, because he had to run, so he made a 30 second video for me while we were enroute. But the gate agent took 5 minutes to get the bridge up to the plane. It was a great experience otherwise. I wish he was higher up in the polls.

You know, I figured this one would have more excitement behind it. But only a few people have said anything and most people have just blown right past it. I would not have figured that. Even my wife was like, who is that? And after I told her all she said was oh, and then changed the subject to something else.

Nice! I think Senator Booker is a fantastic person to meet. I can sort of understand why he's not higher in the polls, but he'd be fun to talk to, I'd imagine.

Do pilots get a heads up on celebrities on their plane (e.g. so you guys can do special service/attention to the important people vs. rest of us cattle)?

I'd say yes and no. Because it's not about whether or not they are famous it's about their status within the company programs. So we get a list of the Super Duper Special (SDS) passengers who are on board (and that's how I knew he was on), but if they aren't SDS Passengers I wouldn't have any idea unless I saw them. On the ground there's another employee group that makes sure they are looked after and provide extra services should they need them. But it's all about status, not "who" they are, so to speak.

It's been a month of training and I've been home 7 days total in that time, which his really, really hard for a close knit, homebody family, but this morning I passed my check ride and I am officially a 777 rated pilot. Right now it looks like my first trip in the plane is going to be next Monday going to China. I very, very happy that this is done. It's been an exhausting slog.

Congrats! The 777 is a cool looking bird and actually one of the better passenger flying experiences in my opinion.

Just remember. Push for managed mode, pull for selected mode.

And the up/down arrows in the FMC are stupid and backwards, and whoever came up with that idea should be thoroughly smacked.

Plane flies itself otherwise.

This does not compute, please speak in actual aviation terms.
