Going with voting who I bet on for now. Bet on Lathum after he brought it up and couldn't think of another way to make bet. Not convinced it means he's a villager though, and I'm open to change if anyone as any better ideas.

My main issue with the process behind that is that we probably can't get enough people to vote and then be able to come back later and re-vote.

Probably not, at this point. Even though every time I look, I see a good 5 or so in this thread, no one is doing it, or even discussing it. Besides you, the best we have in here is people discussing that we should discuss it.

heres a reason not to...lets just say i bet on Lathum and i tell you all that, and he goes ahead and gets lynched, and i win my bet...the mafia now knows i have more money than i started with...they dont know how much more, but they know i have more.

what exactly do you that the pickpocket service is for?

i have now been identified as having money...it is highly reasonable to think that Lefty whateverhisnameis is going to relieve me of that money if the mafia wins his services

even if that isnt what Lefty does, i have at the very least identified myself as someone that the mafia will want to kill since they know i have more money than they do individually, and could outbid them on other services

i have absolutely no intention of telling anyone who i bet on.

How many people do you think bet on you? If it's a lot, they don't need to worry about being executed, since they are one of many. If it's a small number, then you don't need to worry about getting voted out!

sal, it's a good point. I'm not too worried about revealing who I bet on personally, because if I win, I figure I'll be one of many (otherwise the guy I bet on would not be the winner).

So...who DO you guys plan to vote for?

I am not sure how well we are going to be able to read the votes especially the first day votes. The betting records are more than likely going to be our friends assuming that info from the betting parlor even though I think those numbers for today are going to be skewed with people seeing what Lathum put and following through with placing a bet on him.

I am not saying voting records will be useless but with two groups of wolves it is going to be easier for them to hide themselves initially.

OK - so it is 1/2-way through my first day, and here is what I've already learned. No matter how many threads I read to get an idea how to play this game, it's not until I'm in it that I begin to understand the "level of complexity" to it.

I'm likening it to chess. Instead of worrying about just my move, I need to think about my opponent's move, and then my move in response to that. So while I am currently operating at just the basic level, the rest of you are at a factor of two or three times greater.

I bet on who I thought seemed obvious based on previous postings. But now I see that there's a whole 'nother game going on. It seemed to me that winning the bet made the most sense. But now I read these points that by winning, you may in fact be losing in the long term. Sheesh.

Anyway, so it doesn't look as if I am piling on, I will go ahead and make my vote now.

VOTE LATHUM

my thought is that today revealing who you bet on will be less detrimental to who you vote on in the future.

I am interested to find out what some of these "services" do. Some are relatively easy to figure out others not so much.

I agree with Lathum and saldana. *Consider this point also: if we all did reveal who we bet for and one or more of the mafia groups did bunch their bets, we would be giving them too much influence over the D1 vote as well as giving them a better chance of making more money off the lynch.

Do you think the mafia groups did bunch their bets?

Again, I don't think that anyone should be locked into betting who they voted for -- just that it should be a starting point. Given that, I think their influence would be the same as any other time when they all vote as a block.

If people are getting hung up about the reveal, that's fine. I just thought it's something we might as well do, since we have a vested interest in seeing that person lynched. If you want to keep an air of mystery about it, whatever -- I figure the mafia will assume that it's pretty likely you bet on the person you ended up voting for.

@Pass In general, that's not information that you're aware of.

@tyketime I think I answered at some point, but you do not know how much money you'll win if your bet is correct.

Checking in. Reading stuff and junk.

Autumn, some of those services are a little vague. Can we get more specific details about what they do gamewise and how they work? Or were they left specifically vague for gaming fun-ness.

That's basically what you're going to get. Of course those who win the service will get more explicit details.

I want to vote lathum, but that's 100% meta-game for his saving of saldana last game, so I'm not going to do that.

I'm likely going to be gone until after deadline, there's a slim chance I'll check in from my phone before deadline, but this is kinda my night to curl up and catch up on my reading (and some work).

nice lathum - now that looks like we're coordinating a run on J23 when actually we were both just typing at the same time.

way to get us both targeted for lynching. do you hate me or something?

I'm not trying to save you..I'm trying to avoid quick rushes of votes. With you and j23 getting the bulk early on. I hope it switched tonight as these are probably votes that people bet on. I will probably switch my vote tonight if I have to swing a vote or perhaps tie a vote. I dunno..do we typically know what happens with ties? Its been a while since I've played. I know for certain my votes will not be going lathum or j23.

Also I apologize in advance for any spelling errors since I am doing this from my phone 830-530 during the week..

Autumn -- I think that's kind of important info to know. If someone thinks they might die, it'd be nice to know if they can move money to someone else before they die, or not to bother.

Mau -- I feel like lately the tie mechanic is 'unknown' (okay, it's just been the last two games I've been in) -- probably because the dude running it thinks it will discourage ties.

My vote was going to go to someone acting suspicious or someone who hasn't posted much but made it deep into the last game, with a preference to my betting interest if I thought it had a better chance of hitting a wolf. My bettee has been active and not suspicious so I won't go there. I don't have an overly wolfy vibe on those who have posted, so I'm going to look at my other criteria. I was leaning J23 earlier but after the recent run on him I'm going to hold offt and go a different direction with Darth.

VOTE DARTH VILUS

If I may interject here. If you didn't bet I wouldn't vote me, all you are doing is helping the people who did bet me get richer and giving them an advantage over you. I would guess at least 2 wolves probably bet me with the thought they can hide their vote on me in a run away.

The more I think about it I am a horrible vote candidate today. Not only do we have no shot of getting a mobster ( I know I am a villager), but we are pretty much guarenteing the mob gets at least some money in the deal.

If we go with the random candidate we keep them guessing and maybe handcuff them a bit. If I do survive the lynch and NK I will likely be scanned and we can see how things play out tomorrow with that result.
