So there were 4 black people that appeared on saved by the bell. Lisa, the nerd, the freshman and the drill instructor.
And presumably zero Asian people. Are we good with that list?

Lisa's (black) mother showed up at least once, in the drunk driving episode.

See, The Goonies were the opposite. They had an Asian kid but no black people.

The best shot at an Asian would be on the Hawaiian episode.

My roommate (who knows everything about SBTB) maintains that there was an asian kid among the geeks, and could definitely be seen in the "Snow White and the Seven Dorks" episode.

I was about to type that I thought there was an asian geek...then I read the last post. Sounds right to me. Tapping into knowledge from 15+ years ago is good times.

Slater was not at all black. He was a least half hispanic. In an episode of the college years, Slater becomes interested in a somewhat militant latina, and is forced to confront his own identity, eventually taking a chicano studies course, and getting involved in protests for chicano issues. This causes a rift between him and the rest of the gang, as he is viewed as "taking it all too seriously"

I love how Zack calls "Time Out and Time Ins". Then he would re-arrange people so they would hit each other.
As for Slater, he spoked Spanish, at the Sands Club, in one show when he spoke to staff when they went on strike. Also, I thought Slater was going to Iowa to wrestle, not to California. |

Looks like the actor who played Zack is staring in Raising the Bar, to premiere on TNT.

I mean wasn't Bayside in Northern California? Seems like there should have been a stronger Asian presence on the show.

I want to do research and find out more about Saved By the Bell, but after watching the oil spill episode last night where Zack was crying over a duck, I don't think I can stomach it.

I told you guys my roommate was a SBTB aficionado. Here's his count of black people on the show:
(all previously mentioned) Lisa Lisa's mom Lisa's dad Frog-voiced geek Freshman kid Drill instructor Additionally: Intellectual dude that Lisa classed herself up for (Brian I believe) Big brother who passed his little brother on to Screech so he'd be annoyed by him -- from the Teen Line episode. That's 9. |

If we define our list by those who have had speaking parts, I found our 10th black person:

Sadly, I knew every name on that list besides two (one of which was a frequent extra) without reading the descriptions. This, about Darren, says a lot. Quote:
