FWIW, I think about them like Kobe and Shaq except Chen is better at a younger age and will actually pass to other guys. I hope they can co-exist better though

Wow. The Jazz beat us 126-86. Overton, the #10 pick in 2022 had 29 points against us as he torched Chen.

Chen was in foul trouble all game and only played 14 minutes. In those 14 minutes, he had 11 points, 3 boards, 1 assist, and 1 steal.

Francis with 21 points and 9 boards in the loss.

3/14 -

We bounce back and crush the Lakers 126-85. Chen with 31 points, 13 boards, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block in just 30 minutes (due to fouling out again. That is a problem.)

Okafor with 22 points, 11 boards and 6 assists.

Francis with 16 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks.

Wilcox with 20 points off the bench.

3/15 -

We beat the Kings 110-93. Embiid had 21 points, 10 boards, and 3 blocks in the loss for the Kings.

#1 pick Greg Richards had 13 points and 7 assists from the PG spot.

Chen with 27 points, 14 boards, 11 assists, 2 steals, and a block.

Okafor with 30 points.

Francis with 16 points and 9 boards.

3/17 -

We beat the Clippers 123-100. That is win 50! We are 50-17. Our former backup C Papagiannis had 22 points against us.

Chen put up 51 points! Also had 11 boards, 8 assists, 1 steal. He shot 20 of 30, 4 of 9 from the arc, and 7 of 7 from the line.

Okafor with 22 points and 6 boards.

Francis with 20 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks.

Holland with 21 assists.

3/20 -

Memphis also has 50 wins... we crush them 113-80. Chen with 48 points, 6 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals, and a block. He shot 14 of 24, 4 of 8 from the arc, and 16 of 17 from the line.

Francis with 16 points and 9 boards.

3/22 -

We beat the Knicks 101-96. Chen with 22 points, 8 boards, 9 assists, 5 steals, and a block.

Okafor with 18 points and 9 boards.

Francis with 17 points, 18 boards, and a block.

3/23 -

We lose to the Heat 106-99 as Glen Watts dominated inside with 32 points, 10 boards, and 3 blocks.

Chen with 29 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, and 1 steal in the loss. He shot 10 of 24.

Francis with only 8 points, 5 boards, and a block.

3/25 -

We beat the Trailblazers 126-100.

Francis with a career high 41 points, 10 boards, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. He shot 19 of 25, 3 of 3 from the line!

Chen with 27 points, 10 boards, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block. He shot 11 of 15.

Okafor with 21 points and 10 boards.

3/26 -

The Doctors have cleared Simmons to play. He has lost a lot of explosiveness. Not sure that he will ever get it back. He will play backup PG and SF this season and we might have to re-focus him on SF if he doesn't have the speed to play PG anymore...

Chen won player of the Month in the East. Kris Dunn won it in the west.

Terrence Delk won Rookie of the Month in the east and has won it every month. Ditto for Greg Richards in the West....

The experts think the MVP is between Guy Ingram (Knicks) and Chen.

We beat the Hawks 120-110. Francis with 31 points, 10 boards.

Okafor with 28 points and 9 boards.

Chen with 23 points, 10 boards, 3 assists, and a block.

Rodgers with 20 points and 10 boards.

Holland with 16 assists.

Simmons with 4 points, 5 boards, 6 assists, and 1 turnover in just 15 minutes as he fouled out quickly trying to guard their PG...

4/3 -

We beat the Cavs 132-80. Chen torched Irving for 43 points, 13 boards, 9 assists, and 3 steals. He shot 17 of 23!

Francis with 27 points, 10 boards, and 4 blocks.

Wilcox with 21 points and 2 blocks in 20 minutes.

Simmons with 10 points, 14 boards, and 2 assists in 23 minutes.

Holland with 14 assists in 29 minutes.

4/5 -

We beat the Raptors 111-95 but Holland hurts his ankle in the game and will miss at least 1 game.

Holland had 10 assists before he got hurt.

simmons took over the PG for him when he got hurt and finished with 9 points, 9 boards, 7 assists, and 3 steals in 25 minutes...

Francis with 30 points, 10 boards, 4 steals, and 3 blocks.

Okafor with 24 points, 6 boards, 4 blocks.

Chen was in foul trouble and only played 22 minutes - 7 points, 3 boards, 6 assists, 3 steals and a block.

Simmons will start in place of Holland...

We beat the Nets 120-80! Simmons got hot and exploded for 27 points, 12 boards, 14 assists, 2 steals, and a block as he played 42 minutes (I only had him set to play 25!)

Part of the reason for that is Chen got into foul trouble and only played 24 minutes. Chen finished with 16 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, 2 steals, and a block.

Okafor with 21 points, 9 boards, 4 assists.

Francis with 18 points, 9 boards, and 2 blocks.

Holland is healed but Simmons is a star and wants to keep starting him... he proved to me that he deserves to start.

We beat the Pistons 102-72.

simmons with 16 points, 10 boards, 10 assists, and 1 steal. He isn't as explosive, but he is crafty.

Okafor with 28 points, 18 boards, 3 assists, and 3 blocks.

Francis with 16 points, 8 boards, and 2 blocks.

Chen with 14 points, 4 boards, 5 assists, 2 steals, and a block in 29 minutes (foul trouble again.)

Will this cost him his 2nd MVP?

We beat the Pacers 116-86. Simmons led the way with 24 points, 15 boards, 10 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Wow. I'm glad we extended him. He may have lost some explosiveness but he is obviously still a very good player

Francis with 16 points, 8 boards, 2 blocks.

Rodgers with 25 points, 6 boards, and 3 blocks.

Chen got into foul trouble and only played 20 minutes - 12 points, 4 boards, 5 assists.

4/13 -

We beat the Bucks 118-90. Chen led the way with 26 points, 10 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals. He shot a very efficient 9 of 14, 4 of 4 from the arc, and 4 of 5 from the line.

Francis with 24 points and 9 boards.

Okafor with 22 points, 13 boards.

Simmons with 18 points, 8 boards, 13 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

We close out the season with a 121-110 loss to Boston. Will that cost Chen the MVP to Jennings?

We win 100-80 but the story of the game is Chen going down in the 3rd quarter

He has a knee injury....

it doesn't look serious....

Report is in - sprained knee. He will miss the Conference Finals but could be back for the NBA Finals if we can advance without him.

Francis led us to the win with 31 points, 13 boards, and 3 blocks.

Okafor with 20 and 10.

Simmons with 9 points, 10 boards, and 7 assists.

Can we advance without Chen?

These guys are going to be dominant for over a decade.

Yes, barring injury I expect us to dominate for a decade at least. Also, hoping to get super lucky with this Boston lottery pick! There is a young PG who would look great in our uniform (but not trading up for him unless it is only a few slots and doesn't cost a lot.)

Game 2 -

Without Chen, we have to play a slower grind it out game, but we do so and Francis dominates inside in a 93-85 win.

Francis with 25 points, 12 boards, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 3 blocks. He shot 8 of 13 and 9 of 12 from the line.

Rodgers with 17 points, 9 boards, and 2 blocks.

Simmons with 9 points, 12 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals. He shot 4 of 15.

Game 3 -

We grind it out early but our fast break gets going later in the game and we run away with it 114-90.

Simmons with 15 points, 15 boards, 15 assists, and 1 block.

Okafor with 27 points, 10 boards, and 2 blocks.

Francis with 23 points, 12 boards, 2 blocks.

Game 4 -

We play smothering defense and sweep the Heat even without Chen! Wow.

98-70 win.

Francis with 29 points, 12 boards, 2 blocks. He shot 14 of 20.

Okafor with 17 points, 12 boards, 2 blocks.

Simmons with 9 points, 14 boards, 15 assists, 1 steal. He shot 4 of 13.

Hoping the Memphis-Dallas Western Conference Finals go 7 to give Chen maximum chance to be back...

Unfortunately, Memphis wins in 5 to get back to the Finals to face us again. Can we handle them like last time?

They have added Kris Dunn to their young lineup which has improved and they have 4 guys at or over 80 overall..

Chen is not going to make it back for game 1

Francis with 23 points, 12 boards, and a block.

Simmons with 12 points, 4 boards, 13 assists.

Okafor with 17 points and 8 boards.

Game 6 -

We win!! We win!! Chen gets another Championship! We win 104-70. Does he get MVP?

Chen with 16 points, 5 boards, and 4 assists in Game 6.

Simmons with 15 points, 12 boards, 11 assists, 3 steals, and a block.

Okafor with 29 points, 6 boards, and a block.

Francis with 18 points, 8 boards, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

So, does Chen get the MVP of the Finals?

No, I guess because he missed 2 games, the voters go another direction and go with Ben Simmons!

Simmons averaged 12.2 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 9.3 apg, and 2.2 spg.

Chen has completed his 4th season and he just got his 4th Championship. Wow.

Tristan Thompson, Thunder, 35.
Draymond Green, Grizzlies, 36.
Ricky Rubio, 36, no team.

Gregg Popovich after 29 years in the league, decides to retire as our coach

HOF News:

Westbrook, Curry, and George all make it.

NBA League News:

The rules committee increased the number of fouls to 7 before a player fouls out.

Also, the top 10 picks are lottery picks now and the rest are seeded based on record.

Speaking of which, it is time for the Lottery!!!

We have a 0.9% chance of Boston's pick moving up... otherwise, it is #14...

Bah, we stay at #14.

The Warriors had a 1.1% of moving up from 13 and they got lucky... they move up to #7.

The Hawks moved up from #7 to #2 in the lottery.

The Pistons with a 9.2% chance got the #1 pick.

We have the #14 and #30 pick.

Now, it is time to hire a new coach...

There are several very good coaches available including Steve Kerr... but the coach who our team things is the best is David Blatt... he has top ratings for developing players and for running offense....

David Blatt also has an offer from 2 other teams but he picks to come coach Chen. We gave him 25 million over 4 years. We got him from the Hawks. The Hawks hired our old coach Brett Brown.

Kerr was definitely the 2nd best choice and he decided not to take any of the available jobs and wait for a better offer to come along..

Time for the draft...

As expected, the Pistons take the top PG and undisputed top player in the draft.

The Hawks trade down from #2, picking up the #5 pick this year and a 1st next year from Portland!

Portland takes the top SF from Europe but he is nothing special at this point in his career.

The Clippers take the top PF/C (undersized at C) with the #3 spot who is a great rebounder.

With the #4 pick the Nets get the top big man, a 7'0 270 pound C who has good inside scoring moves.

With the 5th pick, the Hawks get the 2nd best 7 footer in the draft.

The Wolves trade Zach Lavine and a future 1st to get the #8 pick. They take the best SG in the draft (who I was hoping might fall to me at #14.)

The Kings take a SF at #9 who I loved and who my coach wanted me to get. I might still trade for him...

The Spurs trade Dario Saric for the #10 pick and Chester Dudley, a young C.

The Spurs use that pick to get a developmental SG.

The Warriors trade Blake Griffin to the Suns for the #11 pick... They get an athletic SF. They have added 2 good athletes so far in the draft.

No one at #14 that I love, but I can't get a good trade. I take a 6'6 230 pound SG out of North Carolina State who can shoot the 3 well and could develop into a solid player.

FA News:

The biggest FA is Glen Watts who is rated 86 overall and is 7'0 280 lbs and is only 27 years old...

My old SG Rick Sharpe is now an UFA but I decide not to pursue him. He was too unhappy with the limited minutes he would get with us...

He ends up getting a 3 year deal for 8 million from the Pacers.

Knicks sign Jaylen Brown for 3 years and 21 million.

My brief backup C Jakob Poeltl gets 3 years and 50 million from the Clippers. We really boosted his career.

We re-sign Eric Holland, Tommy Lucas, and Bojan Pavic to min sal 1 year deals.

The Hawks pay 130 million over 5 years to sign Hans Hoffman! Who? Hans is a 23 year old SG from Germany who was the #9 pick in the 2022 draft. He has developed into an 83 rated SG at age 23. He is a spectacular passer and a capable shooter. He plays solid defense and has potential to still develop further. He averaged 14.6 ppg and 2.7 apg last year.

The Heat re-sign Glen Watts for 5 years and 155 million.

Player Progression News:

Can Simmons re-gain any of his explosiveness?

Sadly, the answer is no. He is not regaining anything and he has suffered significant losses in shooting skill at age 30 as well as his athleticism which has declined. On the plus side, he is still a dynamic passer and rebounder. His overall rating has declined to 76 at age 30.

Chen at the age of 23 has gained 2 more overall and is now a pure 96 (what will he be with Blatt's system?) Of note, his shooting has become truly elite in both mid range and 3 point shots. His perimeter defense has become special. His basketball IQ has improved. Hopefully, he won't foul out so much now...

Francis at age 21 is up to a pure 87! He has developed more post moves and is an elite post scorer. His mid range shot has continued to develop. His interior defense has become very good. He also has improved his basketball IQ.

Rodgers at age 24 has become a star. He has develop interior scoring, superb post play, and a mid range game. He is at the point that I may have to start him....

Which brings us to Okafor. At age 30, he is regressing significantly. His physical attributes are in severe decline and his mid range shot is in some decline. He has dropped to an overall of 82.

Wilcox has improved every year and is up to a 77. He is ready to play as a stretch 4.

Lucas has continued to improve and is an elite 3 point shooter. The big man is ready to get some more PT...

We have to move a player to cut down to 15...

Wow, the Mavericks want Andre Roberson. They are willing take him plus a 2nd for their 2029 1st rounder (top 3 protected.)

Easy trade to pull the trigger on!

With Blatt's system in place, Chen is a 98 and Francis is a 89! Let's take a look at the roster:

My assistant coaches suggest making 2 big moves:

Holland starting at PG over Simmons. I decline that suggestion.

They recommend Rodgers starting at PF, Francis at C, and Okafor first big off the bench. I agree to that. Okafor has to deal with this new reality...

October 28th -

Our season opener is at the Nets. Blatt's system is a bit less defensive oriented than Pop. Also, he likes a slower offense but Chen has convinced him to run, run, and run some more.

We win 121-90! Chen with 31 points, 17 boards, 13 assists, 3 steals in his season opener.

Simmons with 21 points, 9 boards, 7 assists despite only playing 26 minutes (which is all he will play each game for now on.)

Francis with 20 points, 12 boards, and 2 blocks. Very efficient 7 of 10 shooting night.

Okafor with 18 points, 11 boards, and 3 blocks.

Rodgers with 12 points, 5 boards, 5 steals, and a block.

10/30 -

We host the Bucks.

We win 109-84. Chen with 33 points, 9 boards, 5 assists, 1 block.

Okafor with 25 points and 8 boards.

Francis with 23 points, 4 boards, and a block.

Simmons with 6 points, 4 boards, and 13 assists.

Age 23 and 21. Unbelievable.

Does the league have a max for contracts? I be Chen and Francis are going to kill the cap in a few years.

I think NBA 2k17 does have a max contract rule of around 33 million (that rises with league inflation) but I'm not sure.

Edited above post to show roster video including a detailed look at Chen.

With the birth of my son, it has been a while since I have had time to play but I can play a bit this morning (until he wakes up from this nap.)

Oct 31st -

We beat the Bulls 81-75. Saric is now on the Bulls and led them with 22 points and 13 boards.

Chen led us with 22 points, 11 boards, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 1 block.

Rodgers with 17 points, 5 boards, and 4 blocks.

Okafor with 14 points and 11 boards. Francis with 10 points, 9 boards, and 1 block.

November 2nd,

Rodgers gets hurt in a game and could play through it but I decide to sit him for 2-3 weeks rather than risk him exacerbating his injury. This makes Okafor very happy as he moves back into the starting lineup and has a nice trickle effect throughout our roster.

Early in the year, Chen is averaging a career high 27 ppg, career high 11.5 rpg, and 5.7 apg (6.3 apg is career high.) Let's see how he is doing at the end of November.

Very early but Francis is averaging a career low 14.8 ppg, 8.0 rpg, and a career high 2.1 bpg. Let's see where he is at the end of the month...

November 8th -

Bilous wants a contract extension and his shut down defensive ability is key to our team. He wants 3 years for 83 million! We go back and forth and get him down to 3 years at 75 million.

November 10th -

Okafor fractures his leg in a game and is likely done for the year

He is 30 years old. We will see how he bounces back from that...

Wilcox slides into a stretch 4 starting role. Lucas gets his wish for minutes as he is the primary backup center now..

We are still undefeated at 7-0. How long will that continue?

Nov 14th -

We suffer our first loss to the Mavericks as they beat us 118-114.

Wilcox has had a hard time adjusting to starting and has been held to single digits each game on poor shooting. This time Chen and Francis could not power us quite enough as Kent Falls led all scorers with 39 points.

11/15 -

Wilcox with 1 of 12 shooting and we lose again. I will give him a bit more time before he moves back to a reserve role...

11/17 -

The next day Wilcox bounces back with a 21 points, 10 boards, 6 block night! He shot 5 of 8 from the arc.

Chen tore it up after 2 losses with a 47 points, 6 boards, 8 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks on 15 of 20 shooting with 6 of 6 from the arc.

November 24th -

Rodgers is completely healthy and moves back to starting lineup.

End of November -

We are 12-4 as we lost 4 in the month but not Chen or Francis' fault. Chen is now up to 27.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 5.4 apg, 3.8 spg (wow), and 1.2 bpg) while shooting a career high 49% from the floor and 42% from the arc.

Francis with a big month is now at a career best 22.5 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 0.7 apg, and 2.0 bpg (career high.) He is also shooting a career high 62% from the floor and has hit a 3 shooting 1 of 6 from the arc.

Simmons in his first full season back is averaging 11.7 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 7.1 apg, 1.5 spg, and 0.5 bpg but his shooting percentage is way down at 40% from the floor after averaging 52% the last 3 seasons before his injury.

Dec 14th -

Bilous hurts a ligament in his elbow and will miss 4-6 weeks

Simmons will slide to SF and Holland will start at PG.

12/25 -

Chen tweaks his knee. He will sit 1 or 2 games.

Warren gets the start and we win 129-80. Francis took over with 32 points, 15 boards, and 3 blocks.

After the game, Chen is cleared to return.

In his return he puts up 32 against our old center Micoud in a rout.

At the end of December we are 25-6.

Chen averaging career high 28.6 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 5.1 apg, 3.2 spg, 1.2 bpg on 50% shooting.

Francis avg: 23.5 ppg, 9.9 rpg, .9 apg, 1.2 spg, 2 bpg.

Simmons: 12.5 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 6.9 apg.

1/8/2027 -

Chen hits 50 points in a 129-102 win over the Cavs. Holland has really been making it easy for Chen with great passes.

1/10 -

Chen follows up his 50 point night with a 57 point night in a 134-100 win over the Raptors. He shot 17 of 23, 5 of 10 from the arc, and 18 of 18 from the line.

Holland with 11 assists in the win.

1/12 -

He continues it with a 50 point game in a win against the Hawks, 120-90!

1/14 -

He "only" scores 36 points in a 119-93 win over the Pelicans.

1/15 -

He is a bit tired and has an off night of 23 points in a loss to the Celtics, 100-96.

1/20 -

Bilous is cleared to return but Simmons is thriving at SF and I think Holland adds to the team at PG. I decide to make Bilous our 6th man.

End of January -

We are now 38-9. But, both Hermangomez and Lucas want more minutes. I need to trade one of them I think or risk losing them both...

Chen is up to a career high 29.5 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 5.4 apg, 2.9 spg, and 1.1 bpg. He is shooting 49.3% from the field.

Simmons is averaging 13.3 ppg, 8 rpg, 7 apg, and 1.3 spg while shooting 48% from the floor (he is doing so much better at SF when he gets inside.)

Rodgers is having a breakout in ratings per our scouts but it has not translated into much higher production - he is averaging 11.7 ppg, 7 rpg, 2.6 spg, and 2.0 bpg. All about the same as last year.

Bilous is averaging his usual 7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.7 spg, and 1.1 bpg while shooting 52% from the floor and playing tremendous defense.

Now for who should be traded:

Hernangomez is averaging 22.5 mpg, 7.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.7 apg, and 0.7 bpg.

Wilcox is averaging 22 mpg, 8.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg, and 1.2 bpg while shooting a lower percentage (surprisingly) at only 34%. He is definitely not living up to his ratings as a shooter yet... Even more surprising he is 29% from the arc...

Lucas is averaging 13 mpg, 5.4 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.4 bpg and is shooting 39% overall and 39% from the arc. I think all things considered, it is time to get the big C Lucas some more minutes.

Hernangomez is the oldest player and is the one I will trade...

I had a few good offers for him earlier in the year and passed on them... hopefully I can find a good one now.

Those offers are gone but I find one I like:

I give up:

Juan Hernangomez (80 overall rating now - 31 years old), C Dave Harper (67 and only 19 but with potential) and I get back from the Suns 24 year old 77 rated SG Lawrence Fowlkes but who can provide some great outside shooting (98 rating on open 3's) and size at 6'6. He is under contract at 3 years for 34 million. I also get the Suns 1st pick in 2029 (top 3 protected.)

2/2/2027 -

A big game as the Knicks are tied with us for 1st place in the Eastern Conference.

Ingram puts up 44 points and Porzingas adds 20, but we win 120-112.

Francis with 33 points, 16 boards, and 3 blocks. He shot 15 of 25.

Chen with 28 points, 5 boards, 4 assists, 3 steals, and a block.

Simmons with 15 points, 10 boards, 12 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks.

Rodgers with 14 points, 14 boards, and 2 blocks.

Fowlkes shot 0 of 5 in his debut.

2/9 -

Bilous suffers a hairline fracture in his arm. Out about 4 weeks per our docs.

More playing time for Fowlkes.

2/10 -

Chen and Francis each break 40 points in a 122-79 win over the Wizards!

2/17 -

We enter the All-Star break with a 45-11 record and our 1st in the East.

Chen had the most All-Star votes by a wide margin.

Francis was also voted by fans to the All-Star starting lineup in the East.

They were the only 2 76ers to make it. Saric made it now with the Bulls as well.

Chen skipped the All-Star dunk contest.

He lost the 3 point contest to a young player from the Warriors. The Warriors had 2 different players win the dunk contest and 3 point contest.

Chen led the East to a 140-119 win over the West. Chen got MVP with 34 poins, 10 assists, and 7 boards in 30 minutes.

Francis with 18 points, 9 boards, 3 assists, and a block in 29 minutes.

Feb 27 -

A big game for Chen against the Warriors - 35 points, 11 boards, 10 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks in a 109-90 win. Chen shot 14 of 24, 4 of 8 from the arc.

We are 46-12 at the end of Feb. Chen is averaging 29.5 ppg (25.6 previous high), 8.8 rpg (8.2 prev high), 5.8 apg (6.3), 2.8 spg (2.7), and 1.1 (0.8.) He is shooting 49.7% from the floor (47.8%) and 42.4% from the arc (42.5% last season)

3/2 -

Bilous is healed and will go back to 6th man. That means less minutes for Warren who has already been complaining about his time...

3/6 -

Chen with 47 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, 7 steals, and 3 blocks in a 129-90 win over Portland. He shot 17 of 27, 6 of 10 from the arc, and 7 of 7 from the line.

2 nights later a 32 point, 10 boards, 10 assists, 3 steal night in a 117-100 win over Houston.

3/16 -

We are on a 9 game winning streak and Okafor is back from injury. We'll work him back into the rotation off the bench.

End of March:

We are 60-14. Chen had 7 straight games with 30 plus during the month and 2 with 40 plus.

Chen is now 24. He is up to 29.8 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 5.8 apg, 3.0 spg, and 1.1 bpg. He is shooting a career high 49.7% from the floor and 43.1% from the arc.

Francis is 22 years old and is averaging 24.3 ppg (20.6 ppg prev high), 9.7 rpg (9.2), 1.0 apg (0.9 apg), 1.4 spg (1.6), and 1.9 bpg (1.7) He is shooting a career best 58.9% (57.8%) and 11.1% from the arc.

With the college season over, let's look at the likely top 5 picks:

1. PF Andy Love 6'9 260 and a good shooter. Most likely to be selected #1 overall. Might be close to his ceiling but likely a fringe All-Star right away. Only 19 though so he might improve a lot.

2. Fabricio Reyes 6'8 230 pound PF who is 21. He is a fierce defensive PF who has a limited offensive game so far that mostly relies on dunking. Better ceiling?

3. Wes Jackson - The least game ready right now but the highest potential SG who is only 18 years old. Great passer who has the potential to be a super star. 6'4 200 lbs.

4. PG Rudolph Sharpe is 5'7 155 and 19 years old. Prolific 3 point shooter who is a defensive liability right now.

5. Clyde Galloway, 6'11 280 pound PF who is mainly a rebounder and defensive specialist right now but has potential to develop into an All-Star.

End of season:

We finish 67-15. Chen just barely misses 30 ppg but he easily wins MVP again!

Here is a video of all of the award winners:

Spurs get the 3rd pick.

We do not have a draft pick this year.

So we have 5 FA's and big news:

My favorite C Tommy Lucas is determined to go somewhere and get big time minutes shooting 3's

T.J. Warren is also demanding to go somewhere else, which is funny considering his injury and he is 33...

I have 3 FA's who will re-sign if I want them...

Wilcox - hasn't lived up to his potential. His asking price will determine if we re-sign him.

Bojan Pavic - He hasn't done much but with us cutting some salary, he could find a role with us if he is willing to sign cheap...

PG Eric Holland - I will do everything I can to re-sign him....

Hmmm, Holland only want 2.01 million for 1 year. He knows he is limited and is in the perfect system. I gladly offer him what he wants...

Wilcox wants 48 million for 3 years. I hate to lose him, but he has not produced like we expected. Furthermore, he wants to start. I take a chance and decide to let him test the market and see if his price comes down before I offer him...

Pavic is interested in staying for the minimum so I offer him that...

This is a weak FA class and Wilcox is actually the 2nd best rated FA with only Aaron Gordon being rated higher....

Lucas doesn't get the bigtime offers he was expecting and after a few days he is willing to negotiate with me. I offer him 13 million for 3 years and he accepts!!

Wilcox as a good stretch 4 is getting tons of offers

I love him but my owner wants major luxury tax cuts as we were 100 million in last year!

Bojan and Holland both decide to sign for the minimum...

Wilcox had 8 offers and finally chose the Clippers for 4 years 74 million!

We sign SF Donnie Hicks, a 25 year old SF rated 71 overall who specializes in the 3 ball for the vet minimum. That gets us to a minimum roster of 13 which we go with for this season unless we get hit by injuries...

Transaction News:

The only other big contracts besides Wilcox were:

C Jim Hamre signed 4 years for 102 million to play for Raptors.

Kings got Michael Singletary, a SF, for 4 years 63 million.

Hawks re-signed an aging Devin Booker to 5 years 107 million!

Wolves re-signed Wiggins to 3 years 64 million.

Celtcis sign SF Terry Barkley, a young emerging potential star, for 4 years 102 million. A lot for potential...

The Clippers signed young SG Wayne Soto for 4 years 102 million.

The Nets got Aaron Gordon for 4 years and 64 million.

Progression News:

Chen gained a bit more and is now a natural 98 (but a 99 in our coach's system.)

Francis is up to a natural 90 now (93 in the coach's system.) Of note, he has become stronger, a better shot blockers, and a better rebounder.

Rodgers is up to a natural 88.

Fowlkes, the young SG is now up to a natural 79.

Lucas is up to a 78 and will get more run this year.

Regression:

Time and injuries has not been kind to Ben Simmons. He is down to a 75

Okafor is in full blown regression at 31 years old but is still a very capable scorer. However, he has dropped to an 81 with the biggest drop being to his outside shooting and athleticism (which wasn't great before.)

Eric Holland at 30 is starting to show signs of losing a step.

Young athletic 25 year old PF Barry Geiger took a major step up this offseason and will get minutes with the departure of Wilcox...

Young 20 year old SG Watts took huge steps up from a 64 last year to a 70 this year! He is a dynamic outside shooter.

We won the summer league on a team built around Watts!

The All-Star college game featured a 19 year old C from USC who is a super athlete and 7'0 276. You know I'm going to be tempted to get him somehow

Time to start the season. My coach and assistant GM both want me to finally bench Simmons

This is tough to do. He was the guy we started building around when I first became GM here. I hate to do it, but I agree that with his limitations it is the best move for us to win.

Our starting 5:

PG Holland (74 but 76 in system and perfect for us.)
SG Chen (98 to 99)
SF Bilous (83 to 84)
PF Rodgers (88 to 90)
C Francis (90 to 92)

Our bench:

6. Okafor (82 to 84) - will get 25 to 30 minutes per game.
7. Fowlkes (79 to 81) - will get 20-25 minutes per game.
8. Lucas - (78 to 80) - will get 15-20 minutes per game.
9. Simmons (74 to 76) - will get 10-15 minutes per game at PG and SF.

10. Pavic - Will play if injuries happen.
11. Hicks - Ditto
12. Geiger - Ditto
13. Watts - Ditto (but working his way up)

Game 1 -

WOW! We come out on fire, 144-90 win over Pacers!

Chen with 48 points, 9 boards, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Francis with 25 points, 10 boards, 4 blocks.

Okafor with 22 points.

Holland with 11 points 14 assists.

Simmons with 10 points, 12 boards, 5 assists in only 16 minutes.

Lucas with 2 points in 15 minutes

2 nights later Simmons with 12 assists in 16 minutes!

Chen and Francis dominating early. We are 3-0 and demolishing teams. Playing with fire!

We are 5-0 early November but Okafor and Simmons both come into my office complaining that they are not starting

LOL. The Wolves just offered me Wiggins and a 1st for Francis. Heck no!

We are 7-0 and demolishing teams. Just beat the Wolves 133-93. Chen and Francis each put up over 30 points.

Mid November:

We are now 10-0 and winning by an average margin of 32 ppg!

Simmons is putting up some ridiculous numbers for limited minutes. How long can he keep this up? He just had 12 points, 9 boards, 6 assists in 16 minutes!

Nov 22 -

We just went against the Clippers and my former player Wilcox. Now, that he is starting, he is finally thriving as a stretch 4. But, we continue our win streak and beat the Clippers 111-93. Wilcox led them with 24 points, 12 boards, and 6 blocks against us!

For the season, he is playing 31 mpg and averaging 17.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, and 2.2 bpg. He is shooting 41% from the field and 32.5% from the arc.

Chen put up 31 points, 10 boards, 10 assists, 2 steals in the win.

Hmmm. I wonder if Francis is starting to put out a vibe that he wants to be the man. I've gotten 5 trade offers for him this season.

The Bulls offer us Saric for Okafor which is actually very tempting. Saric has more left in the tank as a shooter, but Okafor is playing dominant for us right now off the bench. I turn it down.

November 26th -

NO!!!! Francis suffers a dislocated elbow that will keep him out 1-2 months

This means that Okafor will get his wish and move back into the starting lineup.

It also means Simmons and Lucas will get more PT off the bench.

We are 16-0 before the injury. Can we keep it going?

Nov 29th -

Chen puts up 40 points, 12 boards, 7 assists to keep it going with a 119-88 win over the Raptors.

End of November:

We are 17-0 and Chen is playing out of this world:

Chen's averages: 34.4 PPG (29.9 ppg previous high), 8.3 rpg (9.0), 5.6 apg (6.3), 3.5 spg (3.0), 1.1 bpg (1.1), 53.5% shooting (49.8%), 47.3% from the arc (43.1%), and 94.2% from the line (93.4%)

Francis for the month: 22.0 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 1.1 spg, 1.9 bpg. He was shooting 60.1% from the floor!

12/1 -

His averages are down a lot this year, but with 24 minutes off the bench, Simmons has a 20 points, 10 boards, 4 assist game in a 112-105 win over Memphis. Fowlkes had 20 points off the bench as well. Chen only had 13 in the win as he shot 5 of 15.

12/3 -

We drop to 18-1 as Golden state beats us 99-93. Durant with 14 points in 24 minutes. Overton, their young guard, led them with 23 points.

12/4 -

Now that he is starting again (temporarily) Okafor wants an extension... he is 31 and on the downside but I'd love for him to retire a 76er... let's see what we can do:

Wow, he wants 32 million a year for 3 years. I can't do that.

I try offering him 20 million but he is not budging from his demands.

Time to work on a trade for Okafor once we get Francis back!

Rodgers also wants an extension. He is 25 and on the rise still. He only wants 84 million for 3 years. He is a key defender and rebounder for us who can have the occasional big scoring night...

I get him down to just under 75 million for 3 years and he agrees!

We also get the full scouting report on Corie Emerson, the 7'0 265 pound 19 year old C from USC and our scouts think he will be a star. I don't know if it is possible, but I'd love to flip Okafor for a high 1st round pick to get a shot at this kid...

Dec 19th -

Okafor is so mad that I have not given him a max contract that he is now absolutely demanding a trade

Meanwhile, we are 25-1 and cruising with him at C and Chen at SG...

Dec 20th -

Chen with a 51 points, 12 boards 10 assists, 5 steal night in a 130-128 win over Boston.

Dec 24th -

An early Christmas Gift. Francis has been cleared to return! No lasting effects either per our staff.

Also, Francis wants an extension by Christmas....

We give him 70 million over 3 years.

Francis' first game back - 31 points, 13 boards 3 blocks on 11 of 13 shooting for a 130-112 win. Chen also had 30 points and 8 assists.

Okafor bruises his sternum in the game and we will have to wait a few days to try to trade him...

Dec 26 -

Chen with the very rare quadruple double! 18 points, 10 boards, 10 assists, 10 steals!

Dec 28th -

We trade Okafor and our 1st round pick to the Lakers for their #1 pick and a scrub player (because we need 13 on our roster.) They are currently 7-24. Hopefully, Okafor doesn't get them too many wins.

This trade means Lucas at 7'3 300 will be bombing 3's off the bench for 20-25 minutes per night

Simmons also gets more minutes off the bench after this trade...

12/29 -

First game post-trade, we beat Phoenix 130-70. Francis with 30 points, 17 boards, 7 blocks! Chen with 38 points. Lucas with 6 points, 8 boards, and a block.

End of December:

We are 31-1!

Chen: 31.9 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 5.9 apg, 3.6 apg, 0.8 bpg. Shotting 53.2% overall and 45.4% from the arc.

Francis 23.4 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 1.0 spg, 2.2 bpg. Shooting 60% and 66% from the arc (2 of 3 on the year.)

Lucas is up to 8 ppg and shooting 37% from the arc.

Simmons: Career low 7.6 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 5.6 apg. All career lows. He is also shooting career low 41%

Fowlkes, who has been our top player off the bench and averaging 10.6 ppg for us, severely sprains an ankle and will be out for 2-3 months

This moves Simmons and Lucas up the bench and means that PF Geiger will finally play meaningful minutes. He is an athletic PF who has high potential...

1/6 -

Francis with his first 50 point game of his career! He also had 18 rebounds and 1 block He shot 20 of 27 and 10 of 12 from the line.

1/9 -

Geiger's 2nd game he has 14 points in 16 minutes on a bunch of dunks. Chen with 14 assists!

1/19 -

We finally get our 2nd loss, this time to the Raptors 109-107. We are now 40-2!

End of January:

We are 46-2! Chen and Francis are playing dominant basketball together. Simmons had a 25 points, 10 boards, 7 assist night this month. His averages are still down, but he is doing the most he can with his more limited physical abilities.

We are 54-3 at the All-Star break! Could we break the 75 win mark?

Chen, Francis, and Rodgers all made the All-Star Team!

Rooke Andy Love is averaging 20 ppg and 10 rpg and also made the team.

Okafor made the team in the West. He was averaging 15 ppg for me but upped it to 19 ppg on 60% shooting for the Lakers.

Bilous is mad that he didn't make the All-Star team, but with his defense first approach, I don't think I can ever make him a promise to get him to an All-Star game...

Young G Greg Richards was the All-Star MVP as he led the West to a 118-117 win. Richards had 23 points and 8 assists.

Holland goes down with a knee sprain and we lost 112-108 to the Mavericks.

Simmons will start at PG as a result until Hollands returns in 2-4 weeks.

Next game after the injury, Chen goes off to secure the win - 54 points, 16 boards, 10 assists, and 3 steals.

Simmons with 4 points, 12 boards, 10 assists in his first start.

Next game: Simmons with 17 points, 15 boards, 11 assists. Wow.

Next game: Simmons with 24 points, 13 boards, 12 assists. Wow. Playing way above his ratings and deserving to keep starting!

Chen has 30 plus in each of the games.

Oh no!!! Simmons dislocates his right Patella His season and possibly his career are done . One of my favorite players in this dynasty destroyed by injuries

The throw in junk PG from the Okafor trade is going to start a game or two for us... or I could move Chen to PG and play Fowlkes. I'll do that instead.

One of the rule changes that went into effect years ago was that there is no trade deadline. The Knicks offer me PG Mo Morgan and a young talented PF for Rodgers and my trash PG Chugainov... I'm tempted but Morgan is tiny and not a fit for my system.. We'll win with Chen at PG and Fowlkes starting at SG.

3/28 -

Chen's first game at PG - 34 points, 12 boards, 10 assists, 3 steals, and 3 blocks. He shot 12 of 24, 5 of 10 from the arc, and 5 of 5 from the line.

Francis had 18 points and 8 boards.

Fowlkes shot 3 of 10 and had 12 points.

Watts, our young SG, got his first real minutes and played 17 minutes and had 12 points on 4 of 10 shooting.

3/30 -

Chen's 2nd game at PG against the Hawks: 50 points, 10 boards, 13 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.

Francis with 27 points, 13 boards, and 3 blocks in the game.

Lucas with 12 points.

Fowlkes shot 3 of 10 and finished with 7 points.

End of March: We are 70-5. Can we get to 75 wins?

WTF! Fowlkes comes into my office complaining he is not getting enough shots. How about you produce A-Hole. You're lucky I don't trade you instantly, but we need you for now...

Same day, Holland is cleared to return. He will start at PG, Chen at SG, and Fowlkes back to the bench.

First game back: Holland with 17 assists as we in 114-55 over Cleveland!

Fowlkes likes the bench and has 20 points. Chen with 31 points, 9 boards, 8 assists, 4 steals in the win.

4/3 -

Chen with a 5 of 18 night and we lose to the Raptors 115-111. Now 71-6 and the margin to 75 wins is smaller...

4/5 -

Chen with 31, Fowlkes with 20, and Francis with 18 as we cruise past the Cavs. Lucas also added 12.

4/6 -

Chen with 35 points, 10 boards, 11 assists, 4 steals, and a block as we cruise past the Pacers. Francis added 32, 11 boards, and 3 blocks.

4/8 -

Chen with 45 points, 10 boards, 10 assists, 4 steals as we crush the Magic. Rodgers with 28 points, 15 boards, blocks. Francis with a quiet 16 point night.

Pavic with 17 points in 16 minutes.

We are now 74-6... we have the Knicks and Bulls between us and 75 wins...
